Funeral services for Hays McMickle, 82, of Forrest City were held at 10 am. Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004 at Stevens Funeral Home chapel in Forrest City. Burial was in Forrest Park cemetery.
McMickle died Friday, Dec. 3, 2004 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City. His death came sudden and unexpected.
McMickle was born Oct. 27, 1922 in Pine Tree, Arkansas, the son of Ed and Verlin Ellis McMickle. He lived in Forrest City most of his life, was retired from Cohen Department Store, was a veteran of World War II, a member of the V.F.W., and a member of the First Baptist Church.
He married
Dora Key in 1954, and she survives him along with a son and daughter-in-law, John and Joanne McMickle of West Helena; one daughter and son-in-law, Frances and Robert Waldron of Mobile, La., a sister, Margie Hodges of Russellville; three grandchildren, James Wesson, Thomas Waldron and David Waldron, and several nieces and nephews.

JESSIE MOONEY
Graveside services for Jessie O. Mooney, 72, were held at 2 p.m. today at Central cemetery in Lexa with the Rev. Jay Thompson officiating.
Mooney died Friday, Nov. 26, 2004 at Helena Regional Medical Center. Born Oct. 5, 1932 to Jessie and Annie Mooney in Blytheville, he was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy and a general construction worker.
He leaves three sons, Jerry Mooney of Helena, Lonnie Mooney of Conway and Larry Mooney of Helena; two brothers, Wayland Mooney and Bobby Mooney, both of Helena; a sister, Earline Hill of Irving, Texas; and the mother of his children, Betty Mooney of Helena.
Roller-Citizens was in charge of services.
HIRAM ALEXANDER
Hiram Miller Alexander, Jr. of Helena died Thursday, December 2. Alexander was born on November 298, 1944, in Memphis. He is the son of the late Velda and Hiram Alexander, Sr. of Helena. Milton is survived by his sister, Elizabeth Alexander May, and her husband William "Bill" of Little Rock, Arkansas and, their children, Bill May and his wife Tammy of Grand Rapids, Michigan and their daughter Emily, daughters Mary Louise May of Chicago, Ill. And Sarah May Treat and her husband Billy and their children Billy and Alex of Fayetteville, Arkansas; Milton's daughters Theresa "Terri" Elizabeth Alexander Turner and husband Jimmy and three grandchildren, Bryan, Thomas, and Elizabeth, all of Belzoni, Mississippi, Ashley Alexander DeHaven and her husband Jay and two step-children, Beren and Drew, all of Little Rock, Arkansas; and his son Hiram Milton "Alex" Alexander, III and his wife, Brooke, of New Olrelans, Louisiana.
Milton was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Helena. He is a graduate of the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity, and majored in the school of agriculture. Milton farmed many years in eastern Arkansas and various areas of the delta. He served on the Riceland Board and was active in many community organizations. Milton had many lifelong friends, many established in his wonderful years at the University, which he spoke of fondly and often.
A memorial will be held at St. John's Episcopal Church on Monday, December 6 at 1 p.m. Reverend Andrew Jackson will officiate. A reception to follow immediately.

Funeral services for Fannie Mae Pollard, 96, of Marvell will be held noon Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004 at Mount Moriah Church near Marvell. Burial will be at Lone Valley cemetery by Bob Neal & Sons Brickell Funeral Home.
Pollard, born Sept. 3, 1908, was the daughter of the late Zack and Florence Thomas Maes. She was a homemaker and a member of Mount Moriah M.B. Church.
She leaves behind one son, Willie Pollard of Marvell; one daughter Rosie Lee Taylor, of New Orleans, La.; one brother, Frank Hollands of Gulfport, Miss; 21 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Lela Sharpe McDowell, 79, of Helena will be held Saturday, December 4, 2004 at 1 p.m. at St. Paul's Church in HelenaThe reverend Amos Newell will officiate. Burial will be at Magnolia cemetery in Helena.
Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul's church prior to the funeral. McDowell, born June 3, 1925 in Helena, was a nurse at Helena Regional Medical Center for many years.
She leaves to cherish her memories her husband Henry McDowell; her daughter Pattie Barrow-Dunlap of St. Louis, Mo; one sister, Addie (Walter) Pannell of Helena; one grandson, Edmund (Andria) Jackson of St. Louis, Mo.; three great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Agnes McDowell of St. Louis, Mo; a host of nieces and nephews and a very dear friend, LaPearl Lofton.

Scott, born Feb. 1, 1913 in West Helena to John Fredrick Stielde and Amelia Pearson, died Nov. 30, 2004 in Hot Springs.
Scott's occupation was assorting nuts and bolts at Doughboy and she was a member of West Helena United Methodist Church.
She leaves to cherish her memory two sons William F. "Bill" Scott and James L. Scott and his wife Beth A. Scott all of Hot Springs; one brother Frank Stielde of Gulf Port, Miss, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceding her in death was her husband Leo. F. Scott.

Funeral services for Lash Larue Stevenson, 52, of West Memphis formerly of West Helena will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8 at the Beautiful Zion Missionary Baptist Church in West Memphis. Burial will be at Paradise Garden.

Stevenson, who was a concrete finisher, died Dec. 2, 2004 at Crittenden Memorial Hospital in West Memphis.
He leaves his wife Delia Stevenson of West Memphis, a daughter Tameka Walker of Byhalia, Miss., four sons Lash Stevenson Jr., Jonathan Stevenson, Timothy Stevenson of West Memphis and Lashedric Stevenson Daily of Little Rock; his mother Claudine Stevenson of West Helena; three sisters, Mary A. Chandler and Brenda Smith of Memphis, and Mary Ann Holmes of West Memphis; three brothers Steve Stevenson of Owensboro, Ky., Patro Stevenson of Jonesboro and Marcus Stevenson of Jacksonville and ten grandchildren.

Funeral services for Ethel Clara Davis, 94, of West Helena will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004 at the chapel of Bob Neal and Sons-Brickell Funeral Home in Marvell. Burial will be at the Franks cemetery near Holly Grove.
Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel of Bob Neal and Sons-Brickell Funeral Home.
Davis died Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004 at Helena Regional Medical Center. She was a homemaker and a member of the Marvell Church of God of Prophecy.
She leaves a daughter Lois Cease of West Helena, six grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.

Graveside services for Herman Lee Baker, 83, of West Helena will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004 at Oak Grove cemetery in West Helena instead of at the PLM&D; District Center as reported in Friday's Daily World.

Baker was enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on June 28, 1942 and awarded the Bronze Star, Lapel Button, the European-African-Middle Eastern Theatre Campaign Ribbon, Victory Ribbon, and five overseas bars, decorations, citations, and good conduct medals.
He worked at Mohawk Tire Company for 22 years and then went on to attend Phillips Community College and was awarded a certificate in automotive mechanics.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Leola Baker of 37 years; two daughters Alice Ann Pratt and her husband Herman Lee Pratt Jr. of Moreno Valley, Calif. and Ruby Jewel Herrin of Richmond, Calif.; one son Clarence Baker Jr. and his wife Elizabeth of Chino, Calif.; four grandchildren Ashton Dominique Baker, Orlando Lee Baker, Tonya Renee Baker, and Dupree Marcell Pratt, great-grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.
