FREDDIE BURNS

Funeral services for Freddie Burns Sr., 59, of Lexa will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, 2004 at the Phillips, Lee, Monroe and Desha District Center at Helena Crossing. Burial will be at Oak Grove cemetery in West Helena.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday in the Brown's Home for Funerals chapel in West Helena.

Burns was born March 22, 1945 in Lexa to the late Willie Burns and Mary T. Narvill. He died Oct. 11, 2004.

CHARLENE WILLIAMS

Funeral services for Charlene Williams, 48, of Helena will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 16 at the First Baptist Church in West Helena. The Rev. Nathaniel Hull will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Grove cemetery in West Helena.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Greater Power House Church of God in Christ in West Helena.

Williams, born April 9, 1956 to the late Charlie Williams and Mary L. Starks, died Oct. 9, 2004 at the Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock.

LEE WILLIAMS

Funeral services for Lee "Mane" Williams, 63, of West Helena will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, 2004 at the Phillips, Lee, Monroe and Desha District Center at Helena Crossing. The Rev. Louis Williams will officiate. Burial will be in Jackson Memorial cemetery in the Southland Community.

Williams, born March 22, 1941 in Helena to the late Louis Williams Sr., and Ida Mae Williams, died Oct. 8, 2004.

Visitation will be from, 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the New Zion Church in West Helena.

JACK NORMAN

Funeral services for Jack Norman Jr., 64 of West Helena will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, 2004 at the Second Baptist Church in West Helena. The Rev. Jarvis Smith will officiate. Burial will be at Oak Grove cemetery in West Helena.

Norman, born July 29, 1940 to Jack Norman Sr., and Annie Bell Stenson in Helena, died Oct. 11, 2004.

Browns Home for Funerals will direct services.

TOMMIE STEVENSON

Tommie Stevenson Sr., 84 of West Helena died Oct. 10, 2004.

JOHN D. JONES

John D. Jones, 58, of Helena died Oct. 7, 2004 at Helena Regional Medical Center. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Brown's Home for Funerals.

LEE WILLIAMS

Lee "Main" Williams, 63, of West Helena died Oct. 8, 2004 in a car accident. Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Brown's Home for Funerals.

CHARLENE WILLIAMS

Charlene Williams, 48, of Helena died Oct. 9, 2004 at Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Brown's Home for Funerals.

WILL FRANKLIN

Funeral services for Will Franklin, 34, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, 2004 at the National Funeral Home in Clarksdale, Miss.

Visitation hours are tonight from 6 until 8 p.m.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Michelle, his parents Billy and Andrea Franklin of Rena Lara, Miss., one sister Natalie Franklin Bosier of Memphis, one daughter Brook Franklin and one son Crews Franklin.

REX JONES

Graveside service for Rex Glendon Jones Sr., 59, of West Helena will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, 2004 at Maple Hill cemetery in Helena. Floyd Jones Jr., will officiate.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. this evening at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home.

Jones, born Sept. 8, 1944 in Helena to the late Floyd L. Jones Sr., and Nettye Dale Jones, died Sept. 2, 2004 in Little Rock. He was employed as a sales representative, was a 32nd Degree Mason, Shriner, member of Lafayette Lodge No. 189, was a 1962 graduate of Central High School, attended A.S.U. in Jonesboro and served four years in the U.S. Army.

He leaves his wife Janet Jones of West Helena, a son Capt. Rex Jones Jr., U.S.M.C. and wife, Melisa of Parries Island, S.C.; a granddaughter Brooke Jones of Parries Island, S.C., two brothers Dr. Dwayne Jones of Tulsa, Okla., and Floyd Jones Jr., of Helena.

His parents and a brother Ira Dale Jones Sr. preceded him in death,

Memorials may be made to the Shriners Crippled Children's Hospital in Shreveport, La.

Roller-Citizens Funeral Home will direct services.

RICKY ASHCRAFT

Ricky Ashcraft, 37, of Poplar Grove died Thursday, Sept 2, 2004 at his home in Poplar Grove.

Funreal arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Bob Neal and Sons-Brickell Funeral Home in Marvell.

BETTY C. BROWN

Graveside services for Betty Creson Brown, 74, of rural St. George, Kansas, a former long-time resident of West Helena will be held Friday, Sept. 3, 2004 at Calvary cemetery in Memphis, Tenn. A Rosary will be held Thursday evening at Memphis Fumeral Home, Poplar Ave Chapel.

Brown, born Feb. 21, 1930 in Hickman, Ky., the daughter of Clyde L. and Lexie H. Crawawford Creson, died Aug. 29, 2004 at Mercy Regional Health Center in Manhattan, Kansas. She has lived in the St. George area with her daughter since April of 2002.

She attended Phillips County Community College in Helena. Betty married Rego Thomas Brown on Nov. 5, 1948 in Hernando, Miss. and together they owned and operated a grocery store and small engine repair shop in West Helena. He preceded her in death, Feb. 3, 1987. She was a member of Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Helena and the Saint Mary's Altar Society.

She leaves two daughters, Rose Brown of Wamego, Kansas and Mary Heath and her husband Jerry, St. George; a sister, Jeanette Driver of Fernandino Beach, La., five grandchildren, Candace Adams, and her husband Jim, and Rebecca Albright Wamego, Kansas, Kerry Wuthrich and her husband, Marc and Lynette Richards both of Denver, Colo., John Heath of Killeen, Texas and nine great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Autism/Asperger Syndrone Resource Center in Kansas City and may be sent in care of Stewart Funeral Home, P.O. Box 48, Wamego, KS. 66547.

C.W. FREE

C.W. Free, 76, of Beedeville died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2004 in Searcy. He was born Sept. 10, 1927 in Auvergne, Arkansas, the son of Clyde Wilson Free Sr., and Ethel (Foushee) Free Buford. He married Christine Chumley on Sept. 10, 1952.

Free was a member of the Beedeville Church of Christ. He was custodian of the Beedeville Public Schools and a farmer. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and gardening.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Christine (Chumley) Free on March 11, 1983; his parents; his stepfather, Frank Buford; his stepmother, Nellie Couchin Free; one brother, James Free; two sisters, Juanita Free Ireland Burrow and Grace Adcox Cockrill.

Free is survived by two daughters, Joyce Free Hogan and husband, Randy of West Helena and Linda Free Reynolds and husband, Danny of Beedeville; a half brother, Don Free and wife Sandi of Topeka, Kansas; two stepbrothers, Bill Parks and wife Lou of Newport, B.D. Adcox and wife, Mary Ann of Frederickstown, Mo., one half sister, Dorothy Free Bone and husband Rick of McCrory, a step sister Coletta Parks Jordan of Hanford, Calif., two sisters-in-law, Oleta Free and Judy Free; three grandchildren, Christina Hogan Haney and husband, Mark, of West Helena, Cameron Hogan of West Helena and Ann Reynolds of Beedeville; and one great-grandchild Madison Haney of West Helena.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Beedeville Church of Christ with Dr. Gary Elliott officiating. Interment will be in Eightmile cemetery at Beedeville. Visitation will be from 6 until 9 p.m. Friday at the Jackson's Newport Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Cameron Hogan, Wayne Stephenson, Don Wiggs, Robert Brooks, King Heatherly and Jackie Newman. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Dale Free, Michael Stephenson, Jacob Stewart and Will Heatherly.

Jackson's Newport Funeral Home will direct services.

L.E. KIRKWOOD

Funeral services for Mrs. L.E. Kirkwood, 83, of Flint, Mich., formerly of West Helena will be held a noon Saturday, Aug. 21, 2004 at Springlake Baptist Church in the Southland Community. The Rev. Julious McGruder will officiate. Burial will be at Jackson Memorial cemetery in the Southland Community.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. today at the Church.

Kirkwood died August 8, 2004 in Michigan.

Brown's Home for Funerals will direct services.

JIMMY WARD

Funeral services for Jimmy Lee Ward, 75, of Madison, Wis., formerly of Helena will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, 2004 at the Beautiful Zion M.B. Church in Helena. The Rev. Danny Robinson will officiate. Burial will be at Magnolia cemetery in Helena.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. this evening at Brown's Home for Funerals.

CHESTER POWELL

Funeral services for Chester Franklin Powell, 72, of Ruston, La., were conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2004 at Owens Memorial Chapel in Ruston with the Rev. David Hastings, Bro. Joe Wooten and Bro. Tommy Speights officiating. Interment followed in Forest Lawn Memorial Park cemetery in Ruston under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston.

Powell, born Aug. 23, 1931 in Mellwood, Ark., died Aug. 8, 2004 at Lincoln General Hospital in Ruston. He was a Federal meat inspector with the USDA for 30 years and received seven superior performance awards. Powell was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Vienna, a Mason and past Master of Arcadia Masonic Lodge No. 126, a member of the VFW and a veteran of the Korean War. He traveled to Korea where he attended the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Armistice of the Korean War in July 2003 as an Ambassador of Louisiana.

Powell was preceded in death by his parents, Ruby and Merlin Powell; a sister, Marie Hulsey and a brother, Tommy "Buddy" Wooten.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Marveline Powell of Ruston; two sons Wayne Powell of Belcher, La., and James Powell of Las Vegas, Nev.; a daughter, Lynda Powell of Ruston; two brothers, George Powell of Newport, Ark., and James Powell of Senatobia, Miss., eight grandchildren Dillon Powell, Hunter Powell, Colt Powell, Joey El-Awadi, Matthew El-Awadi, Jeannie El-Awadi, Clint Powell and Conner Powell.

Pallbearers were Jim Andrews, Brooks Bryant, Joey El-Awadi, Matthew El-Awadi, L.P. Sellers, Paul Sellers and Jack Phillips.

Mary Ruth Rainwater Horner

Mary Ruth Rainwater Horner, age 82, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, formerly of Russellville, died Thursday, January 23, 2003 at Winsor Hills Nursing Home.

She was born June 22, 1920 at Tahlequah, Oklahoma and was a daughter of the late Olen E. and Cherokee Johnson Rainwater. She was a retired salesperson, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and had worked with various school systems presenting the American Flag Etiquette Program and Pearl Harbor slide presentations. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, here in Russellville. She was the widow of Ralph N. Farris and Charles H. Horner.

Survivors include a daughter, Susan Gayle Lynn of Couer D Alene, Idaho; a sister, Margaret "Marge" Kyle of Bethany, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Todd Lynn of Mustang, Oklahoma, Kurt Lynn of Vail, Colorado, Don Lynn of Couer D Alene, Idaho, Aaron Lynn of Oklahoma City, and Christen Lynn of Bethany, Oklahoma; 10 great grandchildren.

Graveside service will be 2 P. M., Monday, January 27, 2003 at Tahlequah cemetery. Burial will be under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service.

Memorials may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church, 300 North Cumberland Avenue, Russellville, AR 72801 or the Methodist Children s Home, 2002 South Fillmore, Little Rock, AR 72204, or Wesley Foundation, 1111 North El Paso, Russellville, AR 72801.
