ROSETTER FOREMAN

Funeral services for Rosetter (Rosie) Foreman of Helena will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 14 at the Phillips, Lee. Monroe and Desha District Center at Helena Crossing. Burial will be at Jackson Memorial cemetery in the Southland Community.

Visitation will be from 4:30 p.m. until 6 p.m. Friday at the Center in Helena.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband James Walter Foreman Sr., of Helena; five sons, James and Lena Foreman of Chicago, Ill., Calvin, Lloyd and Marcus Foreman all of Helena, and Bernard Jaye and Glennette Foreman of Baytown, Texas; five daughters, Delois Brown of Chicago, Ill., Thelma Mills of Bolingbrook, Ill., June Carolyn and Douglas of West Helena, Rose Marie Foreman of Jacksonville, and Brenda Kay and Lloyd of Palos Hills, Ill., one granddaughter whom she raised and educated from birth, Michelle Yvette Foreman; 36 grandchildren; 50 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild; a devoted niece who helped care for her during her entire illness, Doris Davis; four brothers-in-law Osie Shaffer of Upper Marlboro, Md., Tommie and Marion Freeman of Helena, Charles Foreman of Compton, Calif., three sisters-in-law Arleen Foreman of Helena, Cora Foreman of Compton, Calif., Stella Mae Bass of Enterprise, Ala., an adopted daughter Arleen and James Wheeler Helena; an adopted granddaughter Adie Minor of Helena and a play sister, Bessie Williams of West Helena, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Stephens Funeral Home will direct services.

VIRGINIA D. TRUEMPER

Graveside services for Virginia D. "Ginny" Truemper, 72, of Wilmington, Del. will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, 2004 at St. Mary's Catholic cemetery in Helena.

Truemper, born Dec. 1, 1931 in Water Valley, Miss., to Carl Bedford Finch and Christine Finch, died Aug. 4, 2004 in Wilmington.

Her husband of 43 years, Joseph T. Truemper, passed away in 1996. Her brother, Clifford Finch and her parents also predeceased her.

She leaves a brother James "Saint" Finch; her sister Margaret; her son Edward T. Truemper and his wife, Mary Jane of Omaha, Neb., her son Timothy C. Truemper and his wife Janice of Salisbury, N.C.; her daughter Connie Truemper of Garwood, N.J. her son, Charles M. Truemper, her son Jon H. Truemper and his wife Antonette of Landsdale, PA., her son James H. Truemper, her son Roger L. Truemper and his wife Stacey of Wilmington, Del., her son, James H. Truemper of Baltimore, MD. her beloved grandchildren, Sarah, Eileen, Kyle, Mathew, Ryan, Madison and Alexa, a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and many close friends.

Memorials may be sent to the Multiple Sclerosis National Society, Delaware Chapter, Two Mill Road, Suite 106, Wilmington, DE 19806.

ANDREW DUNCAN

Funeral services for Elder Andrew Duncan, 90, of Helena will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, 2004 at Greater Power House. Elder Alex Smith will officiate.

Duncan, born Dec. 15, 1913, to the late Mae T. and Perry Duncan of Helena, died, Aug. 8, 2004 at the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences of Little Rock.

He leaves a sister Piezer Jackson, a niece and nephew, and a host of great-great nieces and nephews.

Stephens Funeral Home will direct services.

CHERYL MOONEY

Funeral services for Cheryl Anne Mooney, 48, of Coahoma, Ms. will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 13, 2004 at Sunset Memorial Park. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. until noon Friday.

Mooney, born Apr. 15, 1948 in San Diego, died Aug. 10, 2004 at her residence.

She was a county clerk for soil and water conservation.

She leaves to cherish her memories her husband Robert C. Mooney of Moon Lake, Ms. one sister Vicky Stratton of Serbing, Fl., and one brother Rudy Miller.

Roller Citizens Funeral Home will direct services.

KAREN F. MAY

Graveside services for Karen Ferne May, 52, of Lexa will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Sunset Memorial Park. The Rev. Danny Weatherford will officiate.

May, born Sept. 1, 1952 at Rondo, died Aug. 8, 2004 at her residence in Lexa. She was owner and operator of Miss Scarletts in Helena for 18 years and was a member of the Lambrook Baptist Church.

She leaves her husband Anthony R. May of Lexa; three sons, Barry May, A. Ray May and Nick May all of Lexa; a brother Roger Treat and wife Theresa of Lambrook; her parents Eugene and Morene Treat of Lexa; and a granddaughter Lindsey Brooke of West Helena.

A son Dustin Scott May preceded her in death.

Pallbearers will be Rich K. May, Jim Baker, Michael Schaffhauser, Albert Godfrey, Gary Burks, Rick Griffith and Dillion Burks.

Memorials may be made to Ark. Dept of Health Hospice or to the American Cancer Society.

JAMES P. DIAMOND

Funeral services for James P. Diamond, 80, of Marvell will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2004 at the Marvell United Methodist Church. The Rev. Ted Deweese will officiate. Burial will be at the Cypert cemetery.

Diamond, born Feb. 16, 1924 in Beech Bluff, Tenn., the son of William T. Diamond and Juanita Batchelor Diamond died Aug. 8, 2004 at the Dewitt hospital.

He practiced law in Jackson, Tenn., until he moved to Phillips County. He attended Union University and graduated from Vanderbilt University Law School. He was a member of the Marvell United Methodist Church, Post 1848 Veterans of Foreign Wars in Jackson, Tenn., where he served as Post Commander. Diamond was a World War II Veteran, with the American Division in the northern Solomon Island Campaign, was awarded a Bronze Star and served as Regimental Sergeant Major with the Occupation Forces in Japan.

He leaves a son, James P. Diamond Jr., a daughter, Kathy Diamond Scaife of Marvell; five grandchildren, Jameson Diamond, Alana Diamond Smallwood, Katie Deaton, Bonnie Deaton and Beau Scaife, a great grandson, Drane Smallwood III and one brother William T. Diamond Jr.

Pallbearers will be Otto Melsa, Ralph Wilson, James E. Yancy Jr., and Scott Scaife.

Memorials may be made to the Marvell United Methodist Church or to Youth Town in Jackson, Tenn.

Bob Neal and Sons-Brickell Funeral Home in Marvell will direct services.

STELLA TUGG

Graveside services for Blanca Estella "Stella" Tugg, 43, of Fort Smith formerly of Helena were held at 11 a.m. today at Sunset Memorial Park. The Rev. Ken Chaney officiated.

Tugg, born July 25, 1961 in Helena, died Aug. 10, 2004 at her residence in Fort Smith.

She leaves her father Felix Lucio Cotez of Helena; three brothers Richard Lucio of West Helena, Danny Lucio of Arlington, Texas and Juan Lucio of Collierville, Tenn.; a sister Gloria Lucio of Arlington Texas a niece Suzanna Sanchez; four nephews Jose Acosta, Dale Acosta, Emelio Acosta and Juan Acosta.

Her mother Antonia Hinojosa Lucio and a sister Maria Acosta preceded her in death.

Pallbearers were Danny Lucio, Emelio Acosta, Dale Acosta and Antonio Lucio.

Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in West Helena directed services.

MIRIAM EDMONSON

Funeral services for Miriam Nero Edmonson, 91, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 24 at Watson Temple COGIC. Burial will be at Castell cemetery in Forrest City.

Visitation will be from 1 until 9 p.m. Friday, July 23 at Jackson Highley Funeral Home.

Edmonson, born Jan. 27, 1913 in Atlanta, Ga., died July 18, 2004 at the Helena Regional Medical Center in Helena.

She accepted Jesus as her personal savior at an early age. She was a faithful member of the St. Paul AME Church in Lake View for many years, serving diligently as the church secretary. She was very fond of her "second" pastor Elder James Watson, and when she could no longer make the trip to Lake View, she was united under his pastorate at Watson Temple Church.

Edmonson, known as "Momma", "Aunt Miriam", and "Miriam" was a great proponent of education in deed and inspiration. After graduating from high school in Greenwood, Miss., she furthered her education by receiving a B.S. degree in Home Economics, Library Science, and English from Rust College in Holly Springs, Miss. After a beautiful career of educating children in the Delta, Edmonson retired in 1978. It is to her credit that she was a chartered member of the Arkansas and National Teacher Associations.

Edmonson loved her family. She married her tall dark and handsome sweetheart James A. Edmonson, whom she cared for and loved until his death. They were blessed with five extraordinary children, one of whom, Veronica, preceded them in death.

She leaves to cherish her memory, three daughters: Etta Bland Sr. and her husband Edgar of West Helena, Miriam Brown and her husband Glenn of Pearland, Tex., Bessie Booker of Houston; one son: James Edmonson and his wife Valerie of Langhorne, Pa.; three sisters: Lille Cotton of Chicago; Queen Esther Smith of Memphis; Florence Peterson of Chicago; three brothers: Symiel Tyler Nero of Chicago; Alfonzo Nero and his wife Theresa of Chicago; Walter Evans and his wife Florestine of Memphis: nine grandchildren, 19 great grand-children and a special grand-daughter, Annette Ingram of West Helena, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, friends, and every child that sat in her classroom and was made to feel that they were better than their present and worthy of their future.

VERLIN REEVES

Verlin Erma Neil Rogers, 70, of Searcy, died Wednesday, July 21, 2004.

Mrs. Reeves was born May 20, 1934 at Marshall, Ark. to Dorsey and Ora Marshall. The Searcy Housing Authority employed her. She was a member of the Souls Harbor Church.

She leaves her husband of 55 years, Clifton Reeves of Searcy; two sons, Marlin Reeves of Lexa and Jimmy Reeves of Hernando, Miss.; two daughters, Thelma Kramer of Pontotoc, Miss. and Jean Curtis of Batesville; six sisters, Louise Nall of Canton, Miss., Betty Harrington of Bald Knob, Hazel Lake of Searcy, Angilee Wallis of Big Flat, Charolet Savage of Yukon, Okla., and Mary Ruth Thompson of Bald Knob; two brothers, Ralph Marshall of Mountain View and Willie Marshall of Garner; 15 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dorsey and Ora (Martin) Marshall and brother, Franklin Marshall.

Visitation is scheduled for 5 to 8 p.m. tonight at Roller-Daniel Funeral Home in Searcy. Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Roller-Daniel Funeral Home chapel.

JESSIE ALLEN

A wake and funeral services for Jessie Allen of Memphis will be held at N.J. Funeral Home at 12 Parkway in Memphis.

The wake will be held Monday, July 26 from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 27 at 1 p.m. Burial will be in New Park cemetery.

He leaves by his mother, Annie B. Leggins of West Helena; his wife Lucille Allen; one daughter, Antionette Allen of Memphis; three sisters, Fannie Austin, Annie McCullough and Coretta Williams; three brothers, Joe Allen, James Sommerville, and David Brewer all of Memphis, and a grandson.

ROY BRYANT

Roy Bryant was born to the late Leroy and Priscilla Bryant on Jan. 15, 1924 in Helena. He departed this earthly life on July 19, 2004 at age 80.

Bryant served his country in the U.S. Army. He later found employment wit the city of Helena from which he retired.

Bryant leaves to cherish his memory, two brothers, Shepard (Ersaline) Bryant of West Helena, Jessie Bryant of Helena; a sister, Lebertha Burnett of Chicago, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 25, 2004 at 1 p.m. in the Jackson and Highley Funeral Home chapel in West Helena. Burial will be at Jackson Memorial cemetery in the Southland community.
