SENECA , S.C. - Janice (Jann) Burton Holland, 51 of Seneca, S.C. died Aug. 10, 2003 at Oconee Memorial Hospital in Seneca.
A native of Monticello, Ark., she was the daughter of Jauwice McKnight Stroupe and David Stroupe of Augusta, Ga., and the late Edsel Lee Burton.
Jan was filled with passion and love for the Lord, her family, sewing and for all of life.
He leaves her husband, Keith Holland of Seneca; two sons Jack Holland of Knoxville, Tenn., and William Seth Holland of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; a daughter Micah Holland Neal of Nashville, Tenn., a brother Mike Burton of Little Rock.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15 at the Forest Lawn Chapel with Dr. Jerry Sutton officiating. Burial will follow in Forrest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Friday, Aug. 15, 2003 an hour prior to services at the funeral home.

Funeral services for Benjamin Prowell Sr. 49, of Little Rock, formerly of Marvell, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 24, 2003, at the Mt. Moriah M.B. Church in Marvell. The Rev. Calvin Jackson will officiate. Burial will be at Mt. Moriah cemetery in Marvell.
Visitation will be Saturday, May 31, 2003, at Mt. Moriah Church.
Prowell was born Aug. 17, 1953, to the union of Willie and Clara Mathis Prowell in Marvell. He died May 17, 2003, at his home in Little Rock. He accepted Christ at a young age and joined the St. Luke M.B. Church and remained a faithful member until his death.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Betty Prowell of Little Rock; his father and step-mother, Willie and Jealene Prowell; two daughters and their families, Nina and David White and Tina and Cleo Mills; five sons, David Allen, Marco Prowell, Timothy Whitfield, Kado Prowell Sr. and Benjamin Prowell; four step-sons, Timothy Prowell, Johnnie Carruth Jr., Jonathan Carruth and John Anthony Carruth; four stepdaughters, Jennifer Carruth, Jennie Carruth, Joanna Carruth, and Jamie Carruth; four sisters, Queen and Michael Robinson, Eva and Maurice Woods, Barbara Prowell and Angela Prowell; a brother, Rickey Prowell Sr. and wife Cynthia; and 22 grandchildren and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Gloria Young-Hunt
Funeral services for Gloria Jean Young-Hunt of Memphis, Tenn., formerly of Elaine, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 24, 2003, at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Snow Lake. The Rev. Leroy Carter will officiate. Burial will be at the First Baptist Church cemetery in Elaine.
Hunt was born June 3, 1951, to Bedie Ann Young and Eddie Billington. She accepted Christ at a young age at the Gumwood Baptist Church, and later moved her membership to Precious Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She moved from there to the House of Prayer Church of God In Christ, where she remained until her death May 17, 2003.
She leaves three daughters, Charlotte Green, Eugenia Hunt, and Machunka Hunt of Memphis; three sons, Kendrick Hunt, Christopher Hunt and Courtney Hunt of Memphis; a sister, Marie Wright of Elaine; three brothers, David Young of Crumrod, Charles Thorton of Oneida and George Thorton of Florida; and eight grandchildren, a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends, and a special daughter-in-law, Alexa Rose.

Funeral services for Eugene Kirkwood Sr. 48, of West Helena will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 24, 2003, at the First St. Paul Baptist Church in West Helena. The Rev. Moses Tillman will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Kirkwood, born Jan. 11, 1954, to Rosie Kirkwood and the late Robert Kirkwood in Calico Bottoms community, died May 16, 2003, at his home in West Helena.
He graduated from Barton High School. McKnight Lumber Company in West Helena employed him as a press worker.
Three brothers, Dennis, Kirkwood, Donald Kirkwood and Tommie Kirkwood of West Helena, preceded him in death.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Yvonne Kirkwood; four sons, Kevin Kirkwood, Jeffrey Kirkwood, Eugene Kirkwood Jr. and Jonathan Kirkwood of West Helena; two daughters, Vanessa Kirkwood and Michelle Kirkwood of West Helena; his mother, Rosie B. Stovall, born Dec. 16, 1940, in Helena, died May 21, 2003, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ. She lived in Helena most of her life, moving to Walnut Ridge three months ago.
She leaves her husband, Dale Stovall Sr. of Walnut Ridge; a son, Dale Stovall Jr. of Tyler, Texas; her mother, Frances Thrower Eames of Clarksville, Tenn.; a brother, Sherman B. Eames of McCray; a sister, Diane Crabb of Clarksville, Tenn.; six grandchildren, Abbigail, Adam, Stephen, Samantha, Stephanie and Tracey; and two step-great-grandchildren all of Tyler, Texas.
Her father, Sherman J. Eames, and a brother preceded her in death.

JENNIE B. GLORIOSO
Funeral services for Jennie B. Glorioso, 89, of Helena will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 1, 2003 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Helena. Father Ed Graves will officiate. Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic cemetery in Helena.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday evening with Rosary at 7 p.m. at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home.
Glorioso, born July 28, 1914 in Deridder, La., died Aug. 6, 2003 in Griffin, Ga. She was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church and member of the Ladies of St. Mary's.
She leaves a son Vincent Glorioso of Helena; two daughters Mary Virginia Michelle of St. Louis, Mo., and Frances Dunham of Griffin, Ga., two brothers Dr. Michael Baistrella and Morris Balistrella of Shreveport, La., four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Joseph Balistrella, Jason Person, Eric Person, Joe St. Columbia Jr., Sam Elardo, Nunzio Messina, and Sammy Charles Brocato. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Knights of Columbus.

ARLEASE SMITH
Funeral services for Arlease James-Smith, 78, of West Helena will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 11, 2003 at the Carter Chapel A.M.E. Church in Helena. Burial will be at Jackson Memorial cemetery in the Southland Community.
Smith, born June 27, 1925 in Ferguson to Vezetter and Grace Foote, died Aug. 4, 2003.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 10, 2003 at the chapel of Jackson and Highley Funeral Home in West Helena.
She confessed a hope in Christ at a young age, and was a member of St. Matthew A.M.E. church, and was a faithful member until her health failed.
She was a loyal employee of Hoffinger Industry for 35 years and worked in Customer Service at the time of her retirement. Smith was a kind and loving person, always helping others and was a devoted mother and grandmother.
She united in marriage with Nathan James and to their union five children were born. She was later united in marriage to Shed Smith. Both James and Smith preceded her in death, as did a daughter Lola Greer.
She leaves to cherish her memory three sons and their families, Orville and Lela James of Ferguson, Mo., Jordan James and Lloyd and Ella James of Helena; a daughter and son-in-law Patricia and Kent Smith of Little Rock; a sister, Lola Whitaker of West Helena; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a great great grandchild.

KORTNEY ROSS
Funeral services for Kortney Tasheed Ross, 25, of Little Rock will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003, at the Phillips, Lee, Monroe and Desha District Center at Helena Crossing. The Rev. James H. Turner and the Rev. Kevin Kelly will officiate. Burial will be at the Morning Star cemetery in Elaine.
Ross, born June 15, 1978, in Little Rock, died July 27, 2003, at St. Vincent's Infirmary in Little Rock.
He began his early education at Lake View Elementary School and graduated from J.A. Fair High School in Little Rock. He attended the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, Phillips Community College and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
Phifer Camp for at risk youths employed him as a counselor; he was a member of the Arkansas Chapter of Sickle Cell Anemia Foundation and also volunteered at the Arkansas Children's Hospital and educated small children about Sickle Cell. He loved outdoor life and animals.
He received and confessed his salvation as a young man at the Gumwood Baptist Church in Ratio under the leadership of the late Rev. P.L. Perkins. His grandfather, the late Rev. L.C. Gamble Sr. baptized him. l He united with Second Baptist Church in Little Rock under the leadership of the Rev. Kevin Kelly.
He leaves to cherish his memory his parents Clarence and Alice Ross of Little Rock; four brothers and their families, Chiron and Barbara Ross, Jamel Ross and Korji Ross of Little Rock, Keavin and Brenda Ross of Blue Island, Ill.; four sisters Shelia McGee and Cassandra McGee of Milwaukee, Wis. Charnell Ross of Atlanta, Ga., and Ashton Ross of Little Rock; two grandmothers Odessa Gamble of Chicago and Evangelist Dorother Gamble of West Helena and a host of other relatives and friends.
A sister Katonya; his paternal grandparents, Jacob and Maggie Ross; his maternal grandfather the Rev. L.C. Gamble Sr., all preceded him in death.
