Memorial services for Marcus Jeffery Tate Jr., the infant son of Victoria Ward and Marcus Tate Sr. of West Helena, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003 at Brown's Home for Funerals.
The infant died July 27, 2003 at Helena Regional Medical Center.
Along with his parents he leaves his grandparents Lucille Ward and Carley Tate of West Helena and a host of cousins and friends.

Funeral services for Dorether Hoskins, 66, of Helena will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003 at the Beautiful Zion Baptist Church at 218 Ponotoc St., in Helena. The Rev. E.T. Moore will officiate. Burial will be at Magnolia cemetery in Helena.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Beautiful Zion Church.
Hoskins, born Feb. 28, 1937, to Fannie Bates Ferguson and the late Lee Bates in Tallulah, La., died July 27, 2003, at St. Vincent's Infirmary in Little Rock.
She confessed faith in Christ in 1952 at the Point Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. W.L. Debro.
She was united in marriage to the late James Dennis on Sept. 28, 1952; to their union two daughters were born Opal and Birdie.
She joined St. Mary's No. 2 Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. P.C. Claiborne, where she served on the usher board. She was a faithful member of the church until her illness left her homebound.
Hoskins leaves to cherish her memory, her mother Fannie Ferguson of West Helena; two daughters Opal and Cornelious Littlejohn of Helena, Birdie Dennis Knowlton of West Helena; a granddaughter Ashley Garrett of Pine Bluff; five brothers and six sisters, Minnie Bates of Madison, Wis., Manervia and Lee Otis Banks of Helena, Cora Bell and W.T. Brown of Madison, Wis., Ethel Bates and Willie Mae Bailey of West Helena, George Ferguson of St. Paul, Minn., Sidney Ferguson of Detroit, Mich., Andrew Ferguson of Cleveland, Ohio, Patricia and John Ivory of West Helena, Jessie Ferguson of Madison, Wis., and Stanley Ferguson of West Helena and a host of nephews, nieces and friends.
Two brothers, Herbert Bates and Raleigh Bates, preceded her in death.

HOLLY GROVE - Funeral services for Rillie Rosena Taylor McKissic, 87, of Holly Grove will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 6, 2003, at the New Zion Baptist Church near Marvell. Burial will be in the Mt. Union cemetery in Blackton.

McKissic, born Nov. 9, 1915, at Postelle, died June 1, 2003, at Helena Regional Medical Center.
She was the third of four siblings born to Johnny and Pearly Fitzchew-Taylor. Her siblings Joe Willie, Nora and John Wesley Taylor all preceded her in death as did her parents, and husband Mack McKissic, whom she married
at an early age.
She confessed a hope in Christ at an early age and became a member of Mt. Union Church of God in Christ and later joined New Zion M.B. Church and remained a member there until her death. She served as secretary of the Sunday school for many years. She loved singing, was an active member of the choir and sang with many gospel groups during her lifetime.
She was a member of the Sacred Order of the Eastern Stars and served as matron for 20 years and was also a member of the Previous Jewel Chapter.
She leaves to cherish her memory, a daughter, Fannie M. Fields; two sons, Mack and Marty McKissic, and John and Vikki Taylor; two granddaughters, Jenny V. Cumington and Valeriea Jean and Walter Cannon, 15 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, who was as close as a sister, Johnnie Mae McKissic of Minneapolis, Minn.; and a host of relatives, friends and her church family whom she loved very much.

Funeral services for Donald L. (Don) Abel, 69, of Lexa were held at 1 p.m., Friday June 20, 2003 at the West Helena United Methodist Church. The Rev. David Crouch officiated. Burial was at Maple Hill cemetery in Helena.
Visitation was held Thursday night at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home.
Abel, born Dec. 8, 1933, in Hughes to the late James Ross Abel and Ida Lee Crouch Abel, died June 19, 2003, in Helena.
He was the retired service manager for West Horner Motor Company in Helena and a member of the Lexa Methodist Church. He was a Mason.
He leaves a daughter Tracy Abel Ledgess of Oologah, Okla., two nieces, a nephew and several family members and friends.
His wife Ernestine Abel preceded him in death on June 13, 2003.
Pallbearers were Arnie Fraze, Joe Smith, Mal Stokes, Brian Summerhill, Randy Ward and Ricky Wheeler. Honorary pallbearer was Lester Helton.

Amos, born Jan. 19, 1936 to the late Finimon Wynn and Magnolia Wiley Wynn, died June, 16, 2003 at St. Vincent's Infirmary in Little Rock.
Missionary Amos confessed a hope in Christ at an early age at the St. Paul Church of God in Christ, under the leadership of Pastor Wiley Johnson.
She united in marriage to the late Ervin Dillard Amos Sr. on March 16, 1954. To their union 10 children were born, five of which preceded her in death. She was a member of the Clarendon C.O.G.I.C. under the leadership of Pastor McArthur Dismuke until her health failed. She served in several capacities of the church, as church missionary, Sunday school superintendent, Bible band president, chairman of the anniversary committee and as a Sunday school teacher for Class One.
Her husband, parents, a son, two sisters and a brother also preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her memory, four daughters, Carmanetta Sain, Florence, Angela and Loretta Amos all of Clarendon; a son, Ervin Dillard Amos Jr., of Clarendon; four sisters-in-law, Erma Robinson of Chicago, Ill., Ruthie Tyree and Mary Abston of Clarendon, Sharon Amos of Brinkley; 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
