Allen, who was born Sept. 25, 1953 to the late Edward Allen and Jeanette Henderson Allen, died Thursday, Sept. 4, 2008 in Helena-West Helena.
He leave his wife, Sherry Ingram Allen of Helena-West Helena; his mother, Jeanette Allen of Mena; a daughter, Tahra Allen of Helena-West Helena; a son, Edward Allen of Helena-West Helena; a stepson, Dylan Bryan of Jonesboro; two sisters, Laura Allen of Hot Springs and Kathy Livingston and husband, Jeff of Helena-West Helena; two brothers, Larry Allen of Pine Bluff and Billy Allen of Mena; a half-brother, David Steele and wife, Teri of Portland, Ore. and numerous nieces and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers were Larry Allen, Billy Allen, Chris Lankford, Jeffrey Livingston, Josh Livingston, Jeff Livingston, Jerry Weaver and Daniel Parker.

Connaway, born Nov. 10, 1912 in Helena to the late D.G. Walker and the late Annie Lorena Bolick Walker, died Thursday, Aug. 28, 2008 in Helena.
Lorena was a member of St. John s Episcopal Church and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She taught Latin in the Helena School System and worked as a federal circuit clerk. She also worked for Walker Insurance Co. and for First Savings and Loan.
She leaves a daughter, Anne C. Pope of Sugarland, Texas; a son, John M. Connaway of Helena; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Her parents, her husband, U.S. Navy Commander Fred Connaway; two sisters; and a brother preceded her in death.

Guy William Clay, Sr.
Helena-West Helena, Ark. - Guy William Clay, Sr., 87, of Marianna died Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008 in Helena.
Guy was born on July 1, 1921 in Waynesboro, Tenn. to Isaac Ulie and Lillie Gallaher Clay.
Following time in the Army during WWII, he moved his family to California where he was employed with Bectel Construction Co. for 20 years. After returning to Marianna, he worked as a residential carpenter, re-modeling for a living.
Guy leaves daughters, Cindy Taylor and husband, Robert of Marianna and Barbara Helton and husband, Roy of Lexa; sons, Guy William Bill Clay, Jr. and wife P.J. of Conway and Russ Clay and wife Susan of Marianna; sister Era Haston of Sherwood; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Mary Jane, and his parents, Isaac and Lillie Clay.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16 in Roller-Citizens Chapel in Marianna with burial following at Marianna Memorial Park.

Hamilton, born Oct. 22, 1927 in Marvell to the late Leon and Leanna Boyd, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008 at her home.
She was converted at an early age and joined the Mt. Moriah Church in Marvell.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Leanna Boyd; her husband of 62 years, Arthur Hamilton; a son, Johnny Hamilton; four brothers, Theotis Boyd, Austin Boyd, Predell Boyd and Nathaniel Boyd; a sister, Bernice Starnes; three sisters-in-law, Laura Boyd, Earnice Boyd, Ollie Mae Boyd; and a brother-in-law, C.B. Starnes.

Washington, born Feb. 22, 1945 to the late Rev. Johnny B. and Alberta Washington died Aug. 23, 2008.
Lennie grew up in Helena-West Helena where she attended Eliza Miller High School. She gave her life to the Lord at an early age at Second Baptist Church in West Helena. She married
James Marshal in 1963 and they had six children. They moved to St. Louis and later to Waukeegan, Ill.
Lennie loved to cook and had a passionate love for her family. She was the loving mother of Sandra Faye (Antwoine) Bates, Anthony Marshall, Carlos Marshall, Angela Marshall, Marcus Marshall, Michael Marshall, and Corey Marshall. She was a health care professional for many years and retired from Rolling Hills Manor.
She is survived, cherished and will be remembered by her special friend, Calvin Fondren; her children, her brothers and sister, Timothy Washington, Melvin Washington, Johnny (Jenette) Washington and Berida (Leroy) Williams; 21 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her neighborhood children; her uncle, aunts, nieces, nephews; and a host of cousins and friends.
A son, Anthony Marshall, her parents, Rev. Johnny B. and Alberta Washington and a brother, Cleburn Washington preceded her in death.

William J. Norwood
Helena-West Helena, Ark. - William J. Norwood, 76, of Holly Grove died Friday, Aug. 29 2008 at Stuttgart Regional Medical Center. He was born in the Ragtown community on Sept. 11, 1931 to William Joseph Norwood and Ethel Newman Norwood. He worked for Mohawk Tire and Rubber Co. and was an outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed socializing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and by a daughter, Sherry June Norwood.
He leaves two sons, Edward Norwood of Helena and Jerry Norwood and wife, Lisa of Scott Air Force Base, Ill.; a daughter, Judy Tipton and husband, Donnie of Clarendon; and two grandchildren, Cody and Ashley Norwood.

Helena-West Helena, Ark. - Carolyn Wright, 88, of Helena died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008 in Helena with her children by her side. Mrs. Wright was born June 29, 1920 in Carrollton, Mo. to the late Frank T. McQueen and the late Bille Rice McQueen.
She was an assistant librarian at Central High School and worked for Economy Drug in Helena. She was a supporter of the Phillips County Chapter of Lions Club World Vision Aid. She was a member of St. John s Episcopal Church in Helena.
She leaves her son, Bob Wright Jr., and wife, Vivian, of Helena; daughters, Beth Bullard and husband, Commie of Searcy and Susan Shields of Little Rock; five grandchildren, 10 great- grandchildren; two nieces; and three nephews.
