Helena-West Helena, Ark. - Funeral services for Emma J. (Thompson) Williams, 96, of Helena-West Helena will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008 at the Watson Temple Church of God in Christ. Burial will be in Oak Grove cemetery, Helena-West Helena.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Watson Temple Church.
Williams, born Oct. 22, 1911 to Robert Thompson and Ella Gordon Thompson in Lee County, was one of five children born to the Thompson s, all of who preceded her in death. Mother Williams made her transition to bright glory on the morning of Sept. 23, 2008 in Alton, Ill.
In 1928 she was married
to Robert Lee Williams and 13 children were born to their union. Five preceded her in death.
She confessed a hope in Christ at the age 14 and was baptized into the Baptist faith. In 1973, she joined the Watson Temple Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Superintendent James Watson. She served on the Usher Board and later the Mothers Board. She worked as a sitter at Helena Hospital until her retirement.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory, three sons, Pedro (Suk Won) Williams of Moreno, Calif., Theodore (Pearlean) Williams and Lawrence Williams of Helena-West Helena; five daughters, Lois Marshal, Janet Casey, Ellen Williams, all of Alton, Ill., Loretta Selmon of Washington Park, Ill. and Martha Barns of Chicago; 28 grandchildren, two of whom preceded her in death and a host of great, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

Helena-West Helena, Ark. - Memorial services for Ruthie M. Hurd-Lowery, 80, of Holly Grove will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight in the Robert Lee Brown Memorial Chapel. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008 in the Pine City cemetery in Pine City.
Lowery, born July 17, 1928 in Pine City to the late Beecher and Tennessee Hurd, died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008 in Holly Grove.
She married
Arthur Lowery on Aug. 6, 1956 and to their union 13 children were born. Her husband, her parents and two sisters and a brother preceded her in death.

Lowery of Marvell, Harvey (Lateka) Lowery of Pine City, Steve (Annie) Lowery of Searcy, Lonnie Lowery of Clarendon, Donne (Stacey) Lowery of Pine City; 44 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Ester Johnson of Memphis and Theresa (C.J.) Jackson of Holly Grove; a host of nieces and nephews; a very special niece, Genois Wilson; three goddaughters, Sharonda Piggee, Marie Young and Anna Aguilar; a godson, Lenell Posley of Flint, Mich.; special friends, Cleaster Gaines, Katherine Hayden, Bertha Lee Johnson, Myrtle Brown, Melvin Stewart, Irma Coleman, Helen Jackson, Jimmiesha Palmer; and many more relatives and friends.

Helena-West Helena, Ark. - Funeral service for Mike J. Etoch Jr., 71, of Helena will be held 10 a.m. today at St. Mary s Catholic Church in Helena with Father Joe Marconi officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary s Catholic cemetery in Helena.
Visitation and Rosary services were held Monday at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home.
Etoch, born June 4, 1937 in Helena to the late Michael Joseph and Adele Kathryn Etoch, died Sunday, Oct. 5, 2008 at Helena Regional Medical Center.
Etoch served as Helena s city attorney for eight years. He graduated from the University of Arkansas for his undergraduate degree and graduated from University of Texas with a Juris Doctorate degree.
He leaves his wife, Hedy Etoch of Helena; three sons, Michael J. Etoch III and wife, Michelle of Helena, Louis A. Etoch and wife, Ida of Helena and Steven W. Etoch and wife, Fran of Louisville, Ky.; two daughters, Adele Etoch Lucas and Amy Knight and husband, Vaughn, of Fayetteville; three sisters, Barbara Everhart of Houston, Texas, Kathryn Lore of Knoxville, Tenn. and Jean Etoch of Helena; and 14 grandchildren.
A grandson, Louis Anthony Etoch and his parents, Michael Joseph and Adele Kathryn Etoch, preceded him in death.

Helena-West Helena, Ark. - Graveside services for Hot Rogers, 71, of Cherokee Village will be held 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 13, 2008 at Sunset Memorial Park in Helena- West Helena.
Rogers, born Jan. 11, 1937 in Holly Grove to the late Delmar and Mary Rogers, died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008 at Fulton County Medical Hospital in Salem.
He was a veteran of the Marine Corps and was retired from Masco Helicopter Service Corp.
A son, Terry Rogers, preceded him in death.
He leaves a daughter, Christine Bollinger of Lafayette, La.; three stepsons, Eric Snelling and Brian Snelling of Lafayette and Chris Blackburn of Dallas, Texas; two sisters, Bertha Stoner of Holly Grove and Frances Peterson of Wyoming; and five grandchildren.

Eugene Wiggins
Helena-West Helena, Ark. - Eugene Wiggins of Lexa died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2008 at his home at age 51.
He was born on Aug. 31, 1957 in Hughes to Roy and Elvira Loya Wiggins. He married
Sharri Graham in June 1979. For 35 years, Eugene made a living as a farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Sharri of Lexa; sons Kevin Wiggins and Chad and wife Amber Wiggins; and daughter Elizabeth Wiggins, all of Lexa.
His father, Roy Wiggins; a son, Gary Wiggins; and a niece, Kimberly Amos, preceded Eugene in death.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1 in Roller-Citizens chapel in Marianna. Burial will follow in Oak Grove cemetery near Moro.
Visitation will be in the chapel on Tuesday, Sept. 30 from 6 to 8 p.m.
Robert Owen Alexander

Alexander, born April 18, 1943 in Helena-West Helena to Marion Melvin and the late Robert Owens Alexander, died Sunday, Oct. 5, 2008 surrounded by his family and friends.
Robert was a hard-working man who enjoyed helping people and making them laugh. He loved his family dearly.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Becky Alexander of Helena-West Helena; a nephew, Kelson Franklin of Helena-West Helena; a niece, Alidia Alexander of Horn Lake, Miss.; two sons, Robert Alexander Jr. of Little Rock, Earnest (Debbie) of Omaha, Neb.; a daughter, Elizabeth Thornton of Kissimmee, Fla.; his parents, Curtis and Marion Melvin of Helena-West Helena; two sisters, Carolyn Knowlton (Joe Lee) of Helena-West Helena and Angenette Jones (Charley) of Broken Arrow, Okla.; a brother, Patrick Alexander (Irene) of Milwaukee, Wis.; 25 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, cousins; and two special friends that were always there for him, Leon Parker and John (Mickey) Baine.

Helena-West Helena, Ark. - Floyd Dennis Brown, 52, of Jonesboro died Tuesday at St. Bernard s Medical Center.
One son, Dennis Keith Brown of Elaine; three daughters, Amy Schwantz of Lexa, Cheryl Moore of Marion and Dana Dailey of Helena; two sisters, Penny Pankey and Gail Brown of Jonesboro; his mother, Katherine Brown, and three grandchildren, Delaney Schwantz, Carter Moore, and William Joseph Dailey, survive him.
Services will be in Emerson Memorial Chapel at 2 p.m. Friday with burial to follow in Pine Hill cemetery. Brad Guest will officiate. Pallbearers will be David Schwantz, Justin Dailey, Tyler Moore, Keith Etter, Daniel Pankey, and Charles Penley.

Freeman Corneluis Cartwright

Cartwright, born Sept. 5, 1961 to Freeman and Earlie Mae Cartwright in Holly Grove, was called home Sept. 19, 2008 after a long battle with illness.
Freeman graduated from Holly Grove High School and after high school he moved to Pine Bluff where he secured employment with Vaco Steel.
On Sept. 20, 1981 he married
Sandy Allen and enjoyed 27 wonderful years of marriage. Four children were born to their union.
