Stan Cobb

Barton/Lexa, Ark. - A praise service for Stan Cobb, 51, of Lexa will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at the Second Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Ingomar cemetery at Ingomar, Miss. Rev. Phillip Miller will officiate.

Cobb, born July 18, 1956 in New Albany, Miss. to the late J.B. and Opal Garrett Cobb, died Monday, June 23, 2008 at his home.

He was a member of Second Baptist Church in Helena-West Helena and taught school at Eliza Miller Junior High School for 10 years and at Barton High School for 19 years.

He leaves his wife, Vicki McCown Cobb of Lexa; two daughters, Rachel Lynn Cobb of Indianola, Miss. and Marietta Dean Cobb of Lexa; his brothers and sisters and their spouses, Cary and Wilma Cobb, and Ricky and Patty Cobb of New Albany, Miss., Marilyn and Tom Whiteside of Calico Rock, Vivian and Dan Bennett of New Albany, Pat and Billy Pannell of Tupelo, Miss. and Brenda and Wayne Baggett of New Albany; two sisters-in-law, Clare Cobb of Corinth, Miss. and Brenda Cobb of New Albany; his father-in-law, Earl McCown Jr., of Cleveland, Miss.; and a host of nieces and nephews and a special friend, David Tinsley of Slocum, Ala.

His parents; two brothers, Hays and Benny Cobb, and a nephew, Brian Wayne Cobb preceded him in death.

Pallbearers will be Trey Steiner, Kent Clemons Jr., Nathan Young, John Michael Young, Cody Miller, Thomas Albert and Patrick Hardy. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of the Second Baptist Church.

Roller-Citizens Funeral Home will direct services.

Norma Jean (Harrell) Crews

Helena-West Helena, Ark. - Graveside services for Norma Jean (Harrell) Crews of West Helena formerly of Piggott will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home in Piggott.

Visitation will be at 10 a.m. today at the Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home in Piggott.

Her husband, Dencial E. Crews and her parents, Walter and Thelma Harrell preceded her in death.

She leaves her three children, Denny Michael Crews of Louisville, Ky., Sherry Gunn and husband, Charles of West Helena and Lisa Wilkerson and husband, Roger of Rowlett, Texas; three brothers and two sisters, William (Bill) Harrell and wife, Beth of Las Cruces, N.M., Howard Harrell and wife, Shirley of San Antonio, Texas, Mary Howell and husband, Jim of Greenfield, Indiana, Rex Hartwell and wife, Judy of Henderson, Nev., and Roma Potts and husband, Ray of Bartlett, Tenn. She was blessed to have three grandchildren, Rachel Hedge, Jamie Gunn, and Eric Wilkerson and two great grandchildren, Kayla and Carson Haedge.

Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home in Piggott will direct services.

Elizabeth Sophia Glassco

Helena-West Helena, Ark. - Elizabeth Sophia Glassco, 94, beloved wife of the late Gurley Eugene Glassco, went home to be with her Lord, June 23, 2008 in Windsor, Va.

She was born March 5, 1914 to the late Robert Eli Rodden and Bessie Cecil Wood in Phillips County. She had nine brothers and sisters, Georgie, Willy, Reaba, James, Daphne, Charles, Cornelia, Mary and Pauline.

She leaves her four children; son, Chuck Glassco and wife, Linda; daughter, Margret Sadler and husband, Don; son, Bruce Glassco and wife, Liz and son, Earl Glassco and wife Harriet; grandchildren, Karen, Steven, Kimberly, Alissa, Chrystal, Michael, Deonna, Edward, Dyane, Tim, Renae, Shonna, Brian and Elizabeth; 32 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great grandchildren.

She served as a faithful member of Bethel Assembly of God Church in Suffolk, Va. She will be remembered for the legacy of love she left with everyone whose life touched hers. Her family and so many friends have been blessed for having known her and we will miss her greatly.

A graveside service for Mrs. Glassco will be held 10 a.m. Monday, July 7, 2008 at Smalley cemetery in Marvell. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Roller-Citizens.

Memorial may be made to the Windsor Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 636, Windsor, Va., 23487.

Gloria Thomas Dunbar

Clarksdale, MISS - Gloria Thomas Dunbar, 71, of Clarksdale, Miss., died Saturday, June 21, 2008, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis.

She graduated from Clarksdale High School and attended Mississippi University for Women. She was a retired mortgage loan officer with Realty Mortgage Co. and was a member of the Clarksdale Planning Commission.

She leaves two sons, Earl Bradley Mayers of Cherokee, N.C William B. Mayers III and wife, Tina of Austin, Texas; two grandsons, Taylor Mayers and Andrew Mayers of Waco, Texas; a brother, Rodney Thomas and wife, Beverly of Clarkdale; three sisters, Joyce Bennett and husband, Ronald of Clarksdale, Nancy Corder and husband, Bo of Helena-West Helena and Jane Stewart and husband, Les of Tucson, Ariz.

Her parents, E.W. and Lucy Thomas of Clarksdale preceded her in death.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude s Children s Hospital, the American Cancer Society or the charity of the donor s choice.

Visitation will be at 10 a.m. today at the Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale.

Luvenea Banks

Marvell, Ark. - Funeral services for Luvenea Banks, 72, of Marvell will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 5, 2008 at the New Hope M.B. Church in Marvell. Rev. Otha Bush will officiate. Burial will be at Lone Valley cemetery in Marvell. Banks, born Dec. 12, 1935 in Marvell to the late Isaiah and Irene Banks died June 27, 2008 at Helena Regional Medical Center.

She confessed a hope in Christ at an early age and fellowshipped with the New Hope M.B. Church.

She leaves to cherish her memory, a daughter Gilda Ann Banks; five sisters, Eula Gines, Mary Murrel, Luberta Hoskins, Earnestine Williams, all of Marvell and Martha Tate of Chicago, Ill.; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Iriah and Irene Bank; three brothers, Willie Lee, Herbert and Lonester Banks; four sisters, Earlene Henderson, Sarah Dyon, Pearline and Fannie Bell; nephew, Ernest Hoskins and one niece, Ella Gene Banks.

Bob Neal and Sons-Brickell Funeral Home in Marvell will direct services.

A repast will be held at the old Tate High School in Marvell.

Sidney Bubba Alice Jr.

Helena-West Helena, Ark. - Funeral services for Sidney Bubba Alice Jr., 56, of Helena will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at the United Pentecostal Church in Helena- West Helena. Rev. Kenneth Harmon will officiate. Burial will in Loughridge cemetery at Colt.

Alice, born Oct. 11, 1951 in White County to the late Sidney Alice Sr. and Carrie Belle Dunivan Alice, died Friday, June 20, 2008 at The MED in Memphis from injuries he received after being struck by an auto last Wednesday morning.

He leaves his wife, Imogene Dunivan of Helena; a son, John Alice and wife, Carolyn of Sherwood; a daughter, Lenora Thomas and husband, George of Helena; grandchildren, Amanda Neal of Sherwood, Clarence Bubba Allen of Stuttgart, Tamara Thomas, Austin Brent Thomas and Cailey Thomas, all of Helena; great grandchildren, Brittney Neal and Michael Neal of Sherwood and Austin Dakota Allen of Hazen; two brothers, Vernon Alice of Helena-West Helena and Donald Timothy Alice of Blytheville; six sisters, Bernice Smith of Helena, Frances Morelock of Boaz, Ala., Betty Jo Wright of Olive Branch, Miss., Martha Grigsby of Helena-West Helena, Linda Cusack of Conway and Carrie Alice of Houston, Miss.

His parents, and a sister, Ruth Ann Alice preceded him in death.

He was a member of the United Pentecostal Church and had been employed by the city of Helena-West Helena for over eight years.

Pallbearers will be John Alice, Michael Neal, Billy Wilkerson, Ben Casarez, Tim Milam and Cpl. Darrel Winston. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren and great grandchildren and all city employees.

Roller-Citizens Funeral will direct the services.

Earnestine Harris

Marvell, Ark. - Funeral services for Earnestine Harris, 80, of Marvell will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 5, 2008 at the First St. Mark M.B. Church in Palmer with the Rev. U. Duncan officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mark cemetery in Marvell. Visitation will be Friday, July 4, 2008 from 5-7 p.m. at the Robert Lee Brown Memorial Chapel.

Harris was born on April 14, 1928 in Holly Grove to the late Mose Henderson and Louise Pixico.

Harris accepted Christ at an early age at the Mt. Moriah M.B. Church under the leadership of Rev. E.R. Gaines. She met Roy Harris, Sr. and married on March 28, 1946, and joined the St. Mark M.B. Church also under the leadership of Rev. E.R. Gaines. She also served as an usher until her health failed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Harris, Sr.; a daughter, Mozella Taylor; a sister, Leomina Williams; two brothers, Joseph and Allen Henderson and a very special grandson, Alex Harris.

She departed this life on Tuesday, June 24, 2008.

Her precious memory will be cherished by her family and loved ones, three daughters, Mary Jackson(Cleveland), Zella Hall (Obdie) both of Marvell, Betty Jean Piggee (Willie Joe) of Clarendon; two sons, Allen Harris (Maxine) of Postelle, Roy Harris, Jr. (Aline) of Stuttgart; three special grandchildren, Betty Lee (Willie), Timmy Harris, and Marcella Clark; twenty-four grandchildren, and twelve great- great grandchildren; two sisters, Elnora Dawkins of Marvell, Hattie Ray Smith of Kansas City, MO.; a brother, John Henderson of Kansas City, MO; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Brown s Home for Funerals, Inc. will direct the services.

Isaac Anderson

Helena-West Helena, Ark. - Funeral services for Isaac Anderson, 63, of Helena, Arkansas will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 5, 2008 at the First Baptist Church, 905 Walnut St. in Helena, with the Rev. Derrick Hughes officiating. Burial will follow in the Jackson Memorial Gardens near Lexa. Visitation will be Friday, July 4, 2008 from 5-7 p.m. at the Robert Lee Brown Memorial Chapel.

Anderson was born on August 6, 1944 in Helena to the late Isaac Anderson, Sr. and Mary Anderson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son; Verdell Anderson.

He departed this life on Friday, June 27, 2008 in Helena.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife, Sadie Anderson of Helena, ; four sons, Michael (Kimberly) Speed of Dallas, Texas, Raymond, Sherman, and Gary Anderson of Helena; two daughters, Anita (Michael) Hoskins of Helena and Brenda (Charles) Clayton of Jacksonville and twelve grandchildren; two sisters, Verna Louise Anderson and Alzer Lee Bates of Cleveland, Ohio and one brother, Eddie B. Anderson of Detroit, MI.

He also leaves a host of other relatives and friends.

Brown s Home for Funerals, Inc. will direct the services.

Virginia Smith Calloway

Holly Grove, Ark. - Virginia Smith Calloway, 86, died Wednesday. She was born in Corning on July 15, 1922 to the late Tezzie and Dorcas Smith.

After meeting her future husband, the late Rudolph Calloway, they settled in Holly Grove and he established a successful farming business. Virginia was an active member of the Holly Grove United Methodist Church, an officer in the Holly Grove Women s Club and a member of The Committee of 100. She possessed a great sense of humor, an out-going personality and could light up the room wherever she was. She loved social gatherings, was an excellent bridge player, and enjoyed thoroughbred racing and playing golf.

Virginia leaves a daughter, Sue and husband, Dr. John Mathews of Helena; sons Jerry Calloway and wife Rose of Overland Park, Kansas, Doug Calloway and wife Janet of Holly Grove; four grandsons, Dr. Steven Mathews and wife Tammy of Hot Springs, Jason Calloway and wife Shannon of Overland Park, Kansas, Michael Calloway and wife Erin of Houston, Texas, Ben Calloway and wife Courtney of North Little Rock; two granddaughters, Stephanie Wildman and husband Rev. Patrick of Leawood, Kansas, Jill Valentine and husband Matt of Hot Springs, and nine great- grandchildren. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today, Bob Neal & Sons-Brickell Funeral Home, Marvell.

Services will be Saturday 10:30 a.m. at the Holly Grove Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in Macedonia cemetery at Holly Grove. At her request, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Mildred Katholeen Williams

Helena-West Helena, Ark. - Funeral services for Mildred Katholeen Williams, 73, of Helena-West Helena will be held at 11 a.m. today, Friday, Nov. 21, 2008 in the Roller-Citizens Funeral Home chapel with Brother Audie Richardson officiating. Burial will be in Central cemetery near Lexa.

Williams, born May 6, 1935 in Hillsboro, Ala. to the late Arthur C. Terry and Bessie L. O Reilly Terry, died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008 at her home. She was a wonderful mom with a great heart.

She leaves three sons, Ricky Williams and wife, Donna of Sheldon, Iowa, Terry Williams and wife, Mary, and Michael Williams and wife, Dorothy, all of Helena-West Helena; a daughter, Debbie Henry of Helena-West Helena; 12 grandchildren; 17 great- grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, including Bessie Jean Parker and husband, Huel, of Helena-West Helena.

Her husband, Eddie B. Williams, and her brothers and sisters preceded her in death.

Pallbearers will be T. J. Knuckles, Jimmy Williams, Michael Williams Jr., Marshell Adams, Michael Henry and Jason Robertson. Honorary pallbearer will be Ryan Maasdam.

Roller-Citizens Funeral Home will direct services.
