HELENA-WEST HELENA - James Robert Topp Jr. of Southaven, Miss. died June 11, 2009 at age 53. He was born March 17, 1956 in West Helena.
Topp was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Olive Branch, Miss.
He leaves his wife, Felecia Topp of Southaven, Miss. and two daughters, Jamie Topp of Southaven, Miss. and Betsy Topp of Memphis, his mother, Virginia Wooten Topp of Helena-West Helena and a sister, Sue Drake of Germantown, Tenn.
His father, James Robert Topp and his stepson, Richard Diggons, preceded him in death.
The family received friends Sunday, June 14 at the Brantley Funeral Home in Olive Branch. Funeral services were held Monday, June 15 at the funeral home with interment following at the First Baptist Church Fishersville cemetery.

Zackary Makalene Johnson
HELENA-WEST HELENA - Walking the life of an angel on March 17, 2009, two beautiful bundles of joy stepped into the world on time.
Zackary Makalene Johnson was a blessing to many and touched by many lives in a short period of time. God saw that his angel was ready to come to his flock and called the precious angel back to the Master's Heavenly arms on June 10, 2009 at Helena Regional Medical Center.
He leaves his parents, Andrea L. Johnson and Troy House of Helena-West Helena; two brothers, Ex-Zavier and Zackariah Johnson of Helena-West Helena; a sister, Zayla House of Helena-West Helena; his maternal grandmother Debra (Andrew) Johnson of Helena-West Helena; paternal grandparents, Nellie (Calvin) House of Southland; and a host of other aunts, uncles, cousins, family, and friends.
Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday June 20, 2009 in the Stephens Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be Friday June 19, 2009 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Stephens Funeral Home.
Elder McArthur Dismuke will officiate.
Burial will follow in Jackson Memorial cemetery in Southland.
Otis Ray Brewster
HELENA-WEST HELENA - Funeral services for Otis Ray Brewster, 73, of Helena-West Helena and formerly of Turner, will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Mt. Zion M.B. Church in Turner with the Rev. W.R. Parks officiating. Burial will follow in the Israel Chapel cemetery in Turner.
Visitation will be held tonight from 5-7 p.m. in the Robert Lee Brown Memorial Chapel.

Brewster was born in Turner, on July 1, 1935 to the late Eddie and James Brewster.
Otis confessed a hope in Christ on Sept. 8, 1948 at Israel Chapel Church in Turner. He also became a deacon at the Mt. Pisgah church located at 4600 S. King Drive in Chicago.
Otis moved to Chicago the first time on July 15, 1944 to work at Centennial Laundry located at 1417 W. Roosevelt Rd. in Chicago and then returned again to Chicago on July 10, 1951 and began working for Hainemann's Bakery as a baker, mixer, and a cake decorator. Nine years later, he moved to the West Coast to San Francisco to become a chef at Andy Joy Restaurant. Brewster was a chef for 56 years. He started his own business, Brewster's Catering Service.
George Brewster, Ladorth Brewster (LD) and Johnnie Ella Brewster preceded him in death.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Ora Rainey-Brewster; children, James Miller of St. Louis, Wayne Brewster of Chicago, Jasper Brewster of Nashville, Tenn. and Brenda Brewster-Parks of Chicago; a sister, Earlie Mae Nelson of Arkansas; and a brother, Walter Brewster of Chicago.

Marcus D. Taylor
HELENA-WEST HELENA - Funeral services for Marcus D. Taylor, " affectionately known as "Taylor Boy, 31, of Little Rock and formerly of Marvell will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 20, 2009 at the New Haven M.B. Church with the Rev. Ronnie Young of Little Rock officiating. Burial will follow in the New Hope cemetery in Coffee Creek. Visitation will be held tonight from 6-8 p.m. in the Robert Lee Brown Chapel.
Taylor was born Nov. 13, 1977 in West Helena. Marcus was the first-born child of Ardell Farr Sr. and Frances Taylor.
Marcus professed a hope in Christ during his youth at the St. Matthew-Gum Bottom Baptist Church in Marvell. For the past six years Marcus attended St. Mark Baptist Church.
Marcus received his education in the Marvell Public School System. He received his commercial driver's license in 2003 and in 2007. Marcus was a self-employed commercial truck driver.
On Oct. 5, 2003, he married
Shanetta Wade. Marcus and Shanetta shared three children.
Marcus enjoyed his life to the fullest. He loved spending time with his children, hunting, fishing, horseback riding, farm life adventures, and riding children around in his big truck. Another pleasure Marcus enjoyed was traveling abroad with his family.
Preceding Marcus in death were his paternal grandparents, Nobel and Maggie Farr.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Shanetta of Little Rock; three children, Takylin of Marvell, Makiyah and Shamar Taylor of Little Rock; his mother, Frances Taylor of Little Rock; his father, Ardell Farr Sr. of Fort Worth, Texas; a brother; Ardell Farr Jr. (Kimberly) of Little Rock; his sisters, Naomi Young of Little Rock; Benisha Cox of Helena-West Helena, Toniel Farr of Elkhart, Ind.; maternal grandparents, B.J. and Cremolia Taylor; a nephew, Ahmari Farr; two special aunts, Laura Ford and Sharon Frazier; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Marie Elizabeth Schaffhauser Beith
Barton/Lexa, Ark. - Marie Elizabeth Schaffhauser Beith, 92, of Naylor Ark., went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday June 17, 2009. She was born in Marvell on March 19, 1917. She was the daughter of the late Werner and Mary Martha (Leifer) Schaffhauser.
Marie was a member of Sharon Freewill Baptist Church of Naylor.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, James Phillip Beith, her parents, and four brothers, Calvin, Werner Jr., Frank and Albert Schaffhauser.
Her daughter, Mary Ann and her husband Claude Holt, Jr., of Naylor, survives her. She also leaves three grandchildren, Cheryl Shock and her husband, Bobby, Claude Holt, III and his wife, Rhonda, and Terry Ruple of Naylor; six great grandchildren; and 10 great great-grandchildren. A sister, Flora Belle Dubach of Marvell, plus many nieces, nephews and friends also survive her.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today, June 19, 2009 at Roller McNutt in Conway with Brother Ronnie Whitten officiating. Interment will be in Schaffhauser cemetery in Marvell at 4:30 p.m. Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. before the service.
Pallbearers will be David Ruple, Steven Ruple, Lee Holt, Brad Shock, Ross Martin and Matt Simon.

HELENA-WEST HELENA - Pearlie Smith, 91, died June 15, 2009 at Helena Regional Medical Center. The family will receive visitors from 4 to 6 p.m. today in the Jackson and Highley Funeral Home chapel.

Aaron, born June 3, 1921 in Phillips County to the late William Aaron and Mary White-Aaron, died June 22, 2009 at Helena Regional Medical Center. He worked as a quality inspector for many years at McKnight Plywood.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife, Minnie Jean Aaron; his children, Georgia North, William Aaron, Mitchell Ray Aaron and Pam Aaron; his sisters, Nellie Scoggins and Aleene Feemster; an adopted daughter, Dorisena Johnson; many beloved grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.

HELENA-WEST HELENA - Zola Turner, 87, of Lexa died Wednesday, June 24, 2009. She was born to William Henry Heggie and Betty Sue Norris, Feb. 18, 1922 in Montgomery County, Tenn.
Three daughters, Sue Hughes of Helena-West Helena, Stacie Turner of Southaven, Miss. and Virginia Chapman of Helena-West Helena; eight grandchildren, Rita Sue Robinson, Janie Turner, William Peters, Zola Tyler, Joseph Hughes, Mark Hughes, Virginia Reynolds and Danny Peters; numerous great grandchildren; and a brother Luther Heggie of Erin, Tenn., survive Turner.
Her parents, William and Betty Heggie, her husband, Joe Turner, a granddaughter, Laura Sue Peters, brothers, Daily Heggie and William Heggie and sisters, Delmar, Jennie and Shirley, preceded her in death.
Pallbearers will be William Peters, Jordan Tyler Ralph Akers, Danny Peters, Ronald Cagle, and Timmy Reynolds.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. today, Friday, June 26, 2009 at Sunset Memorial Park with Brother Rodger Hooker officiating.

HELENA-WEST HELENA - Terrell Scott Teague, 82, of Shirley and formerly of Helena-West Helena died Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at his home.
His wife, a son, a daughter, five grandchildren, and three great grandchildren survive him.

Wiley Snyder
HELENA-WEST HELENA - Funeral services for Wiley Snyder, 75, of Lexa will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 3, 2009 in the Roller-Citizens Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
Snyder, born March 6, 1934 in Trenton to the late Roy Sherman Snyder and the late Maude Campbell Snyder, died Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at Helena Regional Medical Center.
A longtime resident of Lexa and businessman in Helena-West Helena, Snyder was the first mayor of Lexa, serving in that capacity for 18 years. During his tenure as mayor, Lexa saw many improvements including the installation of a sewer system, paved roads and improved waste management. He also served as a justice of the peace for the quorum court was a member of the Lexa-Barton Water Board, Marvell Academy School Board, and he worked diligently for the city of Lexa s incorporation.
Snyder was a member of the Lexa Baptist Church, served in the U.S. Army and was a longtime insurance agent. Wiley will be remembered for his good nature and love of family. He always had a smile on his face and a pleasant word to share.
He leaves his wife, Wanda Landers Snyder of Lexa; a son, Sherman Snyder and wife, Kelli of Germantown, Tenn.; a daughter, Michelle Snyder of Lexa; three grandchildren, Lily, Luke and Drew Snyder, all of Germantown; two sisters, Virginia Keeton and husband, Ray of Madison, Miss. and Doris Smith and husband, Leon of Helena-West Helena; three brothers, Billy Snyder and wife, Peggy of Lexa, Kenneth Snyder and wife, Katherine of Lexa, and Frank Snyder and wife, Clyda, of Chicago; and a sister-in-law, Mary Pearl Snyder of Helena-West Helena.
His parents, Roy and Maude Snyder, a brother, Hubert Snyder, and a sister, Myrtle Malone preceded him in death.
Pallbearers will be LeVaughn Smith, Sherrald Jones, Frank McClellan, Roy Reynolds, Mark Oxner and David Frensley. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Ford, David Treadaway, J.W.Graham, Leon Smith, Ray Keeton and Jim Young.
