Mrs. Bernice J. Crawford of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, February 23,
2003, at the Indian Rock Village in Fairfield Bay. Born in Muscatine, Iowa, on
February 17, 1910, Mrs. Crawford was 93 years of age. She was the daughter of the
late Albert and Jeanne (Keller) Horst.
Bernice was a registered nurse and graduated from the Benjamin Hershey Memorial
Hospital of Muscatine, Iowa in 1929. She married
Dr. Anton F. Beisner of Muscatine,
Iowa, on August 13, 1930. In 1949 they moved to Webster City, Iowa, where they lived
until the death of Dr. Beisner in April of 1964. Bernice returned to the nursing
profession from 1964 to 1972. On November 26, 1972, she married
Homer E. Crawford
and they lived at Webster City, Iowa, until moving to Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, in 1976.
She had served as Blood Service Chairman for Van Buren County for the American
Red Cross, working at the blood pressure clinic at Fairfield Bay. She was a member of
the Fairfield Bay United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Arts and Crafts,
Library Volunteers, and Lakeview Chapter 609 of the Order of the Eastern Star at
Edgemont.
Mrs. Crawford is survived by her grandchildren, other relatives, and many friends.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.
Mr. Anthony Victor Cascarina
Mr. Anthony Victor Cascarina of Heber Springs, Arkansas, passed away Monday,
February 24, 2003, at Heber Springs. Born in London, England, on June 7, 1946,
Mr. Cascarina was 56 years of age. He was the son of the late Joseph and Ada
(Higgins) Cascarina.
He was a rental maintenance supervisor, and his religious belief was Catholic.
Survivors include:
one son: Anthony Tony Cascarina of England
five sisters: Maureen Turner, Margo Knighton, and Sylvia Gibson of England
Celia R. Wilson of San Angelo, Texas
and Patricia Stegmann of Florida
and his nieces and nephews.
Mr. Cascarina is also survived by other relatives and his friends.
A funeral liturgy will be held Monday, March 3, at 5:00 P.M. at the Olmstead Chapel
with Deacon Robert Morris officiating. A reception for all guests will be held after

Mrs. Zelda R. Burlison
Mrs. Zelda R. Burlison of Rose Bud, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday,
February 26, 2003, at the Baptist Health Medical Center in Heber Springs,
Arkansas. Born in Heber Springs on March 11, 1932, Mrs. Burlison was 70 years
of age. She was the daughter of the late Garland and Millie (Jackson) Rorie.
Mrs. Burlison was a loving mother and homemaker. She was a resident of Cleburne
County most of her life and was a member of the Friendship Freewill Baptist
Church.
Survivors include:

one son: Jimmy Burlison of Beebe, AR
two daughters: Elaine Gorham and Diane Reeves, both of Rose Bud, AR

at 11:00 A.M. at the Friendship Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Michael
Morrison and Rev. Sidney Sawrie officiating. Interment will follow in the Friendship

Mrs. Madgerine W. Temp Butterworth
Mrs. Madgerine W. Temp Butterworth of Heber Springs, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, February 27, 2003, at the Southridge Nursing Center in Heber Springs.
Born in Mills Field, Tennessee, on July 6, 1920, Mrs. Butterfield was 82 years of age.
She was the daughter of the late Sylvester and Madge (Roberts) Watson.
A former resident of Dyersburg, Tennessee, Mrs. Butterworth had lived in Heber Springs
since April of 1975. She was a retired owner and operator of a refrigeration and air
conditioning service and also the owner of a restaurant and trailer court. During World
War II, she worked in a defense plant in Milan, Tennessee. Mrs. Butterworth loved
flowers and gardening and enjoyed canning vegetables and listening to jazz music. She
was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Dyersburg, Tennessee.
She loved her family. Her husband David Frank Butterworth preceded her in death on
August 14, 2001. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Lucy Boatwright,
Jackie Newsome, and Madeline Watson, and one brother, Ed Watson.
Survivors include:
two daughters: Lisa Jayne Davis of Heber Springs, AR
and Norma Susan Rimes of Kentwood, Louisiana
two sisters: Margaret Wyatt of Dyersburg, Tennessee
and Violet Moorefield of Clarksville, Tennessee

Mrs. Butterworth is also survived by other relatives and her many friends.

WAS OF METHODIST FAITH. BESIDES HIS PARENTS, GEORGE WAS

Mrs. Elsie Mildred Jackson of Quitman, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, February 23,
2003, at the White County Medical Center in Searcy, Arkansas. Born in Tuthill,
South Dakota, Mrs. Jackson was 84 years of age. She was the daughter of the late
Fred and Lillian (Bettleyoun) Curtis.
Mrs. Jackson retired in 1978 from Torrance Memorial Hospital in California as a
nurse s aid. She had been a resident of Quitman for 20 years. Mrs. Jackson enjoyed
painting and working puzzles. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter Day Saints.
Survivors include:
her husband: James Jackson of Quitman, AR
four sons: Hans Clausen, Ralph Jackson, Frank Jackson, and Aaron Jackson
five daughters: Billie J. Mecham, Diane Hurrel, Lillian Fox, Louise Muchay, and Nellie Brady

Mrs. Phyllis Jean Bittle
Mrs. Phyllis Jean Bittle of Greers Ferry, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, February 23,
2003, at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock, Arkansas. Born in Lansing, Michigan,
on July 4, 1938, Mrs. Bittle was 64 years of age. She was the daughter of the late
William and Pauline (Godfrey) Phillips.
A former resident of Kansas City and Glendale, California, Mrs. Bittle had lived at
Greers Ferry since 1974. She was a homemaker who enjoyed her grandchildren, and she
was a collector of hog figurines. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and
the Brownsville Baptist Church. Mrs. Bittle was preceded in death by her parents and
two brothers, Wilson Phillips and Willie Phillips.
She is survived by:
