Mrs. Judy Karen Lindsey of Drasco, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, February 23, 2003,
at the White River Medical Center in Batesville, Arkansas. Born in Knoxville,
Tennessee, on October 26, 1945, Judy was 57 years of age. She was the daughter of
the late Arthur G. and Bernice E. (Hawkins) Luke.
Judy was a homemaker and had been a resident of Arkansas since 1983. She was a member of the
Brownsville Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by one daughter,
Delana Pettit.
Survivors include:

Judy is also survived by other relatives and her many friends.
Services will be held Wednesday, February 26, at 2:00 P.M. at the Brownsville Baptist
Church with Rev. Homer Branscum officiating. Interment will follow in the Brownsville

Mrs. Jessie L. Fulks
Mrs. Jessie L. Fulks of Higden, Arkansas, passed away Saturday, February 22, 2003, at
Beverly Healthcare in Heber Springs, Arkansas. Born in West Virginia, on August 18,
1912, Mrs. Fulks was 90 years of age. She was the daughter of the late Walter and
Barbara Ann (Stingel) Wrigglesworth.
A resident of Cleburne County most of her life, Mrs. Fulks was a homemaker. She
was preceded in death by her husband, Garner Fulks. Her religious belief was
Protestant.
She is survived by:
her niece: Sandra Wrigglesworth of Tucson, Arizona
other nieces and nephews and her many friends.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, Feb. 25, from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Olmstead Funeral
Home in Heber Springs. Graveside services and interment will be held Wednesday,

Bertha Mae Mix
Bertha Mae Mix of Galveston, Indiana, passed away Thursday, February 20, 2003, at
North Woods Village in Kokomo, Indiana. Born at Prim, Arkansas, on November 8,
1910, Mrs. Mix was 92 years of age. She was the daughter of the late R. C. and Anna
Louise (Robinson) Aldridge.
Mrs. Mix was a homemaker and mother, and her religious belief was Protestant. She
was preceded in death by her husband, Alva Mix, in 1959.
Survivors include:
one son: Harold Sonny Mix of Galveston, Indiana
two daughters: Freeda Whitehurst and Anita Henson, both of Heber Springs, Arkansas

Alan R. Hawley
Alan R. Hawley, retired Executive Vice President of the Security Division for
Guardsmark, LLC, a private security company, died early Tuesday morning at
North Rock Baptist Health Center, following a one-vehicle traffic accident in
North Little Rock, Arkansas. He was 76.
A native of Phillips County, Kansas, Hawley earned a B.A. in political science
and a law degree from the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa, where he married his high-school sweetheart, Fran. He served in the U.S. Navy two years, then spent
two years working as a Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
After leaving federal law enforcement, Hawley joined the private sector and served
as head of the Home Security Division of RCA. He began his career with Guardsmark
in November 1974.
Hawley played an important role in the development of Guardsmark during the
mid-1970s and throughout the 1980s. During that period, he served the company
in many capacities, including Executive Vice President, Security Division; Vice
Chairman of the Board, Division Manager, Government Relations and Compliance;
and General Counsel.
In 1989, at the time of his retirement, he became Senior Advisor to Guardsmark,
actively continuing his contributions to the company until his death.
In his honor, Guardsmark is establishing the Alan Ross Hawley Distinguished
Visitorship lecture series at the University of Iowa School of Law.
Hawley lived in Germantown, Tennessee, with his wife from 1974 until 1999,
when they moved to Heber Springs, Arkansas. He was an active member of First
United Methodist Church in Heber Springs and belonged to the Masonic Lodge
and the Shriners.
He leaves behind his wife, Fran; two adult sons and their spouses, Michael and
Joanne Hawley and James and Judi Hawley; and three grandchildren, Christina
(Eric) Oliger, Melissa Hawley and Gregory Hawley.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, Feb. 20, at 3:00 P.M. at the Memphis
Funeral Home Poplar Chapel in Memphis, Tennessee.
A memorial service will be held Friday, Feb. 21, at 3:00 P.M. at the Olmstead Chapel
with Rev. John Miles officiating.

Mr. David Robert Pete Ramsey
Mr. David Robert Pete Ramsey of Pangburn, Arkansas, passed away Monday,
February 17, 2003, at the White County Medical Center in Searcy, Arkansas. Born in West Point, Arkansas, on April 10, 1926, Mr. Ramsey was 76 years of age. He
was the son of the late Robert Alonzo and Mary Magdalene Ramsey.
Mr. Ramsey was a retired truck driver, and he had been a resident of Kensett and
Pangburn most of his life. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of
the American Legion. Mr. Ramsey s religious belief was Baptist.

Mrs. Adda B. Hipp of Edgemont, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, February 13,
2003 at the Baptist Health Medical Center in Heber Springs. Born January 10, 1925,
at Prim, Arkansas, Mrs. Hipp was 78 years of age. She was the daughter of the late
John and Myrtle (Verser) Carlton.
Mrs. Hipp was a homemaker and mother, and she was a lifetime resident of Cleburne
County. Her religious belief was Baptist. She was preceded in death by her husband,
Jesse Alton Hipp, on August 26, 1996.

Mrs. Faye Huddler
Mrs. Faye Huddler of Heber Springs, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday,
February 12, 2003, at White County Medical Center in Searcy, Arkansas.
Born in Cleburne County, Arkansas, on September 16, 1926, Mrs. Huddler
was 76 years of age. She was the daughter of the late Arthur A. and Dovie
L. (Smith) Norton.
Mrs. Huddler was a retired nurse and had been a resident of Heber Springs
most of her life. She was a member of the Eastern Star, and her religious
belief was General Baptist. Her husband, Robert Lee Huddler, preceded her
in death on March 29, 2000.
She is survived by:

Mr. Jerry David Elrod
Mr. Jerry David Elrod of Tumbling Shoals, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday,
February 12, 2003, at the Southridge Nursing and Rehab Center in Heber Springs,
Arkansas. Born May 26, 1944, in Jonesboro, Arkansas, Mr. Elrod was 58 years
of age. He was the son of the late Dalton and Thelma (Griffin) Elrod.
Mr. Elrod was a former resident of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and had lived for eleven
years in Cleburne County. He was a supervisor for Jones Truck Lines and had served
in the National Guard for six years. Mr. Elrod enjoyed hunting and fishing, gospel
music, and was a member of the Lions Club in Jonesboro. He was a member of
the Chastain Chapel General Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and was a
member of the General Baptist Men s Brotherhood.
He is survived by:
