Mrs. Anna G. Qualls

Mrs. Anna G. Qualls of Heber Springs, Arkansas, passed away Saturday, April 26, 2003,
at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, Arkansas. Born in Fairbanks, Arkansas,
on September 14, 1918, Mrs. Qualls was 84 years of age. She was the daughter of the
late Thomas Russell Williams and Lucy Davis Williams Townsel.
Mrs. Qualls was a homemaker and mother and enjoyed spending time with her family
and friends, cooking, and reading. She was a resident of Cleburne County most of her
life. Mrs. Qualls possessed many loving and endearing qualities which endeared her
to many, many people. Her religious belief was Baptist. She was preceded in death by
her husband, Jesse A. Qualls, on January 27, 1984. Mrs. Qualls was also preceded in
death by two brothers, Harmon Townsel and Buddy Townsel, and one sister, Willie
Sandstrom.
Survivors include:
four sons: Donald Qualls of Surrey, British Columbia, Canada
Larry D. Qualls of Garden City, Kansas
Timothy Qualls of Thrall, Texas
and Craig Qualls of Wichita, Kansas
three daughters: Elizabeth Williams of Clinton, Arkansas
Marilyn K. Davis of Heber Springs, Arkansas
and Kathy Methvin of Rockdale, Texas
one sister: Irene Taylor of White Hall, Arkansas
sixteen grandchildren and twenty six great grandchildren.
Mrs. Qualls is also survived by other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Qualls will be held Tuesday, April 29, at 2:00 P.M. in the
Olmstead Chapel with Pastor M. D. Methvin officiating. Interment will follow in
Cleburne County Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home,
Inc., 601 W. Main, Heber Springs, AR 72543.

Lorene Stanford Johnson

Lorene Stanford Johnson of Heber Springs, Arkansas, passed away Saturday, April 26,
2003, at Baptist Health Medical Center in Heber Springs. Born in Cleburne County,
Arkansas, on August 16, 1927, Mrs. Johnson was 75 years of age. She was the daughter
of the late Clarence David and Ethel Lee (West) Stanford.
Mrs. Johnson was a homemaker and had been a resident of Cleburne County most of
her life. Her religious belief was of the nondenominational faith. She was preceded in
death by her husband, Calvin Coolidge Johnson, her parents, and two brothers, Glen
Robbin Dubois Stanford and William T. Stanford. She was loved and will be missed by
all.
Survivors include:
her son, Larry Johnson of Ida, Arkansas
one granddaughter, Brandy Gallegly of Ida, Arkansas
and two great grandchildren, Morgan Gallegly and Colton Gallegly.
Mrs. Johnson is also survived by other relatives and her many friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Johnson will be held Tuesday, April 29, at 10:00 A.M. in the
Olmstead Chapel with Rev. Odell Altom officiating. Interment will follow in the South
Cross Roads cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gerald Rackley, Lee Rackley, Ferdie
Gallegly, Sutton Gallegly, Tom Goff, and Doug Sturch. Arrangements are by Olmstead
Funeral Home, Inc., 601 W. Main, Heber Springs, AR 72543.

Bob Clark

Bob Clark, born August 25, 1934, at Woodrow, Arkansas, to the late Marion and
Edna (Prince) Clark, passed away Sunday, April 20, 2003, at Beverly HealthCare
in Heber Springs, Arkansas. He was 68 years of age.
Bob lived his life in Cleburne County working approximately 16 years in sales at
North Arkansas Farm Supply in Heber Springs. Besides his parents, Bob was
preceded in death by two brothers, Virgil and Alvin Clark, and one sister, Virgie Joy.
Survivors are:
his wife: Mary Ann (Seymore) Clark of Heber Springs
two brothers: Herman Clark and his wife Judy of Heber Springs
and Thurman Clark and his wife, Lisa of Woodrow
his sister: Robbie Gurnie and her husband Earl of Spokane, Washington
three stepsons: Joe and Bob Spinks, both of Heber Springs
and Johnny Spinks of Conway
one stepdaughter: Wanda Hallum of Memphis, Tennessee
nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Visitation started Monday at Olmstead Funeral Home. Graveside services were held
Tuesday, April 22, 2003, at 2:00 P.M. at Woodrow cemetery with Rev. Dennis Knapp
officiating. Interment followed at Woodrow cemetery. Arrangements were by Olmstead
Funeral Home, Inc. of Heber Springs, AR.

June Mae White

June Mae White, born to the late Allen and Cora
(Dooley) Martin on June 17, 1951 at New Madrid, Mo.
passed away Saturday April 19, 2003 at her home in
Heber Springs, Arkansas. June was 51 years of age.
June had lived most of her life in Heber Springs.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and gave
Loving care to many nieces and nephews. She was of
The Pentecostal faith. June was preceded in death
by her parents, a sister, Mary Elizabeth Hooten and a
brother, Robert Lee. She is survived by her son
Billy White of Arkansas, three brothers, Johnny Lee
of Texas, Delbert Hooten of Heber Springs, and
James Lee of Conway. Two sisters, Kattie Gunnett of
Wilburn and Ruby McDonald of Kentucky, two
grandchildren, Steven and Monica White, her loving
Companion, Thomas Lacy, nieces, nephews, other
relatives and many friends.
Visitation started Saturday at 3:00 p.m. at Olmstead Funeral
Home in Heber Springs. Services were Monday, April 21, 2003
At Parma Full Gospel Church with Rev. Jim Sanders officiating.
Interment followed at Smart cemetery with Frankie Lee,
Wayne Lee, Jerry Davis, Jerry Hall, Kenneth Rackley, and James
King serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were
Michael Gunnett and Delbert Hooten, jr.
Arrangements by: Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.

JOYCE M. CHANEY

JOYCE M. CHANEY, BORN SEPTEMBER 25, 1940 IN MONTICELLO
KENTUCKY, passed away SATURDAY, APRIL 19, 2003 AT BAPTIST
HOSPITAL IN LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS. SHE WAS 62 YEARS OF AGE.
JOYCE HAD LIVED 23 YEARS IN CLEBURNE COUNTY COMING HERE
FROM INDIANA. SHE ENJOYED CRAFTS AND HAD HER OWN CRAFT
SHOP, THE WOODCRAFTERS . SHE WAS A MEMBER OF CHASTAIN
CHAPEL CHURCH. JOYCE WAS PRECEEDED IN DEATH BY HER FATHER,
ROBERT TAYLOR. SURVIVORS ARE, HER HUSBAND, LOUIE CHANEY,
SONS, DEAN CHANEY AND WIFE CARLA OF INDIANA AND DOUG CHANEY
AND HIS WIFE TRICIA OF HEBER SPRINGS, DAUGHTER, V 1CM DECKARD
AND HUSBAND DOUG OF SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, HER MOTHER, RUTH
TAYLOR OF CENTER VILLE, INDIANA, BROTHERS, BILL AND JIM TA YLOR,
BOTH OF CENTER VILLE, INDIANA, SEVEN GRANDCHILDREN, MANDI
JOYCE, DEREK, AND AUSTIN LACY, NICHOLAS, SHANNON, BRYAN, AND
ARON CHANEY, OTHER RELATIVES AND MANY FRIENDS.
VISITATION WAS SUNDAY, APRIL 20, 2003, 6-8 P.M. AT OLMSTEAD
FUNERAL HOME. SERVICES WERE MONDAY, APRIL 21, 2003 AT CHASTAIN
CHAPEL CHURCH AT 2:00 P.M. WITH REV. TERRY MOTE OFFICIATING.
INTERMENT FOLLOWED IN CHASTAIN CHAPEL cemetery WITH
REV. TERRY MOTE OFFICIATING. INTERMENT FOLLOWED IN CHASTAIN
CHAPEL cemetery. SERVING AS PALLBEARERS WERE, RICKY LOGAN,
WILLIE STONE, FRANK SHIPLEY, MARTY MOSS, ROGER LOGAN, MIKE
JOHNSON, GARY LACY, AND JOHN SANDERSON.
ARRANGEMENTS WERE BY OLMSTEAD FUNERAL HOME, HEBER SPRINGS.

Bette Chancey Keeter

Bette Chancey Keeter succumbed on April 18, 2003, after a courageous battle withcancer.

Bette Keeter was born September 10, 1940, in Columbus, Georgia, to Dorothy Kite
Chancey and E. B. Chancey. They later moved to Union Springs, Alabama, where
she grew up and graduated from Union Springs High School. She attended Gulf Park
College for Women in Gulf Port, Mississippi.

In 1959, Bette married George Lane Keeter of Mountain Home, Arkansas. After
residing for a short time in Brunswick, Maine, they moved to Mountain Home in 1960,
and later, in 1965, to Heber Springs, Arkansas, where she was very active in the First
Baptist Church for many years. She taught Sunday School, was a member of the Adult
Choir, assisted with the Children s Choir and Vacation Bible School.

Bette was preceded in death by her parents and brother Phillip Wayne Chancey of
Union Springs, Alabama.

Survivors include her husband, George Keeter; two sons, George Lane Keeter, Jr.
and wife Denise of Heber Springs and Brian Chancey Keeter of Arlington, Virginia;
granddaughter, Emily Catherine Keeter; grandson, George Lane Keeter III (Trip);
brother, Jon E. Chancey and wife Nancy of Enterprise, Alabama; sister-in-law, Frances
C. Chancey of Union Springs, Alabama; mother-in-law, Connis Keeter of Mountain
Home, Arkansas; brother-in-law, Gary Keeter and wife Virginia of Benton, Arkansas
four nieces and four nephews.

Bette will be long remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and
friend. She was generous, self-sacrificing, hard working, honest, energetic and a good
Christian. Her natural kindness, happiness, and willingness to help others blessed and
enriched the lives of all who knew her.
Visitation will be held Sunday, April 20, from 4:00-6:00 P.M. at Olmstead Funeral
Home, Inc. Funeral service will be held Monday, April 21, at 10:00 A.M. at the First
Baptist Church of Heber Springs with private family interment. Memorials may be made
to the First Baptist Church of Heber Springs.

OPAL ANGELQUE HAM

OPAL ANGELQUE HAM, AGE 95, OF MATOON, ILLNOIS, FORMERLY OF SHIRLEY, ARKANSAS, passed away FRIDAY, MAY 30, 2003 AT THE HOME OF HER DAUGHTER IN MATTOON. OPAL WAS BORN OCTOBER 5, 1907 AT EGLANTINE, ARKANSAS TO THE LATE GEORGE AND MARGARET CALDWELL TOWERY. SHE MARRIED WILLIAM H. HAM WHO PRECEDED HER IN DEATH IN 1981. SHE WAS ALSO PRECEDED BY 2 BROTHERS AND 2 SISTERS.
OPAL WAS A MEMBER OF THE CHURCH OF CHRIST, HOME EXTENSION AND IRIS GARDEN CLUB. MEMORIALS MAY BE MADE TO HOSPICE OF DYNAMIC HOME CARE, 546 W. LINCOLN, CHARLESTON, ILLINOIS, 61920.
OPAL IS SURVIVED BY HER TWO DAUGHTERS, PEGGY MAGEE OF IRVING, TEXAS AND NANCY SELVIDGE OF MANTOON, ILLINOIS, A SON ROBERT HAM OF HAYDEN, ALABAMA, A BROTHER JACK TOWERY OF SHIRLEY, ARKANSAS, 5 SISTERS, GEORGIA HALL OF CLINTON, ARKANSAS, CELESTE SMITH OF SHIRLEY, ARKANSAS, RUTH WARD OF CHOCTAW, ARKANSAS, JOYCE BRADFORD OF FAIRFIELD BAY, ARKANSAS, AND MELBA TIPTON OF SHIRLEY, ARKANSAS, 6 GRANDCHILDREN , 7 GREAT GRANDCHILDREN, OTHER RELATIVES AND MANY FRIENDS.

Mrs. Patsy Ruth (Rhodes) Mercer

Mrs. Patsy Ruth (Rhodes) Mercer of Rose Bud, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday,
April 16, 2003 at the Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, Arkansas. Born in
Spadra, Arkansas, on October 15, 1932, Mrs. Mercer was 70 years of age. She was the
daughter of the late Cecil and Bessie (Felkins) Rhodes.
Mrs. Mercer was a homemaker and had been a resident of Rose Bud for forty-one years.
She served on the Executive Committee of the Arkansas Baptist Conference for Deaf
and was a member of the Arkansas Hearing Impaired Communication Board.
Mrs. Mercer enjoyed quilting and crafts and was a member of the Friendship Sunshine
Circle Quilting Club. She was a member of the Friendship Freewill Baptist Church and
served as Treasurer of the Ladies Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by two sons,
Michael and Ronnie.
Survivors include:
her husband: Maxwell Mercer of Rose Bud, AR
three sons: Ricky Mercer, Keith Mercer, and Danny Mercer, all of Rose Bud, AR
her mother-in-law: Elsie Mercer of Rose Bud, AR
two brothers: Cecil Rhodes, Jr. of Clarksville, AR
and William Rhodes of Arlington, Virginia
three sisters: Janell Borel of Little Rock, AR
Gailya Evans of North Little Rock, AR
and Rosemary Woolery of Mt. Vernon, Missouri
eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Mrs. Mercer is also survived by other relatives and her many friends.
Visitation will be held Friday, April 18, from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Olmstead Funeral Home,
Inc. in Heber Springs. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 19, at 2:00 P.M. at
the Friendship Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Morrison and Rev. Sidney Sawrie
officiating. Interment will follow in the Martin cemetery. Arrangements are by
Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc., 601 W. Main, Heber Springs, AR 72543.
