LILLIAN WILSON MARSH, DAUGHTER OF THE LATE CARL E. AND SARAH M. (CLARK), WELLS, passed away FRIDAY , FEBRUARY 6 , 2004 , AT HER HOME IN SHIRLEY, ARKANSAS. BORN ON JANUARY 11, 1913 AT DES ARC, ARKANSAS, SHE WAS 91 YEARS OF AGE. SHE WAS A HOMEMAKER, A LOVING MOTHER AND GRAND-MOTHER, AND SHE WAS OF THE BAPTIST FAITH. BESIDES HER PARENTS, SHE WAS preceded in death BY HER HUSBANDS, MAX WILSON AND THOMAS 0. MARSH. SURVIVORS ARE, A DAUGHTER, PHYLLIS CARTER OF SHIRLEY, ARKANSAS, 8 GRANDCHILDREN, 9 GREAT GRANDCHILDREN, OTHER RELATIVES AND MANY FRIENDS.
VISITATION WAS HELD MONDAY, FEBRUARY 9, 2004 AT FAITH CHRISTIAN CHURCH AT EDGEMONT, ARKANSAS. SERVICES WERE TUESDAY AT 11:00 A.M. AT FAITH CHRISTIAN CHURCH WITH PASTOR BILL KALHN OFFICIATING. INTERMENT FOLLOWED AT AUGUSTA MEMORIAL PARK, AUGUSTA, AR. ARRANGEMENTS WERE BY OLMSTEAD FUNERAL HOME, INC. HEBER SPRINGS, ARKANSAS.

Inez Birdsong Beasley

Inez Birdsong Beasley, the widow of Oran D. Beasley, passed away Friday, February 06, 2004, at St. Andrews Place Nursing Home in Conway, Arkansas, at the age of 90 years. The daughter of the late Dr. Thomas C. Birdsong and Dora Fowlkes Birdsong, she was born May 6, 1913, at Shiloh, Arkansas. Her religious faith was Baptist. She is survived by her children, Dr. Tom Beasley of Greenbrier, AR, Myra Finch of Memphis, Tennessee, and Jo Thomason of Blacksburg, Virginia, brother, Dr. Carl K. Birdsong of Burleson, Texas, grandchildren, Matthew and Susan Beasley, Laura Finch, and Neal and Jeff Crabtree, and niece, Barbara Dickson Wood.
Graveside funeral services were at the Shiloh Crossroads cemetery on Monday, February 9, 2004, at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Van Harness conducting the service. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be sent to the Shiloh Crossroads cemetery Fund, % Charlie Hartsfield, 890 Shiloh Road, Greers Ferry, AR 72067 or to a favorite charity. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc., Heber Springs.

Mrs. Ray Miller

Mrs. Ray Miller, age 65, of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, February 4, 2004, at Conway Regional Medical Center in Conway, Arkansas. Born in New York state on April 17, 1938, she was the daughter of the late James and Mary (Giglio) Laurentino. Mrs. Miller had been a resident of Fairfield Bay since December of 2001, and she was a former resident of Los Angeles, California. She was a retired office manager for a heating and air conditioning business. Mrs. Miller was also an artist and enjoyed painting and drawing. She was a Christian. She is survived by her husband, Stan Miller of Fairfield Bay, AR, two sons, Glenn Dean of Middlebury, Connecticut, and Gregg Dean of California, one daughter, Denis Ravet of Connecticut, two stepdaughters, Angela Barbaree of Hope, AR, and Kim Kerr of Bloomsfield, Colorado, one brother, Vincent Laurentino one sister, Jo Ann Diaferia, both of New York, and six step grandchildren, Trent Kerr, Jonathan Barbaree, Steffani Kerr, Alec Kerr, Joshua Barbaree, and Haley Kerr. Mrs. Miller is also survived by other relatives and her many friends.

Mrs. Dulcie Ann Goff

Mrs. Dulcie Ann Goff, age 95, of Heber Springs, Arkansas, died Wednesday, February 4, 2004, at Central Arkansas Hospital in Searcy, Arkansas. Born in Arkansas in the Mt. Olive Community, on August 5, 1908, she was the daughter of the late S. O. “Sid” and Lula (Vincent) Varver. Mrs. Goff was a homemaker, and she enjoyed reading, quilting, singing, and being with people. She was a longtime member of Howard General Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank C. Goff, who died in May of 1974. Mrs. Goff is survived by two sons, Odis Goff of Quitman, AR, and Jim Goff of Heber Springs, AR, six daughters, Maxine Morgan of Merced, California, Jessi Stark of North Little Rock, AR, Lou Kennedy of Quitman, AR, Nina Norman and Barbara Dutra, both of Atwater, California, and Sylvia Schmidt of Yuma, Arizona, one sister, Rachel Moody of Russellville, AR, twenty-six grandchildren, and many great and great, great grandchildren. Mrs. Goff is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Friday, Feb. 6, from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 7, at 2:00 P.M. in the Howard General Baptist Church with Rev. Edwin Kerr and Rev, Kerry Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Cleburne County Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Richard Goff, Harry Goff, Larry Goff, Stevie Goff, John Stark, Donnie Kennedy, Michael Kennedy, and Bobby Kennedy. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc., Heber Springs.

Mrs. Helen Marjorie Watson

Mrs. Helen Marjorie Watson, age 75, of Higden, Arkansas, passed away at her home Tuesday, February 3, 2004. Born in Central City, Nebraska, on October 11, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Rufus and Beulah Burmood Tibbs. Mrs. Watson had been a resident of Higden for the past thirty years, and she had served for eight years as Mayor of the town. She was a homemaker and the owner of Morton Grocery Store. Mrs. Watson’s religious belief was Methodist, and she attended Holiday Hills Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by one brother, Rex Tibbs, and one sister, Betty Gigliotti. She is survived by her husband of fifty-five years, R. B. Watson of Higden, AR, two sons, John E. Watson and his wife, Sue, of Higden, AR, and Richard Watson and his wife, Kathy, of Rancho Cucamonga, California, three brothers, Bill Tibbs and Jim Tibbs, both of Kennewick, Washington and Tom Tibbs of Texas two sisters, Edith Oaks of Marysville, California and Barbara Earle of Gridley, California five grandchildren, John R. Watson of Pine Bluff, AR, Lori Tito of Fontana, California, Wendy Prescher of Stockbridge, Georgia, Melissa Gomez of Rialto, California, and Karen Lamey of North Little Rock, AR, and six great-grandchildren, Nicholas Tito and Brooke Tito, both of Fontana, California, John David Prescher and Bailey Prescher, both of Stockbridge, Georgia, Dean Gomez of Rialto, California, and Elizabeth Lamey of North Little Rock, AR. Mrs. Watson is also survived by other relatives and her many friends.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Feb. 5, from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc. Graveside services and interment will be held Friday, Feb. 6, at 11:00 A.M. at Higden-McLehaney cemetery with Rev. John Evans officiating. Pallbearers will be John R. Watson, Steven Lamey, Brent Prescher, Greg Gilmore, Rex Dean, and Ralph Moore. Grady Brown will serve as an honorary pallbearer. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.

Mrs. Evelyn Brown

Mrs. Evelyn Brown, age 81, of Heber Springs, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2004, at White County Medical Center in Searcy, Arkansas. Born in Ozone, Tennessee, on May 16, 1922, she was the daughter of the late James O. and Mary E. (Swicegood) Cunningham. For most of Mrs. Brown’s adult life, she was a resident of Arkansas, and she had lived at Heber Springs since 1954. She was a homemaker and a retired employee of Gibson’s. Mrs. Brown’s hobbies included gardening and growing flowers, cooking, and reading. She was a member of the Palestine Baptist Church. Her husband, Ernest Brown, preceded her in death on October 7, 2002. Mrs. Brown is survived by two sons, Greg Brown and his wife, Julie, of Heber Springs, AR, and Charles Blair of Heber Springs, AR, two daughters, Alice Brown of Fayetteville, AR, and Sheryl Brennan and her husband, Gary, of Las Vegas, Nevada, seven grandchildren, Kenneth Blair and Penny Parish, both of Searcy, AR, Rachel Brown of Heber Springs, AR, and Sarah Brennan, Kyle Brennan, Michael Brennan, and James Brennan, all of Las Vegas, Nevada. Mrs. Brown is also survived by other relatives and her many friends.

Mrs. Essie V. (Watters) West Sutterfield

Mrs. Essie V. (Watters) West Sutterfield, a lifetime resident of Heber Springs, Arkansas, died Monday, February 2, 2004, at White County Medical Center in Searcy, Arkansas, at the age of 82. Born in Cleburne County, Arkansas, on June 9, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Brack and Laura (Cantrell) Watters. Essie had many ties to the community including thirty plus years with the Glove Corporation of Heber Springs. She was an active member of the Mt. Devonshire Community Church, Cleburne County Jamboree, and past member of Heber Springs Square Dancing Club. She enjoyed time with her family, dancing, cooking, and gardening. Essie was preceded in death by her husbands, Glin West and Troy Sutterfield, and by her parents and one brother, Duey Watters. She is survived by one daughter, Ruby Verser of Heber Springs, AR, five brothers, Lloyd Watters and Claude Watters of Searcy, AR Ace Watters of Little Rock, AR, Alvin Watters of Heber Springs, AR, and D. D. Watters of Marion, AR, two grandchildren, Randy Verser and his wife, Julia, and Tonya Roy and husband, Kevin, and five great grandchildren, Jeremy, Chelsey, and Courtney Verser and Meleah and Alex Roy, all of Heber Springs, AR. Essie is also survived by other relatives and her many friends.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, Feb. 3, from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 4, at 2:00 P.M. in the Olmstead Chapel with Rev. John Cates officiating. Interment will follow in the South Cross Roads cemetery. Pallbearers will be Don Sims, Clint Grimes, Weldon Harris, Jim Walker, Edward Martin, and Jerrel Watters. Honorary pallbearers will be David Bradford, Weldon Walley, Darrell Hipp, Dewayne Combs, and Leon Woodam. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc., Heber Springs.

MARK STEVEN BAILEY

MARK STEVEN BAILEY THE SON OF WILLIAM M. (BILL) BAILEY AND SHIRLEY F. (AX) BAILEY passed away ON SATURDAY, JANUARY 1, 2004 AT THE AGE OF 46 YEARS. LIE WAS BORN AT SEARCY, ARKANSAS ON FEBRUARY 13, 1957. MARK WAS THE OWNER OF MS TRUCKING COMPANY OF CABOT, ARKANSAS, A GRADUATE OF CABOT HIGH SCHOOL, WHERE I-IF PLAYED FOOTBALL AND RAN TRACK FOR THE CABOT PANTHERS. AS A HOBBY HE OWNED AND ENJOYED TRAINING AND WORKING WITH QUARTER HORSES AND RACING DIRT CARS. WITH A FRIENDLY AND OUTGOING PERSONALITY HE NEVER MET A STRANGER AND HAD MADE MANY FRIENDS. HE WAS preceded in death BY HIS SISTER, TINA ELAINE BAILEY SPARKS, GRANDPARENTS, HUBERT AND LEOLA BAILEY AND JOE AND MAMIE AX. HE IS SURVIVED BY HIS CHILDREN, DREW BAILEY AND BOBBI JO BAILEY. PARENTS, BILL AND SHIRLEY BAILEY, LOVING COMPANION, JUDY COSSEY, BROTHERS, JOE ALLEN (DONNA) BAILEY, PORTER (DARLENE) BAILEY AND WAYNE (KIM) BAILEY. NIECES AND NEPHEWS, BILLY JO, NICK, HEATHER, BRANDI, NICOLE AND JEREMY, SEVERAL AUNTS AND UNCLES AND HIS MANY FRIENDS.

Mrs. Mary Busbea DeBusk

Mrs. Mary Busbea DeBusk, age 84, of Heber Springs, Arkansas, passed away Friday, January 30, 2004, at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, Arkansas. Born in Beebe, Arkansas, on July 16, 1919, she was the daughter of the late William Warren and Effie (Balentine) Busbea. A resident of Heber Springs since 1942, Mrs. DeBusk was a retired licensed practical nurse. She married Robert Leo DeBusk on September 18, 1943, in Heber Springs. They had been married for fifty-three years at the time of his death on March 8, 1997. Mrs. DeBusk was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and she will be remembered for serving and caring for others. Her hobbies included gardening and crocheting. Mrs. DeBusk was a member of Heber Springs First Baptist Church. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Raymond Busbea, Albert Busbea, and Elmer Busbea and one sister, Mittie Busbea Hall. Mrs. DeBusk is survived by two sons, Dr. J. R. DeBusk and his wife, Bobbi, of Heber Springs, AR, and Larry Warren DeBusk of Heber Springs, AR, one brother, DeWitt Busbea and his wife, Winsella, of Mayflower, AR, one sister, Martha Busbea Putman of Beebe, AR, six grandchildren, Bryan Christopher DeBusk and his wife, Melanie, of Arkadelphia, AR, Larry Edward DeBusk and Warren Matthew DeBusk, both of Heber Springs, AR, James Matthew DeBusk and his wife, Heather, of Sherwood, AR, Rachel Elizabeth DeBusk Norton and her husband, Matthew, and Holly Marie DeBusk Hughes and her husband, Adam, all of Ft. Worth, Texas, and one great-grandchild, Ethan James Norton of Ft. Worth, Texas. Mrs. DeBusk is also survived by other relatives and her many friends.
Visitation will begin Saturday afternoon with the family present at Olmstead Funeral Home from 3:00-6:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 2, 2004, at 1:30 P.M. with Rev. L. B. Jordan and Rev. Adam Hughes officiating. Interment will follow in the Heber Springs cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bryan DeBusk, Larry Edward DeBusk, Warren DeBusk, Matthew DeBusk, Tom Busbea, Hugh Busbea, Ronnie Busbea, Randy Busbea, and Gene Putman. Memorials may be made to the India Mission Project at Heber Springs First Baptist Church or to the Heber Springs First Baptist Church Building Fund. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc., 601 W. Main, Heber Springs, AR 72543.

Mrs. Evelyn L. McDonald

Mrs. Evelyn L. McDonald, age 83, of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, passed away Friday, January 30, 2004, at Indian Rock Village Nursing Center in Fairfield Bay. Born in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, on January 17, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Bernhardt and Elanor (Williams) Ludewig. A resident of Fairfield Bay for twenty-eight years, Mrs. McDonald was a homemaker and a member of the Fairfield Bay Quilting Society. Her religious belief was Episcopal. She was preceded in death by her husband, Evan D. McDonald, who passed away on March 10, 1984. Mrs. McDonald is survived by one brother, Bill Ludewig of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, other relatives and her many friends.
Graveside services for Mrs. McDonald will be held Sunday, Feb. 1, at 2:00 P.M. at Woodland Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.

W. H. (Red) Henson

W. H. (Red) Henson age 92 died Thursday, February 5, 2004 in the Veterans Administration Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was born June 23, 1911 in San Angelo, Texas the son of Thomas J. Henson and Eva Cobb Henson. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Lillie Ahrens Henson, a son Russell P. Henson and grandson Justin Henson. He is survived by 2 sons Arthur W. Henson and wife Dana of Little Rock, Arkansas and William Henson Jr. and wife Cathy of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Grandchildren Josh Henson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Kristy Smith of Clinton. Two great grandchildren Angel Cash and Amber Smith, also two brothers Herman E. Henson of Clinton and D. F. Henson of New Mexico. Two sisters Jewell Adkins and Muriel Ball both of Texas. He is also survived by other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be Monday February 9, 2004 at 2:00 pm in the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church of Shirley. Burial will be in Eglantine cemetery. The services will be conducted by Rev. Bobby Ward and Rev. Kenny Dunham with pallbearers Jim Berry, Clifton Colden, Ray Henson, Angelo Haislip, O. C. Jones and Gerald Harper. Arrangements by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc. of Heber Springs.
