Rosalee Mary Burnes

Rosalee Mary Burnes, age 78, of Heber Springs, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, November 3, 2005, at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, Arkansas. Born in Joplin, Missouri, on January 8, 1927, she was the daughter of the late James Rufus and Martha Ellen (Evans) Curl. A resident of Heber Springs since 1983, Mrs. Burnes was a retired labor and delivery nurse. She was a very creative lady who enjoyed writing poetry and drawing in addition to crocheting and knitting. Mrs. Burnes was a member of the Gospel Light Baptist Church. Her husband, Emmet Willis Burnes, preceded her in death on April 10, 1999. Mrs. Burnes was also preceded in death by one son, Robert Emmit Burnes, and two brothers, Raymond and Johnny Curl. She is survived by one son, James Vernon Burnes; two daughters, Barbara Joyce Burnes Head and Kathryn Jean Burnes; one brother, Clyde Wayne Curl and his wife, Doris; her sister-in-law, Mildred Curl; ten grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. Mrs. Burnes is also survived by other relatives and her many friends.

Visitation will be held Thursday, Nov. 10, and Friday, Nov. 11, at Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 12, at 2:00 p.m. in the Olmstead Chapel with Rev. Jim Glover officiating. Interment will follow in the Heber Springs cemetery. Pallbearers will be Daniel Bell, Clinton Burnes, Robert Burnes, James Willace Head, Timothy Malone, and Jerimiah Burnes. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.

Mrs. Hazel Clark

Mrs. Hazel Clark, age 88, of Shirley, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, November 3, 2005 in Van Buren County, Arkansas. She was born September 22, 1917.

Mrs. Clark was a lifetime resident of the Settlement community, and she was a member of the Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Troy Clark, and her son, Buck Clark.

Mrs. Clark is survived by her granddaughter, Doris Robbins and her husband, Ernie, of Heber Springs, her daughter-in-law, Obie Clark of Heber Springs, and several other relatives.

Graveside services will be held Sunday, Nov. 6, at 2:00 p.m. in the Settlement cemetery. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.

Doranne Virginia Forster

Doranne Virginia Forster, age 87, formerly of Heber Springs, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday, November 1, 2005, at Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, Illinois. Born in Great Falls, Montana, on February 3, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Bert and Marie (Hockfofler) Pichler.

Before her retirement to Heber Springs, Doranne had been a Lake County, Illinois, resident for more than twenty-eight years. She was a former member of St. Joseph Parish and a member of the Guild of the B.V.M. Mrs. Forster had been employed at Libertyville High School and had belonged to the Saints and Swingers Square Dance Club. She was an avid crafter and spent any free time reading.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Philip C. Forster in 1997; her granddaughter; sisters, Mary Springer and Helen Hansen; two infant brothers, and her daughter-in-law, Dorothy Forster.

Survivors include her children, Philip C. Forster of Wisconsin, Tom Forster and his wife, Joan, of Missouri, Kathy Boysen and her husband, Bill, of Arkansas, Bob Forster and his wife, Elizabeth, of Wildwood, Illinois, Ray Forster and his wife, Sandy, of Gurnee, Illinois, and Marian Garcia and her husband, Ted of Arkansas; her sisters, Catherine Peterson and Viola Fredrick, both of Burbank, Illinois; and 28 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Sunday, Nov. 6, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc. Funeral mass will be held Monday, Nov. 7, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Albert’s Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Cleburne County Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.

Betty Jean Callender Howard

Betty Jean Callender Howard, 81, passed away on Wednesday, November 2, 2005 after a short illness. She and her husband, Jim, retired to Heber Springs from Lake Providence, Louisiana after 25 years in the farm equipment business. Mrs. Howard was a loving person who enjoyed a large circle of friends. She was an active member of the First Methodist Church, a loyal member of Cleburne County Republican Women and a volunteer at Margie's Haven House, a woman's shelter in Heber Springs. Although quite active in earlier years she was an inactive member of Eastern Star and Lady Shriners.

Mrs. Howard led a varied and interesting life. After graduating from Forest High School in Jackson, Mississippi, she joined the Navy Waves in 1942 and served stateside at a secret night fighter base in Vero Beach, Florida where pilots were trained to use the then, ultra secret, radar. It was there she met and married a young marine named Jim Howard, 61 years ago. A very patriotic person, she wore an American flag pin every day. She was also a member of American Legion Post 64 of Heber Springs.

After World War II, she attended college at Mississippi State University, began her family and worked actively with her husband to establish a very successful farm equipment business in Lake Providence, Louisiana.

Mrs. Howard is survived by her husband Jim Howard; three children, Betty Yerger and her husband George, Buddy Howard and his wife Paula and Billie Kirkpatrick and her husband Mike, all of Heber Springs and eight grandchildren: Susan Yerger of Los Angeles, California, Sizer Yerger of Shreveport, Louisiana, Brandi Howard and Ashley Howard of Dallas, Texas, Trey Howard of Heber Springs, Ryan Kirkpatrick at Mississippi State University in Starkville, Mississippi, and Tonya Kirkpatrick and Olivia Kirkpatrick of Heber Springs.

The funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, November 5 in the First Methodist Church at 1 PM. with burial in Cleburne County Memorial Gardens. Visitation is at Olmstead Funeral Home on Friday, November 4 from 5 to 8 PM.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Margie's Haven House in Heber Springs or the Shriners’ Hospitals for Children in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Ella May Adams

Ella May Adams, age 93, of Tumbling Shoals, Arkansas, passed away Monday, October 31, 2005, at Beverly Health Care in Heber Springs, Arkansas. Born in Cleburne County, Arkansas, on April 19, 1912, she was the daughter of the late James Clifton and Rosa Etta (Staggs) Hartwick.

A lifetime resident of Cleburne County, Mrs. Adams was a homemaker and mother. She especially enjoyed gardening, quilting, and taking care of her family. Her religious belief was nondenominational.

Mrs. Adams is survived by her husband, John C. Adams of Tumbling Shoals; three sons, Loyce (Joe) Adams and his wife, Clair, of Kingman, Arizona; and Brad Adams and Wayne Adams, both of Tumbling Shoals; five daughters, Lucille Jackson and her husband, Jack, of Tumbling Shoals, Altha Ann Brown of University Park, Iowa, Marie Dollar and her husband, Gerald, of Damascus, Delsa Adams of North Little Rock, and Helen Price and her husband, Bennie, of Wilburn; two brothers, Thurman Hartwick and his wife, Erma Dean, of Letona, and Paul Hartwick and his wife, Ruth, of Ida; one sister, Thella Miller of Ida; sixteen grandchildren, twenty-five grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Adams is also survived by other relatives and her many friends.

Services were held Friday, November 4, 2005 in the Olmstead Chapel at 2:00 pm with Pastor Odell Altom officiating. Interment followed in the Adams cemetery.

Birthel Fisher

Birthel Fisher, daughter of the late Floyd and Emmy (Grissom) Goff passed away Friday, January 24, 2003 at Baptist Hospital in Heber Springs, Arkansas.

Born in Yell county, Arkansas on February 28, 1911, she was 91 years of age.

Birthel lived in Cleburne county all of her life.

She was a member of Wesley Chapel Freewill Baptist Church, loved gardening, was a homemaker, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and a great great-grandmother.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Floyd in 1969, a brother, Garland Goff and a sister, Lavester Akins.

She is survived by her daughters, Freda Six of Searcy, Ima Gene Doyle of Ravenelle, South Carolina, Erma Gene Farnam of Quitman, Elvena Taylor of Heber Springs, and Marketa Murray of Rose Bud. A sister, Geneva Newton of Cabot, 17 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, many great-great, grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.

Visitation started Saturday 1:00 p.m. at Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc. in Heber Springs.

Services were held Monday, 2:00 p.m. at Wesley Chapel

Freewill Baptist church with Rev. Terry Hill officiating.

Interment followed at Wesley Chapel cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were, Billy Fisher, Loy Everett Fisher, Sam Brown, Delbert Newton, Gary Tulley and Jesus Alfaro.

WILLIS JEWELL McCOLLUM, AGE 64, passed away SATURDAY, OCT. 29, 2005 AT HIS HOME. HE WAS BORN AUGUST 3, 1941 AT NEELYVILLE, MISSOURI . Mr. Jewell Milton Bonner

Mr. Jewell Milton Bonner, age 82, of Heber Springs, Arkansas, passed away at his home on Monday, December 26, 2005. Born in Charleston, Arkansas, on August 28, 1923, he was the son of the late William Robert and Mary Elizabeth (Aldridge) Bonner.

Mr. Bonner was a farmer, raising chicken and cattle, and he was a veteran of the United States Army. A lifetime resident of Cleburne County, Mr. Bonner enjoyed fishing. His religious belief was Baptist. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Herman and Clifton Bonner; five sisters, Verda Yoes, Cleo Pierce, Elsa Abbott, Gertie Clark, and Lola Wildman; and one grandchild.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Louise (Walker) Bonner of Heber Springs; four sons, Larry Bonner of Greers Ferry, Kenneth Dale Bonner of Jacksonville, North Carolina, Carl Bonner of Lerna, Illinois, and Edward Bonner of Tumbling Shoals; two daughters, Jan Swan and Wanda Foust, both of Heber Springs; twelve grandchildren, and his nieces and nephews. Mr. Bonner is also survived by other relatives and his many friends.

Visitation will be held Thursday, Dec. 29, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc. Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 30, at 2:00 p.m. in the Olmstead Chapel with Rev. Jeff Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in the South Cross Roads cemetery with military honors provided by the V.F.W. Post 3543. Brandon Bonner, Colby Swan, Shane Swan, Steve Smith, Gary Smith, and Stanley Wildman will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer is Kevin Foust. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.

Mr. James Murriel Jackson

Mr. James Murriel Jackson, age 76, of Quitman, Arkansas, passed away Saturday, December 24, 2005, at the Paramount Rehab and Health Care Center in Pasadena, Texas. Born in Douglass, Wyoming, on April 28, 1929, he was the son of the late James Harvey and Piney Grace (Kermoade) Jackson.

A resident of Quitman for twenty-two years, Mr. Jackson was a retired safety engineer. He had served as a Boy Scout troop leader and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Mr. Jackson’s wife, Elsie Mildred (Curtis) Jackson, preceded him in death on February 23, 2003.

Survivors include four sons, Ralph Jackson, Frank Jackson, and Hans Clausen, all of Quitman, and Aaron Jackson of Pasadena, Texas; five daughters, Diane Hurrle, Lillian Fox, and Louise Mulkay, all of Los Angeles, California, Jean Wofford of Oregon, and Nellie Brady of Quitman; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. Jackson is also survived by other relatives and his many friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Jackson will be held Thursday, Dec. 29, at 2:00 p.m. in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at Quitman with Bishop Barton Sherwood officiating. Interment will follow in the Rose Bud cemetery. Pallbearers will be Daniel Jackson, Frank Jackson, Phillip Jackson, Aaron Jackson, Ralph Jackson, and Hans Clauson. Mrs. Hilde Bohler Corridan

Mrs. Hilde Bohler Corridan, age 89, of Heber Springs, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2005, at the Southridge Village Nursing Center in Heber Springs. Born in Cologne, Germany, on September 29, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Jakob and Elizabeth Ellen (Berger) Bohler.

A resident of Heber Springs since 1977, Mrs. Corridan was a retired secretary and translator for the United States Army. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Her husband, James V. Corridan, preceded her in death on November 26, 2000.

Mrs. Corridan’s survivors include her sister-in-law, Georgiana Pargin of Lawrenceville, Illinois; her friend Ron Gillespie of Heber Springs, and her many other friends.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, Dec. 28, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 29, at 11:00 a.m. in the Olmstead Chapel with Rev. John Miles officiating. Interment will follow in the National cemetery in Little Rock. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.

Mrs. Betty Rhea Fall

Mrs. Betty Rhea Fall, age 83, of Heber Springs, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2005, at Beverly Health Care. Born in Heber Springs on October 24, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Altha (Hassell) Chastain.

A lifetime resident of Heber Springs, Mrs. Fall was a retired cashier and teller for the Heber Springs State Bank. She enjoyed her family and her grandchildren, playing bridge, and fishing. Mrs. Fall was a member of the First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo P. Fall, on October 30, 1997.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Janette Fall of Heber Springs; two grandchildren, Franklin Fall, and Natalie Norton and her husband, Darrell; one great-granddaughter, Olivia Norton; and her cousin, Arline Smith of Heber Springs. Mrs. Fall is also survived by other relatives and her many friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Fall will be held Friday, December 23, at 3:00 p.m. in the Olmstead Chapel with Rev. John Miles officiating. Interment will follow in the Heber Springs cemetery. Pallbearers will be Carlton Sanders, Guy Storm, Jim Ramsey, Greg Robus, Darrell Norton, Howell Jackson, and Bill Deckard. Honorary pallbearers are S. B. Rector, Felts Rector, and Walter Aldridge. Mrs. Dixie Pauline (Tackett) Sales

Mrs. Dixie Pauline (Tackett) Sales, age 76, of Bauxite, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2005, at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, Arkansas. Born August 11, 1929, in Higden, Arkansas, she was the daughter of the late Killis and Zora (Chalk) Tackett.

She was a graduate of the high school at Higden, and on June 1, 1950, she was married to Alvin Cled Sales. Mrs. Sales was a homemaker and mother, and she was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband of fifty-five years, Alvin Cled Sales of Bauxite; three sons, Gary Lee Sales, Larry Don Sales, and David Wayne Sales, all of Bauxite; one daughter, Brenda Gail Darter of Mt. George; two brothers, William Tackett of Mississippi, and James Tackett of Higden; three sisters, Marie Davidson and Lavada Foster, both of Batesville, and Maxine Meeks of Concord; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Mrs. Sales is also survived by other relatives and her many friends.

Visitation will be held Thursday, Dec. 22, at the Higden Church of Christ from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 23, at 2:00 p.m. in the Higden Church of Christ with Joe Spaulding officiating. Interment will follow in the Higden-McLehaney cemetery. Pallbearers will be Junior Foster, Josh Foster, Mark McDonald, Doug Noell, Jason Gay, and Clay Thompson. BEULAH ARLETA JAMES, DAUGHTER OF THE LATE JAMES O. CONKLIN AND SARA E. (HOLMAN) CONKLIN, passed away SUNDAY, DECEMBER 18, 2005 AT WHITE COUNTY HOSPITAL IN SEARCY, ARKANSAS. BORN IN MISSOURI, ON SEPTEMBER 3, 1913, SHE WAS 92 YEARS OF AGE. HER RELIGIOUS BELIEF WAS NAZARENE. SHE WAS A MEMBER OF THE HOME DEMONSTRATION CLUB AND ENJOYED COOKING AND SEWING. BESIDES HER PARENTS, BEULAH WAS preceded in death BY HER HUSBAND, C.N. JAMES WHO passed away MAY 7, 1974, TWO SONS, LILE AND DALE JAMES AND SIX BROTHERS. BEULAH IS SURVIVED BY HER DAUGHTER, DELLA FAYE KETCHUM OF HEBER SPRINGS, AR. 7 GRANDCHILDREN, 5 STEP GRANDCHILDREN, 10 GREAT GRANDCHILDREN, OTHER RELATIVES AND MANY FRIENDS.

Christine Ellen Delana Lucas

Christine Ellen Delana Lucas the daughter of John and Gracie Webb Arnold was born in Batesville, Arkansas on March 26, 1933 and passed away at White County Medical Center in Searcy, Arkansas on December 18, 2005 at the age of 72 Years. She was a retired nurse’s aid having worked at Geriatricts Nursing Home in Heber Springs. She attended the Pleasant Ridge Union Church and enjoyed cooking and reading, helping people and going to church.

She was preceded in death by her parents John and Gracie Arnold four brothers Burton Arnold, Burnis Arnold, Bill Arnold and Henry Arnold and a sister Alene Sargent. Survivors are a daughter Kathy Riggs Altom and husband Odell of Tumbling Shoals, a son Larry Riggs of Tumbling Shoals, a daughter Denise Riggs Mann and husband Paul of Tumbling Shoals, two sisters Maxine Cobb of Houston, Texas and Bertha Hagar of Wilbun. Four grandchildren Jeff Altom, Lisa Altom Rhodes, Erin Mann and Jessi Mann, Six Great Grandchildren Madison Altom, Lara Altom, Sara Rhodes Williams, Michelle Rhodes Graham, Hannah Rhodes and Lexie Rhodes. Mrs. Lucas is also survived by nieces and nephews besides other relatives and many friends.

Services were Tuesday, 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Ridge Union Church with Pastor Odell Altom officiating.

Interment followed at Pleasant Ridge cemetery with Daniel McKee, John Cobb, Jeff Altom, Daniel Graham, Paul Mann, John Rhodes, Bobby Sargent and Billy Arnold serving as pallbearers. Arrangements were by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc. Heber Springs, Arkansas.

Christopher Michael Tindoll

Christopher Michael Tindoll, the son of Christopher Lynn and Carol Renee Tomlinson Tindoll was born in Shelby, Mississippi on August 29, 29, 1978 and passed away in Conway, Arkansas on December 16, 2005 at the age of 27 years. He was an account manager in the furniture rental business and his religious belief was Baptist. He played semi-pro baseball, enjoyed water sports and golf and participated in all sports. Survivors are his parents Chris and Renee Tindoll of Heber Springs, a sister Dana Wolford and husband Michael and their children Dylan and Keely all of Searcy, a son Collin Tindoll and his mother Melissa Weber of Conway, grandparents James and Ann Tomlinson of Hot Springs.

Visitation will be Sunday, December 18, from 1:00 until 9:00 PM and Funeral Services are scheduled for Monday, December 19, 2:00 PM at Heber Springs Baptist Church with interment in Cleburne County Memorial Gardens with Rev. Mike Love officiating. Arrangements by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.

Cinda V. McGuire

Cinda V. McGuire, age 90, formerly of Heber Springs and Benton, AR passed away Saturday. She was born October 17, 1915 in Gadsden, Al. She was a member of 1st Baptist Church of Texarkana and a former member of Highland Heights Baptist Church in Benton, AR.. She was preceded in death by her husband Wallace D. McGuire.

Survivors are a daughter and son-in-law Phyllis and Michael R. Wilson of Texarkana, two sons and a daughter-in-law Phillip D. and Faye McGuire of Jefferson, TX. and Mac D. McGuire of Henderson TX. .a granddaughter, Michelle Oubre and husband Paul of Texarkana, two great-grandsons Trevor and Tye Oubre of Texarkana and two sisters Gladys McGuire and Lillace Adcock both of Bastrop, LA.

Funeral Services Monday, December 12, at 2:00 PM South Crossroads Church with interment in South Crossraods cemetery by Rev. Bob Stuckey and Larry Sims officiating. Arrangements by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.
