Edgar Lane Walker, age 85, of Hopewell, Arkansas, passed away at home on Friday, July 21, 2006. Born in Roxie, Mississippi, on January 17, 1921, he was the son of the late John Houston and Francis May (McGehee) Walker. A resident of Hopewell for two years, Mr. Walker was a former resident of Natchez, Mississippi, and he was a mill operator for Johns Manville Corporation for forty-two years. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was the recipient of the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Mr. Walker enjoyed gardening, flowers, and raising his granddaughter. He was a member of Roxie Baptist Church in Roxie, Mississippi. Mr. Walker was preceded in death by five brothers, Phillip Eugene Walker, John Houston Walker, Jr., George Clifton Walker, Marion Ray Walker, and his twin brother, Edward Cane Walker, and two sisters, Laura Elizabeth McMillian and Robbie Louise Hammack. Survivors include his wife, Frances (Woodyard) Walker of Hopewell; one daughter, Ann Noland Keller and her husband, Dan, of Hopewell; two sisters, Ruby Walker Smith of Tupelo, Mississippi, and Geneva Walker Murray of Brookhaven, Mississippi; and one granddaughter, Sarah Kathryn Keller of Hopewell. Mr. Walker is also survived by other relatives and his many friends.

Ava Sutherland Baker, of Drasco, AR
Early Thursday morning, July 20, 2006 she took her flight to a place where "they shall hunger no more, neither thirst anymore. .. .. .for the Lamb, in the midst of the throne, shall feed them, and shall lead them to living fountains of waters; and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes ".
She was born to Benjamin B. and Edith Norton Sutherland March 29, 1914. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Baker, her parents, two sisters, Regina Graham, Dovey Swanger and her brother Tanner Sutherland. She was a member of Macedonia General Baptist Church for 67 years.
As a child, she began a lifetime hobby of oil painting, and she wrote wonderful poems. God blessed her with an incredible memory that provided the theme for so many of her beautiful paintings. She deeply loved her
friends and felt their joys and sorrows as if they were her own. Painting created a visible expression of their memories.
Survivors include her sister-in-law Geneva Sutherland, her two daughters, Meredith Evans and husband Elden of Drasco, Jan Borel and husband Doug of Conway. Grandchildren are Ben Evans and Jeanie, Greg Evans and Teresa, Leah Clark and Mark Borel. Great grandchildren are Carmen Deal and Bryan, Cerissa Grammer and Jeremy, Jennifer Kuhn and Chase, Olivia Kuhn and Brandon, Daniel Bennett, Rebecca Evans, Nathan Evans and Charlie Clark. Great Great grandchildren are Mason Grammer, Matthew Grammer, Mark Grammer, Jake Evans, Justin Deal and Kaitlyn Deal, her two Nieces, one Nephew and her long time devoted friends, The Bob West family.
Callie Margaret Marr
Callie Margaret Marr, age 85, of Heber Springs, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, July 13, 2006, at Baptist Health Medical Center in Heber Springs. Born at Miller, Arkansas, on April 28, 1921, she was the daughter of the late James M. and Alice M. (Ramer) Nelson.
A lifetime resident of Cleburne County, Mrs. Marr was a mother and homemaker, and she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Heber Springs. Her husband, John Marr, preceded her in death on July 31, 1976. Mrs. Marr was also preceded in death by one son, John Clifford Marr, and one brother, Lonnie L. Nelson.
She is survived by four daughters, Mary Ann Griggs of Arnold, Missouri, Myra Burgess of Chicago, Illinois, and Gale Early and Gwen Marr, both of Heber Springs; one sister, Mary H. Spence of Heber Springs; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mrs. Marr is also survived by other relatives and her many friends.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 17, at 2:00 p.m. in the Olmstead Chapel with Dr. J. R. DeBusk officiating. Interment will follow in the Brownsville cemetery. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.
Timmons Louis Treadwell, III
Timmons Louis Treadwell, III, 83, passed away Tuesday July 4th at his home in Heber Springs, AR. Mr. Treadwell graduated from St. Paul School in Concord, NH in 1941. He attended the Univ. of Arizona until he enlisted in the Air Force. While in the Air Force he served as a 1st Lieutenant and flew for the 55th Field Artillery brigade during WW II. After the war, he returned to Memphis to be with his wife Mary and his young son Tim. In November 1945, he joined the family business, Treadwell & Harry Insurance Agency, where he worked until his retirement in 1993. During his career he was an Underwriting Member of Lloyd’s of London.
Mr. Treadwell, along with his good friends Bud Dudley and Bill McElroy, was instrumental in bringing the Liberty Bowl to Memphis in 1965. He was the first Chairman of the Liberty Bowl Festival Association and served as Chairman of the Team Selection Committee for 27 years.
Mr. Treadwell was the Director of Union Planters Corporate Board from 1972-1993 and also a Director of the Memphis Rotary Club. He also served as Chairman for the Chamber of Commerce Sports Committee. He was a member of the Memphis Country Club and former member of the Memphis Hunt & Polo Club. An avid fisherman, he belonged to the Fly Fisherman’s Club of England, the Angler’s Club of New York and the Piscatorial Society of England. He also served as Chairman of Ducks Unlimited for many years. Mr. Treadwell is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Kuebler Treadwell; his sons Timmons L. Treadwell IV (Jennifer) and Robert T. Treadwell and daughter Helen T. Kiser (Mike). "Wally" as he was lovingly known to his grandchildren also leaves behind eight grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 4 pm Friday July 7th at St. John’s Episcopal Church. A memorial Service will also be held at 1 pm on Monday July 10th at St. Francis in the Pines in Heber Springs, AR.

Betty Imogean Sutton, age 73, of Greers Ferry, Arkansas, passed away at her home on Thursday, June 29, 2006. Born in Post Oak near Miller, Arkansas, on October 6, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Elbert and Normal (Smith) Fox.
A former resident of Illinois, Mrs. Sutton had lived most of her life at Greers Ferry and was an employee of Skil Corporation for 15 years at her retirement. Mrs. Sutton was a member of the Eastern Star and the Church of Christ.
She is survived by her husband, Harold Sutton of Greers Ferry; five sons, Dennis Sutton and his wife, Lisa, of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Tommy Sutton and his wife, Tammie, of Higden, Danny Sutton of Greers Ferry, Roger Sutton and his wife, Dianne, of Kermit, Texas, and Chris Sutton of El Paso; one daughter, Myra Bates of Greers Ferry; two brothers, Harold Fox of Missouri, and Larry Fox of Heber Springs; one sister, Pauline Redman of Johnson City, Illinois; five grandsons and four granddaughters. Mrs. Sutton is also survived by other relatives and her many friends.

Larry James, Jr.
Larry James, Jr., age 36, of Drasco, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, August 13, 2006, at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, Arkansas. Born in Heber Springs, Arkansas, on July 7, 1970, he was the son of Sharon (Lacy) Phillips and the late William Larry James, Sr.
Larry was a lifetime resident of Cleburne County. He was employed by the City of Heber Springs and had worked for ten years with the Street Department. Larry enjoyed four wheelers, riding with his friends, and mud bog racing.
He is survived by his mother, Sharon Phillips of Drasco; his aunt and uncle, Shirley and Wildred Southerland of Drasco; his cousins, Bruce and Donald Southerland; and his girlfriend, Tammy Lucker. Larry is also survived by other relatives and his many friends.

Ann Egan
Ann Egan, age 76, of Heber Springs, Arkansas, passed away Saturday, September 23, 2006, at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock. Born in David City, Nebraska, on May 5, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Oscar C. and Elsie (Howser) Hinds.
A former third generation Nebraskan, Mrs. Egan was a graduate of the University of Nebraska and a member of the Alphi Phi Sorority. She had been a resident of Heber Springs since 1965, and was the former owner of Ann’s Attic. During the late 1960’s and 1970’s, Mrs. Egan was a reporter for KAWW radio station. She enjoyed talking with people and being helpful. Her wide variety of interests included bird watching, crafts, and working in politics. She loved the Arkansas Razorbacks. Mrs. Egan had served as a local council leader for the Girl Scouts, was a past member of the Ozark Folk Festival, and was involved in the Marine Aluminum Derby.
She is survived by her husband, Ted Egan of Heber Springs; one son, Keith Egan and his wife, Paula, of Cincinnati, Ohio; two daughters, Beth M. Egan and her husband, Medhat El-Sabawy, of Memphis, TN; and Amy Swain and her husband, Jeff, of North Little Rock; one sister, Mary Elizabeth (Bette) Richardson of Port Isabel, Texas; and two grandchildren, Sarah and Michael. Mrs. Egan is also survived by other relatives and her many friends.

James Thomas Banks, Jr.
James Thomas Banks, Jr., age 70, of Damascus, Arkansas, passed away Monday, September 18, 2006, at Ozark Health Medical Center in Clinton. Born in North Little Rock on February 28, 1936, he was the son of the late James T. Banks, Sr. and Mildred (Tucker) Banks.
Mr. Banks was a retired firefighter and had served as a Captain of the Little Rock Fire Department. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. An avid outdoorsman, Mr. Banks was a hunter and fisherman. He was a Mason and a member of the Howard General Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara (King) Allen Banks of Damascus; three sons, James T. Banks, III of Calico Rock, John Wesley Banks of North Little Rock, and Doug Thomas Banks of Hot Springs; two stepsons, Kim Staggs of Hayti, Missouri, and Jeff James of Columbia, Missouri; two stepdaughters, Monna Kerr of Quitman, and Kelly Staggs of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; two brothers, Bobby Joe Banks of North Little Rock and Mickey Don Banks of East End; fourteen grandchildren, Courtney Michelle Cooper, Chandra Lea Banks, Alicia Ann Banks, James T. Banks, IV, Tina Marie Banks, Briahna Kerr, Noah Staggs, Kayla Staggs, Kelsey Staggs, Zack Staggs, Nathan Wilson, Jonathan Wilson, Natalie Wilson, and Margaret Cathey; and one great grandchild, Bryson Cooper. James Paul "Rocky" Michaels
James Paul "Rocky" Michaels, of Tumbling Shoals, AR, died after a short illness September 1 at Baptist Healthcare in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was born December 29, 1923, in Kansas City, Kansas. He grew up in Mammoth Springs, Arkansas.
While serving as a fighter pilot in the Navy during World War II, he was stationed aboard the U.S.S. Gambier Bay when it was shot down by enemy gunfire off the coast of Samar in the Philippines and sank October 25, 1944.
He was self-employed as a mechanical engineer, a master plumber, held licenses for refrigeration, heating and cooling services and worked locally for the past 12 years. He was a member of the Lion’s Club for 50 years in the states of Arkansas, Missouri, Michigan, Louisiana, Texas and Tennessee. As Past District Governor for the state of Louisiana, he helped organize the school for the blind in Shreveport.
He was an active member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and served as a lay pastor in Texas, Arkansas and Tennessee.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine Plunz Michaels of Tumbling Shoals, Arkansas; and four daughters, Peggy Schadler of Vicenza, Italy, Terri Edwards of Panama Beach, Florida, Judy (Ross) Michaels Andreson of Elko, Nevada, and Debbi Michaels Rajala of Benton, Arkansas. He had seven grandchildren, Terrance, Jereme, and Adam Schadler, Elizabeth Rector, John Michael Edwards, Derek and Davin Rajala; and one great granddaughter, Gracie Rector.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. September 16 in the chapel at Olmstead Funeral Home, 601 W. Main St., Heber Springs. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at P. O. Box 122, Tumbling Shoals, AR 72581.
Grace Jenkins Davis
Grace Jenkins Davis passed away August 30, 2006 at Beverly Health Care, Heber Springs. She was 82 years old, born in Cleburne County on June 16, 1924 to the late Gurley and Ella Lane Jinkins. She was the youngest of eight siblings. On February 29, 1944 she married
Sherman “Bud” Davis. They lived most of their lives in Cleburne County except for several years in New Mexico and Colorado where Bud worked in timber, and later he was a Ranch Ranger and she was a cook at Philmont Boy Scout Ranch in Cimarron, NM.
She was predeceased by her husband on May 23, 2003 and daughter, Bobbie Davis Mills on August 30, 2003. Four brothers and one sister also preceded her in death. She is survived by her son, Harold (Marilyn) Davis; son-in-law, Dwight Mills of Paducah, KY; grandchildren, Nick Mills of Paducah, Amanda Mills (Jeff) Jordan of Port Charlotte, FL, Thomas (Tammy) Davis of Drasco, and DeeAnna Davis (Benjamin) Young of Heber Springs; great grandchildren, Jessie and Russell Davis of Drasco, Weston, Julia Mae, and Isabell Jordan of Port Charlotte, FL, Brandon Babb, Trevor Babb, and Abagail Young of Heber Springs; two sisters, Nona Odom of Batesville, MS, and Dessie Wagner of Heber Springs; many nieces and nephews as well as other family and friends.
Mrs. Davis was a long time employee of the Shirt Factory. Until her health declined she was an avid gardener. Flowers were her passion; not only were they beautiful, but she knew all of them by name and where she got them, and there were hundreds. She and Bud always had the best vegetable gardens that they shared with great pride with friends and relatives. To say she had a “Green Thumb” would be an understatement. She also enjoyed playing Scrabble, crocheting, working crossword and find a word puzzles until her eye sight kept her from doing them.
Visitation will be held Friday, Sept. 1, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc. Graveside service will be held Saturday, Sept. 2, at 2:00 p.m. at Sipes cemetery, Drasco, AR, with Dennis Ezell officiating. Pallbearers are Dwight Mills, Leon Ezell, Eddie Heathcott, Claude Jenkins, DeWayne Ezell, and Jesse Estes. Honorary pallbearers are Thomas Davis, Marvin Ezell, H. L. Raymond Joseph Stimac
Raymond Joseph Stimac, son of the late George and Mary (Malner) Stimac, passed away Friday, September 1, 2006 at his home in Greers Ferry, Arkansas. He was Born in Kinkade, Illinois on march 20, 1935. He was 71 years of age. Raymond had lived in Greers Ferry for the past four years coming from Batesville, Arkansas. Raymond’s occupation was an electrician and he enjoyed golf, hunting, fishing, and playing with his granddaughters. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Tony, John, Steve, and George Stimac, and his sisters: Francis Traska, Ann Tracy, and Caroline Bookers.
He is survived by his son: Tracy Verus of Greers Ferry, his daughter: Marcy Verus of Missouri, three brothers: Emmett Stimac of Michigan, Ralph Stimac of California, and Ed Stimac of California, three sisters: Josephine Martin of Illinois, Evonne Stimac of Illinois, and Liz Sears of Arizona, two granddaughters: Zoie and Breegan. Other relatives and many friends.
Graveside services were held Tuesday September 5, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Shiloh Cross Roads cemetery with Bro. Mike Jones officiating; Mark Dease, Jacob Dease, Doug Wilson, Carl Stephens, Tim Herrington, and Tracy Verus served as pallbearers.

Mr. Loyd Hipp
Mr. Loyd Hipp, of Prim, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, January 16, 2003, at White County Medical Center in Searcy, Arkansas. Born in Cleburne County, Arkansas, on December 8, 1916, Mr. Hipp was 86 years of age. He was the son of the late Harvey D. and Rachel (Birdsong) Hipp.
Mr. Hipp was a farmer and had been a resident of Cleburne County most of his life. He enjoyed baseball and other sports, and hunting and fishing.
Mr. Hipp’s religious belief was nondenominational. He is survived by: his wife, Ruth Smith Hipp of Prim, AR; one son, Wendell Hipp and his wife, Dana, of Prim, AR; two daughters, Norma Howard and her husband, Gary, of Harrah, Oklahoma, and Ava Sandlin and her husband, William, of Mercedes, Texas; one brother, Ray Hipp of Prim, AR; one sister, Mary Kessinger of Quitman, AR; five grandchildren, Johnny Wilson and his wife, Debbie, Gary Howard, Jr., Julie Howard Fry and her husband, Torn, Preston Hipp and his wife, Tori, and Eric Hipp; and two great grandchildren. Rachel Wilson and Myra Wilson.
Visitation will be held Friday, Jan. 17, from 6:00-8:00 P.M.at Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc. in Heber Springs. Funeral service will be held Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, at 2:00 P.M. in the Prim Full Gospel Church with Rev. Dennis Knapp, Rev. Harold Hansell, and Rev. Anthony Woods officiating.

BORN JUNE 25, 1960 IN MILLINGTON, TENNESSEE, SHE WAS 46 YEARS OF AGE. SHE HAD BEEN A PARAMEDIC IN ALABAMA AND WAS A MEMBER OF CONCORD GENERAL BAPTIST CHURCH. ANITA WAS preceded in death BY HER MOTHER, NANCY KEMP, A SON, DANIEL SCOTT BURRIS, AND A BROTHER, RICHARD KEMP, JR. SHE IS SURVIVED BY HER SON, MICHAEL CROCKER OF TUSCALOOSA, ALABAMA, HER FATHER, RICHARD KEMP OF HEBER SPRINGS, HER COMPANION, JEFF YOUNG OF ELWOOD, INDIANA, A HALF BROTHER, MARK GORE OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS, STEP BROTHERS, JIM EVANS OF CONCORD, ARKANSAS, AND TOM EVANS OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS, AUNTS, UNCLES, COUSINS, OTHER RELATIVES, AND MANY FRIENDS.
SERVICES WERE HELD MONDAY, OCTOBER 16, 2006 AT 10:00 A.M. AT MT. DEVONSHIRE COMMUNITY CHURCH WITH REV. JOHN CATES OFFICIATING. INTERMENT FOLLOWED AT SOUTH CROSS ROADS cemetery WITH MARK GORE, ALLEN MADDRA, WAYNE BOYKIN, RONNIE BOYKIN, TERRY BOYKIN, AND JERRY WILSON SERVING AS PALLBEARERS. ARRANGEMENTS WERE MADE BY OLMSTEAD FUNERAL HOME, HEBER SPRINGS.
Naomi Katherine 'Kitty' Janzen Nelson
Naomi Katherine 'Kitty' Janzen Nelson, 83, passed away after a brief illness Friday, January 31, 2003 at John F. Kennedy Hospital in lndio, California. Kitty was born in Emporia Kansas, but lived in central Arkansas most of her life. She happily spent her life in loving service to her family and many friends as well as to others through her work, which officially ended in 1980 when she retired as Activities Director of the Willow House in North Little Rock. In her retirement she enjoyed most her membership and faithful service in Brownsville Baptist Church with her husband Lonnie Nelson, who preceded her in death. She also recently enjoyed two years of service to Central Baptist Church in India, California.
She is survived by her son Ben Thomson of North Little Rock; her son, Tommy Thomson, and his wife Judee, of India, California and two sisters: Mary Frances “Fanny” Riley of Chilhowee Missouri and Dorothy Elizabeth “Libby” Lewis of Coachella, California. She is also survived by her three grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 4, 2003 from 5-7 pm at Olmstead Funeral Home in Heber Springs, Arkansas.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 5, 2003 at Brownsville Baptist Church, Brownsville, Arkansas at 2:00 pm.
A memorial service will also be held on Tuesday at Central Baptist Church in Indio, California.
