Irene Carr

Irene Carr, age 82, of Greers Ferry, Arkansas, went to be with Jesus while at St. John’s Mercy Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, on Saturday morning, April 16, 2005. Born in Prim, Arkansas, on April 19, 1922, she was the daughter of the late John and Myrtle (Verser) Carlton. A longtime resident of Cleburne County, Mrs. Carr was a homemaker. She was the greatest mother and grandmother after God’s own heart. She was a member of the Greers Ferry First Assembly of God Church. She is survived by her husband, Thurman Robert (Bob) Carr of Greers Ferry; one son, T. R. Carr of Hazelwood, Missouri, and his wife, Lucy, and their son, Doug; one daughter, Carolyn Sue Hill of Ballwin, Missouri, and her husband, Frank W. Hill, and their children, Craig Boling and wife, Courtney, Ryan Boling, Tiffany Leister and husband, Randy, and their son, James Ryan, and Jennifer Brittany Hill. two brothers, Jeff Carlton and Julian Carlton; and one sister, Mary Lee Stark. Mrs. Carr is also survived by other relatives and her many friends.

Visitation will be held Monday, April 18, at the Greers Ferry First Assembly of God Church beginning at 3:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 19, at 10:00 A.M. in the Greers Ferry First Assembly of God Church with Pastor Jeremy Smith and T. R. Carr officiating. Interment will follow in Shiloh Cross Roads cemetery. Pallbearers will be T. R. Carr, Doug Carr, Frank W. Hill, Craig Boling, Ryan Boling, and Randy Leister. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.

James B. (Jimmy) Phelps

James B. (Jimmy) Phelps, age 66, died at his home in Heber Springs on Sunday, April 17, 2005, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Mr. Phelps was born in Jackson, TN, on January 1, 1939, to James T. and Helen F. Phelps. He is survived by his wife, Sandra; three daughters, Mary Cook and husband Steve of Bartlett, TN, Judy Britton and husband Mike of Heber Springs, and Lea Ann Phelps of Nashville, TN; one step-son, Jeff King of Nashville, TN; five grandchildren, Dustin Britton of Conway, AR, Bo Britton of Heber Springs, Daniel, Amy, and Paul Cook, all of Bartlett, TN; one sister, Vivian DeCosta of Cocoa Beach, FL; and three nieces, Terry Fisher and Kathy Warriner of Florida, and Jo Anne Simpson of Mississippi. Mr. Phelps lived in Memphis, TN, most of his life and retired from the Memphis Police Department before moving to Heber Springs in 1990. He sold real estate for Brock and Associates Real Estate and Heber Springs Realty. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and an avid fly fisherman.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church in Heber Springs. Burial will be in Cleburne County Memorial Gardens with Rev. John Miles officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Olmstead Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Larry Anderson, Bobby Flaherty, Wesley Harris, Jim Hazlewood, Barry Moore, and Bill Patton. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.

Edward Larry Pierce

Edward Larry Pierce, age 57, of Mt. View, Arkansas, passed away Saturday, April 16, 2005, in Stone County. Born October 22, 1947, in Heber Springs, Arkansas, he was the son of the late Edward and Lethie (Hensley) Pierce. A former resident of Quitman, Mr. Pierce had lived in Mt. View for several years, and he was employed as a floor covering salesman. A veteran of the United States Army, he served in Vietnam, and he was a member of the V.F.W. Mr. Pierce enjoyed fishing and hunting, playing guitar, and dancing. His religious belief was Southern Baptist. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Sue Pierce and Anna Rust. He is survived by his wife, Noemi (Baltran) Pierce; one son, Corey Pierce; one daughter, Allison Pierce, all of Mt. View; seven stepchildren; and one grandchild, Germain. Mr. Pierce is also survived by other relatives and his many friends.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 19, 2005, from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 20, at 2:00 P.M. in the Olmstead Chapel with Rev. Kevin Sexton officiating. Interment will follow in the Pearson cemetery. Fletcher Hensley, Farris Hensley, Buddy House, Steve Adams, Mike Gulley, and Leonard Albrecht will serve as pallbearers. Nellie Marr Clark

Nellie Marr Clark, age 96, of Heber Springs, Arkansas, passed away at her home on Monday, April 18, 2005. Born in Shiloh, Arkansas, on January 14, 1909, she was the daughter of the late William and Annie Stark Marr. A lifetime resident of Cleburne County, Mrs. Clark was a school teacher for several years, and she taught in rural schools with her husband, James N. Clark. Her husband preceded her in death in 1964. Mrs. Clark raised her family in the Mt. Olive Baptist Church at Valley Special and always loved seeing the young people from that area when they came home to visit. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Heber Springs. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Clark was preceded in death by her parents; one son, James V. Clark, two daughters, Marnelle Mays and infant Jan Clark; two sons-in-law, Glenn Phillips and Herschel Mays; three brothers, Maynos, Neil, and John Marr; and three sisters, Kate Murphree, Hannah Walters, and Ina Sneed. She is survived by one son, John Clark and his wife, Kaye; one daughter, Ann Goff and her husband, Bill; daughter-in-law, Jean Clark; one brother, Edd Marr and his wife, Swannie; two sisters, Hope Brooks and Leone Poole; sisters-in-law, Callie Marr and Leatha Marr twelve grandchildren, Danny Phillips, Glenda Edwards, Kimla Yates, Kerri Hladky, Judith Kraay, Rhonda Henderson, Vonda Stepp, Gary Mays, Michael Mays, Janet Edwards, Wayne Clark, and Arden Clark; twenty-one great-grandchildren, and eleven great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Clark is also survived by other relatives and her many friends.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, April 20, 2005, at 11:00 A.M. in the Olmstead Chapel with Dr. J. R. DeBusk officiating. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.

Edward A. (Eddie) Nelson

Edward A. (Eddie) Nelson, age 54, of Quitman, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2005, at the Ozark Health Medical Center in Clinton, Arkansas. He was born March 31, 1951, in Heber Springs, Arkansas. Eddie was a millwright and served in the United States Army Reserve. A lifetime resident of Quitman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Eddie was a member of the Sardis General Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father, Fred A. Kennedy. He is survived by his wife, Frances Sue (Crow) Nelson; one son, A. J. Nelson; one daughter, Lacey Nelson, all of Quitman; one stepson, Bill Dowdy of Clinton; his mother, Vaughtleen (Parish) Kennedy of Quitman; two sisters, Betty Payton of Jacksonville and Tricia Hartwick of Guy; three step-grandchildren, and two step-great-grandchildren. Eddie is also survived by other relatives and his many friends.

A memorial service will be held Friday, April 22, at 11:00 A.M. in the Olmstead Chapel. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.

Roy Lee Wood

Roy Lee Wood, age 73, of Shirley, Arkansas, passed away at his home on Thursday, April 14, 2005. Born in White County, Arkansas, on December 24, 1931, he was the son of the late James W. and Ethel (Smith) Wood. Mr. Wood was a retired inspector for Caterpillar Manufacturing. He served as a military policeman in the United States Army during the Korean War. Mr. Wood was a member of the Maranatha Assembly of God Church in Shirley. He is survived by his wife, Addie Mae (Johnson) Wood of Shirley; three sons, Larry Duane Wood of Shirley, James Albert Wood of South Pekin, Illinois, and Jason Harold Wood of Columbia, South Carolina; two daughters, Deborah Lee Veach of South Pekin, Illinois, and Doris Jean Zimmerman of Germantown Hills, Illinois; one sister, Velma Rexine Pearce of Toledo, Oregon; one half brother, Charles Stark of Louisiana; one half sister, Mary Woodard of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; sixteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mr. Wood is also survived by other relatives and his many friends.

Visitation will be held Saturday, April 16, from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at the Olmstead Woodland Chapel in Edgemont. Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 17, at 2:00 P.M. in the Maranatha Assembly of God Church with Rev. Lee Brown and Rev. Jim Wooley officiating. Interment will follow in the Davis Special cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jerry Wood, Bryan Veach, Justin Veach, Adam Veach, Roger Thomas, and Eddie Hartsell. Donald Ray Liles

Donald Ray Liles, of Heber Springs, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2005, at Beverly Health Care in Heber Springs. He was the son of George Thurman Liles and Rosemary Hatfield. Born in Heber Springs on January 10, 1964, he was 41 years of age. Donald grew-up in Cleburne County. He had been a resident of Little Rock for most of his life and worked in roofing and construction. His religious belief was Pentecostal. Donald was preceded in death by two brothers, Johnny and Larry Liles, and by his step-father, Claud Hatfield. He is survived by one son, Daniel Liles of Heber Springs; one daughter, Tiffany Liles of Heber Springs; his father, George Liles of Ida; his mother, Rosemary Hatfield of Heber Springs; one brother, Mark Liles of Heber Springs; and two sisters, Debbie Bruster of Ida, and Shirley Anderson of Heber Springs. Donald is also survived by other relatives and his many friends.

George Pierce Bliss

George Pierce Bliss, age 88, of Shirley, Arkansas, passed away Monday, April 11, 2005, at the Ozark Health Nursing Center in Clinton. Born in Amoret, Missouri, on February 6, 1917, he was the son of the late George Walker and Effie Alice (Pierce) Bliss. A lifetime resident of Van Buren County, Mr. Bliss was a farmer and a retired employee of Fairfield Bay Water Works. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Army Air Corps. Mr. Bliss’ religious belief was Protestant. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lula Cates Bliss, and by four brothers, Perry and Chester Bliss, Charles Coyne, and Hilton Richards; three sisters, Lucy Cates, Marcia Cox, and Mabel Bliss; and one niece, Lilly Cates Harmon. He is survived by five nieces, Oleeta Goodnight McElroy of Clinton, Helen Blizzard Johnson and Virginia Cates, both of Little Rock, Marcia Girdler of Conway, and Jo Babbitt of Ft. Smith; and four nephews, David Cates and Robert Blizzard, both of Shirley, and Charles Bliss and Harold Bliss, both of Waldron. Mr. Bliss is also survived by other relatives and his many friends.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 12, from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Olmstead Woodland Chapel. Services will be held Wednesday, April 13, at 2:00 P.M. in the Shirley Community Church. Interment will follow in the Settlement cemetery. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.

Dessie Spears Butler Cockrum

Dessie Spears Butler Cockrum, age 86, of Pangburn, Arkansas, passed away at her home on Saturday, April 9, 2005. Born in Heber Springs, Arkansas, on July 9, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Elder L. R. and Hestie (Grissom) Spears. Mrs. Cockrum was a homemaker and a member of the Glad Tidings Missionary Baptist Church at Pangburn. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Domer Butler, and by her husband, A. Delbert Cockrum. Mrs. Cockrum was a member of the Extension Homemakers Club at Pangburn, active in Senior Citizens, and a member of the Pick Club. She is survived by two sons, Julius Butler and his wife, Kathy, and Larry Dean Butler and his close friend, Jean, all of Benton Harbor, Michigan; one daughter, Linda Butler Addison and her husband, Aaron, of Heber Springs; one brother, Truman Spears of Alabama; one sister, Jewel Spears Harral of Mt. Vernon; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Mrs. Cockrum is also survived by other relatives and her many friends.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 12, from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 13, at 10:00 A.M. in the Olmstead Chapel. Interment will be in the North Shore Memory Garden in Michigan.

Vesta Middleton

Vesta Middleton of Weatherford, Texas, formerly of Quitman, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, April 10, 2005, in Ft. Worth, Texas. She was the daughter of the late Homer Thomas and Lula Clay Thomas. Born November 14, 1913, she was 91 years of age. She is survived by: two sons, Robert Middleton and his wife, Judy, of Weatherford, Texas, and Bill Middleton and his wife, Jamie, of Siloam Springs; three daughters, Mary Reichardt and her husband, Russell, of Missouri City, Texas, Ruth Sherrer and her husband, Henry, of Fort Worth, Texas, and Sarah Connell and her husband, Julian, of Haughton, Louisiana; fourteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.

Graveside services for Mrs. Middleton will be held Friday, April 15, at 2:00 P.M. in the Quitman cemetery. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.

Bruce Owen Bengtson

Bruce Owen Bengtson, age 57, of Greers Ferry, Arkansas, passed away at his home on Sunday, April 10, 2005. Born in Oakland, California, on December 27, 1947, he was the son of the late Earl S. and Lorraine (Lamothe) Bengtson. Mr. Bengtson was a cook and truck driver. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served in the United States Marines. Mr. Bengtson’s religious belief was Baptist. He is survived by one brother, Kenneth Bengtson of Seattle, Washington; one sister, Bonnie Sprouse of Greers Ferry; and his stepfather, Gus Pierce of Greers Ferry.

Loyd Glenn Cates

Loyd Glenn Cates, age 61, of Tumbling Shoals, Arkansas, passed away Friday, April 8, 2005, at the Baptist Health Medical Center in Heber Springs. He was born in Drasco, Arkansas, on March 20, 1944. Mr. Cates was a lifetime resident of Cleburne County. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served as a sergeant in the 1st Infantry Division. He was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal 1st Oak Leaf Cluster, Air Medal, the Silver Star for gallantry in action, and Purple Heart. He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans, Lifetime member of the American Legion, and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a member of Sugar Loaf Lodge #414. Above all, he was a devout Christian and a member of the Chastain Chapel General Baptist Church in Tumbling Shoals, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, John W. and Sarah Richardson Cates, one sister, Lillian Engleman, and one brother, Louis Cates. He is survived by his wife, Donna Kennedy Cates and one son, Scott Glenn Cates of Tumbling Shoals. He is also survived by three sisters, Lucy Reeves of Greers Ferry, AR, Alma Lancaster of Heber Springs, AR, and Violet Webb of Fairbanks, Alaska; and two brothers, Marvin Cates of Hopewell, AR, and Leon Cates of Hector, AR. Mr. Cates is also survived by other relatives and his many friends.

Visitation will be held Monday, April 11, from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 12, at 2:00 P.M. in the Chastain Chapel Church with Pastor Eric Decker and Rev. Terry Mote officiating. Interment will be in the Chastain cemetery. Barbara (B. J.) West Pinkerton

Barbara (B. J.) West Pinkerton, age 22, of Greers Ferry, Arkansas, passed away Saturday, April 9, 2005, at Wolf Bayou, Arkansas. Born in Paris, Arkansas, on November 16, 1982, she was the daughter of Juanita Cowley Taylor. B. J. was a homemaker and member of the Democratic Women of Cleburne County. Her religious belief was Baptist. B. J. is survived by her husband, Bryan Pinkerton of Greers Ferry; her mother and stepfather, Nita and Phil Taylor of Heber Springs; one brother, Kevin Doll and his wife, Christine, of Greenbrier; her grandparents, Buck and Vicki Cowley of New Blaine; her great-uncle, Roy Cowley of New Blaine; and her nieces and nephews. B. J. is also survived by other relatives and her many friends.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held Saturday, April 16, from 2:00-4:00 P.M. at the big pavilion at Dam Site Park. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.

Jayne S. Sneed

Jayne S. Sneed, age 44, of Heber Springs, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2005, at Baptist Health Medical Center in Heber Springs. Born March 9, 1961, in Heber Springs, she was the daughter of Theodore Sneed and the late Helen Bradley Sneed. Jayne was a lifetime resident of Heber Springs and worked as a secretary and bookkeeper. She was a member of Heber Springs First General Baptist Church. She is survived by her father, Ted Sneed of Heber Springs; three brothers, Jerry Sneed of Greers Ferry, Darrell Sneed of Heber Springs, and Bruce Sneed of Little Rock; her friend, Bruce Jameson of Heber Springs; and her nieces and nephews. Jayne is also survived by other relatives and her many friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, April 8, from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc. Graveside services will be held Saturday, April 9, at 10:30 A.M. at the Brownsville cemetery with Rev. Homer Branscum officiating. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.

Mrs. Lena Mae (Hartsell) Forbus McGuire

Mrs. Lena Mae (Hartsell) Forbus McGuire, age 72, of Rose Bud, Arkansas, passed away Friday, April 8, 2005, at White County Medical Center in Searcy, Arkansas. Born in White County, Arkansas, on December 14, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Posey and Ida (Edwards) Hartsell. A lifetime resident of White County, Mrs. McGuire was a homemaker and loving mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Rose Bud Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Forbus, and her husband, Doyle McGuire, and stepfather, L. D. Crockett. She is survived by one daughter, Nelda English and her husband, Clyde, of Rose Bud; two sisters, Annie Larson of Coolidge, Arizona, and Irene Head of Rose Bud; one grandson, Jeremy English and his wife, Christy, of Rose Bud, and Misty Ladd and her husband, Phillip, of Holland, Arkansas; and one great-grandson, Bryce Ladd. Mrs. McGuire is also survived by other relatives and her many friends.

Visitation will be held Sunday, April 10, from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 11, at 11:00 A.M. in the Olmstead Chapel with Bro. Thelma M. Long Bradshaw

Thelma M. Long Bradshaw, age 96, of Heber Springs, Arkansas, passed away Friday, April 8, 2005, at Southridge Village Nursing Center in Heber Springs. Born at Mountainburg, Arkansas, on January 6, 1909, she was the daughter of the late William and Srilda (Berna) Reavis. Mrs. Bradshaw was a homemaker and mother, and she was a member of the Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Hershel Long and William Bradshaw, and by one son, Deward Long. She is survived by four sons, P. L. Long, Rosco Long, and Dewey Long, all of Heber Springs, and Leo Long of Wilburn; eleven grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Bradshaw is also survived by other relatives and her many friends.

Visitation will be held Saturday, April 9, from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc. Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 10, at 2:00 P.M. in the Olmstead Chapel with Lance Mays and Jeff Long officiating. Interment will follow in the Magness cemetery. Pallbearers will be Rick Long, Randy Long, Rick Logan, David Hayes, Anthony Gann, and Jeff Long. Her grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.

Martha Rose Barnett

Martha Rose Barnett, originally of Heber Springs, went to her eternal rest on Monday, April 4, 2005. Martha, or Riar as she was known to her family, was born on December 10, 1917 in Heber Springs to Roscoe and Nell Harness. After serving in the Red Cross during World War II and flying with American Airlines, she married H. C. Barnett on August 10, 1947. She and Mutt were together for nearly fifty years until he preceded her in death in 1997. Mutt and Martha spent most of their years in Jonesboro where he practiced medicine and farmed, and she enjoyed her many friends. Martha was a joy to all who knew her; she loved life and her bridge games. Although she served on the board of the Salvation Army and worked with Junior Auxiliary, her major focus in life was her husband and children.

Martha is survived by her three children and their families: David and Pam Barnett of Little Rock, Don Barnett of Sacramento, California, and Janie and Bill Eldridge of Fayetteville; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

A memorial service will be held at two Wednesday afternoon in the chapel at Olmstead Funeral Home following a family burial. The family will be receiving friends following the service at 1418 Riveria Cove. For those wishing to make a contribution instead of flowers, the family asks that they consider the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Arrangements: Olmstead Funeral Home, Heber Springs.

Leon Bradford Payne

Leon Bradford Payne, 85, of the Eglantine community near Shirley, Arkansas, died Monday, April 4, 2005, at Indian Rock Village Nursing Home in Fairfield Bay where she had been a resident for the past fourteen months. She was born November 14, 1919, in Eglantine to the late Willie and Sally Walley Bradford.

Mrs. Payne retired from Banquet Foods in Clinton and was a homemaker after retiring. She was a member of the Eglantine Church of Christ and a lifelong resident of Eglantine. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Payne; one stepson, Bill Payne; one step-grandson, Bill Payne, Jr.; eight brothers, Dee, Joe, Bud, Cecil, Clonas, Willie, Johnny, and George; and four sisters, Jewel, Selia, Lovie, and Lucille. Survivors include three sisters-in-law, Edna, Willodene, and Opal Bradford, and many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 5, from 5:00-7:00 P.M., at the Olmstead Woodland Memorial Park Chapel. Services will be held Wednesday, April 6, at 2:00 P.M. in the Eglantine Church of Christ with Walter 'Dub' Clark officiating. Interment will follow in the Eglantine cemetery. Pallbearers will be nephews: Jerry Dale, Larry Don, and Tommy Simpkins, and Hansel, Clofus, and Lennie Bradford. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.

Mr. James Grafton Sawyer

Mr. James Grafton Sawyer, age 93, of Heber Springs, Arkansas, passed away Monday, April 4, 2005, at Southridge Village Nursing Center in Heber Springs. Born in Trimble, Tennessee, on September 30, 1911, he was the son of the late John A. and Unsic (Worsham) Sawyer. Mr. Sawyer was a retired area manager for Allstate Insurance Company with twenty-five years of service. He was a former resident of Florida and moved to Heber Springs in the fall of 1991. Mr. Sawyer was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Navy. He was a Shriner, and his religious belief was Baptist. His wife, Octavia Patricia (Padgett) Sawyer, preceded him in death on April 3, 1998. Mr. Sawyer was also preceded in death by two brothers, William Smith Sawyer and John Sawyer, and by one sister, Joy Gamble. He is survived by two sisters, Mary Alice Acuff and Maxine Pafford, both of Memphis, Tennessee; and his nieces and nephews. Mr. Sawyer is also survived by other relatives and his many friends.

Graveside services for Mr. Sawyer will be held Wednesday, April 6, at 10:00 A.M. in Cleburne County Memorial Gardens with Pastor Odell Altom officiating. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.

Mr. Arguss (Pete) Case

Mr. Arguss (Pete) Case, age 71, of Quitman, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2005, at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, Arkansas. Born in Fallsville, Arkansas, on February 24, 1934, he was the son of the late James Riley and Maggie Eveline Case. A former resident of Sherwood, Mr. Case was an iron worker and moved to Quitman in the fall of 1979. He enjoyed bluegrass music and was a member of the Bluegrass Association. Mr. Case was a member of South Cross Roads Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, John Case. He is survived by his wife, Mazelle Susan (Chastain) Case of Quitman; one son, Wesley Arguss Case of Grove, Oklahoma; one daughter, Brenda Sue Case Harris of White Hall; one brother, Rufus Case of Russellville; two sisters, Geraldine Rogers of Russellville, and Christine Gray of Lamar; and four grandchildren. Mr. Case is also survived by other relatives and his many friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, April 1, from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 2, at 10:00 A.M. in the South Cross Roads Church with Rev. Kenneth Rolland officiating. Interment will follow at 2:30 P.M. in the Price cemetery at London, Arkansas. Pallbearers will be David Case, Gene Brady, Brent Brady, J. R. Barnett, Morris Brown, and Carl Stevens. Musician friends and special friends will serve as honorary pallbearers. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.

James Keith Heigle

James Keith Heigle, age 48, of Drasco, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, March 31, 2005, at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, Arkansas. Born in Heber Springs, Arkansas, on March 18, 1957, he was the son of James Heigle and Dean Lacy Trotter. A lifetime resident of Heber Springs, Keith was a cabinet maker. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Keith’s religious belief was Baptist. He was preceded in death by one sister, Christina Adams. Keith is survived by his wife, Teresa (Long) Heigle of Drasco; two sons, Ken-tay Heigle and his wife, Stacie, of Concord; and Daniel Heigle of Drasco; his father and stepmother, James and Reta Heigle of Drasco; his mother and stepfather, Dean and Duane Trotter of Hopewell; one brother, Jeremy Heigle of Heber Springs; two stepsisters, Janet Wimberly of Jacksonville and Robin Wood of Drasco; and one grandchild, Elijah Heigle. Keith is also survived by other relatives and his many friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 2, at 2:00 P.M. in the Chastain Chapel with Pastor Odell Altom officiating. Interment will follow in the Miller cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Buddy Glenn, Adam Stubbs, Terry Bittle, Jody Rackley, Don O’gorman, James Southerland, Little Gary Euton, Terry Turney, Bruce Southerland, Melvin Farris, Roger Logan, Lyndell Deckard, Kenneth Stain, and Daniel Southerland. Iris O’Reatha Jackson

Iris O’Reatha Jackson, age 86, of Heber Springs, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2005, at Beverly Nursing Center in Heber Springs. She was born March 20, 1919, at Burleson, Tennessee, to Elizabeth Sigler and M. L. Jackson. Iris attended grade school at Simmington, Tennessee, and high school at Munford, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Finey Jackson and M. L. Jackson, and by one sister, Althea Jackson. Iris is survived by two brothers, J. G. Jackson of Atoka, Tennessee, and David Jackson of Memphis, Tennessee; two sisters, Blanch Gross of Atoka, Tennessee, and Martha Lewis of Abbeville, Mississippi, and a beloved sister-in-law, Roberta Jackson of Atoka, Tennessee. She was lovingly referred to as 'BeBe' by nieces, nephews, and children. She retired from the Sears Memphis Mail Order Plant after thirty-five years of service. Iris was an aircraft inspector in the Memphis Fisher Aircraft Plant during World War II, where she inspected B-25s. Iris lovingly referred to herself as the adoptive daughter of Flora and Phillip Sherman and the sister of Dorothy Trainer (deceased), Jennie Caruso, Frances Baggett, and Nita Sherman, all of Heber Springs. She lived with Nita, who was her caregiver, prior to her entering Beverly Nursing Center eight years ago. Iris had Alzheimer’s.

A eulogy service will be held Saturday, April 2, at 10:00 A.M. in the Olmstead Chapel. Interment will follow in Cleburne County Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.

Margaret Hill

Margaret Hill, age 75, of Cleburne, Texas, passed away Saturday, March 26, 2005, at Harris Methodist Hospital in Ft. Worth, Texas. Born in Hardy, Arkansas, on November 11, 1929, she was the daughter of the late William Henry and Bessie Ann Gladys (Shaw) Hightower. Mrs. Hill had been a resident of Cleburne, Texas, for the past five years. Prior to that, she had lived for ten years at Salado, Arkansas, and was a resident of Wilburn, Arkansas, for most of her life. She was a homemaker who enjoyed crocheting, making quilts, and reading the Bible. Mrs. Hill also enjoyed collecting newspaper clippings of family and friends for her scrapbooks. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church at Batesville. Her husband, Buel Hill, preceded her in death on August 2, 1986. Mrs. Hill was also preceded in death by a brother and a sister, who were buried at Saddle, Arkansas, and by two sisters, Vivian Lackey and Anita Wougamon, who were buried at Magness cemetery. She is survived by five sons, Gary Hill and his wife, Terrie, of Jacksonville, Arkansas, Gerald Hill and his wife, Candace, of Pangburn, Arkansas, Raymond Hill of Pleasant Plains, Arkansas, Steven Hill and his wife, Carol, of Pleasant Plains, Arkansas, and Chris Hill and his wife, Joyce, of Floral, Arkansas; four daughters, Judy Bell and her husband, Rex, of Cleburne, Texas, Peggy Phillips and her husband, Vernon, of Drasco, Arkansas, Geraldine Acree of Drasco, Arkansas, and Mary Hillis of Texas; sixteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Mrs. Hill is also survived by other relatives and her many friends.

Visitation will be held Thursday, March 31, from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at the Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 1, at 2:00 P.M. in the Olmstead Chapel with Rev. Roger Harlan and Pastor Laurie Dewitt officiating. Interment will follow in the Magness cemetery. Pallbearers will be Josh Henderson, Garry Lynn Sutherland, Jason Wayne Hill, Carl Hill, Joe Mathews, Jim Thurman, Brian Boldin, and Gary Taylor. Honorary pallbearers will be Jason Ray Hill, Lynn Branscum, Toby Hill, Donnie Little, and Tim Lamb. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.

Mrs. Lola Mae Hogan

Mrs. Lola Mae Hogan, age 79, of Quitman, Arkansas, passed away at her home on Saturday, March 26, 2005. Born in West Monroe, Louisiana, on July 30, 1925, she was the daughter of the late James Thomas and Nora (Dumas) McBroom. Mrs. Hogan was a homemaker and enjoyed her grandchildren and family. She had been a resident of Quitman for two and a half years and was a former resident of Choctaw, Arkansas. Mrs. Hogan was a member of the Choctaw Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Logan Clark, and also by her husband, Benjamin Hogan, who died in 1991. She is survived by four sons, Gerald Clark of Houston, Texas, Mike Clark and Mark Hogan, both of Quitman, and Dennis Clark and his wife, Cheryl, of Monroe, Louisiana; three daughters, Pam Scott of Dumas, Texas, Jan Eakin and her husband, Chuck, of Bee Branch, and Janet Holland and her husband, Kenneth, of Higden; one brother, William McBroom of Hot Springs; fifteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mrs. Hogan is also survived by other relatives and her many friends.

A graveside service for Mrs. Hogan will be held Saturday, April 2, at 2:00 P.M. at the Mer Rouge cemetery in Bastrop, Louisiana. Arrangements are by Golden Funeral Home.
