Lucille Kirk
Lucille Knight Kirk, 93, of Bluff City, died Tuesday at the Longmeadow Nursing Home.
She was a member of the Bluff City Baptist Church.
She is survived by her son, Wayne Kirk of Porter, Texas; three daughters, Bernell Johnson and Doris Barlow both of Bluff City, and Marjorie Ann Keith of Lockesburg; 15 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Friday at Bluff City Baptist Church with burial in Bluff cemetery. Rev. Don Coon officiated the service.
The family received friends from 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Proctor Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Lois Wicker
Lois Lewis Wicker, 86, of Prescott, died Tuesday, April 23, at Hillcrest Care and Rehab in Prescott.
She was born on August 29, 1915, in Nevada County to Marshall and Lexie Wicker Lewis.
She was a homemaker and a Pentecostal.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jewell Wicker.
Survivors include a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Graveside services were 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, at Caney cemetery, with Rev. Raymond Hicks officiating. Burial followed, with arrangements under the direction of Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home of Prescott.
Jewel Stuart
Jewel Stuart, 100, the youngest daughter of a pioneer Arkansas family, passed away Sunday morning, April 21, at 9:45, at Heritage Duval Gardens, in Austin, Texas, where she had been a resident for many years.
Stuart was the only surviving child of nine children.
Her parents were James Lawrence Stuart and Ella Coleman Stuart.
She was born in Prescott, on February 14, 1902, and moved with her family to Lamesa, Texas, and to the dry West Texas climate to ease her father's suffering with tuberculosis.

Stuart had three sisters and five brothers, including longtime Little Rock resident Henry Grady Stuart.
Stuart was buried between her father and her sister, Rosa Lee Stuart, in Lames, on Monday, April 22, following graveside services at 2 p.m.
She is survived by a nephew and eight nieces, including her niece Margaret Stuart Brigman of Little Rock, plus many great-great-great-nieces and nephews.

Dr. Joseph Baxter
Dr. Joseph Wesley Baxter, Jr., 55, died Friday, April 19.
He was a board certified physician and a member of the Diplomat American Board of Radiology, Radiologic Society of North America and the Arkansas Radiology Society.
Dr. Baxter was well known for his generosity and love for the health care profession.
He was born in Houston, Texas on October 12, 1946.
Dr. Baxter, better known as Wes to friends and family, had a love for baseball as a child and radiology as an adult. He played baseball while attending Yale University and was an All-City player in high school.
He received his Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics, Summa Cume Laude, PHD BETA KAPPA from the University of Texas at Austin in 1968; graduated from Baylor Medical School with honors in 1972.
He interned in the U.S. Army, Straight Medicine Internship, at the Letterman Army Medical Center in San Francisco, California in 1972 and 1973. He spent his residency at a number of world renown hospitals, including M.D. Anderson Hospital, Texas Children's Hospital and the Texas Heart Institute.
Dr. Baxter was a former Instructor at the Academy of Health Sciences in San Antonio, Texas, for three years and settled in Hope in 1986 as Chief Radiologist at Medical Park Hospital.
While in Hope, Dr. Baxter made numerous donations to the library at the University of Arkansas Community College in Hope and charitable organizations. He also was a faculty guest lecturer.
Dr. Baxter is survived by his family: Peggy and Jaime Starling of Delight, Robyn Starling-Ledbetter of Texarkana, Texas, Ashley Baxter of Houston, Texas; his parents, Joe and Betty Baxter of Houston; two brothers, Edward Baxter of Georgetown, Texas, and Gregory Baxter of Houston; three sisters, Elizabeth Hollingstworth of Yorktown, Va., Brenda Baxter of Georgetown, Texas and Anne Baxter of Great Barrington, Mass.
He was preceded in death by his sister Patricia Gallagher-Evans of Lexington, Va.
Funeral services were Sunday, April 28, at 2 p.m. at Shaceklford Funeral Home in Prescott with burial in Delight cemetery.
Visitation for family and friends was Saturday, April 27 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. The family was at the home of Peggy Starling in Delight.
Donations can be made to the Berkside Medical Center in Pittsville, Massachusetts.
R.C. Gavin
R.C. Gavin, 85, of Pansy died Saturday, April 27, at J.R.M.C. in Pine Bluff.
Born September 11, 1916, in Cleveland County, a son of the late Abb Gavin and Laura Morgan Gavin.
He was a retired farmer, a member of Prosperity United Methodist Church in Pansy, a member of Millcreek Lodge #178 F. and A.M., member of Order of Eastern Star, a World War II Army veteran and the widower of Marguerite Coats Gavin who died June 15, 1998. They were united in marriage August 21, 1937.
Also preceding him in death is a son Ralph Gavin, five brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include one son, Don Gavin of Woodlawn; one daughter, Betty Rasgdale of Malvern; six grandchildren, including Ricky and Teresa Ragsdale of Stamps, and 11 great-grandchildren, including RC Ragdsale, his namesake.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Monday, April 29, at Prosperity United Methodist Church in Pansy with Rev. George O'Dell officiating. Burial was in Pansy cemetery by Frazer's Funeral Home of Warren.
Active pallbearers were Steve Anderson, Darian McGee, John Jackson, Vick Gavin, Ray Gavin, and Mack Gavin.
Honorary pallbearers are Joe Mercer, Sam Mercer, Kelly Gavin, Charles Gavin, Jerry Gavin, Steve Gavin, Robert Donald Curry, Larry Johnson, Bill Gavin, Aubert Davis, Dr. Kerry Pennington and Roger Harris.
Gertrude McCorkle
Gertrude McCorkle, 89, of Prescott, died March 21, 2005, in Hope.
She was retired from Clovis Hicks Farm. She was born February 15, 1916, in Columbus. She was a member of The United Pentecostal Church of Laneburg. She was the daughter of Jessie Mullins and Edna Thompson Evans.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence McCorkle; her parents; a son, James W. McCorkle; a daughter, Eva Korenek; four brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include: two sons, Billy Ray McCorkle of East Dundee, Ill. and David McCorkle of Prescott; two daughters, Geneva McLelland of De Queen and Ima Jean Martin of Bogart, Tex.; a sister, Mildred Yates of Hope; 13 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were Thursday, March 24, 2005, at 2 p.m. at New Salem cemetery in Laneburg with Bro. Wilburn Wesson officiating, under the direction of Herndon Funeral Home.
Visitation was Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at Herndon Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to New Salem Church or New Salem cemetery.

Gladys Samuel
Gladys Burke Samuel, 92, of DeAnn died on April 23, 2002.
Born on November 7, 1909, at DeAnn, she was a daughter of Williams H. and Winnie Ola Clark Burke.
She was given a certificate of merit in 1996 from the Arkansas Extension Service for 50 years of service to the association. She was a member of the DeAnn Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school, was a communion steward and held numerous offices.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carlton R. Samuel.
Survivors include a daughter, Peggy Samuel Sikes of Hope; a son, Michael Samuel of DeAnn; a brother, Irvin Burke of Hope; a sister, Caudie Mann of Arkadelphia; four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Chapel services were held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, at Herndon Funeral Home, with Rev. Paul Lyons, Rev. Rodney Patterson and Rev. Jim Henderson officiating. Burial was in White Oak Grove cemetery.
Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Monday, April 29 at the funeral home.
Connie Hendrix
Connie Delores Burton Hendrix, was born August 8, 1954, in Prescott to Corine Sockwell and the late Willie H. Johnson.
She was raised from early childhood by Mrs. Emmer Jean Burton and the late Mr. James Burton.
She graduated from Prescott High School in 1972.
She was a member of the Faith Temple Church of God in Christ, where she accepted Christ in 1973, under the leadership of Supt. J.T. Gilmore. After marrying, she united with the Northside Church of God in Christ, where she was active until her illness.
She married
Rollin Hendrix in 1977, and to this union three children were born.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Arlene Johnson of Nebraska.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband Rollin Hendrix; two daughters, Fredecia (Aundray) Hendrix and Juwasha Hendrix of Mineral Springs; one son Quentin Hendrix of Mineral Springs; two stepchildren, Rollin Hendrix, Jr. of Springfield, Mo. and Selena Hendrix of Georgia; biological mother, Corine Sockwell; foster mother, Emmer Jean Burton of Prescott; four brothers, Karl Wilson, Mike Murphy, James Murphy and Kenneth Mooreland all of Prescott; eight sisters, Joyce Collins, Charlotte Murphy, Brenda (Charles) Martin of Prescott, Margaret Carol McGee of Ashdown, Teresa Watts of Rosston, Gwen Woods of Nashville, Verdia Cole and Willie Mae Hopson of Prescott; five grandchildren, Dre, Ques, Keon, A.J. and Sierra, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
