Evelyn Duncan
Evelyn Duncan, 84, of Arkadelphia died June 6, 2003, in Arkadelphia.
She was a homemaker. She was born February 8, 1919. She was born in McClelland.
She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Arkadelphia. She was the son of Henry J. and Valaria Wright Kirby.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Otis Duncan, one brother, and three sisters.
Survivors include: two daughters, Elsie F. Reyenga of Emmet, and Lessie M. Elkins of Arkadelphia; nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Services were Monday, June 9, 2003 at 10 a.m. in the Herndon Funeral Home Chapel with Revs. Freeling Clowers and Marvin Pate officiating. Interment followed in Memory Gardens cemetery.
Visitation was 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Herndon Funeral Home.
Services were under the direction of Herndon Funeral Home, Inc. in Hope.

Brice Stewart
Mr. Brice H. Stewart, 91, of Prescott, died Monday, June 9, 2003, at Medical Park Hospital in Hope.
He was born July 2, 1911, in Laneburg, (Nevada County), to Lewis and Ella Waddle Stewart.
He was a former co-owner/operator of both Stewart Furniture Co. and Stewart Butane Co. He was a member and deacon of First Presbyterian Church of Prescott. He was an Army Veteran of World War II. He was a former member of Kiwanis and Chairman of Nevada County Republican Committee.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Kelso, Clint, Cliff, and Brad Stewart (his twin); and one sister, Katie Cross.
He is survived by: his wife of 61 years, Della Duke Stewart of Prescott; one brother, Dick Stewart of Prescott; and several nephews and nieces.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Thursday, June 12, 2003, Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home Chapel, Prescott, with Rev. Les Patterson officiating. Burial was in Mt. Moriah cemetery, Nevada County, Rosston. Arrangements by Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott.
Family received friends Wednesday, June 11, 2003, from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home in Prescott.

Syble Taylor
Mrs. Syble Mitchell Taylor, 82, of Blevins, died Thursday, June 12, 2003, at her home.
She was born July 16, 1920, in Blevins to B.W. and Ethel White Mitchell.
She was a homemaker and mother. She was a member of the Bruce Memorial United Methodist Church in Blevins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John T. Taylor, who died in 1992.
Her survivors include three sons, Robert M. "Bobby" Taylor and Jackie of Blevins, John "Johnny" Taylor and Sherry of Iowa, La., and Thomas "Tommy" Taylor and Jane of Benton. La.; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were 11 a.m., Saturday, June 14, 2003, at Bruce Memorial United Methodist Church in Blevins, with Dr. Tandy Hanson and Rev. J.R. Callicott officiating. Burial was in Marlbrook cemetery in Blevins. Arrangements by Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott.
Family received friends Friday, June 13, 2003, from 6-8 p.m. at the Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home.

Lena Ulmer
Lena Mae Ulmer, 77, of Cabot, died Sunday.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Dora Burke, and husband, Herman Ulmer.
She is survived by two brothers, Joe and Virgil Burke of Prescott; three sisters, Elsie Smith, Julia Polston and Bessie Moorehead.
Funeral services were at Cabot Funeral Home Chapel Wednesday, June 25, at 1 p.m., with Ricky Burke officiating. Interment was at Arkansas State Veteran's cemetery. Arrangements by Cabot Funeral Home.

Luther Harris
Luther B. Harris, 89, of Oakland, Calif., died Monday, June 16, 2003, in a hospital in California.
Luther was born November 21, 1913, in Prescott to the parentage of the late Daniel Harris and Elizabeth Jackson Harris.
He was a member of St. John Baptist Church in Richmond, Calif. Luther was a retired foreman for California State Highway Department.
Left to cherish his memories: his wife, Amanda Kirby Harris of Oakland.; three sons, Robert Harris, Daniel Harris and Earl Harris all of Oakland; three daughters, Dorothy Cook and Doris Washington both of San Francisco, Calif.; and Eloise Steward of Sacramento, Calif.; 16 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 25, 2003, at 11 a.m. at Sweet Home Baptist Church in Prescott, with Rev. Robert Hood, pastor, officiating.
Burial was in Sweet Home cemetery in Prescott with Brandon's Mortuary of Hope in charge of arrangements.

Lealon Campbell
Lealon "Lela" Campbell, 93, of Hope (formerly of Emmet), died Wednesday, June 25, 2003, at Medical Park Hospital in Hope.
She was born January 15, 1910, in Nevada County, to J.H. "Adam" and Doshie Lough Pratt.
She was a homemaker and dietary aid at Prescott Manor Nursing Home for more than 12 years. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Campbell, by two brothers and one sister.
Her survivors include: one son, J.E. Campbell and Joyce of Bryant; one daughter, Mildred Thrasher of Hope; one brother, Leroy Pratt of Mexia, Texas; six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Friday, June 27, 2003, at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home Chapel in Prescott, with Rev. Glen Cannon and Rev. Kenneth Grant officiating. Burial followed in Harmony cemetery in Sutton. Arrangements by Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott.
Family received friends Thursday, June 26, 2003, from 6-8 p.m. at the Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home.

Geneva Walthall
Geneva Irvin Walthall, 89, of Camden, died Saturday int the Ouachita Medical Center in Camden.
Mrs. Walthall was born January 29, 1914, in Bluff City, the daughter of William and Minnie Riddling Irvin.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Camden, a Licensed Practical Nurse, a long standing member and officer of the LPN association, and considered her family, gardening, and fishing her loves.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie F. Walthall, three brothers, Hollie, Gordon, and Hartwell "Red" Irvin; and two sisters, Opal Delaney and Nellie Robinson.
Survivors are a son and daughter-in-law, Durwin and Maureen Reilly Ursery of Camden; two grandchildren, Shivaun Sweet of Chicago, Ill., and Meredith Ursery of Dallas, Texas; two great-grandchildren, Austin and Alicoe Sweet both of Chicago; and a sister, Arona Kirk of Camden.
Funeral services were 10 a.m. Tuesday at Proctor Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Bluff City.
Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Proctor Funeral Home of Camden in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, family request memorials be made to the First Methodist Church of Camden, 121 Harrison St., Camden, Ark. 71701.

Edgar Johnson
Mr. Edgar Wayne Johnson, 58, of Hope, formerly of Prescott, died Friday, June 27, 2003, at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Hot Springs, after a lengthy illness.
He was born January 27, 1945, in Nevada County, to Lee and Alice Gill Johnson.
He was a truck driver, construction worker, heavy equipment operator and former wrecker driver for Ed Roberts Wrecker Service. He was a volunteer fireman and a member of the Army National Guard.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by two brothers, Robert and Sammy Johnson.
His survivors include: his son, Jeffrey Wayne Johnson of Hot Springs; his daughter, Sherry Darlene Johnson Barlow and Robert William Barlow of Searcy; his brother, Johnny Lee Johnson of Hope; his grandchildren, Jennifer Nicole Barlow and Trisha Breighann Barlow.
Graveside services were 2 p.m., Sunday, June 29, 2003, at Piney Grove cemetery, Boughton Community, Nevada County, with Rev. S. Joseph Geno officiating. Burial followed. Arrangements by Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home in Hope.

Lucy Calhoun
Lucy Mae Stokes Calhoun, 87, of Little Rock, passed away Friday, June 27, 2003, at the Regional Nursing Center of Bryant.
Lucy was born September 25, 1916, in Bluff Springs, to Joshua Sydney and Althea Erwin Stokes.
She attended and graduated from Laneburg High School. Her early life included singing with her twin sister at church services. After graduation she married Joseph Tillman Calhoun and was a housekeeper for the remainder of her life. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church and an avid student of the Bible. Her love for God, her church, her family and friends was foremost in everything she did.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, J.T. Calhoun; three brothers, Paris Stokes, Grady Stokes and Fred Stokes of Prescott; three sisters, Era Shormley and Verna Calhoun of Prescott, a twin sister, Mary Lou May of McGehee; and one grandson, Joseph Lee Calhoun of Little Rock.
Survivors include three sons, Max (Rita) Calhoun and Don Calhoun of Bryant; and Nick (Beverly) Calhoun of Little Rock; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Also to mourn the loss is a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation was Sunday at 6 p.m. at Roller-Drummond Funeral Home, 10900 Interstate 30.
The funeral services were held 10 a.m., Monday, June 30, 2003, at Temple Baptist Church, 10710 I-30, with Rev. Martin Jameson and Rev. Richard Walters officiating. Burial was at 2 p.m. in Mt. Moriah cemetery in Rosston.
