Fred Kovalovsky
Mr. Fred A. Kovalovsky, 87, of Prescott, died Friday, July 4, 2003, at his home.
He was born May 30, 1916, in Ford City, Penn. to Philip (Felip) and Kristina Marie Blahovic Kovalovsky.
He was a retired tool and dye hardener with 35½ years for International Harvester in Chicago. He was a member of the United Auto Workers Union Region 4-Local 1301.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth R. Kovalovsky, who died in 1989 and by one granddaughter, Ruthann Hazel Tippitt.
Survivors include: two sons, Kevin Kovalovsky of Algonquin, Ill. and Philip Kovalovsky of Spring Grove, Ill.; one daughter, Kris Tippitt of Prescott; one brother, Benjamin Robert Kovalovsky and Gertie of Ford City, Penn.; one sister, Wilhelmina (Billie) Kovalovsky Kalnik of Ford City, Penn.; six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were 7 p.m., Wednesday, July 9, 2003, at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott with Rev. Robin Nygaard officiating. Burial followed Friday, July 11, 2003, in Beverly cemetery in Blue Island, Ill. Arrangements by Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott.
Family received friends Wednesday, July 9, 2003 from 5 p.m. until service time at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home.

Betty Manning
Mrs. Betty George Sampson Manning, 78, of Prescott, died Saturday, October 22, 2005, at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock.
She was born on July 15, 1927, in Nevada County to Pearson George and Oma Gertrude Barker Sampson. She was a homemaker, mother and former bank teller in Houston, Texas, having worked in several banking institutions in her earlier years. She was a member of Harmony United Methodist Church in Sutton.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Carolyn Franklin 'Bobby' Sampson.
Survivors include: her husband of 62 years, Arthur D. 'Buddy' Manning of Prescott; one son, Arthur D. 'Sonny' Manning, Jr. and Karen of San Antonio, Texas; one daughter, Peggy Mazoch and Kerry of Houston, Texas; two brothers, Garland A. 'Bud' Sampson of Sherwood and James Arthur 'Jimmy' Sampson of Prescott; three grandchildren, Melissa Manning of San Antonio, Don Gay, Jr. and wife Kimberly, of San Marcos, Texas, and Shane Gay and wife Kate of Houston; and two great-grandchildren Eli Gay and Caleb Gay of San Marcos.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 25, 2005, at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home Chapel of Prescott, with Rev. Jerry G. Westmoreland officiating. Burial followed in Laneburg cemetery in Laneburg. Arrangements by Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott.
Family received friends Monday, October 24, 2005, from 6-8 p.m. at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott.

Irene Tolleson
Irene Dickerson Tolleson, 83, of West Memphis died Wednesday, Oct 19, 2005, in the Crittenden Memorial Hospital in West Memphis.
She was born Feb. 20, 1922, in Nevada County, the seventh child of Edd and Annie Black Dickerson. She retired from the West Memphis Utility Commission as a night security guard. She was a member of the Ingram Blvd. Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J. C. Tolleson, one son, James Dickie Tolleson, four sisters, Jewelle Edwards, Ruby Allen, Elsie Smith and Lois Webb, three brothers, Ellis, Buck and Herbert Dickerson.
Survivors include one daughter, Jimmie Carr and her husband Roy of Arlington, Texas; one sister, Jo Parker of West Memphis, grandchildren, Amy Carr and her husband, Bill Helsley, Jeremy Tolleson and his wife, Laura and Kevin Carr; great-grandchildren, Stevie Stroik and Aidan Carr.
Graveside services were 11 a.m. Saturday, October 22, 2005, in Rose Hill cemetery in Arkadelphia, with Pastor Clayton Adams officiating. Interment was under the direction of Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home.
Visitation was from 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Johnnie Walraven
Eld. Johnnie E. Walraven, 80, a retired Baptist minister passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2003, at his home in Willisville after a lengthy illness.
He was born November 21, 1922, in Fouke, to Johnny and Louise Hemperly Walraven.
He was a World War II Army veteran serving from November 1938 to July 1945, serving three years in the Horse Calvary and the other four years in the 361st Regiment, 91st Infantry in Italy. He was awarded two Bronze Stars, a Silver Star, three Oak Leaf Clusters for the Campaigns, Combat infantry Badge, six Expert Metals, and the Purple Heart.
Before retiring he pastored New Liberty, Forest Hill, Pleasant Hill, Pleasant Springs, and Mt. Olive Baptist Churches.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his second father, Robert Young; three brothers, J.C. Walraven, Guy Walraven, and Winfred Young; a sister, Louise Cooper, and his beloved wife, Vurle Mason Walraven.
He was a member of White's Chapel Baptist Church.
Cherishing his memory are his daughter, Marva Nell Baldwin; his granddaughter and husband, Michelle and Chris Smith; two great-grandsons, Dakota Spencer Smith and Kaleb Wayne Smith, all of Willisville; his brother and sister-in-law, Gerald and Betty Young of Sealy, Texas; his sister-in-law, Bobbie Jean Walraven of Dubberly, La.; a brother-in-law, Paul Cooper of Arkadelphia and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Graveside services were Friday, June 27, 2003, at Willisville cemetery with Bro. Jerry Evans officiating.
Pallbearers were Roy Dale Elliott, Tommy Ray Waters, Jimmy Joe Goodwin, Bobby Walthall, David Beard, and James Pennington. Arrangements were under the direction of Smith Funeral Home in Stamps.
Family received visitors Thursday, June 26, 2003, at the funeral home.

Bill Lambert
Mr. M.L. 'Bill' Lambert, 86, of Alma, formerly of Prescott, died Tuesday, October 18, 2005, at his home.
He was born on January 29, 1917, in Roveline, La., to P.R. and Neva Jenkins Lambert. He was a retired maintenance man with White Oak State Park.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Freda Elma Lambert, who died March 1, 1996, and by one son, Emmett Lambert.
His survivors include: one son, Charles Lambert and Vicki of Alma; two daughters, Mary French and Carl and Pam, Greer and Bob all of Hensley; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were at 10 a.m. Friday, October 21, 2005, at the Bluff City cemetery in Bluff City with Rev. Bob Shelton officiating. Burial followed.
Pallbearers were Pete DeWoody, John DeWoody, Randy Koger, Stan Speight, R.D. Branch and Bobby Morton. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Ron Schlabach and Paul Winborn.
Arrangements by Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott.
Family received friends Thursday, October 20, 2005, from 6-8 p.m. at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott.

Hazel Meeks
Mrs. Hazel Virginia "Lulu" Griffin Meeks, 81, of Prescott, died Saturday, July 12, 2003, at her home.
She was born July 1, 1922 in Prescott to Jesse Jiner and Larue Myrtle Taylor Griffin.
She was employed with the former Gibsons of Prescott and currently a correspondent for the Redland News in the Nevada County Picayune. She was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church of Prescott and pianist for the Burke Quartet of Prescott.
She was preceded in death by her son, Larry Meeks who died in 1992.
her survivors include: her husband, Neil Meeks of Prescott; three grandchildren, Chris Meeks of Dallas, Texas; Charity Lowdermilk of Prescott and Casey Meeks of Brandon, Miss.; and two great-grandchildren, Caleb and Jordan Lowdermilk.
Funeral services were 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 15, 2003, at Shady Grove Baptist Church in Prescott with Rev. Larry Buyers, Rev. Mike Taylor and Dr. Cecil Sutley officiating. Burial followed in Liberty cemetery in Prescott. Arrangements by Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott.
Family received friends Monday, July 14, 2003, from 6-8 p.m. at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home.

Sanford Hooker
Mr. Sanford L. Hooker, Sr., 80, of De Queen, died Monday, October 17, 2005 in the De Queen Medical Center in De Queen.
He was born to Thomas Julian and Ida Wilson Hooker, on September 15, 1925, at Amity. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with U.S. Army First Cavalry. He was a heavy equipment operator, as well as a cattle and poultry rancher. He was a member of the Memorial Missionary Baptist Church, and the Sweet Home Masonic Lodge, where he served as Past Master. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, and visiting with friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Jean Blevins.
He is survived by his wife of more than 57 years, Juanita Horne Hooker of De Queen; one son and daughter-in-law, Sanford 'Sandy', Jr. and Susan Hooker, of Wellston, Okla.; one daughter and son-in-law, Anita and John Gaunt of Dansville, Mich.; one brother, Wilson Hooker of Pecos, Texas; one sister, Ima Kelly of Hope; one brother-in-law, Jerry and Pat Horne of Texarkana, Ark.; two sisters-in-law, Barbara and Jim Erskine of Bentonville and Judy McDowell of Fayetteville; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four step-great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, October 20, 2005, in the Mt. Ida cemetery, with Rev. Joe Carlton officiating, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home of De Queen. The family received friends at Chandler Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, October 19, 2005.

Ronald Hunter
Ronald E. Hunter, 51, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2005, at his home in Mayflower.
He was born January 9, 1954, in Prescott to Bud and Edith Hunter. He was employed as a salesman for Southern Hardware Company, a member of ABATE 17, and was an avid hunter, fisherman, and motorcyclist.
He was preceded in death by his father, Rubin E. (Bud) Hunter.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Cureton Hunter of the home; his daughter, Abigail Hunter of Rome, Ga.; his mother, Edith Hunter of Prescott; one brother, Ricky Hunter of Texarkana, Ark.; two sisters, Michelle Hartman of Prescott and Kathy Bobo of Sheridan; four nieces; two nephews, and numerous other relatives and friends.
A memorial service was held Saturday, October 15, at 10 a.m. at Roller McNutt Funeral Home in Greenbriar.

Dean Atkins
Mr. Dean Atkins, Sr., 78, resident of De Queen, died Thursday, July 17, 2003, in the De Queen Regional Medical Center in De Queen.
He was born to Jessie Parrish and Mary Mossillia Best Atkins, at Willisville, on January 17, 1925.
He was a charter member of the Old Time Missionary Baptist Church of De Queen. He was a veteran of WW II, having served in the U.S. Army Air Corps, former Assistant Yell County Agent, at Danville, and was retired from SWEPCO, with 30 years service, as well as a farmer. He was past president of De Queen Rotary Club, a member of the Chamber of Commerce, had served on the County School Board, and on Soil Conservation Board.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Mattie Jean Atkins, and a daughter, Chylene Atkins.
He is survived by his wife, Jo Flowers Atkins of De Queen; three sons and daughters-in-law, Mike Atkins and Patti; Chuck and Karen Atkins; and J.P. and Lisa Atkins, all of De Queen; nine grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services for Mr. Dean Atkins were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 17, 2003, in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Lane Garner, Bro. Elmer Grant, and Bro. Mike Durham officiating. Burial followed in Redmen cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home of De Queen. The family was at the Atkins home, located 1406 North 7th, De Queen.
