Shirley Rogers
Mrs. Shirley Ann Rogers, 67, of Prescott, died Friday, July 18, 2003, at her home.
She was born April 21, 1936, in Camden, to Ottis and Mildred Frizzell Harper.
She was a retired credit department clerk from Sanger/Harris Department Store in Dallas. She was a Baptist.
She was preceded in death by her son, Bobby Bearden.
Her survivors include: one daughter, Marjorie "Lynn" Reed of Wylie, Texas; one sister, Judy Gray of Camden; three grandchildren, Jennifer Kuhn of Gurdon and Jackie Buck and Alisha Buck Helt both of Wylie, Texas; and two great-grandchildren, Madison Helt and Alexandra Buck.
Graveside services were 3 p.m. Monday, July 21, 2003, at Camden Memorial Park cemetery in Camden with Rev. Ricky Burke officiating. Burial followed. Arrangements by Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott.
Family received friends Sunday, July 20, 2003, from 5-7 p.m. at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home.

L.D. Garner
Mr. L.D. 'Shorty' Garner, 80, of Prescott, died Wednesday, July 6, 2005, in Rogers.
He was born on June 26, 1925, in Prescott, to Alvin Leroy and Nioma Orren Garner. He was an engineer with Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. having retired after 37 years. He was a Baptist and a U.S. Marine Corp Veteran of WWII.
His survivors include his wife of 47 years, Dorothy Stainton Garner of Prescott; three sons, Lyndal D. 'Lynn' Garner, Jr. of Houston, Texas, Brent S. Garner of Bentonville, and Steve G. Garner of Wynne; three brothers, William H. 'Huey' Garner of Prescott, Jerry D. Garner of Malvern and Mike R. Garner of North Little Rock; five grandchildren and two great-grandsons.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Sunday, July 10, 2005, at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home Chapel in Prescott, with Rev. Jerry G. Westmoreland officiating. Burial followed in DeAnn cemetery in Prescott. Arrangements by Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott.
Family received friends Saturday, July 9, 2005, from 6-8 p.m. at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott.
Memorials can be made to Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, Gift Processing Center, P.O. Box 96268 Washington, D.C. 20090-6298 or American Cancer Society.

Raymond Hopson
Raymond Reese Hopson, 78, of Prescott, passed away Saturday, July 19, 2003.
He was born Feb. 4, 1924, at Mounds, Texas. He was the son of Jack and Lena (Parks) Hopson.
He had worked as serviceman for Eastman Kodak in Dallas, Texas. He was veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in WWII. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Prescott.
Survivors include: his wife, Opal Langston Hopson of Prescott; one son, Dr. R. Duane Hopson of Anchorage, AK; one daughter, Donna and Fletcher McKelvy of Prescott; one stepson, John and Sara Langston of N. Little Rock; one stepdaughter, Belva Smith of Emmet; one sister, Lois Clawson of Temple, Texas; two grandchildren, Renee M. Williams of Miami, Fla. and Damon and Abby McKelvy of Little Rock; two step grandchildren, Hope Wright and John Paul Langston both of N. Little Rock; one great-grandchild, Madeline Rose McKelvy and one step great-grandchild, Ryan McCall; and one step great-great-grandchild Ryan Langston.
Services were Tuesday, July 22, 2003, at 10 a.m. at the Shackleford Funeral Home Chapel in Prescott. Rev. Kevin Smead officiated the service. Burial was at Morris cemetery in Caney under the direction of Shackleford Funeral Home.

Barbara Smelser
Barbara Jean Smelser, of Prescott, passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2003.
She was born on May 21, 1946, in Eudora. She was the daughter of James Hubbard and Vera Lucille (White) Evans.
She worked as a Receiving Clerk for Firestone Building Products and was a member of the Bluff City Baptist Church.
Her survivors include: one son, Johnny Smelser of Waldo; two sisters, Betty Fincher and Sue Bustion, both of Waldo; and a companion, David Poechhacker of Prescott.
Funeral services are Saturday, August 2, 2003, at 10 a.m. at the Shackleford Funeral Home Chapel in Prescott with Bro. Don Coon officiating. Burial was at Shiloh cemetery in Lambertine under the direction of Shackleford Funeral Home.

Michael Charles
Mr. Micahel Lindsey Charles, 34, born October 2, 1968, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Lindsey Earl and Ruth Ella Charles, died Monday, July 14, 2003 in Fordyce from a motorcycle accident.
During his youthful days he faithfully worshiped with the Sweet Home Baptist Church family under the guidance of Rev. J.P. Story, and attended the Prescott Public Schools. He married Maria LaFonda Williams on December 23, 1997.
His father, Lindsey Earl Charles, his maternal grandparents, Jacob and Mazie Dansby, and paternal grandparents, Eddie Charles and Maybell Fudge, and brother, Gregory Charles preceded him in death.
His survivors include: his wife, Maria; daughter, Kelsey Renee Charles; three step-children, O'Brien Domineck, Eric and Deshawnna Martin; seven sisters, Lisa (Rick) Woodberry, Tracy (Edward) Jackson, Carlen Charles, and Shameka Charles all of Prescott, Charlotte (Donnell) Watts of Rosston, Melissa Lacy of Emmet, and Maybell Charles of Ozan; one brother, Lindsey McCoy Patterson of Hope; six uncles, 10 aunts, 14 nieces, five nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Thank God for looking beyond our faults and seeing our needs in funeral service funding for our beloved Michael Lindsey Charles. Because of the generous donations from the Ward Chapel C.M.E., Corthan Chapel A.M.E., Faith Temple C.O.G.I.C., Macedonia Boughton, Mt. Zion, Mt. Cana, Munn's Chapel, and Union Grove Baptist Churches, Rev. William and Sis. Mary Colbert, Bedie and Josephine Henderson, Henry and Shelia Butler, our beloved one's funeral service was held at the Sweet Home Baptist Church, Rev. Charles Young, pastor, with Rev. Curtis Dansby, officiating and was finally laid to rest in the Nevada County Sweet Home Community cemetery Saturday, July 26, 2003. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Henderson's Mortuary Inc. of Magnolia.
We, the family of the late Michael Lindsey Charles, acknowledge that during our trying times, these past days, the truth of friends have been a great sustaining element. Your prayers and your cordial words encouraged our grief stricken hearts. Because of your sharing, caring and kindness by the Holy Spirit, our heavy burden seems so much lighter now. May God bless you all.

Minnie Moore
Mrs. Minnie M. Moore, 87, of Prescott (formerly of Camden), died Saturday, August 2, 2003, at Medical Park Hospital in Hope.
She was born December 20, 1915, in Nevada County to Daniel and Gertrude Tunnel Meador.
She was a retired seamstress and homemaker. She was a member of Hillside Baptist Church in Camden and president of the Residents Council at Hillcrest Care and Rehab in Prescott.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Willie Moore; one grandson, Lee Harvey Taylor; one brother and three sisters.
Her survivors include: one son, James Bernard Sarrett of Camden; three daughters, Jeanette Beaver of Camden, Wava Fitzhugh and Faye Taylor both of Prescott; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Monday, August 4, 2003, at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home Chapel in Prescott, with Rev. Mike Taylor officiating. Burial followed in Bluff City cemetery in Bluff City. Arrangements by Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott.
Family received friends Sunday, August 3, 2003 from 3-6 p.m. at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Arthritis Foundation, 6213 Lee Ave., Little Rock, Ark. 72200.

William McNatt
William McNatt, 67, of Maud, Tex., died Monday, August 18, 2003 at St. Michael Health Center in Texarkana, Tex.
He was born June 4, 1936, in Lewisville.
Mr. McNatt was a Owner of Quality Motors in Texarkana, member of The Rock Creek Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by a son, William Allen McNatt, Jr.; one sister, Mary Jenkins Rogers and by his parents, Walker and Gladine McNatt.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Fore McNatt of Maud; one daughter, Kim Braley of Maud; two grandchildren, Mistie Jones and Cassi Braley both of Maud; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, August 21, 2003, at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Stamps, with the Rev. George Otwell officiating with burial in Rosston cemetery at Rosston, under the direction of Smith Funeral Home in Stamps.

Robert Shipp
Mr. Robert H. Shipp, 74, of Prescott, died Monday, August 25, 2003, in John McClellan V.A. Hospital in Little Rock.
He was born August 11, 1929, in Nevada County, to Wylie and Allie Purtle Shipp.
He was a retired farmer. He was a member of Central Baptist Church in Prescott.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Louise McCorkle Shipp; by two brothers, Melvin and Gurvis; by three sisters; Thalia, Margie and Norvell; and by one grandson, Bart Hill, III.
His survivors include: Judy Ardwin and Ray of Gillham and Joan King and Ben of Newport; two brothers, Hollis Shipp and Helen of Hope and D.P. Shipp and Helen of Memphis Tenn.; five grandchildren, Corey and Casey Hill both of Gillham, Stacey Hill of Blevins; Jason Ardwin of Pale City, Alabama and Tammy Bishop of Kentucky; and one great-granddaughter, Allison Ardwin of Wickes.
Funeral services were 2 p.m., Friday, August 29, 2003, at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home Chapel in Prescott, with Rev. Donnie Dillard officiating. Burial followed in Bluff Springs cemetery in Nevada County. Arrangements by Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott.
Family received friends Thursday, August 28, 2003, from 6-8 p.m. at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home.

Margaret Buchanan
Mrs. Margaret L. "Peggy" Buchanan, 85, of Prescott, died Wednesday, August 27, 2003, at Hillcrest Care and Rehab of Prescott.
She was born June 7, 1918, in Prescott, to William H. and Annie M. Freeman Barnard.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Prescott.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Buchanan, who died in 1991; by two brothers, William and Richard Barnard; and by two sisters, Frances Nation and Evelyn Kaski.
Her survivors include: three daughters, Betty Jane Reynolds of Hot Springs, Elizabeth L. Butler of Pangburn and Nichole Hall of Prescott; two sisters, Ruth Howard of Prescott and Grace Danielson of Dover; three grandchildren, Major Angelia Holbrook and her husband, Capt. Herbert Holbrook of Colorado Springs, Colo., Michael Coffman of Chicago, IL, and Becky Coffman of Ft. Worth, Tex.; and three great-grandchildren, Adam Holbrook, Shelby Hall, and Emma Hall.
Funeral services were 11 a.m., Saturday, August 30, 2003, Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home Chapel, Prescott with Mr. Howard Horton officiating. Burial followed in Pleasant Hill cemetery in Prescott. Arrangements by Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott.
Family received friends, Friday, August 29, 2003, from 6-8- p.m. at the Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home.
Special thanks to the doctor, nurses, and staff at Hillcrest Care and Rehab in Prescott for all they did for mother.
