Enda Fluke
Edna Lambert Fluke, 90, a native of Nevada County, died Wednesday, Sep. 3, 2003, in Texas.
Her graveside service was at 3 p.m. Saturday, September 6, at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home in Colleyville, Texas.
She was born Oct. 8, 1912, in Sutton, to the Rev. Albert and Loretta Hitt Lambert.
She was a 1921 graduate of Laneburg School, where she played on the girls' basketball team. During her long life she lived in many parts of Arkansas, in addition to Detroit and San Francisco, before spending her last 50 years in Texas. During World War II she was an electrical parts assembler at the Ford Motor Co. Willow Run Bomber Plant in Dearborn, MI. She also sold and modeled clothing in Detroit and Fort Worth.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers and two sisters; and by George Fluke, her husband of 50 years.
She is survived by her son Ricky of Fort Worth, Texas, and many nieces and nephews, including Mark Lambert of Sutton, Lana Carlton and Joe Lambert of Rosston, Tony Lambert of Prescott, Janice Faulkner of Emmet, and Carol, Greg, Jenny Lou, Larry, Shirley, and William of Arkansas, Texas, and Louisiana.
She was always kind to animals, and is especially missed by Wally, her American Eskimo Dog.

Hollis Carman
Hollis H. Carman, 80, of Haskell, died Wednesday, August 27, at his home.
He was born February 6, 1923, in Blevins, to the late William Samual and Nora Ollie Head Carman.
Mr. Carman was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII where he had served in the European Theater of Operations, and was the recipient of four bronze stars. Mr. Carman was an avid gardener and he was a strong Christian and a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, and retired after 35 years as an LPTN at Benton Services Center.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, James Hollis Carman; three brothers, Sylvester, Lawrence and William "Mutt" Carman; three sisters, Viola Griffin, Martell Fowler, and Dorothy Osborne.
His is survived by his wife, Minnie Bryson Carman of Haskell; son, Roy H. Carman and Lee of Haskell; granddaughters, Elizabeth Lee of Haskell and Amber Carman of Pigeon Forge, Tenn.; brother-in-law and his wife, Wayland and Sue Bryson of Benton, ans sister-in-laws, Betty and Irving Gray of Arlington, Tex. and Gertrude Carman of Malvern.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Saturday, August 30, 2003, at First Church of the Nazarene with Dave Carlson and Bro. Carl Wright officiating. Roller-Ballard Funeral Home (315-4047) was in charge of arrangements. Interment followed in Mt. Harmony cemetery in Haskell with military honors provided by the Thaddeus H. Carraway VFW Post # 2278.
Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. Friday, August 29, 2003, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to First Church of the Nazarene, the American Cancer Society, or Arkansas Children's Hospital.
Ricky Clark
Ricky Nolen Clark, 49, of Washington and Hope, died Saturday, August 30, 2003, as a result of an automobile accident.
He was born on August 12, 1954, in Hope, to Nolen Travis and Lovenia Crider Clark.
He was co-owner of Diamond State Mobile Homes and C&C; Transport of Hope. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Prescott.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
His survivors include: one son, Jacob Clark of DeAnn; one brother, David Clark of Emmet; and two nieces, Shelly Stephens of Emmet and Kim Easterling of Hope.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Monday, September 1, 2003, at Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home Chapel in Hope, with Rev. Kevin Smead officiating. Burial was in White Oak Grove cemetery at DeAnn. Arrangements by Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home in Hope.
Family received friends Sunday, August 31, 2003, from 2-6 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ohel Daniell
Mrs. Ohel Naomi Rhodes Daniell, 93, of Prescott, died Monday, September 1, 2003, in Hillcrest Care and Rehab in Prescott.
She was born Novmeber 7, 1909, in Nevada County, to Captain Hillard and Janie Mildred Bryson Rhodes.
She was a homemaker and devoted wife and mother. She was a member of the Nazarene Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Daniell, who died in 1996; one son, Hillard Daniell; two son-in-laws, Joe B. Hinson and George T. Garrett; and two brothers, Roy L. Rhodes and Adrian Talmadge.
Her survivors include: three daughters, Lauvenia Hinson of Little Rock, Myra Peachey and Ernest and Joyce Martin and Bobby all of Prescott; one brother, Coy C. Rhodes of Shreveport; one sister, Ollie Matson of Shreveport; 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were 4 p.m. Tuesday, September 2, 2003, at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home Chapel in Prescott with Rev. Raymond Hicks officiating. Burial followed in Friendship cemetery in Cale. Arrangements by Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott.
Family received friends Tuesday, September 2, 2003, beginning at 2 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Elsie Moench
Mrs. Elsie Faye Moench, 95, of Bodcaw (formerly of Hope and Michigan), died Saturday, August 30, 2003, at her home.
She was born September 14, 1907, in Jenoa, Nebraska, to John David and Jenny Strum Ceder.
She was a homemaker and former cafeteria cook for Beecher High School in Flint, Michigan for 25 plus years. She was a member of Hope Church of the Nazarene.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry August Moench, who died in 1971, and by two daughters, Aletha Gilbert and Dephene Dowdy.
Her survivors include: two sons, Donald Moench of Texarkana, Tex. and James Moench of Millington Mich.; one daughter, Norma Jean Palmer of Bodcaw; 19 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 3, 2003, at Sharps Funeral Home, Miller Road Chapel, Swartz Creek, Michigan, with Rev. Paul Alger officiating. Burial followed in Flint Memorial Park cemetery, Mt. Morris, Michigan. Arrangements by Sharps Funeral Home, Swartz Creek, Michigan and local arrangements by Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home in Hope.

Beulah Mathis
Mrs. Beulah Ross Mathis, 92, of Prescott, died Tuesday, September 1, 2003, at Medical Park Hospital in Hope.
She was born July 14, 1911, in Pike Co., to Abner H. and Rosetta Frasher.
She had returned to school after the death of her first husband of 27 years, Gilbert Eugene Ross, and earned her nursing degree. She was a nurse for the Nevada County Hospital for 20 plus years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Prescott. She remarried
after retirement, Early Mathis, and they lived together for nearly eight years until he died in 1992.
She is preceded in death by one brother, M. Harper Frasher and one sister, Jewel Frasher Randell.
Her survivors include: one son, Dr. Gene Ross and Frances of Emmet; one grandson, U.S. Congressman Mike Ross and Holly; two grandchildren, Sydeny and Alex Ross both of Prescott, three nephews and one niece.
Funeral services were 2 p.m., Wednesday, September 3, 2003, at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home Chapel in Prescott, with Rev. Jerry G. Westmoreland and Rev. Jim Lenderman officiating. Burial followed in the Murfreesboro City cemetery in Murfreesboro. Arrangements by Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott.

Dorothy Brown
Dorothy Mae Brown, 61, died Friday, August 29, 2003, at the home of her daughter in Richmond Hill.
She was a native of Nevada County. She lived most of her life in Prescott. She was a CNA for Hillcrest Nursing Home and Heather Manor in Prescott. She was a Baptist.
Dorothy was preceded in death by a grandson, Christopher Gulley.
She is survived by her husband, Eddie Brown of Prescott; two daughter and a son-in-law, Marnita and Tommy Johnson of Richmond Hill and Angel Govan of Hinesville; sons, Terry Snowden and Jerry Snowden; step-son, Hollis White; brothers, Carl Lawson, James Lawson, Billy Lawson, Charles Lawson and Michael Lawson; sisters, Crystal Faye Lawson, Rose Dickerson and Mary McKillon.
Services were Saturday, September 6, 2003, at Munns Chapel Church in Prescott at 2 p.m.
Virginia Strickland
Virginia Strickland, 70, of Prescott, died Wednesday.
She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include: three sons, Vernon Strickland, Jim Strickland, and Benny Strickland all of Prescott; three daughters, Valerie Kolkind of LaCrosse, Wisconsin, Margie Ferguson of Gravette, and Rosie Westmoreland of Springdale; two step-daughters, Fay and Kay Strickland; 20 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Saturday at the Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in DeAnn cemetery by Shackelford Funeral Home in Prescott.
Ruth Kirk
Mrs. Ruth Kirk, 81, of Prescott, died Friday, September 5, 2003, at her home.
She was born January 23, 1922, in Nevada County to Dave and Annie Crouse Wicker.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Nazarene Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Garland Kirk.
Her survivors include: one son, Jimmy Don Kirk and Judy of Prescott; one daughter, Barbara Owens of Prescott; two sisters, Marzelle Kirk of Prescott and Vera Mae Revis of Benton; one granddaughter, Nacona Thomas and Buddy of Boni Fay, Fla.; three great-grandchildren, Sam, Tracy, and Cheyenne Thomas of Boni Fay; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were 2 p.m., Monday, September 8, 2003, at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home Chapel in Prescott, with Rev. Phillip Hull officiating. Burial followed in Ebenezer cemetery in Bluff City. Arrangements by Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott.
