Majorie Conway
Mrs. Marjorie Lenora Glass Conway, 64, of Hope, died Friday, October 10, 2003, at her home.
She was born December 29, 1938, in Nevada County to Clyde and Mamie Smart Glass.
She was a homemaker and baker. She was a member of Laneburg Baptist Church of Laneburg.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by two brothers and four sisters.
Her survivors include her husband, Claud Conway of Hope; two sons, Frankie Conway of Hope and Shane Conway of Texarkana, Tex.; one daughter, Becky Marcum of Rosston; two step-daughters, Janice Burns and Diane Klump both of Emory, Tex.; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Monday, October 13, 2003, at Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home Chapel in Hope, with Rev. Kenneth "Petie" Ward, Jr. officiating. Burial followed in Caney cemetery in Caney. Arrangements by Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home in Hope.

Linnell Alexander
Mrs. Linnell Meeks Alexander, 80 of Okolona, died Thursday, October 9, 2003, at St. Joseph's Medical Center, Hot Springs.
She was born May 12, 1923, in Clark Co. to L.J. and Hettie Thomas Meeks.
She was a homemaker and she was a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church of Okolona.
Her survivors include: her husband, Curtis Alexander of Okolona; one son, Larry Alexander of Little Rock; and three daughters, Carolyn Alexander of Okolona, Alice Alexander of North Little Rock and Doris Hale of Beaumont, Tex.
Funeral services were 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 14, 2003, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Okolona with Rev. Rufus Hatley and Rev. Alvin Hunter officiating. Burial followed in the Harrison Chapel cemetery in Delight. Arrangements by Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott.
A wake was held Monday, October 13, 2003, from 6-8 p.m. at the Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home.
Jo Beaver
Jo Nell Beaver, 69, of Chidester, died Friday in the Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock.
Mrs. Beaver was born April 1, 1934, in Emmet, the daughter of Charlie and Thelma Dougan Wheelington, who preceded her in death.
She was a homemaker, a librarian, and a member of the Bluff City Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Perry Joe Beaver of Chidester, her daughter, Kathy Anderson and husband, Bill of Coppell, Tex.; her sons, Lance Beaver and wife, Lisa of Prescott and Randy Beaver and wife, Debbie of Spring Hill; her brother, Marshall "Bear" Wheelington of Jonesville, Ken.; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Sunday at Proctor Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Chidester cemetery.
Proctor Funeral Home of Camden is in charge of arrangements.
Brenda Banks
Mrs. Brenda Lee Carlton Banks, 63, of Hope, died Tuesday, October 21, 2003, in Wadley Regional Medical Center in Texarkana.
She was born October 9, 1940, in Hempstead County to John Henry and Pearl Clements Carlton.
She was a greeter at Wal-Mart in Hope. She was a member, piano player, clerk, and Sunday School teacher of Union Baptist Church in Bodcaw.
Her survivors include: her husband, Wayne Banks of Hope; three sons, Larry Banks of Hope, Timmy Banks of Emmet, and Johnny Banks of Hope; her parents, John Henry and Pearl Carlton of Bodcaw; three brothers, John R. "Dickie" Carlton of Bodcaw, Larry Carlton and Randy Carlton both of Bodcaw; two sisters, Joy Chandler of Nashville and Jamie Whatley of Bodcaw; four grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Friday, October 24, 2003, at Union Baptist Church in Bodcaw with Rev. Joe Brown and Rev. Buddy McKamie officiating. Burial followed in Union cemetery in Bodcaw. Arrangements by Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home in Hope.

Elizabeth Buie
Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Buie, 75, of Prescott, died Saturday, October 25, 2003, at Medical Park Hospital in Hope.
She was born March 3, 1928, in Dallas, Texas, to James Carey and Laura Youngblood Henry.
She was a homemaker and was a member of Prescott Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and one sister.
Survivors include, her husband of 59 years, Lonnie Buie, Sr. of Prescott; one son, Lonnie Buie, Jr. and Vicki of Maumelle; one daughter, Vickie Barwick and Neil of Hope; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

George Sullivan, Sr.
Mr. George L. Sullivan, Sr., 81, of Prescott, died Saturday, October 25, 2003, at his home.
He was born October 5, 1922, in Hope, to Joseph Matthew and Olar Leonis Bumpers Sullivan.
He was a former employee of Potlatch. He was a Church of Christ and he attended the First Church of the Nazarene of Prescott. He was a member of C.C. Corp.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Pugh Sullivan, who died in 1986, one brother, J.M. Sullivan, and by three sisters, ruby Padgett, Lennie Smith, and Madge Curry.
His survivors include: two sons, George L. Sullivan, Jr. of Prescott, James Matthew "Jimmy" Sullivan and Trisha of Ashdown; three daughters, Mary "Jackie" Sullivan of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Carrie Lawrence and Charlie of Prescott and Susan Mulholland of Prescott; one granddaughter, Brandi Johnson of Prescott; nine grandsons; four step-grandsons, two step-granddaughters, and four great-grandchildren.

Lafayette Beaty, Jr.
Mr. Lafayette Beaty, Jr., 74, of Texarkana, Ark., formerly of Prescott, died Friday, October 24, 2003, at his home.
He was born June 23, 1929, in Nevada County, to Lafayette, Sr. and Eva Blevins Beaty.
He was a retired correctional officer from F.C.I. in Texarkana. He was a member of Beech Street Baptist Church in Texarkana. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict and former Sgt. First Class of 153rd Infantry of the Army National Guard.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Evelyn Jennings.
Survivors include his wife, Joann Beaty of Tyler, Texas; one daughter, Cindy Beaty of Tyler, Texas; one brother, Frank Beaty of Prescott and a number of nephews and nieces.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 29, 2003, at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home Chapel in Prescott with Rev. Bob Ward and Rev. Neal Ridling officiating. Mrs. Lorayne Maroon Lewing, 75, of Emmet, died Monday, October 20, 2003, at her home.
She was born March 16, 1928, in Nashville, to Christopher C. and Coralie Erwin Maroon.
She was an insurance and medical secretary. She was a member of Emmet First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband, Frank Lewing.
Her survivors include, two aunts, Faye Maroon and Maggie Maroon of Nashville; a number of cousins; other relatives and friends.
Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Friday, October 24, 2003, at Sardis cemetery in Hempstead County with Rev. Johnny Jackson officiating. Burial followed. Arrangements were under the direction of Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home in Hope.

Dale Brooks
Mr. Dale J. Brooks, 74, of Blevins, died Friday, October 24, 2003, at his home.
He was born August 9, 1929, in Hempstead County to Ira and Esther White Brooks.
He was a retired grader operator with Hempstead County to Ira and Esther White Brooks. He was a retired grader operator with Hempstead County for more than 33 years. He was a member of Bells Chapel Church of the Nazarene in Blevins.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Arlis Brooks and one sister, Mozelle Steed.
His survivors include his wife of 48 years, Ava Nell Stone Brooks of Blevins; one son, Keith Brooks of Blevins; one daughter, Kellie Carter and Mike of Blevins; one brother, Hollis Elvin Brooks of Houston, Texas; one sister, Chloe Hugg of Fort Smith; and two grandchildren, Lane Carter and Kaden Carter of Blevins.
