Rachel Hays
Mrs. Rachel Mullins Hays, 81, of Hope, died Thursday, January 15, 2004, at Christus St. Michael Health System, Texarkana, Texas.
She was born April 6, 1922, in Hempstead County to Roy B. and Martha Atkinson Franks.
She was a homemaker and mother. She was a member of the Unity Baptist Church of Hope and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary with Medical Park Hospital, Hope.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ruel Mullins.
Her survivors include: one son, Kenny Mullins and Judy of Hope; one daughter, Sue Mullins Cornelius and Jim of Prescott; her husband, Lee Hays of Hope; one brother, Patrick McLaughlin, Virginia Beach, VA.; two sisters, Jean Brents of Sherwood and Eva Jane Robertson of Midwest City, OKLA.; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Saturday, January 17, 2004, at Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home Chapel in Hope with Rev. Wade Hood and Rev. Glen Troop officiating. Burial followed in Memory Gardens cemetery in Hope. Arrangements by Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home in Hope.

Ida Fielding
Mrs. Ida Belle Fielding, 87, of Prescott, died Friday, January 16, 2004, in Hillcrest Care and Rehab Prescott.
She was born November 16, 1916, in Sevier County to Thomas Oden and Annie Baxley Cantrell.
She was a homemaker and a member of Park Missionary Baptist Church of Prescott.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Lee Fielding; one son, Lee Roy Fielding, and one grandson, Tony Terrell.
Her survivors include: five daughters, Betty Terrell of Prescott, Delores Wynn of Springhill, La., Joy Dougan and Penny, Teresa Brown and Gary, and Sherry Cross and Ronnie all of Prescott; one sister, Linnie Younker of Jacksonville, Tex.; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were 10 a.m. Saturday, January 17, 2004, at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home Chapel, Prescott, with Rev. Britt Dupree, McCaskill. Arrangements by Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott.
William Oliver
William James "Red" Oliver, 80, passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2003, at his home in Prescott.
Mr. Oliver was born on February 9, 1923, in Smackover, the son of Albert Oliver and Lillian Walls Tunnell.
He was a graduate of Reader Central High. William enlisted in the Army and served in World War II. He served as a City Council Alderman for more than 20 years and Vice President of the Nevada County Fair for numerous years. He was an independent logging contractor for Potlatch for 54 years, also owner of the Exxon Service Station and the Trailways Bus Station in Prescott for 10 years. He was a member of Central Baptist Church in Prescott, a 32 degree Mason and a member of the Masonic Lodge in Prescott.
Survivors include: wife of 62 years, Blanche Lee (Smith) Oliver of Prescott; three sons, James A. Oliver and wife Ann, William P. Oliver and wife Penny, and Terry Oliver and Julie Stockton all of Prescott; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services for Mr. Oliver were held Friday, December 19, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Central Baptist Church in Prescott. Burial was at DeAnn cemetery with Rev. Chad Brandon officiating the service under the direction of Shackelford Funeral Home.
Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, December 18, 2003.

Janice Porter
Janice Caudle Porter, 67, of Bodcaw, died January 19, 2004, at Baptist Hospital in Little Rock.
She was a bookkeeper for Bodcaw and Nevada Schools and secretary and recorder for City of Bodcaw, and treasurer for the Bodcaw and Waterloo Water System. She was born December 31, 1936 in Bodcaw. She was a member of Bodcaw Baptist Church in Bodcaw. She was the daughter of Austin and Irba Boswell Caudle.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jackie Porter and a grandson, David Porter.
Survivors include: one son, Bruce and wife Teresa Porter of Hope; two daughters, Lisa McCain and husband Rick of Bodcaw and Susan Baker and husband David of El Dorado; one brother, Bobby Caudle of Bodcaw; two sisters, Naomi Butler and Betty Brown of Bodcaw; seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were Wednesday, January 21, 2004, at 2 p.m. in the Bodcaw Baptist Church in Bodcaw. Rev. Jerry Evans officiating with burial in the Union cemetery in Bodcaw.
Visitation was 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, January 20, 2004, at the funeral home.
Services under the direction of Herndon Funeral Home, Inc. in Hope.
Katherine Kalba
Mrs. Katherine Kalba, 78, of Prescott, died Tuesday, January 20, 2004, in Christus St. Michael Hospital in Texarkana, Tex.
She was born November 4, 1925, in DeWitt to Cecil and Ola Jacobs Huddleston.
She was a teller with Southwest Federal Savings and Loan and also the Bank of Delight. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Prescott and their XYZ Club. She was also a member of Submarine Veterans of WWII Ladies Auxiliary and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary of Prescott.
She was preceded in death by one son, Gary Lee Kalba, and by her parents.
Her survivors include: her husband of 57 years, Charles Kalba of Prescott; two daughters, Kathy Stephenson of Prescott and Karen Morrow and Steve of Hope; seven grandchildren, Anne Williams and Chris, Kyle Beebe and Jennifer, Chris Stephenson, Katie Revels and Kevin, Mikki Brown and T.J., Karen Phillips and Joe, and Jennifer Davidson; and two great-grandchildren, Shawn and Micayala.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Thursday, January 22, 2004, at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home Chapel in Prescott with Rev. Jim Lenderman officiating. Graveside services were 2 p.m. Friday, January 23, 2004, at DeWitt cemetery in DeWitt. Burial followed. Arrangements by Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott.

Peter Orisko
Mr. Peter Orisko, 84, of Bodcaw Community of Rosston, died Tuesday, January 20, 2004, at Medical Park Hospital in Hope.
He was born April 14, 1919, in Great Falls, Montana to Michael and Anna Orisko.
He was a retired Master Sargent with the U.S. Army. He was a member of Bodcaw Baptist Church in Bodcaw and was a 33rd degree Mason.
His survivors include: his wife, Nora Loyer Orisko of Bodcaw; one sister; four nephews and two nieces.
Funeral services were 10 a.m. Saturday, January 24, 2004, at Bodcaw Baptist Church in Bodcaw with Rev. Jerry Evans officiating. Burial followed in Union cemetery in Bodcaw. Arrangements by Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home in Hope.

May Green
May Bell Green, 83, of Magnolia, died Tuesday, January 20, 2004, at Magnolia City Hospital.
She was born May 7, 1920, in Nevada County to the late Luchus Berry and Tina Green.
She was a homemaker; a member of Antioch West Baptist Church and a former Sunday School teacher.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Terry Michael Green; three brothers, Lonnie, Iman Lee and James Green; one daughter-in-law, Bobbie Green and a granddaughter, Sheena Green.

Jodie Parr
Jodie Carolyn Higginbotham Parr, 70, of Royal, died Sunday, January 18, 2004 at a hospital in Texarkana.
Mrs. Parr was born May 17, 1933, in Caney. She was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Royal. Jodie taught Sunday school and sang in the church choir for many years.
Mrs. Parr was preceded in death by husband, John M. Parr; son John "Ray" Parr; daughter Pamela Parr; her parents T.B. and Fannie Higginbotham; and sister Lillian Hopson.
Survivors include her grand-daughter, Julia Parr Stevens and husband David; one great-great-grandchild Lillian Grace Stevens; one sister and brother-in-law Peggy and Dr. Arlis Loe of Texarkana; nieces Melanie Loe of Dallas, Angela Loe Kincade of Memphis, Donna McKelvy of Prescott; nephews David Loe of Dallas, Duane Hopson of Anchorage.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, January 23, at Caruth Hale Funeral Home in Hot Springs, with Bro. George Lynch officiating. Burial was at 1 p.m. in Caney cemetery in Prescott, at the intersection of Highway 299 and Cale Road. Visitation was from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, January 22, under direction of Caruth-Hale Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.
Katherine Hale
Mrs. Katherine Matthews Hale, 90, of Prescott, passed away Friday, January 23, 2004, at Christus St. Michael Hospital in Texarkana, Tex.
Katherine was born March 15, 1913, in Glenwood, to George W. and Nona Harper Matthews. She was a graduate of Hope High School and attended Henderson State Teachers College in Arkadelphia. She was a student at the school of nursing at St. Paul's Hospital in Dallas, Tex., and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. She was surgical nurse at the Cora Donnell Hospital in Prescott when she met and married
Eugene B. Hale of Prescott in 1934. She was a member of the Baptist Church and later the First Methodist Church of Prescott and taught Sunday School and was a member of the W.S.C.S.
She was a Charter member of the Prescott Tri-Service Club. She was a past President of the Prescott PTA and a member of the DAR and the B&PW.; She maintained her nursing license and worked part time in later years.
Katherine loved to travel. She made trips to the Holy Land, Ireland and England. She would frequently report on her travels to the local newspaper. She enjoyed driving her car to see friends and relatives. She never met a stranger and made many friends and acquaintances over the years.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Eugene B. Hale, and by two sisters, Helen Higbee and Faye Sullivan.
Her survivors include: three sons, Eugene B. Hale, Jr. of Prescott, N. Patrick Hale, M.D., of St. Augustine, Fla., and Steve Hale of Houston, Tex.; five grandchildren, Rachel and Ben Hale of Prescott, Jennifer Susan Hale of San Francisco, Calif., Patrick Hale, Jr. of San Francisco, Calif., and Nona Hale of Houston, Tex.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Monday, January 26, 2004, at First Methodist Church in Prescott with Rev. Jim Lenderman officiating. Burial was in DeAnn cemetery in Prescott. Arrangements by Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott.
