Michael Gauntt
Mr. Michael Shawn Gauntt, 31, of Hope, died Friday, July 16, 2004, at Medical Park Hospital in Hope.
He was born September 30, 1972, in Hope to Michael John and Judy Lane Hart Gauntt. He was a mechanic and a rodeo bullfighter.
He was preceded in death by his father, Michael Gauntt, who died in 1984, and by one brother, Josh Gauntt who died in 1994.
His survivors include: two sons, Dustin Gauntt of Hope and Seth Gaunt of Texarkana; his mother, Judy Gauntt Hammock and Gerald of Hope; one sister, Shelley Keith and Mark of Hope; his paternal grandmother, Ardelia Gauntt of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; his maternal grandmother, Sue Hart of Rosston; his maternal great-grandmother, Elsie Williams of Rosston and several aunts and uncles.
Funeral services were 10 a.m. Monday, July 19, 2004, at Rosston First Baptist Church with Rev. William Tyler and Rev. Greg White officiating. Burial followed in Rosston cemetery in Rosston. Arrangements by Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home in Hope

Rufus Arnold
Mr. Rufus Arnold of Prescott, passed away Friday, July 16, 2004.
Funeral services will be Saturday, July 24, 2004, at the Prescott High School Auditorium.
Willie Cross
Willie Chamberlain Cross, 97, of El Dorado, died Monday, July 19, 2004, at Hudson Memorial Nursing Home.
She was born December 5, 1906, in Rosston. Her parents are Samuel Chamberlain and Lenore (Atkins) Chamberlain.
She was a homemaker and member of Parkers Chapel United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Marion Cross, her parents, daughter-in-law Jeanett Cross, granddaughter Lisa Cross Kiplinger, brothers, Veul, Cleave and Terrel Chamberlain and one sister, Velma Hart.
Survivors include: one son, Bobby Cross of El Dorado; one brother, W.F. Chamberlain of El Dorado, two grandchildren, Robert E. and Christa Cross of Fenton, Mo. and Beverly Weinberg of El Dorado; five great-grandchildren, Becky Moore, Amanda Davis, Tiffany Weinberg, Paul Messel and Aaron Messel; nine great-great-grandchildren, David, Joshua, Taylor, Caleb, Cameron, Jacob, Kelsey, Starlyn and Zane; a number of nephews, nieces and other relatives.
Services were 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, 2004, at Young's Chapel with Rev. Jim Cross and Rev. Richard Knott officiating. Burial was in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in El Dorado.

Carolyn Arnett
Mrs. Carolyn Jane Hays Arnett, 84, of Magnolia, formerly of Prescott, died Sunday, July 25, 2004, at her home.
She was born August 2, 1919, in Prescott to William O. and Rosa Louise Ingram Hays.
She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert H. "Bob" Arnett; one brother, William H. Hays; and by one sister, Lucille Maxwell.
Her survivors include: two daughters, Rosa Louise Roberts and Rodney of Magnolia and Mary Russell and Tony of Prescott; five grandchildren, Michael Roberts of Magnolia, Robert Roberts of Panama City, Fla., Randall Roberts of Magnolia and Leslie and Jacob Russell both of Prescott.
Graveside services were 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 27, 2004, at DeAnn cemetery, Prescott, with Rev. Jerry G. Westmoreland officiating. Burial followed. Arrangements by Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott.

Freeman McKelvy
Mr. Freeman Quinn McKelvy, 58, of Houston, Texas, formerly of Prescott, passed away Wednesday, July 21, 2004, at Michael DeBakey VA Medical Center, Houston, after a short battle with lung cancer.
He was born on September 26, 1945, and raised in Nevada County, the youngest child of Lee Roy and Mari Martin McKelvy.
He was a 1963 graduate of Prescott High School, 1967 graduate of Southern State College (now Southern Arkansas University) of Magnolia, receiving his BBA in accounting. He enlisted in the army and in 1968 he was commissioned as a Lt. He served his remainder of his military career as Senior Intelligence Officer on the S.E. Asia/China desk with the office of the assistant chief of staff for Intelligence at their offices at the National Security Agency in Washington, D.C.
He resided in Houston for 25 years employed as a Corporate Federal Tax Manager with the Coastal Corp of Houston. He elected early retirement in June 2001 upon the merger of Coastal into El Paso Corp. He has been fully retired since that time. He was very laid back, easy going and got along well with everyone. He, as a kind, gentle man was happiest when he was gardening. He was an avid gardener and lover of all things that bloom and a self-taught student of horticulture. He loved nice things, great food and conversation with friends. He loved to eat out, experience life and loved animals. He was a supporter of wildlife funds, such as the World Wildlife Fund and environmental causes such as the Sierra Club. He loved to entertain and his guests have said there was no more gracious a host than Freeman.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Freeman was especially grateful for the love, support and care given by his loving sister, Bonita, during his illness.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Michael DeBakey Veterans Affairs Center in Houston for the care they provided to Freeman.
His survivors include: one brother, John Fletcher McKelvy of Prescott and two sisters, Sophie Marie McKelvy Taylor of Prescott and Bonita McKelvy Whitecotton of Shreveport, La.
Graveside services were Saturday, July 24, 2004, at Ebeneezer cemetery Bluff City, with Rev. Jerry G. Westmoreland officiating. Burial followed. Arrangements by Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott.
Donnie Roberts
Mrs. Donnie Roberts, 75, of Andrews, Texas, formerly of Washington, Ark., died Tuesday, July 20, 2004 at Permain Residential Care Center in Andrews.
She was born July 18, 1929, in Star City, to Charlie Alfred and Rosie Lee Allen Johnson.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband the late D.D. "Jack" Roberts in 1981.
Her survivors include: two brothers, Jake Johnson of Mexia, Texas, and Alfred Johnson of Star City; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were 10 a.m. Friday, July 23, 2004, at Washington cemetery, Washington with Mr. Harley Sisson officiating. Burial followed. Arrangements by Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home in Hope.

John Adams, Jr.
John T. Adams, Jr., 95, of Imboden, passed away, Sunday, August 1, 2004, at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital following a short illness.
Born May 10, 1909, in Prescott, son of John T. and Mary Eula Blakley Adams, Sr. Mr. Adams was a retired farmer and a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church at Annieville.
Mr. Adams was united in marriage to Hazel Marie Miller November 5, 1942, who preceded him in death February 20, 1997.
Mr. Adams was also preceded in death by three brothers, Alris Adams, Sam Adams and Lillard Adams.
Mr. Adams is survived by a brother, Tillman Adams of Ft. Smith; one sister, Marie White; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
Graveside services were 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 4, 2004, with Bro. Jerry Clements officiating.
Interment at Hope cemetery.
Pallbearers Tom Marbry, Lavon Young, James Adams, Jerry Foley, Marvin Burns, and Bob Tomlinson.

Elizabeth Stratman
Mrs. Elizabeth Garland Stratman, 89, of Carrollton, Texas, died Sunday, August 8, 2004, at the Brookhaven Nursing Center in Carrollton.
Mrs. Stratman was born August 24, 1914, in Emmet, to John McSwain and Elizabeth Christopher Garland. She attended what were then Magnolia A&M; and Arkansas Teachers College. She was a homemaker. She was a Presbyterian and served in many positions in her church wherever she lived. She was also a member of DAR and served two terms as regent of the Joseph Habersham Chapter of the DAR in Atlanta.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, George Stratman, her son John, and her sisters, Max Hairston and Jane McCoy.
Survivors include two nieces and their husbands, Jane and Ali Rahmani of Carrollton, and Anne and John Kirkpatrick of Arlington, Va.; two nephews and their wives, Eddie and Sue McCoy of Hot Springs, and Max and Nancy McCoy of Orlando, Fla., and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
The body was cremated and interment was in Snell cemetery in Emmet at a later time. Memorials may be made too Snell cemetery.
Margaret Reed
Mrs. Margaret Ann Reed, 84, of Emmet, passed away Monday, August 23, 2004 in Linrock Health and Rehab Nursing Center in Texarkana, Texas.
She was born April 13, 1920, in DeAnn to Odas and Ivey Ruth Prince Honeycutt.
She was a retired Shanhouse employee and former egg inspector/processor with Kroger Co. of Hope. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Emmet, and was with the Hope Hospital Auxiliary for more than 18 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert R. "Buck" Reed, who died in August 2000.
Her survivors include: one son, Larry Reed of Emmet; one daughter, Dianne Halliwill and Steve of Emmet; two brothers, J.T. Honeycutt and Ray Honeycutt both of Hope; three sisters, Verda Mae Garrett of Prescott, Oveta Kennedy of Mesquite, Texas, and Sue Staner of Highlands, Texas; five grandchildren, Tracie Ann Brewster of Emmet, Michael Reed of Redding, Calif., Robin Reed, of Spring Hill, Randy Reed of Texarkana, Ark., and Shane Antley, US Marine Corp., Camp Pendelton, San Diego, Calif.; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were 10 a.m. Thursday, August 26, 2004, at First Baptist Church in Emmet, with Mr. Bobby Harden and Mr. Steve Halliwill officiating. Burial was in Snell cemetery in Emmet. Arrangements by Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home in Hope.
