Korey Evans
Mr. Korey Elijah Evans, infant, died in Texarkana, Ark., Saturday, January 1, 2005, in UAMS Hospital in Little Rock.
He was born on Saturday, January 1, 2005, in UAMS Hospital in Little Rock.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, James Michael White, who died December 2003.
His survivors include: his mother, LaTisha Ward of Texarkana, Ark.; his father, Stacy Evans three brothers, Dorain Evans, Sam Evans, and KeAndre Evans all of Junction City, La.; his paternal grandmother, Sarah Evans of Junction City, La.; maternal grandmother, Belinda Gallagher and Ronnie of Texarkana, Ark.; his maternal great-grandparents, James O. and Charlotte White of Emmet and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Graveside services were 11 a.m. Saturday, January 8, 2005, at Snell cemetery in Emmet, Rev. Allen Peebles officiating. Burial followed. Arrangements by Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home in Hope.

Frances Harvey
Mrs. Frances Belle Harvey, 80, of Prescott, died Tuesday, January 18, 2005, at her home.
She was born on March 11, 1924, in New Hope Community of Nevada County to Remmell an Laura DeWoody Grayson.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Prescott.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward "Dick" Harvey; by one daughter, Connie Belle Glaze; by one brother, Jack Taylor Grayson, Sr.; and by one sister, Evelyn Grayson Hildebrand.
Her survivors include: one son, Jackie R. Harvey and Barbara of Prescott; one daughter, Laura Candace Harvey of Dallas, Texas; one brother, Bobby Ronald Grayson of Nashville, Tenn.; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and several special caregivers, Idella Hayes, Sherri McClure, Patsy White, Thelma Floyd, Mary Edwards, and Debbi Shewbirt.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Friday, January 21, 2005, at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home Chapel in Prescott with Rev. Jerry G. Westmoreland officiating. Burial followed in Bluff City cemetery in Bluff City. Arrangements by Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott.
Family received friends Thursday, January 20, 2005, from 6-8 p.m. at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott.

Robert Faulkner
Mr. Robert M. "Bob" Faulkner, 62, of Emmet, died Monday, January 17, 2005, in Heather Manor Nursing and Rehab in Hope.
He was born December 28, 1942, in Hope to Marcus Faulkner and Thelma Jones Faulkner Watkins.
He was an x-ray technician with Medical Park Hospital in Hope. He was a U.S. Marine Corp. Veteran of the Vietnam War; a member of Hope VFW Post 4511; a Mason and member of Whitfield Masonic Lodge #239 of Hope; and member of the Elks and Eagles.
His survivors include: his wife, Nora McRoy Faulkner of Emmet; two sons, Mark Faulkner of Hope and Scott Faulkner of Camp LeJune, N. Carolina - U.S. Marine Corp; two daughters, Linda Hansen of Chicago, Ill. and Cindy Green of Hope; two step-daughters, Tammy Franklin and Terri Coffee both of Hope; four brothers, Larry Dell, Sr., Ronnie Dell, William Davis and Linard Watkins, all of St. Louis, Mo.; one sister, Linda Mulkey of St. Louis, Mo. and eight grandchildren.
Military graveside services were 10 a.m. Thursday, January 20, 2005, at Bright Star cemetery in Washington, Ark. with Rev. Charles Jones officiating. Burial followed.
Arrangements by Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home in Hope.
Family received friends Wednesday, January 19, 2005, from 6-8 p.m. at Brazzel/Oakcrest.

Jessie Sandifer
Mrs. Jessie Charles Sandifer, 86, of Prescott died January 12, 2005, in a Texarkana Hospital.
She was born November 16, 1918, in Laneburg. She was a member of Mount Cana Baptist Church.
Survivors include: two daughters, Ada Lee Sandifer Albert of Marvell, and Linda Faye Sandifer Logan of St. Paul, Minn.; four sons, John David Sandifer, Jr. and Albert Sandifer both of St. Paul, Minn., Chester Ray Sandifer of Wichita, Kan., and Tyree Sandifer of Prescott; 18 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Pauline Banks of Seattle, Wash. and Bessie Maloney of Wichita, Kan.; two brothers, Earnest and Dexter Charles of Seattle, Wash.
Services were 11 a.m. Saturday, January 22, 2005, at Mount Cana Baptist Church, Route 2, Prescott, with Rev. Fred Walters officiating.
Interment was at Sweet Home cemetery in Prescott. Visitation was 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at the funeral home.

Harold Richardson, Jr.
Mr. Harold Richardson, Jr. 68, of Emmet, passed away Wednesday, January19, 2005, in Wadley Regional Medical Center in Texarkana, Texas.
He was born September 30, 1936, in Rosston to Sidney and Lillie May Richardson. He was a retired Air Force Veteran Aircraft Radio Mechanic and retired maintenance supervisor of Firestone in Prescott. He was a member and trustee of First Baptist Church of Emmet.
He was preceded in death by his parents; by one brother and three sisters.
His survivors include: his wife of 40 years, Margie McBride Richardson of Emmet; two sons, Tim Richardson and Jena of Emmet and Jerry Jones of Emmet; two daughters, Patti Gulley and Ricky of Emmet and Darlene Smith of Mississippi; three sisters, Louise Wallace, Ruth Edwards, and Inez Randall all of Memphis, Tenn.; and six grandchildren, Brock, Brent, Justin, Jordan, Brawn, and Nicki.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Saturday, January 22, 2005, at First Baptist Church in Emmet with Rev. Johnny Jackson and Rev. Jerry G. Westmoreland officiating. Burial was in Harmony cemetery in Sutton. Arrangements by Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home in Hope.
Family received friends Friday, January 21, 2005, from 6-8 p.m. at Brazzel/Oakcrest.

Sarah White
Sarah Adams White was born September 20, 1955, to Rosemary Reed and Aurther Adams in Ozan.. She departed this life on Sunday, January 16, 2005.
Sarah attended Childress and Nashville High School. She attended St. Mark CME Church in Ozan at an early age and later she joined Victory Way Church in Nashville, where she served as a Missionary Sunday School Superintendent and Sunday School teacher where she remained faithful until her death. Sarah enjoyed her field in nursing.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Robert L. White; one son, Cory L. Livingston, and stepson, Devon White; mother, Rosemary Whitmore; father, Aurther Adams; stepfather, Glen Whitmore; one grandchild, Robert Morgan; six sisters, Frances Fultcher and husband Kent, Peggy Pryor, Regina Hugle and husband Trent, and Carolyn Scoggins all of Nashville and Shirley Metz of Troy, Ohio; brothers-in-law, Nero "Pat" White, Cardell White from California, Willie Sandra White of Flint, Mich. and Billy Ray White of Nashville; two sisters-in-law, Bobby Joe Finley of Schall and Francene Murphy of Ohio and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services were 11 a.m. Saturday, January 22, 2005, at Memorial Church of God in Christ with Bishop Willie Claisher, Jr. officiating. Burial followed in Sunset Gardens under the direction of Nashville Funeral Home.

Edgar Spears
Mr. Edgar E. Spears, 97, of Blevins, died Friday, January 21, 2005, at Medical Park Hospital in Hope.
He was born on May 3, 1907, in Hot Spring County to William F. and Mollie Smith Spears. He was a retired Arkansas Game and Fish employee.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ora Booth Spears; by one son, William Franklin Spears; by one daughter, Clarice Faye Evans; by one brother, Ben Spears; and by two sisters, Clara Spears Channell and Katy Spears McDaniel.
Survivors include: one son, Charles E. Spears of McCaskill; one daughter, Priscilla Spears of Blevins; one grandson, raised in the home, Wayne Woodall of Hope; three brothers, Fred Spears, Oscar Spears and George Spears all of Malvern; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and several great- great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Sunday, January 23, 2005, Friendship United Methodist Church in McCaskill, with Rev. Paul Choate officiating. Burial followed in Friendship cemetery in McCaskill. Arrangements by Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott.
Family received friends Saturday, January 22, 2005, from 6-8 p.m. at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott.

Alma Smith
Alma E. Smith of El Dorado, passed away Saturday, January 22, 2005, at Chambers Nursing Home in Carlisle.
The Mason Community, north of Hazen in Prarie County was her birthplace. Her parents were William A. Mason, Sr. and Rosa Jenkins Mason.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Loyd P. Smith of Prescott; four brothers, Williams A. Mason, Jr., Ollie Mason, and Elva Kittler all of Carlisle and James O. Mason of Gladwynne, Penn.
"Aunt Alma" as she was affectionately called is survived by sister-in-law Joy Mason of Carlisle; nephews, John Mason of Jacksonville, Richard Mason of Sherwood, W.H. Kittler of Carlisle, Keith Mason of El Dorado, and Jim Mason of Boulder, Colo.; nieces include LaQuita Bennett of Carlisle, Rozanne Bell of Hickory Plains, Joan Mason of Verona, Italy and Jeanne Carroll of Richardson, Texas. She has lots of grandnephews and grandnieces who she loved dearly. She has special friends, Pat and Ceaser Massinelli of Hot Springs Village.
Aunt Alma graduated from Hazen High School in 1930. Afterwards she attended the School of Business in Little Rock. She worked at the munitions factory in Jacksonville during World War II. Afterwards she moved to El Dorado and worked for Lion Oil for 35 years where she retired.
Funeral services were held at Westbrook Funeral Home in Hazen on Tuesday morning, January 25, at 10 a.m. Graveside serves were in Prescott on the same day at 2:30 p.m.
Family visitation was held from 6-7 p.m. on Monday, January 24, 2005, at Westbrook Funeral Home in Hazen.

Virginia Hays
Virginia Waller Hays, 92, of Gurdon, died Thursday, February 10, at Twin Rivers Health Center in Arkadelphia.
Born April 30, 1912, she was the eldest of three children of Wiley Ben and Ruby Slayton Waller.
She grew up in Prescott, attended Prescott High School, Galloway College and graduated from Henderson State Teachers College in Arkadelphia. An enthusiastic and dedicated teacher, her teaching career spanned more than 40 years, most of which was at Okolona Public School and later retiring from Gurdon Public School. She never lost her genuine childlike zest for life, even after many years of retirement.
Her faith and church work at Gurdon Presbyterian Church were an integral part of her life. She possessed a remarkable relationship with her three grandchildren, celebrating birthdays, holidays and everyday activities of reading and playing games. Quality time and personal attention were priceless gifts she so freely and joyously gave. She loved and appreciated the simple yet beautiful and complex aspects of nature, the trees, birds and flowers were a daily delight for her.
For many years she enjoyed the association with friends through her bridge club, the Gurdon Garden Club, the Kadohadacho Service Club and the American Legion Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, William Hays, who was a lifelong Okolona farmer; also a brother, Ben Waller of Longview, Tex.
Survivors include: one son, William "Mack" Hays and his wife Sarabeth of Arkadelphia; one sister, Molly MacKown of Silverthorne, Colo.; three grandchildren, Molly Pruss and her husband, Fred of Little Rock; Jim Ed Hays and his wife, Shannon of Gurdon and Julie Hays of Arkadelphia.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, February 11, 2005, in Rose Hedge cemetery in Gurdon, with Pastor Daniel Kirkpatrick officiating. Burial was under the direction of Horne Funeral Home. Visitation was at the funeral home prior to service.

Ruth Wiley
Mrs. Ruth Hershberger Wylie, 92, of Hope, died Wednesday, February 9, 2005, in Medicalodge Progressive and Rehab Center in Texarkana, Ark.
She was born July 10, 1912 in Cleveland, Ohio, to Morrow and Hazel Hershberger.
She was retired former co-owner of Wylie Glass and Salvage in Hope. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Hope, Jett B. Graves Sunday School, Choir Member and former Treasurer of the church; Life member with 50+ years in Girl Scouts and the Friday Music Club; Instrumental in the beginning of the School of Hope and one of the original board members; member of John Cain Chapter of DAR; Eastern Star; Extension Homemakers Club; Volunteer with S.W. District Livestock Association; First Female member of Golden K of Hope; Former Citizen of the Year for Hope in 1998; and avid supporter of the Hope Bands.
She was preceded in the by her husband Arch Wylie, who died in 1996; and by two brothers, David and Carl Hershberger.
Her survivors include: two sons, Birkett Wylie and Barbara and Dale G. Wylie and Ann, all of Hope; one daughter, Ruth Ann Hairston and James of Hope; six grandchildren, Steve Wylie and Sherry and Stacy Wylie and Jerita all of Hope, Alan Wylie and Deanne of Springfield, Mo., Cindy Wylie of Tulsa, Okla., Angie Gentry and Anthony and Amanda Brown and Wayne, all of Hope; and 11 great-grandchildren, Ben, Cory, Adam, Austin, Taylor, Jordan, Brady, Alex, Wylie, Ramsey, and Garrison.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Friday, February 11, 2005, at First United Methodist Church in Hope. Burial was in Memory Gardens cemetery in Hope.
Arrangements by Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home in Hope.
Family received friends, Thursday, February 10, 2005, from 6-8 p.m. at Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home in Hope.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the School of Hope, 500 S. Main, Hope or First United Methodist Church, Choir Fund, P.O. Box 400, Hope, Ark. 71801.
