Mary Yancey
Mary Sue Yancey, died August 23, 2006, in Atlanta, Ga.
She was born July 17, 1906 in Prescott and was preceded in death by her husband, Watson W. Yancey in 1979.
She is survived by her son, Thomas Yancey and daughter-in-law Marilyn of Atlanta; two grandchildren, Kevin Yancey and Beth Weltlich; four great-grandchildren; her sister, Betty Erskine and her husband, Allen of Texarkana, Ark.
Graveside service was Saturday, August 26, 2006 at 11 a.m. in DeAnn cemetery in Prescott. Shackelford Funeral Home in charge.
Donnie Cox
Donnie Cox, 51, died August 24, 2006.
He owned a logging business.
Survivors include two sons, Nathan (Amanda Jo Freeman) and David Cox, all of Blevins; one daughter, Angelia Maroney and husband Clint of Emmet; two sisters, Lana Haynie and Loretta Ward, both of Prescott; four grandchildren, Jaycee and Ethan Jarrell and Darcy and Blain Cox; and a special friend, Kim Daugherty and her daughter, Shealynn Stone.
Services were August 26 at 3 p.m., Crossroads Assembly of God in Delight. Interment was in Bethel cemetery, by Shackelford Funeral Home.
Esther Howell
Mrs. Esther Nivens Howell, 88, of Hope, died Monday, September 11, 2 006, at Medical Park Hospital in Hope.
She was born in Wallaceburg, on July 26, 1918, to Add and Minnie Morrow Nivens. She was a retired business partner of the former Howell Oldsmobile and Equipment Co. of Prescott, and retired receptionist with Walker Realty of Hope. She was a member of Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Don Howell; one son, Jessie Wayne Howell; one grandson, Robert Walker; three brothers, John, Leroy and Lyndell Nivens.
Her survivors include two sons, Charles Donald Howell of Texarkana and Mike Howell of Pensacola, Flo.; two daughters, Mary Sue Walker and Janice Howell Walker, both of Hope; one brother, Wendell Nivens of Alabama; four sisters, Naomi Slatton of Little Rock, Bobbye Calhoon of Dallas, Texas, Ruby Brown of Sherwood, and Snow Hill of Blevins; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m., Wednesday, September 13, 2006, at Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home Chapel in Hope, with Revs. Mike Howell, Coy Zumwalt and Glen Tropp officiating. Burial was in Betty Nivens cemetery in Wallaceburg Community of Blevins. Arrangements by Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home in Hope.
Family received friends Tuesday, September 12, 2006, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home in Hope.
James Jester
Mr. James D. Jester, 60, of Prescott, died Monday, September 11, 2 006, in Baptist Health Hospital in Arkadelphia.
He was born on January 31, 1946, in Prescott, to Charles Dale and Carolyn Sanders Jester. He was a self-employed carpenter. He was a member of the Central Baptist Church in Prescott, and the Army National Guard.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by his step-father, Robert D. Brown and by special parents, Cecil and Ione Jester.
His survivors include his wife of 36 years, Brenda S. 'Susie' Lee Jester of Prescott; two daughters, Mendy Loe and Bobby of Prescott and Brandi Braden and Darren of Hope; three sisters, Carolyn Harrison and Ron of Ventura, Cal., Reba House and Billy of Prescott, and Joyce Willis and Glen of Batesville; maternal grandmother, Jessie Morgan of Oxnard, Calif., and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m., Thursday, September 14, 2 006, at Central Baptist Church in Prescott, with Revs. Perry Johnson and Jerry G. Westmoreland officiating. Burial followed in Delight cemetery in Delight. Arrangements by Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott.

Walter Ridgell
Walter Barham Ridgell, 89, of Little Rock, passed away Sept. 14, 2006. He was born Nov. 14, 1916, in Prescott, the son of Walter Ridgell and Sallie Barham Ridgell.
He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, hunting and fishing. He was a cabinetmaker for Mechanics Lumber and worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture. He was a Mason and an ordained Deacon at Indian Springs Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Mr. Ridgell is survived by his wife of 66 years, Marie Stuart Ridgell; his children, Mary Stanton and her husband Ted of Alexander, Sandra Kay Sipes and her husband Mike of Alexander, and Bob Ridgell and his wife Ann of Oologah, Okla.; grandchildren, Mark, Alisa, and Eric Stanton, Kevin Ridgell, Krista Crenshaw, Scott and Michael Shearer, Melissa Halley, Lynn Melikian, Karen and Michael Sipes; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Saturday, September 16, at 10 a.m. at Indian Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Tom Williams and Rev. R.D. Harrington officiating. Pallbearers were Mark Stanton, Scott Shearer, Kevin Ridgell, Michael Shearer, Bruce Crenshaw, Baker Halley and Tom Smart. Honorary pallbearers were Eric Stanton, Michael Sipes, Tommy Young and members of the Senior Adult Men's Bible Class. Burial followed at Pinecrest Memorial Park. Family received friends Friday, September 15, from 6-8 p.m. at Griffin Leggett Healey and Roth, 5800 West 12th Street, Little Rock.

Keith Bell
Keith Wayne Bell of Prescott went home to be with his Lord on Sept. 20, 2006.
He was born May 27, 1976, to Donna and Joe Bell, at Canon City,
Colo. He was a member of South Fork Baptist Church and an employee of Nevada County Day Services. He loved video games,
country and gospel music, and was a great fan of the classic comedy
movies.
He is survived by his parents, Donna and James Wilder of Gurdon and Joe and Nancy Bell of Canon City, Colo.; one sister, Shannon Bell of Arkadelphia; and grandparents Ollie Mae and Buster Purifoy of Gurdon.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday, at Horne Funeral Home Chapel in Gurdon. Burial will follow at South Fork cemetery under the direction of Horne Funeral Home.
Uvern Clay
Uvern Clay, 62, of Prescott, died Thursday, September 28, 2006, at St. Michael’s Hospital in Texarkana, Texas.
Uvern Clay was born February 7, 1944, in Cornerstone, to the parentage of the late Julius Clay and Bernice Toney Clay. He was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church and later united with Mt. Ephesus Baptist Church where he was a deacon, Sunday school superintendent and teacher and a member of the Brotherhood. Uvern was a retired engineer for American Can Company and later received training from Vanderick Trading School and open his business for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning. Fishing was his favorite pastime. He served in the United States Air Force from June 1962-May1966.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Bernice.
Survivors include, his wife, Bobbie Tyree Clay of Prescott; one son, Joseph C. Tyree of Kansas City, Mo.; four brothers, Leon Clay of St. Louis, Mo., Kenneth and Barbara Clay, Allen and Belinda Clay and Dennis and Ruby Clay, all of Pine Bluff; six sisters, Alma Clay and Carolyn Clay, both of Los Angeles, Calif., Everlyn and Joe Bryant, Doris Clay, and Vernetta Clay, all of Pine Bluff, and Jacqueline and Roy Tillmon of Dolton, Ill.; two grandchildren; his mother-in-law, Orene Flemons of Prescott; five brothers-in-law, Lee Willis Flemons of Denver, Colo., Sylvester Flemons of Dallas, Texas, Calvin Flemons of Prescott, Ricky Flemons of San Leandro, Calif., and Timothy Flemons of Las Vegas, Nev.; one sister-in-law, Fannie and Donald Colbert of Hope.
Funeral services were Friday, October 6, 2006, at 11 a.m. at United Methodist Church, West 2nd North Street, Prescott, with Rev. F.L. Walter pastor of Mt. Ephesus Baptist Church officiating and Elder Keelan A. Atkinson, eulogist.
Burial was in Laneburg cemetery in Laneburg, with Brandon’s Mortuary of Hope in charge of arrangements.
Visitation for family and friends was Thursday, October 5, 2006 from 6-8 p.m. in the chapel of Brandon’s Mortuary of Hope.
Donald Spigner
Donald Ray Spigner, 60, formerly of Prescott, passed away September 26, 2006 in Little Rock, after a lengthy battle with cancer.
He was born March 26, 1946, in Prescott, where he was raised by his loving grandmother, Bertha Brown (Big Mama). He was retired from the USAF.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Bertha Brown and a sister, Patsy Crews.
He is survived by his father, Raymond Spigner of Texarkana, Texas; his mother, Florine Williams of Mabelvale; daughters, Michelle Crowder of Prescott and Nicole (Niki) Spigner of Prescott; a son, Ray Spigner and wife Nina of New Harmony, Utah; grandson, Michael Crowder (Rooster) of Prescott; granddaughters, Kimberly Crowder of Prescott and Crista Albright of New Harmony, Utah; brothers, Jerry Spigner of Pearcy, Roger Spigner of Lockesburg, Dale Spigner of Hot Springs, Wes Spigner of Point Cedar, and Gary Williams of Benton; and a sister, Betty Forrester of Conway.
The funeral services were held at Roller-Drummond Chapel in Little Rock. His burial was at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander.
Collen Gulley
Collen Gulley, 81, of Prescott, died Tuesday, October 4, 2006, in Medical Park Hospital in Hope.
He was born March 10, 1995, in Bluff City to Frank and Daisy Clanahan Gulley in Bluff City. He was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church in Bluff City and former owner of Collen Gulley and Sons Sawmill. He attended Bluff City School. He served in the US Air Force.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Pearlie Gulley; four brothers and one sister.
He is survived by five children, Willis Gulley of Rockford, Ill., Frankie Gulley, Cullen Ray Gulley and Johnny Gulley, all of Chidester; and Carolyn Smith of Prescott; three sisters, Lee Helen Threadgill of Bluff City, Gertude Johnson and Lois Abner of Michigan, and Trudell Mixon of Calif.; twenty-one grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Monday, October 9, 2006, at 2 p.m. in Union Grove Baptist Church with Rev. James Forte officiating. Burial was in Union Grove cemetery by Williams Funeral Home.
Emily Paladino
Emily M. Nuss Paladino, 64, of Prescott, died Thursday, October 5, 2006, in Medical Park Hospital in Hope. She was born September 12, 1942, in New Orleans, La. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Ralph Ricker of Prescott.
James Floyd
James Hershel (P-Leg) Floyd, 86, of Prescott, died October 29, 2006, in Hope.
He was born October 4, 1920 in Gurdon. He attended Calvary UPC in Gurdon. He was a retired logger. He was the son of James P. and Maggie Faulkner Floyd.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Floyd of 33 years; his mother and father; daughter, Dora Margaret Stinnett; one brother and two sisters.
Survivors include two daughters, Gloria Floyd and husband, Walter and Jamie Driver and husband, Allen; 21 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; four very special step-children; two step-sons, Bruce and Jean Jenkins and Paul and Sherri McClure; and two step-daughters, Betty and Don McMinn and Deena Lewis.
Graveside services were Wednesday, November 1, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. in Bethlehem cemetery with Bro. Bill O’Connel officiating, under the direction of Herndon Funeral Home.
Visitation was held Tuesday, October 31, 2006, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Herndon Funeral Home.
