Samuel Baker Blakely
Samuel Baker Blakely, 74, passed away Saturday, September 28, 1996, in San Antoino, Texas.
A descendent of Arkansas pioneers, he was born April 15, 1922, in Prescott to Irvin A. and Clarice Baker Blakely. He graduated from high school in Gurdon.
On June 23, 1942, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps and became a radio man and gunner on a B-17. He was attached to the 8th Air Force and flew 35 missions over Europe for which he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and other medals.
After his discharge from the service he entered the University of Texas and graduated from its School of Journalism. He was employed in editorial position on papers in Mission, Beaumont and San Antonio. He retired after 36 years with The San Antonio Light.
He was a member of the University Presbyterian Church in San Antonio, where he served as a deacon.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Virginia Shelton Blakely of San Antonio; a son, Brian Wayne; and two grandsons, Steven Samuel and Spencer Brian, all of New Braunfels, Texas; a brother, Newell H. Blakely of Houston, Texas, and a sister, Helen Lassiter of Hammond, Ind.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, October 1, at Waco Memorial Park in Waco, Texas, with Rev. Ron Durham officiating.

Angie Cogburn
Angie Cogburn, 63, of Roanoke, Texas, formerly of Prescott, died Thursday, October 17, 1996, at Columbia Medical Center in North Richland Hills, Texas.
Born in Chicago, Ill., on December 5, 1932, she was the daughter of Paul and Sophie Creti. She was a homemaker and a babysitter.
Survivors include her husband, Elvis Cogburn of Roanoke; two daugthers, Debby Ford of Roanoke and Cindy Godwin of Denham Springs, Texas; two sisters, Katherine Hamer and Mary Svboda, both of Chicago; one brother, Johnnty Creti of Hot Springs; four grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
Graveside services and burial were held Sunday, October 20, at Medlin cemetery in Roanoke with Rev. William Godwin officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home of Denton, Texas. Memorials may be made to the Angie Cogburn Memorial Fund, c/o Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz & Son, P.O. Box 1874, Denton, TX, 76202-1874.

Henry Hays Munn
Henry Hays Munn, 83, of Hope died Tuesday morning, October 15, 1996, at his home.
Born August 16, 1913, in Prescott, he was the son of Julia and Sam Munn, a veteran of World War II, a member of First United Methodist Church, Century Bible class, masons, Golden K Kiwanis Club and American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Cleo Munn of Hope; one daughter, Betty Whitley of Louisville, Ky.; and two grandsons.
Services were held Thursday, October 17, at Herndon Funeral Home chapel in Hope with Rev. Davis Thompson officiating. Burial was in Memory Garden cemetery under the direction of Herndon Funeral Home of Hope. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Hempstead County Hospice program or First United Methodist Church.

Ardell M. Clark
Ardell M. Clark, 88, of North Little Rock, formerly of DeAnn and Hope, died Saturday, October 12, 1996, in North Little Rock.
Born November 10, 1907, in DeAnn, he was the son of Alex and Maggie Clark. He was a resident engineer and maintenance supervisor for the Arkansas Highway Department, having retired in 1970. He was a member of the Hope Church of Christ, where he served as a deacon for many years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Moore Clark.
Survivors include a son, William Clark of Las Cruces, N.M.; two daughters, Sue Bolls of Three Forks, Mont., and Margie Wood of North Little Rock; one brother, Bryan Clark of Hope; eight grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.
Services were held Thursday, October 17, at Hope Church of Christ with Tommy Mounts and John Cannon officiating. Burial was in Memory Gardens cemetery under the direction of Herndon Funeral Home of Hope. Memorials may be made to the Hope Church of Christ or Harding University.

Charles Waters
Charles Waters, 75, of Camden died Tuesday, October 15, 1996.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Camden, where he was a member of Rose Couples Sunday school class. He was also a member of the Camden Evening Lions Club, the Masonic Lodge, a veteran of World War II and a retired Justice of the Peace. He was the owner of Sur-Wa Grocery and Siliman Furniture.
Survivors include three daughters, Nancy Bailey of Camden, Carolyn Billings of Bryant and Martha Ward of Visalia, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
Services were held Thursday, October 17, at Proctor Funeral Home with burial in Memorial Park under the direction of Proctor Funeral Home of Camden. Memorials may be made to Doctors Home Care.

Osroe Muldrew
Osroe Muldrew, 84, of Gurdon, formerly of Blevins, died Friday, October 11, 1996, in the John L. McClellan VA Hospital in Little Rock.
Born June 15, 1912, in Blevins, he was the son of Wardie and Hattie Muldrew. He was a retired employee of the steel mill, a veteran of World War II and a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church of Gurdon.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Muldrew of Gurdon; one son. L.C. Muldrew of Chicago, Ill.; one step son, Jimmy Russell of Chicago; three step daughters, Ruth Shorts, Dorothy Stevens and Earnestine Pipkins, all of Chicago; one brother, Rufus Muldrew of Prescott; five sisters, Lula Frazier and Cordia Charles of Prescott; Bertha Mae Zachary and Irene Muldrew, both of Rockford, Ill., and Josie Curry of Los Angeles, Calif.; 25 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; and 10 great great grandchildren.
Services were held Friday, October 18, at Bethel A.M.E. Church with Rev. Daniel L. Flemmons officiating. Burial was in Rose Hedge cemetery under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home of Arkadelphia.

Patricia Niemeyer
Patricia Jean Niemeyer, 63, of Prescott died Tuesday, October 15, 1996, in Prescott.
Born March 6, 1933, in Gurdon, she was a Baptist and the widow of Charles Niemeyer.
Survivors include one son, Steven Wayne Niemeyer of Prescott; one daughter, Rose Marie Ruth of Walls, Miss.; one brother, Billy Clark of Dallas, Texas; one step daughter, Margie Clement of Thibaudaux, La.; eight grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
Services were held Thursday, October 17, at the Shackelford Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Jerry Westmoreland officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Ridge cemetery near Prescott under the direction of Shackelford Funeral Home of Prescott.

Howard Rhodes
Howard Rhodes, 71, of Caney died Monday, November 11, 1996, at his home after a lengthy illness.
Born on October 28, 1925, he was the son of Albert and Letha Rhodes. He was a self-employed farmer, a member of Morris Baptist Church, a mason and a World War II veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Rhodes of Caney; three sons, Ellis Rhodes of Laneburg, Mike Rhodes of North Little Rock and Bill Rhodes of Caney; one sister, Helen Jordan of Prescott; and six grandchildren.
Services were held Wednesday, November 13, at Morris Baptist Church with Rev. Junior Loe and Rev. Raymond Hicks officiating. Burial was in Caney cemetery under the direction of Brazzel-Cornish Funeral Home of Prescott.

Jakie McKinnon
Jakie McKinnon, 45, of Prescott was killed near his deer camp on Saturday, November 9, 1996.
He was a member of Central Baptist Church, and a neighborhood volunteer for the American Cancer Society. He was an employee of Union Pacific Railroad and a membr of Brotherhood Maintainance Way Lodge 1127.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey McKinnon, who died in 1959, and Clyda Brown McKinnon, who died in 1994.
Survivors include two daughters, Mandy Harris of Prescott and Holly McKinnon of Emmet; one son, Cody McKinnon of Walls, Miss.; three sisters, Mary Cottingham, Judy Martin and Joan Barton, all of Prescott; two brothers, Thomas McKinnon and Ralph McKinnon, both of Prescott; a special firend, Kandy Palmer of Amity; and two grandchildren.
Services were held Thursday, November 14, at Central Baptist Church in Prescott. Burial was in Pleasant Hill cemetery near Prescott under the direction of Shackelford Funeral Home of Prescott. Memorials may be made to: Pleasant Hill cemetery Fund, Prescott Flowers and Gifts.

Sally Mae Armstrong
Sally Mae Armstrong, 71, of Prescott died Monday, November 18, 1996, in St. Michael Health Care Center in Texarkana, Texas.
Born November 9, 1925, in Prescott, she was the daughter of George and Beulah Hale. She was a computer supervisor with San Bernardino County in California, a Baptist and the widow of William Armstrong.
Survivors include two sons, William Bernard Armstrong of San Bernardino and Charles Nevin Armstrong of San Jose, Calif.; one brother, Joseph Hale of Little Rock; three sisters, Aristene Young and Georgia Stephens, both of Chicago, Ill., and Ora Wiley of Prescott; and four grandchildren.
Services were held Saturday, November 23, at Macedonia Baptist Church at Boughton with Rev. Elizie Young officiating. Burial was in Washington Hill cemetery under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home of Arkadelphia.

Howard Wilson
Howard Duane Wilson, 56, of Prescott died Wednesday, December 25, 1996, at Columbia Medical Park hospital in Hope.
Born December 5, 1940, in Cash, Texas, he was retired from the United Parcel Service. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Evlyn Gauthier Wilson of Prescott; two sons, Robert Wilson of Richardson, Texas, and Joe Wilson of Dallas, Texas; and two grandchildren.
Services were held Friday, December 27, at Brazzel-Cornish Funeral Home chapel in Prescott with Rev. Neal Ridling and Bro. Jerry Wilson officiating. Burial was in Laneburg cemetery under the direction of Brazzel-Cornish Funeral Home of Prescott.

Beatrice M. Jackson
Beatrice M. Jackson, 70, of Camden died Tuesday, December 24, 1996, at Ouachita County Medical Center in Camden.
Mrs. Jackson was retired from General Dynamics. She was a member of Hillside Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Edward Jackson of Camden; three sons, Eddie Jackson of Prescott, Joe Jackson of Rockwall, Texas, and Tommy Jackson of Camden; two daughters, Patty Jackson and Belinda Jones, both of Camden; two brothers, Vernon Morris of Camden and W.B. Morris of Little Rock; four sisters, Hattie Renfro, Myrtice Nowlen, Betty Germann and Cola Mae Starnes, all of Camden; six grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
Services were held Thursday, December 26, at Proctor Funeral Home chapel in Camden. Burial was in Memorial Park cemetery under the direction of Proctor Funeral Home.
