Dr. Garland Fielding Garrett
Garland Fielding Garrett, M.D., 92, of Los Angeles, Calif., formerly of Prescott, died March 28, 1997.
Dr. Garrett was born September 11, 1904, in Nevada County to Tom and Laura Fielding Garrett. He was a retired doctor.
Survivors include his wife, Jane Garrett of Los Angeles; one son, Frank Garrett of Encinipas, Calif.; five daughters, Elaine Colbern of Oxnard, Calif., Betty Wygant of Saratoga, Calif., and Debra Garrett, Judy Held and Christene Garrett all of California; one sister, Elizabeth Murrah of Sutton; and other relatives.
A memorial graveside service was held Sunday, October 12, at Harmony cemetery with Rev. Gerald Palmer officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Brazzel-Cornish Funeral Home of Prescott.
J.D. McKamie
J.D. McKamie, 66, of Hope died Saturday, October 11, 1997, at his home.
Mr. McKamie was born March 21, 1931, in Hot Springs. He was a retired heavy equipment operator for Bobo and Bain Construction Company. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lee Gipson, in 1976 and by a son, Randal D. McKamie, in 1962.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Paul Edens of Hensley; two sons and daughters-in-law, Douglas and Pat McKamie of Hope and Kenneth Dean and Sheila McKamie of Ft. Smith; one stepson, Jimmy Baker of Prescott; four stepdaughters, Connie McKamie and Gayle Fowler both of Prescott, Diane Green of Denton, Texas, and Elaine Kidd of Hope; two brothers, Ralph McKamie of Laneburg and Bobby McKamie of Hope; two sisters, Elouise `Mutt' Maxie of Texarkana and Francis Jones; six grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
Funeral services were Wednesday, October 15, at the Herndon Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Oliver McKamie officiating. Burial was in Watercreek cemetery under the direction of Herndon Funeral Home of Hope.
Jack Lester McBrayer
Jack Lester McBrayer, 77, of Nashville, Tenn., formerly of Prescott, died Monday, October 13, 1997, at his home.
Mr. McBrayer was born February 11, 1920, to Glaze Alexander McBrayer and Netie Conatser McBrayer. He was retired from Whirlpool Corporation. He was a member of Bellevue Church of Christ in Nashville. He was a U.S. Army World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Obera McBrayer of Nashville, Tenn.; two sons, Larry Don McBrayer of Smith, Ala. and Richard McBrayer of Nashville, Tenn.; one daughter, Martha Ledbetter of Pearl, Miss.; one sister, Esther Jordan of Hope; seven grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be Thursday, October 16, at 10:00 a.m. at Harris cemetery in McCaskill with John Alan Ross officiating. Arrangements will be under the direction of Brazzel-Cornish Funeral Home of Prescott.
Martha Stephens
Martha Jeannette Stephens, 70, of Hope died Monday, June 2, 1997, at Columbia Medical Park Hospital in Hope.
Born October 25, 1926, in Antoine, she was a housewife and a member of Antoine Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Stephens.
Survivors include three daughters, Jane Campbell of Emmet, Bobbie McCain of Magnolia and Marcene Linzy of Hope; four brothers, Clint Price of Hot Springs, Tom Price of Jonesboro, Charles Price and Cedric Price of Antoine; four sister, Betty Brown of Leesville, La., Inez Cornish of Antoine, Charlene Jackson of Arkadelphia and Barbara Jackson of Dalark; six grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, June 4, at Friendship cemetery in McCaskill with Rev. I.J. McKamie officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Brazzel-Oakcrest Chapel Funeral Home of Hope.
Annie Jean McCulley
Annie Jean McCulley, 69, of Prescott died Thursday, June 5, 1997, at St. Michael Hospital in Texarkana, Texas.
Born September 10, 1927, in Crane, Texas, to the late Clarence Edgar and Jewell Anne Holloway Taylor, she was a homemaker and mother, and a member of Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charley McCulley, and a daughter, Linda Pauline McCulley.
Survivors include five daughters, Dora Ann McCulley of Prescott, Dorothy Joyce of DeKalb, Texas, Dovie Sue Hamrick of Hope, Donna Kay Lemons of Texarkana, Texas, and Doris Diane Black of Norman; one brother, Bob Taylor of Tulsa, Okla.; two sisters, Vivian Roberts of LaGrange, Texas, and Bonnie Fitzsimmons of Overguard, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
Services were held Saturday, June 7, at Brazze/Cornish Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Pisgah cemetery in Delight. Revs. Ronnie Hardin and Micah Mauldin officiated. Arrangements were under the direction of Brazzel-Cornish Funeral Home of Prescott.
Phronia A. Barham
Phronia A. Barham, 95, of Emmet died Thursday, June 5, 1997, at Pinehope Nursing Home in Hope.
Born October 11, 1901, to Henry and Exa Gibbons Arterbury in Nevada County, she was a homemaker and a mother, and a member of Forest Hills Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, John T. Barham, and two sons, Herman Barham and Lamon Huey Barham.
Survivors include one son, John William Barham of Emmet; three daughters, Mrs. Neoma Ward and Mrs. Vivian Alford, both of Hope and Mrs. Rosa Nell Whatley of DeAnn; five grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and seven great great grandchildren.
Services were held Saturday, June 7, at Brazzel-Oakcrest Chapel in Hope. Burial was in Forrest Hill cemetery in Nevada County. Revs. Milton Langston, Ricky Burke and Rodney Langston officiated. Arrangements were under the direction of Brazzel-Oakcrest Chapel Funeral Home.
Judson Rupert Shipp
Judson Rupert `J.R.' Shipp, 90, of Prescott died Friday, June 6, 1997.
Born July 11, 1906, in Alba, Texas, he was a retired florist and former owner of Prescott Flowers.
Survivors include his wife, Lois Fagan Shipp of Prescott; one son, Judson Reid Shipp of League City, Texas; one brother, Bill Jule Shipp of Mineola, Texas; one sister, Juddie Custis of Houston, Texas; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held Saturday, June 7, in Quitman, Texas, at the Quitman cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Shackelford Funeral Home of Prescott.
Arlis Gilbert Niemeyer
Arlis Gilbert Niemeyer, 66, of Cave City, formerly of Prescott, died Thursday, June 5, 1997, at his home.
Born November 28, 1930, in Prescott, he was the son of the late Fred and Bonnie Crow Niemeyer of Prescott, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, a retired commercial printer for Riverside Graphics in Batesville and a protestant. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Freddie Niemeyer.
Survivors include his wife, Bettie Niemeyer of Cave City; two sons, Gilbert Niemeyer of Witchita, Kan., and Randall Niemeyer of Cave City; one daughter, Terri Glaze of Judsonia; eleven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services and burial were held Sunday, June 8, at Pleasant Ridge cemetery near Prescott with Ted Stivers officiating. Burial was under the direction of Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
Jerry Wayne Honeycutt
Jerry Wayne Honeycutt, 52, of Hope, died Sunday, June 8, 1997, at St. Joseph's Regional Health Center in Hot Springs.
He was born in Hope on June 8, 1945, to J.W. and Eddine Musgrove Honeycutt. He was a paramedic for Hempstead County Ambulnace Service of Hope. He was preceded in death by one son, Jerry Wayne `Jay' Honeycutt Jr.
Survivors include his wife: Carol Honeycutt of Hope; two sons: John Honeycutt of Germany and Jacob Honeycutt of Florida; four daughters: Robin Parker of Maysville, N.C., June Hamilton of Bodcaw, Ann Mead of Schenectady, N.Y., and one brother: Richard Gene Honeycutt of Baytown, Texas; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Funeral services will be Thursday, June 12, at 2:00 p.m., at Brazzel-Oakcrest Chapel in Hope with Rev. D.D. Fairchild officiating.
Burial will be in Friendship cemetery at McCaskill under the direction of Brazzel-Oakcrest Chapel Funeral Home.
Rev. T.C. Pearson
Rev. T.C. Pearson, 68, of Prescott died June 3, 1997.
Born December 1, 1926, he was the son of the late Gladys and Joshua Person. He was reared by the late Wilson and Helen Martin in the Oak Grove community. A Baptist, he was pastor of Sweet Home Baptist Church near Prescott. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jarva Mae Martin Pearson. In 1996 he married
Doris Todd.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Todd Pearson of Prescott; four sons, Torrence Clyde Pearson of Hawaii, Lee Andrew Pearson of Magnolia, Ronald Edward Pearson of Willisville and Leonard Ray Pearson of Curtis; two daughters, Celia Y. Pearson of Prescott and Velma D. Ingram of Waterloo; three brothers, Earl Pearson of Bradley, Joe Louis Washington of Houston, Texas and Richard E. Washington of South Carolina; four sisters, Arlean Hawthrone, Bettie Watts and Murlean Williams of Houston, Texas, and Dorthy Manning of Aurora, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 7, at Mt. Ephesus Baptist Church on Moores Highway near Prescott. Arangements were by Smith Funeral Home. Interment was in Sweet Home cemetery.
Jerry Red Faulkner
Jerry `Red' Faulkner, 84, of Emmet died Tuesday, July 15, 1997, at his residence.
He was born May 29, 1913, to Charles C. and Dora (Wake) Faulkner. He was a farmer.
Survivors include two sisters, Nobie Faulkner of Emmet and Odell Whitley of Hope; several nieces and nephews and two special nephews, who he raised, Floyd Polluck of Murfreesboro and Lloyd Polluck of Little Rock.
Services were Thursday, July 17, in Herndon Chapel in Hope with Rev. Bruce Smitson and Rev. Jerry Ebsen officiating. Burial was in Snell cemetery in Emmet under the direction of Herndon Funeral Home.
Elsie Lee McKissack
Elsie Lee McKissack, 87, of Prescott died Wednesday, July 16, 1997, at Nashville Nursing Center in Nashville.
She was born July 27, 1909, in Mt.Ida, to Henry K. and Jencie E. Plyler Walters. She was a retired employee of Redland Farms and a homemaker. She was a member of Midway United Methodist Church near Prescott.
Survivors include two daughters, Sue Rogers of San Antonio, Texas, and Barbara Powell of New Hope; two sisters, Mary Jane Miller of Prescott and Pauline Pearson of Prescott; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Ruth Walters of Pine Bluff; seven grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral services were Friday, July 18, at Midway United Methodist Church in Prescott with Rev. Dale McKinney officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Brazzel-Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott.
Ovie Parmer
Ovie Parmer, 81, of Emmet died Thursday, July 17, 1997, at Columbia Medical Park Hospital in Hope.
She was born on October 31, 1915, to J.D. and Martha Crain Shaw. She was a homemaker and a member of Southside Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Joe Stephens and his wife, Nita, of Emmet; one daughter, Onie Morris of Nashville; four sisters, Onie Lee of Hope, Etha Mae Pennington of Murfreesboro, Agnes Nix of Lockesburg, and Inez Lee of Hope; eleven grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Saturday, July 19, at Brazzel-Oakcrest Chapel in Hope. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery in Hope. Arrangements were under the direction of Brazzel-Oakcrest Chapel Funeral Home of Hope.
