Wilmer Page Jr., 40, of Rosston died Thursday, July 17, 1997, in Medical Park Hospital in Hope.
Survivors are one son, Fredrick Page of Prescott; four daughters, Jennifer Page, Kneidria Page, Kristian Page and Kiera Page all of Prescott; his father, Wilmer Page of Rosston; two brothers, Louis and Willie Page of Bluff City; five sisters, Marie Johnson of Little Rock, Hedy Nolen of Milwaukee, Wisc., Joyce Hawthorne of Auora, Colo., Joyce Banks of Reader and Sherry Williams of Kansas City, Mo.; one grandson; and three uncles and two aunts.
Arrangements are incomplete at this time. The body is at Henderson's Funeral Service in Magnolia.
Helen Doris Garner
Helen Doris Garner, 73, of Reader, formerly of Channelview, Texas, died Friday, July 18, 1997.
She was born July 5, 1924, in San Antonia, Texas, to Judge Wiley and Viola Lois Langston.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas C. Garner of Austin, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara Ann and Dwight Toland of Spring, Texas; granddaughters, Kristina, Diana, Alisha and Amanda Toland all of Spring, Texas.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 22, at the San Jacinto Funeral Home Chapel in San Jacinto, Texas. Burial was in San Jacinto cemetery under the direction of Horne Funeral Home of Gurdon.
Lois M. Cash
Lois M. Cash, 85, of Perrytown (and Tyler, Texas) died Tuesday, July 15, 1997, at a nursing home in Tyler.
She was born in Prescott on October 12, 1911. She was a saleslady and a member of the Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Mildred Juanita Link of Tyler; two brothers, Kay Phillips of Tucson, Ariz., and Ray Phillips of Ajo, Ariz.; one sister, Wilma Warner of Tyler; three grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were Saturday, July 19, at Friendship cemetery in Blevins with Rev. Paul Choate officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Brazzel-Oakcrest Chapel Funeral Home of Hope.
Eloise Hamilton Hale
Eloise Hamilton Hale, 67, died Sunday, June 29, 1997, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, Texas.
She was born August 14, 1929, in Nevada County to Jeff and Corrie Hamilton. She was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or Lou Gehrig's disease, in 1994. In the three years which followed, she continued to live her life as she always had, demonstrating quiet strength, deep faith, great humor and limitless love to her family.
She is survived by her husband, Ralph Hale Jr. of Vidor, Texas; her mother, Corrie Holt of Hope; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Peggy Hale of Mauriceville; son and daughter-in-law Greg and Susan Hale of Beaumont; granddaughters Aimee Hale and Corrie Hale of Mauriceville and Katharine Hale of Beaumont; grandsons Beau Hale of Mauriceville and Baryan Hale of Beaumont; her aunt, Lois Glanton of Hope, sister Joyce Booker of Emmet, sister and brother-in-law Ann and Leon Collier of Carlsbad, N.M.; brother and sister-in-law Bob and Betty Hale of Hot Springs; brother and sister-in-law Frank and Louise Hale of Emmet; sister-in-law Frances Harris of Prescott and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service for the immediate family was conducted by Greg Gilbreath on June 30 at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. Memorials may be directed to the Muscular Dystrophy Association-ALS Research.
Jessie Haynie
Jessie Haynie, 70, of Prescott died Monday, September 22, 1997, at Columbia Medical Park Hospital in Hope.
Mr. Haynie was born May 12, 1917, in Bluff City to Willie and Pallie Ingram Haynie. He was a retired truck driver with Potlatch. He was a member of St. John's Baptist Church in Bluff City. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Finis Haynie.
Survivors include his wife, Irene Young Haynie of Prescott; seven sons, Jessie R. Haynie, Tommy Lee Haynie and Willis Lee Haynie of Omaha, Neb., Carl Lee Haynie of Fort Worth, Texas, Kenneth Van Hook of Los Angeles, Calif., Randolph Van Hook of Prescott and Dwight Hayes of Little Rock; eight daughters, Orene Osler of Menifee, Patsy Ruth Taylor of Prescott, Rose Mae Shipps of Omaha, Linda Faye Stewart of McCaskill, Carolyn Hayden of Houston, Texas, Edith Hayes of Prescott, Nancy Barnes of Little Rock and Phillis Felley of Prescott; one brother, Charlie Haynie of Waterloo; and 41 grandchildren.
Funeral services were Saturday, September 17, at St. John's Baptist Church in Bluff City with Rev. Wallace Ingram officiating. Burial was in St. John's cemetery under the direction of Brazzel-Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott.
Watson Ward
Watson Ward, 86, of Prescott died September 17, 1997, in Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock.
Mr. Ward was born February 21, 1911. He was preceded in death by his parents, James L. and Mattie Zorah Vaughn Ward, six brothers, Dennis, Phillip, Curtis, Roy, Sid and Ollie, three sisters, Ethel Pye, Agnes White and Eve Nichols, and his wife, Winnie Dale Ursery Ward, (1956). His father was school director for northern Nevada County. A lifetime resident of Nevada and Hempstead counties, Mr. Ward was a retired dairy, beef and poultry farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Ward of Prescott; one son and daughter-in-law, Dale T. and Ruth Ward of Prescott; one daughter and son-in-law, Bobbie and Jim Miner of Prescott; four grandchildren, Kit Miner, Kaye Roser and Ned and Nicky Ward; seven great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Saturday, September 20, at First United Methodist Church in Prescott with Revs. Jim Lenderman and Jerry Westmoreland officiating. Burial was in DeAnn cemetery under the direction of Shackelford Funeral Home of Prescott.
Henrietta Armstrong
Henrietta Armstrong, 95, of Prescott died Monday, September 22, 1997, in the home of her niece and her husband, Patricia and David Kirkham, where she has lived for 14 years.
Mrs. Armstrong was born on November 27, 1901 in Houston, Texas. She was a retired clerk for Western Union. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Glenn Armstrong, in 1980. If her husband was still alive, they would have celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary on September 22.
Survivors include two nieces, Ruth Thompson and Margret Pyle; great nephews and nieces, Patricia and David Kirkham, David Thompson, Daniel Thompson, Donald Thompson, Stephen Pyle, Gary Pyle, Julia Taylor, Earlene Pyle and Becky Pyle, Texas; and a host of great, great and great, great, great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Wednesday, September 24, in Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services and burial were in Amarillo, Texas, Friday, September 26, at Llano cemetery under the direction of Griggs and Sons Funeral Home.
Alyne Bryson
Alyne B. Bryson, 90, formerly of Prescott, died Monday, September 22, 1997, in Toms River, N.J., at her home.
Mrs. Bryson was born September 12, 1997, in Santa Anna, Texas, to Arthur and Moota Babb. She was a homemaker and a member of First Christian Church of Prescott, where she served as organist for 19 years. She was a member of Prescott Garden Club, Prescott Music Group, B&PW; Club and the Christian Womens Fellowship.
Survivors include one daughter, Sara Walker of Toms River, and two grandsons.
Graveside services were Sunday, September 28, at Memory Gardens cemetery in Hope with Rev. Jerry Westmoreland officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Brazzel-Cornish Funeral Home of Prescott.
Ruth L. Crews
Ruth L. Crews, 73, of Delight died Monday, September 22, 1997, at a Prescott rehabilitation center.
Mrs. Crews was born February 24, 1924, in Delight to the late John W. and Lydia L. Sutton Doss. She was a member of Central Christian Church, the Order of the Easter Star and American Cancer Society. She was a former employee of the poultry industry.
Survivors include her husband, Sammie M. Crews of Delight; two sons, Tommy R. Belasco of Hope and Johnny L. Belasco of North Little Rock; one brother, John Raymond Doss of Delight; two sisters, Cora Roberts of Magnolia and Dalphene Kelly of Delight; eight grandchildren, six great grandchilden and a number of nephews nad nieces.
Funeral services were Thursday, September 25, at First Assembly of God Church in Delight with Rev. L.B. French officiating. Burial was in Delight cemetery under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home of Murfreesboro. Memorial may be made to American Cancer Society, c/o Mrs. Ray Sain, P.O. Box 99, Nashville, AR 71852.
Helen Rae Barham Martin
Helen Rae Barham Martin, 76, of Little Rock, formerly of Prescott, died Sunday, September 21, 1997.
She was a homemaker and a long time member of Temple Baptist Church in Little Rock. She was preceded in death by her parernts, Rev. Cris and Ola Barham, a brother, M.C. Barham, and a sister, Aline Burley, all of Prescott.
Survivors include her husband of 49 years, John E. Martin; a daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Don Jones of Little Rock; five stepchildren; 18 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; one great great grandchildren; one sister, Ida Mae Rawlins of Little Rock; and one brother, Harvey Barham of Duncanvill, Texas.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 24, at Temple Baptist Church in Little Rock with Pastor Martin Jameson and Dr. Brad Hoshaw officiating. Burial was in Pinecrest cemetery at Alexander.
Otis Aubrey Askew
Otis Aubarey Askew, 67, of Prescott died Tuesday, August 5, 1997, at the veterans hospital in Little Rock.
He was born April 8, 1930, at Rosston. He was a member of Union Baptist Church at Bodcaw, a veteran of the Korean War and a member of the VFW and DAV in Prescott.
Survivors include his wife, Rosie Askew of Prescott; one son, Mike Askew of Hope; one daughter, Kathy Stern of Odessa, Wash.; one brother, Rufus Askew of Blevins; one sister Exie Richardson of Laneburg; five grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
Funeral services were Saturday, August 9, at Union Baptist Church at Bodcaw with Rev. David Cook officiating with burial in Union cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home of Stamps.
William Coy Nolen
William Coy Nolen, 79, formerly of Blevins, passed away Tuesday, August 5, 1997, in Dardanelle.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Elizabeth Bostick Nolen, who died in 1991.
Survivors include his son, William Coy Nolen II of Casper, Wyo.; two daughters, Nancy Elizabeth Golden of Dardanelle and Rebecca Ross Dean of San Antonio, Texas; three sisters, Alice Ward and Dot Bonds both of Hot Springs and Imogene Royston of Hope; six grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
Services were Saturday, August 9, at Bethel Baptist Church with Harold Presley and Bill Christian officiating. Burial was in Bethel cemetery under the direction of Shackelford Funeral Home of Prescott.
