Brooksie Dell Hearnsberger
Brooksie Dell Benson Hearnsberger, 74, of Prescott died July 22, 1998, at UAMS in Little Rock.
Mrs. Hearnsberger was born August 27, 1923, the daughter of the late Alec and Donnie Sublet Benson. She was a housewife, a Baptist and the widow of Clyde Hearnsberger.
Survivors include two sons, Derrell Hearnsberger of Arkadelphia and Ronnie Hearnsberger of Prescott; two daughters, JoAnn Bishop and Glenda Ciaccio both of Little Rock; one brother, Arthur Benson of Gurdon; nine grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services were Friday, July 24, at the Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home Chapel. Interment was in DeAnn cemetery at Prescott.
Melissa Ann Haynie
Melissa Ann Haynie, 34, of Cave Springs died Thursday, August 13, 1998, at her home.
Mrs. Haynie was born April 4, 1964, in Arkadelphia. She was a painter and a member of Good Faith United Methodist Church at Watson Chapel.
Survivors include two sons, Jay Pitts and Joey Garrison both of Cave Springs; father, James Haynie of Magnolia; mother, Dorothy Parham of Pine Bluff; two sisters, Kim McCarty and Doll Addison both of Pine Bluff; grandparents, Mrs. Glendene Haynie of Prescott and the late Thurman Haynie of Prescott, Mr. and and Mrs. Reece Parham of Fordyce; two nieces, Mandy McCarty and Emily Addison both Pine Bluff; four uncles and two aunts; and many cousins.
Funeral services were Thursday, August 20, at Temperance Hill Methodist Church near Fordyce with Rev. Siegfried Johnson and Rev. Chuck Coffelt officiating. Burial was in Temperance Hill cemetery under the direction of Benton Funeral Home of Fordyce.
Brodie Knight
Brodie Knight, 85, of Bluff City died Friday, August 21, 1998, at Medical Park Hospital.
Mrs. Knight was born March 17, 1913, in Theo to Henry Kirk and Beulah Kirk. She was a housewife. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert N. Knight, in 1993.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Robert Lyndell and Wilda Knight of Lewisville; one daughter and son-in-law, Betty Jean and Bryant Hunt of Prescott; three brothers, Duncan Kirk of Comanche, Texas, Dennis Kirk of Camden and Shirley Kirk of Cale; two sisters, Evelyn Martindale of Prescott and Chatherine Porterfield of Chidester; two grandchildren; two great grandchildren; eight step grandchildren; and 18 step great grandchildren.
Funeral services were Monday, August 24, at Bluff City Baptist Church with Rev. Fincher Knight and Rev. Donald Coon officiating. Burial was in Bluff City cemetery under the direction of Shackelford Funeral Home of Prescott.
Lois Brown
Lois Pauline Brown of Prescott, 68, died Sunday, September 6, 1998.
Mrs. Brown was born in Texarkana, Texas, to Paul and Ada Philyaw Jackson. She was a homemaker and a farm laborer. Mrs. Brown was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church, WMA.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, John Paul Hardy of Odessa, Texas, Jerry and Linda Hardy of Little Rock and Glenn and Julie Hardy of Prescott; one daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Edward Woods of Hope; one brother, Elmer Jackson of Prescott; seven sisters, Mary Gean Hickman of Grand Bay, Ala.; Pee Wee Zimmer of Blevins; Betty Sue Britz of Odessa, Texas; Mattie Sue Pilgram of El Paso, Texas, Sarah Lemiuex of Morden, Canada, and Alice Owens and Debbie Stuart of Nashville; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Tuesday, September 8, at Union Grove Baptist Church with Bro. Ricky Burke, Bro. Jerry Evans and Bro. Frankie Burke officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Shackelford Funeral Home of Prescott. Memorials may be made to Union Grove Baptist Church.
Clemon Clifton Butler
Clemon Clifton Butler, 73, of Prescott died Tuesday, October 20, 1998, in Texarkana, Texas.
Mr. Butler was born February 15, 1925, in Waldo to Marion Butler and Dixie Butler. He was owner of Clem's D-X Service Station before retirement and was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gertie King Butler in 1989.
Survivors include three stepsons, Herchel Beard of Prescott, Bobby Beard of Hope and James Beard of Alexander; three stepdaughters, Faye Daniels and Louise Kisner both of Prescott and Mary Cardenas of Sulphur, La.; two brothers, Cecil Butler of Benton and Pee Wee Butler of Camden; one sister, Jean Butler of Prescott; 13 step grandchildren; and 14 step great grandchildren.
Funeral services were Thursday, October 22, at Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Larry Jones officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Hill cemetery under the direction of Shackelford Funeral Home of Prescott.
Luther Jerald Parker
Luther Jerald Parker, 57, of Fordyce died Wednesday, October 21, 1998, at Schumpert Medical Center in Shreveport, La.
Mr. Parker was born February 14, 1941, in Shongaloo, La., to John William and Ava Dick Parker. He was a retired millwright with Georgia Pacific and a member of the Assembly of God Church in Cotton Valley, La.
Survivors include his wife, Henrietta Wicker Parker of Fordyce; one son, Gerald Wayne Parker of Logansport, La.; one daughter, Terri Denice Southall of Thornton; four brothers, Junior Parker and Roderick Parker both of Springhill, La., Huey Parker of Nacogdoches, Texas, and Roy Parker of Minden, La.; one sister, Orene Butcher of Oregon; a special sister-in-law, Janie Hood of Shreveport, La.; and two granddaughters, Shelby Logan Parker and Hattie Michelle Parker.
Funeral services were Friday, October 23, at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. S. Nichols and Rev. O'Neal Milligan officiating. Burial was in Caney cemetery under the direction of Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home of Prescott.
Garland Knight Kirk
Garland Knight Kirk, 76, of Prescott died Wednesday, October 21, 1998, at Hillcrest Care and Rehab Center in Prescott.
Mr. Kirk was born January 4, 1922, to Walter and Mary Knight Kirk in Bluff City. He was a mill worker at Potlatch and served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his loving wife, Ruth Wicker Kirk; one son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy Don and Judy Kirk of Prescott; one daughter, Barbara Owens of Texarkana, Ark.; one brother, Ivy Kirk of Prescott; one sister, Charlene Gammill of Rosston; one granddaughter and her husband, Nacona and Budd Thomas of Texarkana, Ark.; and three great grandchildren, Sam, Tracy and Sierra Thomas all of Texarkana.
Funeral services were Friday, October 23, at Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Larry Jones and Bro. Phil Hull officiating. Burial was in Ebenezer cemetery in Bluff City under the direction of Shackelford Funeral Home.
Dr. Bevely Wayne Jordan
Dr. Bevely Wayne Jordan, 70 of Prescott, died Sunday, October 25, 1998 in Texarkana, Texas.
Dr. Jordan was born on March 10, 1928 in Monticello to Bevely Uriah Jordan and Curtis Chapman Jordan. He was a retired dentist. He owned B.W. Jordan, D.D.S., a member of Rotary, former president of Southwest Arkansas Dental Association and Americal Dental Association and former member of the City Council.
Survivors include is loving wife, Della Boykin Jordan of Prescott; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bev and Sherry Jordan of Prescott and Jeff and Cathy Jordan of Nashville; one daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Ron White of Orange, Texas; two sisters, Floy Wimberly of Little Rock and Minnie Wells of Mena; six grandsons, Richard Hughes, Brent Jordan, Brock Jordan, Brian White, Brady Jordan and Jeffery Jordan and one granddaughter, Erin White.
Funeral services were Tuesday, October 27 at First Baptist Church with Bro. Bill Carpenter officiating. Burial followed in the De Anne cemetery in Prescott under the direction of Shackelford Funeral Home of Prescott.
Arthur D. Loe
Arthur D. Loe, 77, of Fayetteville died Friday, October 23, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville.
Mr. Loe was born October 13, 1921, at Bodcaw, a son of Ben and Edith Baker Loe. He attended Bodcaw Schools, the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and Arizona State University. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Springdale. He had been a former resident of Little Rock for 17 years. He was an accountant and served as chief accountant for National Investors Life Insurance Company of Little Rock for many years. He moved to Phoenix, Ariz., in 1963, when the company established an office there. He later served as vice president of his own company, Investors United Life Insurance Company of Phoenix. Before his retirement he was the accountant in the Arizona Attorney General's office and the State Treasurer's office. He was an avid golfer and gardener.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Hall Loe of Fayetteville; his six brothers, Frank, Herley and Arvis of Camden, Orris of Longview, Texas, Dalton of Prescott, and Hoyle of Birdsboro, Penn.; his sister, Betty Sue McClane of Camden; and several nieces and nephews whom he was very fond of.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 27, in the sanctuary of the First Baptist Church of Springdale with Dr. Ronnie Floyd, Dr. Gil Loe and Rev. Joe Dorman officiating. Burial was in Fairview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Fayetteville. Nephews served as pallbearers with the members of his Bible study class serving as honorary pallbearers.
Jack Sampson
Jack Sampson, 63, died Sunday, October 25, 1998.
Mr. Sampson was born on September 21, 1935, to Lloyd and Lois Sampson in Prescott. He graduated from Cale High School in 1955. Upon graduation he entered the U.S. Air Force and served until 1960. Jack married
Nola Ruth Cinnamon on December 28, 1962. He served God faithfully through the Church of the Nazarene in areas of groundskeeper, usher, board member, teacher and treasurer. Jack was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. His gentle Christian spirit will be missed by many. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Lois Sampson, and his brother, Dale Sampson.
Survivors include his wife, Nola; two children, Rhonda Swanson and husband, Steve, of North Platte, Neb., and Roger Sampson and wife, Michelle, of Oklahoma City, Okla.; four grandchildren, Jake and Carmen Swanson and Kayla and Kristen Sampson; five sisters and two brothers, Bobbie Jean Tuberville and Clyde Sampson of Camden, Linda James and Marilyn Rowland of Bethany, Okla., Charlotte Hoffrage of Arkadelphia, Kathy Pike of Bentonville and Larry Sampson of Magnolia; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Services were held Thursday, October 29, at Chapel Hill Funeral Home. Interment followed at Chapel Hills Memorial Gardens with Bro. Jack Lowe officiating.
Tommy Fred Jones
Tommy Fred Jones, 67, of Malvern died Monday, October 26, 1998, at St. Vincent's in Little Rock.
Mr. Jones was born May 26, 1931, in Harlington, Texas, to Ruben and Minnie Lois Weatherford Jones. He was retired from Mid-State Construction and was a member of the North Main Church of Christ, where he was a deacon. He was also a member of the South Malvern Volunteer Fire Department and had served as a volunteer for the Sheriff's department. He was preceded in death by his father, one sister, Deborah Kay Jones, and a grandchild, Jeremy Huggins.
Survivors include his wife, Velma Brown Jones, to whom he married
on January 26, 1952; four daughters, Dinna Baldovino of Paso Robles, Calif., Donna Birnbaum of Nipoma, Calif., Darlene Johnson of Ashdown and Denise Bryant of Malvern; one son, David Jones of Charleston, Miss.; his mother, Minnie Lois Jones; and six grandchildren, Charles Birnbaum, Mallory and Joshua Heard, Maggie Johnson and Geoffrey and Michael Baldovino.
Funeral services were Wednesday, October 28, at North Main Church of Christ with Harley Sission and Ed Simmons officiating. Graveside services were at Pleasant Hill cemetery near Prescott.
Bro. Milton Langston
Bro Milton Langston, 70, of Emmet died Tuesday, December 1, 1998, at Medical Park Hospital in Hope.
Bro. Langston was born April 3, 1928, in Nevada County to George Franklin and Bertie Hamilton Langston. He was a minister and farmer and a member of Forest Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Langston of Emmet; one son, Billy Joe Langston of Emmet; one brother, Jeff Langston of Hope; two grandchildren, Rodney Langston and Billy Criss Langston both of Emmet; and one great grandchild, Nicholas Joe Langston of Emmet.
Funeral services were Thursday, December 3, at Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home Chapel in Hope with Bro. Arlis East and Bro. C.O. Strong officiating. Burial was in Forest Hill cemetery under the direction of Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home of Hope.
Kenneth Dickerson
Kenneth Wayne Dickerson, 63, of Gurdon, died Thursday.
He was a truck driver of Malcom Logging and a member of Red Springs Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Barbara Currey Dickerson of Gurdon; two sons, Paul and Gary Dickerson both of Gurdon; two daughters, Karla Craig and Patricia Harrison both of Gurdon; one brother, Dewitt Little of Hope; six sisters, Beverly Whitlock of North Little Rock, Judy Bear of Union Point, Ga., Rea Crawford of Hope, Alta Bullock of Pine Bluff, Jessie Mae Middleton of Traskwood, and Sybil Walters of Stephens; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Graveside services were Monday, March 28, at 2 p.m. in Center Ridge cemetery, visitation was Sunday, from 4-6 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home in Gurdon.
