Eunie D. May
Eunie D. (Dougan) May, 82, of Hope died Friday, April 9, 1999, in a Texarkana hospital.
Mrs. May was born December 12, 1918, in Fullbright, Texas, to Robert and Beulah Dougan. She was raised in Nevada County near Emmet. Mrs. May was a member of Central Church of Christ near Hope. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester May, who died December 13, 1998; and two sons, Bill and John May.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Dorothy May and Sherman and Earletta May, all of Hope; two daughters and a son-in-law, Nancy and Shirl McCoy of Ashdown and Sandra May of Hope; a daughter-in-law, Ann Shelton of Texarkan, Ark.; a brother, William Dougan of Fayetteville; one sister, Emma Fomby of Center, Texas; 12 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and one great, great grandchild.
Funeral services were Sunday, April 11, at Hope Church of Christ with Tommy Mounts and Harold Freeman officiating. Burial was in Central cemetery south of Hope under the direction of Herndon Funeral Home of Hope.
Morris Franklin Munn
Morris Franklin Munn, 77, of Prescott died Saturday, April 10, 1999.
Mr. Munn was born April 21, 1921, in Caney to Bynum Franklin Munn and Susan Otwell Munn.
Survivors include one brother, Luke E. Munn of Norman, Okla., one sister, Mary Fore of Prescott and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were Tuesday, April 13, at Morris cemetery at Caney with Luke Munn officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Shackelford Funeral Home of Prescott.
Gladys Frances Lee
Gladys Frances Lee, 86, of Prescott died Saturday, April 10, 1999.
Mrs. Lee was born in Broken Bow, Okla., to Earnest and Ruth Meador Sumners. She was a housewife and a member of the Prescott Church of Christ. Mrs. Lee was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Edward Lee, in 1996 and a sister, Jennie Irene Collier, in 1999.
Survivors include two sisters, Marie Nelson of Portland, Ore., and Floie Mae Stockton of Prescott and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Monday, April 12, at Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Gene Cloer officiating. Burial was at Beard's Chapel under the direction of Shackelford Funeral Home of Prescott.
James Henry Smith
James Henry Smith, 60, of Bodcaw died Saturday, April 10, 1999, at Medical Park Hospital in Hope.
Mr. Smith was born December 27, 1938, in Hamilton, Texas, to Otha Earl Nickels and Louise Buris Smith. He was self-employed home repairman and owner of J.C. Enterprise. Mr. Smith was a member of First United Pentecostal Church of Waldo.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Smith of Bodcaw, two sons, Joseph William Smith of Tyler, Texas, and Shane Paul Smith of Phoenix, Ariz.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Amanda and Rick Olsen of Mans Harbor, N.C., and Peggy and Larry Adams of New Caney, Texas; his mother, Louise Buris Smith of Mexia, Texas; one sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Jack Mendenhall of Pace, Fla.; and twelve grandchildren.
Graveside services were Tuesday, April 13, at Corinth cemetery in Bodcaw with Rev. Mark Hatter and Rev. Billy Russell officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home in Hope. Contributions may be made to Carol E. Smith, Rt. 3, Box 227, Rosston, AR 71858.
Nicholas Cole Jensen
Nicholas Cole Jensen, infant son of Carl John and Brenda Jensen of Rosston, died Thursday, April 8, 1999, in Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock. He was born Thursday in Malvern.
Survivors include his parents, Carl John and Brenda Ann Jenson of Rosston; one brother, Austin Jon Jensen of Rosston; grandparents, Patricia Jenson of Magnolia and Roy and Marlina Capps of Rosston; and great grandparents, H.L. and Virgie Capps of Dierks and JoDean Lippard of Ft. Worth, Texas.
Funeral services were Monday, April 12, at the Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Petie Ward officiating. Burial was in Rosston cemetery under the direction of Shackelford Funeral Home of Prescott.
David Lee Hanning
David Lee Hanning, 61, of Fayetteville died Friday, April 23, 1999.
Mr. Hanning was sales manager for Abilities Unlimited and was a member of University Baptist Church of Fayetteville. His father, Thell G. Hanning, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his mother, Pauline Hanning of Fayetteville; two daughters, Leigh Ellis of Fayetteville and Julia Hanning of Benton; two sons, Doug Hanning of Texarkana, Ark., and John Hanning of New York, N.Y.; and seven grandchildren.

Thomas Godwin
Thomas Godwin, 59, of Prescott died Monday, April 26, 1999, at Christus St. Michael's Health System in Texarkana, Texas.
Mr. Godwin was born February 2, 1940, in Caney to Dallas and Etta Ammons Godwin. He was retired from Potlatch. He was preceded in death by his parents and by one brother, J.T. Godwin, who died in 1998.
Survivors include one sister, Sarah Godwin Pearson of Prescott; three nieces, Kathy Salisbury of Blevins, Linda Avery of Fulton and Pat Cearley of Prescott; and four great nieces, one great nephew and two great great nieces.
Funeral services will be Thursday, April 29, at 10 a.m. in the Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home Chapel in Prescott with Rev. Raymond Hicks officiating. Burial will be in Ebenezer cemetery in Bluff City. Arrangements are under the direction of Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home of Prescott. Family visitation will be Wednesday, April 28, from 6 to 8 p.m. (tonight) at the funeral home.
Mary Evelyn Cooper
Mary Evelyn Cooper, 46, of Emmet died Monday, May 24, 1999 in Nashville.
Mrs. Cooper was born June 16, 1952, in New Orleans, La., to Ralph Sprunk and Evelyn Lee. She was a nurse's aide.
Survivors include one son, Garland Wayne Cooper Jr. of Emmet; three daughters, Tammy Cooper of Nashville, Jeannie Cooper of Marrero, La., and Madeline Cooper of Nashville; her mother, Evelyn Lee of Picayune, Miss., one brother, Ralph Sprunk III of New Orleans; one sister, Dottie Tarver of Louisiana; and 12 grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Thursday, May 27, at Delight cemetery with Rev. Glen Chambers officiating. Burial was under the direction of Herndon Funeral Home of Hope.
Dr. Richard C. Ruble II
Dr. Richard Clark Ruble II, 42, died at his home in Prescott Friday, May 28, 1999.
Dr. Ruble was born at Little Rock on July 21, 1956, the son of Richard Clark and Barbara Hatcher Ruble. He was a graduate of Yellville-Summit High School, the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and UAMS at Little Rock. He was in family practice in Perryville, Fayetteville, and Holiday Island near Eureka Springs prior to his illness. He was a member of the Caducous Club at UAMS and a member of the United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Champ and Beulah Ruble, and his maternal grandfather, Cohin Hatcher.
Survivors include his wife, Mamie Susan Winchester Ruble; two sons, Richard Clark Ruble III and Cohin Lee Ruble all of Prescott; a daughter, Mamie Elizabeth Ruble of Prescott; his parents, Richard and Barbara Ruble of Russellville; three brothers, Russell Ruble of New York, N.Y., and Randall and Rodney Ruble, both of China; one sister, Rebecca Ward of Little Rock; and his maternal grandmother, Lyda Hatcher of Hensley.
Funeral services were Tuesday, June 1, at Holt Memorial Chapel in Harrison with Rev. John Miles II, officiating. Burial was in Maplewood cemetery in Harrison under the direction of Holt Memorial Chapel of Harrison.
Pallbearers were Russell, Randall and Rodney Ruble, Rebecca Ward, Douglas Ward, James Root, Eual Allen and Tony Winchester. Honorary pallbearers were Michael and James Brown, Gary Winchester, Boyce Smith, Candy Deakins, Cindi Koizumi, Hershell Garrett and Donnie Parker.
Memorial contributions may be made to Arkansas Cancer and Research Center at UAMS in Little Rock.
John T. Beard
John T. Beard, 64, of Hope died Sunday, May 30, 1999, at Wadley Regional Medical Center in Texarkana, Texas.
Mr. Beard was born October 11, 1934, in Nevada County to William Frank and Lula Eleanor Hendrix Beard. He was a retired farmer, member of Southside Missionary Baptist Church of Hope and an U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Beard of Hope; three daughters, Barbie Beard Aaron and Sherri Beard Adams both of Hope and Janie Beard Spell of Emmet; one brother, Harold Beard of Hope; five sisters, Eva Elder, Polly Middlebrooks, Thelma Hicks and Lucille Clayton all of Hope and Mae Parks of Texarkana; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 1, at Brazzel-Oakcrest Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dewayne Parish officiating. Burial followed in Nubbin Hill cemetery under the direction of Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home of Hope.
Carrie Jane Duncan
Carrie Jane Duncan, 59, of Grapeland, Texas, died Friday, May 28, 1999, in Crockett, Texas.
Mrs. Duncan was born March 7, 1940, in Boughton to John T. Brown and Nadene Puritt Brown. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her brother, James Carroll Brown; and two grandchildren, Rita Ann Warren and Max Edward Warren.
Survivors includes her husband, Jimmie Duncan of Grapeland, Texas; two sons, Arthur Wayne Warren of Whelen Springs; two stepsons, Jimmie Duncan of Grapeland and Glenn Duncan of Ashdown; her mother, Nadene Brown of Prescott; three brothers, John T. Brown of Texarkana, Ricky Glen Brown of Blevins and Gary Brown of Prescott; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be today, Wednesday, June 2, at 1 p.m. at Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Neal Ridling and Bro. Brett DuPree officiating. Burial will follow in the Piney Grove cemetery under the direction of Shackelford Funeral Home of Prescott.
Robert Allen Erskine
Robert Allen Erskine, 54, of Hot Springs died Saturday, May 29, 1999, in a local hospital.
Mr. Erskine was born November 22, 1944, in Prescott. He was a retired teacher, U.S. Army veteran and a Methodist.
Survivors include one son, Rob Erskine of Hot Springs; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Allen Erskine of Texarkana; one brother, William Michael Erskine of Texarkana; and one sister, Mary Jane Lott of Mt. Pleasant, Texas.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, June 1, at Greenwood cemetery in Hot Springs with Rev. Larry Ferguson officiating. Arrangements were by Gross Funeral Home of Hot Springs.
Wallace Raymond Neece
Wallace Raymond Neece, 78, of Nashville died Thursday, June 3, 1999, in Nashville.
Mr. Neece was born May 25, 1921, in Center Point to the late Alger and Clara Tinsley Neece. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Nashville. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Neece was a graduate of Arkansas State Teachers College (now the University of Central Arkansas), where he received his master's degree. He was school administrator at several different schools, including a teacher at Center Point; a teacher in Springhill as well as a basketball coach. He was also assistant principal in Jacksonville, superintendent at Blevins and principal at Prescott. He was preceded in death by a grandfather, Nikki Turner, in 1993 and a son, Stanley Neece, in 1997.
Survivors include six children, Gloria Copeland, Richard Neece, Jan Harbour and Missy Johnson all of Fort Worth, Texas, Doug Neece of Argyle, Texas, and Tommy Neece of Destin, Fla.; 15 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services were Saturday, June 5, at Nashville Funeral Home with Dr. David Blase and Rev. Kenneth Copeland officiating. Interment was in Center Point cemetery under the direction of Nashville Funeral Home.
