George L. Presley
George L. Presley, 77, of Delight died Sunday, July 18, 1999, at St. Joseph's Regional Health Center in Hot Springs.
Mr. Presley was born December 23, 1921, in Delight to Enos G. and Exie Beard Presley. He was a retired maintenance employee of Poulan, a member and deacon of Antoine Baptist Church and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include one brother, Harold Presley and one sister, Wanda Presley, both of Delight.
Funeral services are Wednesday, July 21, (today) at 2 p.m. at Antoine Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Bloomfield and Rev. Glen Chambers officiating. Burial will be in Antoine cemetery under the direction of Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home of Prescott.

Benny L. Tidwell
Benny L. Tidwell, 47, of Beaumont, Texas, formerly of Nevada County, died Sunday, July 18, 1999.
He was born June 24, 1952. He was a Methodist. He was preceded in death by his mother, Alice Wilson Tidwell.
Survivors include his father, Basel Tidwell of Prescott; his step-mother, Estelle Tidwell of Prescott; three sons, three daughters and one sister.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 26, at 2:30 p.m. at Brandon Mortuary Chapel in Hope with Rev. Ivory Curry officiating. Burial will follow in Rosston under the direction of Brandon Mortuary Funeral Home of Hope.
Visitation will be Saturday, July 25, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the mortuary.

Ercell Ruth Wilson
Ercell Ruth Wilson, 89, of Prescott, formerly of Warren, died Friday, August 20, 1999, at Hillcrest Care and Rehab in Prescott.
Mrs. Wilson was born August 28, 1909, in Bradley County, a daughter of the late John Fred and Mattie Baker Stuart. She was the retired co-owner of Wilson Grocery and a member of First United Methodist Church of Prescott. She married Joseph Morris Wilson in August 1928; he passed away November 18, 1980. She was also preceded in death by a son, Joseph Morris Wilson II.
Survivors include a son, Al Wilson of Prescott; one brother, Dub Stuart of Muskogee, Okla.; two sisters, Dot Caplinger of Hermitage and Una Stansbury of Temple, Texas; three grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, August 22, at Frazer's Funeral Home in Warren with Rev. Jim Lenderman officiating. Janice Sullivan was organist and Dr. Kerry Pennington soloist. Burial was in Oakland cemetery under the direction of Frazer's Funeral Home in Warren. Active pallbearers were Matthew Pennington, Everett Orren, John Henry Harrison, Larry Cox, Dr. Kerry Pennington and Charles Small. Honorary pallbearers were George Stansberry, Fred Greenwood, Ted Greenwood, Jim Stuart, Gale Stuart and Joe Alan Wilson.

Albert Marion Jones
Albert Marion Jones, 68, recently moved to Texarkana from Marietta, Ga., died Sunday, August 22, 1999, in a Texarkana hospital.
Mr. Jones was born August 17, 1931, in Texarkana, Ark. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force and from the federal government. He was a Baptist. Mr. Jones had served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars.
Survivors include his wife, Jonell Jones of Texarkana; one son, Steve Jones of Orange, Calif.; one grandson, Michael Jones of Orange, Calif.; one brother, Jessie Lee Jones of Doddridge; and two sisters, Marie Goston of Texarkana and Murlene Brewer of Hobbs, N. Mex.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 26, at Missionary Grove cemetery near Prescott with Dr. Bill Steeger officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Texarkana Funeral Home of Texarkana, Texas.

Hazel J. Cox
Hazel J. Cox, 87, of Magnolia died, Saturday, August 21, 1999, in Beverly Nursing Home in Searcy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nathan O. Cox.
Mrs. Cox was born March 2, 1912, in Glenville to Guy N. and Lilla Lois (Butcher) Bradshaw. She was a homemaker, a member of Cloverdale Church of Christ in Searcy and former member of Jackson Street Church of Christ in Magnolia.
Survivors include one son, Travis Cox of Searcy; one daugher, Carolyn Barton of San Antonio, Texas; two brothers, Bill Bradshaw of Waldo and Herbert Bradshaw of Shreveport, La.; one sister, Mary Lou Preston of Duncanville, Texas; grandchildren, Holly Ann Adams of San Francisco, Calif., Laura Lee Adams of Dallas, Texas; Jennifer Lynn Adams of Rockledge, Fla., Deborah Lynn Cox Hulgus of Springfield, Mo., Michael Allen Cox of Nixa, Mo., Rebekah Carol Cox of Little Rock and Leah Jan Cox Rogers of Searcy.
Funeral services were Tuesday, August 24, at Lewis Chapel in Waldo with Leon Watson officiating. Burial was in Columbia cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home of Magnolia.

Paul E. Edwards
Paul Edward Edwards, 90, died Monday, August 23, 1999, at Williamsburg Village Nursing Center in DeSoto, Texas, after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Edwards was born September 1, 1908, in Nevada County to William Yancy and Dora Lee Carruthers Edwards. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the 381st Regiment Service Co., 96th Division. Before his retirement as consignee for the Mobil Oil Co. bulk plant in Prescott, he faithfully delivered gasoline to numerous businesses locally and in surrounding counties for 30 years. Mr. Edwards was a member of the Church of Christ in Prescott before moving to DeSoto, where he lived with his daughter and son-in-law until early this year. He especially loved and enjoyed his family, music and the many friends made over the years, never meeting a stranger. He was preceded in death by his former wife, Jewelle Dickerson Edwards; four brothers, Walter, Lon and Fred Edwards; and five sisters, Leola Mann, Emma McDaniel, Lera Williams and Eva Edwards; (twins Louis and Lois Edwards died at birth).
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Bill Scott of DeSoto; one grandson and his wife, Brent and Heather Scott of Grand Prairie, Texas; one granddaughter and her husband, Kim and Robby Gary of Irving, Texas; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Services were Wednesday, August 25, in the Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerry Westmoreland officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Ridge cemetery under the direction of Shackelford Funeral Home of Prescott.

Roy Brown
Roy Brown, 79, of Prescott died Wednesday, August 25, 1999, at St. Michael Medical Center in Texarkana, Texas.
Mr. Brown was born December 6, 1919, in Boughton to John Robert and Octavia Jones Brown. A retired timber buyer, farmer and entrepreneur, Mr. Brown was a member of the Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include his wife, Syble Brown; one son, James Roy Brown of Prescott; two daughters, Johnnie Jo Brown and Judy Allen, both of Prescott; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and 13 great great grandchildren.
Services were Saturday, August 28, at Central Baptist Church in Prescott with Revs. Al Womack, Chad Brandon and Jerry Smith officiating. Burial was in Pine Grove cemetery under the direction of Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home of Prescott. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pine Grove cemetery Association, Mrs. Willie Hooks, Rt. 4, Prescott.

Eliza Randle
Eliza Randle, 82, of Cotton Valley, La., died Saturday, August 21, 1999 in Christus St. Michael Hospital in Texarkana, Texas.
Mrs. Randle was born February 16, 1917, in Cotton Valley to the late Henry and Louise Hawthorne. She was united in holy matrimony on April 25, 1931, to the late John Ester Randle. To this union one child was born. Mrs. Randle united with Valley Peace Baptist Church in Cotton Valley at an early age. She remained a faithful member and served on the usher board until her health failed.
She leaves to cherish precious memories one son and daughter-in-law, J.D. and June Randle; five grandchildren, Jerry Randle (Conse), Russell Randle (Karen), Donald Randle, Sandra Randle, Billy Randle (Sandra) and Mitchell Randle, who preceded her in death; nine step grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 19 step great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; two step great great grandchildren; and many loving nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Services were held Saturday, August 28, at Valley Peace Baptist Church with Rev. Calvin Harris, pastor, officiating. Burial was under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home of Homer, La.

Mary E. Cross
Mary E. Cross, 86, of Rosston died Sunday, August 29, 1999, at Prescott Hillcrest Care and Rehab.
Mrs. Cross was born in Laneburg to Lawrence L. and Lizzie Matthew Glass. Mrs. Cross was a housewife and member of Morris Baptist Church in Caney. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifton A. Cross, in 1993 and one son, Ray D. Cross, in 1995.
Survivors include two sons, Jim Cross and Frank Cross, both of Rosston; three grandchildren, Dana Fincher, Ed Cross and Todd Cross; and six great grandchildren.
Funeral services were Tuesday, August 31, at Mt. Moriah Church with Dick Knott officiating. Burial was in Mt. Moriah cemetery under the direction of Shackelford Funeral Home of Prescott.

Nedra Brint McKelvy
Mrs. Nedra Brint Kent McKelvy, 87, of Hope died Thursday, September 9, 1999, in an automobile accident in Miller County.
Mrs. McKelvy was born April 26, 1912, in Spring Hill to Oscar and Nellie Martin Brint. She was a nurse and worked for J.C. Penney. She was a member of Unity Baptist Church. Mrs. McKelvy taught Sunday school for 45 years. She was a former PTA president, president of Hempstead County Home Demonstration Clubs, 1961 Hempstead County Egg Queen, 4-H Club leader, chapter and state president of Colonial Dames Seventeenth Century, Business and Professional Women member, 1981 Merit Mother of the Year, Farm Bureau District Woman, district president of the Daughters of the American Revolution, president of Garden Clubs Council, AARP member and life member of Hempstead County Historical Society. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lester Kent; one son, Sonny Kent and one daughter, Kay Thornton.
Survivors include one daughter, Helen Rateliff of Hope; two brothers, Fort Brint of Waskom, Texas, and Clyde May of Hope; two sisters, Beatrice Johnson of Rogers and Ina Krieger of Texarkana; six grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Sunday, September 12, at Unity Baptist Church in Hope with Rev. I.V. Hight and Rev. Kenneth Bobo officiating. Burial was in Macedonia cemetery in Patmos under the direction of Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home of Hope.

Henry H. Dixon
Henry H. Dixon, 82, of Rosston died Thursday, September 9, 1999, in Christus St. Michael Hospital in Texarkana, Texas, as the result of an automobile accident.
Mr. Dixon was born February 11, 1917, in Rosston to Joseph Harmon and Nancy Jane Waters Dixon. He was a retired pumper of Reliance Oil Co. and other oil field companies, a member of Rosston Baptist Church and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Whitehead Dixon of Rosston; and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
Funeral services were Saturday, September 11; at Rosston Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Loyd and Rev. Kenneth Ward officiating. Burial was in Rosston cemetery under the direction of Brazzel-Cornish Funeral Home of Prescott.

John Charles Jones
John Charles Jones, 66;.of San Francisco, Calif., formerly of Okolona, died Saturday, September 4, 1999, in a California veterans hospital.
Mr. Jones was born April 9, 1933, in Okolona to Johnny and Willie E. Petus Jones. He was retired from the U.S. Navy and a member of Okolona Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Charles Lavell Jones of Washington; three daughters, Jacquelyn Jones and Pam Jones both of Oakland, Calif., and Catrina Ann Jones of Washington; one brother, Tom N. Jones of Okolona; two sisters, Emma Jean Harrington of Chicago, Ill., and Jean Minniefield of Dallas, Texas; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, September 11, at Okolona First Baptist Church in Okolona with Rev. Eddie Brown officiating. Burial was in Okolona cemetery under the direction of Brazzel-Cornish Funeral Home of Prescott.

Donald W. Womble
Donald W. Womble, 56, of Johnsville, S.C., died Sunday, September 5, 1999, in Florence, S.C., following an extended stay in the hospital with many medical complications.
Mr. Womble was born November 12, 1942, to Owen Knapp (O.K.) Womble and Ruby Inez Wake Womble. He was preceded in death by his mother, father and one brother, Clark Womble.
Survivors include two sons, Donald Womble Jr., and Patrick Womble; sister, Mary Womble White of Pensacola, Fla.; two brothers, John Womble of Snohomish, Wash., and Billy Womble of Prescott; and a special friend, Lena Stone; and other friends in South Carolina and many other family members.
A memorial services was held in South Carolina.
