Eileen E. Gray
Eileen E. Gray, 75, Jonesboro died Wednesday, October 20, 1999, at her residence. She was a native of Corby North Hamptonshire, England, and had lived in Newport before moving to Jonesboro.
While in England, she served in her Majesty Auxiliary Territory Service. She married
Cyrus R. Gray Jr., in England and was one of 1, 100 war brides who arrived in the United States abroad the USS Argentine in 1946. Mrs. Gray worked for the Newport School District and later was employed by Jackson County as a social worker. She lived in Prescott before living in Newport. She was a member of St. Paul Episcopal Church in Newport. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cyrus R. Gray Jr., two brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include one son, John Robert Gray of La Mirada, Calif.; three daughters, Ginny Gray Hanner of Fredricktown, Mo., Linda Gray Cayla of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Brenda Gray Osborn of Jonesboro; three brothers, Ivan Smith, Terry Smith and Brian Smith all of England; seven grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
A memorial service was held Sunday, Oct. 24, at St. Paul Episcopal Church with Rev. John Childress officiating. Burial was private. Those wishing to leave a lasting memorial are asked to consider the Cornea Dysfunctional Research, St. Bernard's Hospice program, or the National Pancreas Foundation. Arrangements were under the direction of Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro.
Glendene Cox Haynie
Glendene Cox Haynie, 84, of Prescott died Wednesday, October 20, 1999.
Mrs. Haynie was born August 12, 1915, in the Redland community to George Cox and Jewel Barham Cox. She was a homemaker, a member of Liberty Church of the Nazarene in the Redland and a member of Redland Extension Homemakers Club. She married
Thurman Haynie in 1931. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thurman Haynie, whom she married
in 1931; her father and mother; one grandson, David Haynie; one granddaughter, Melissa Haynie; one great grandson, Zachery Haynes; and one brother, Barham Cox.
Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, George H. and Gerry Haynie of Hope; James and Merilyn Haynie of Magnolia; Doug and Deanna Haynie of Rogers and Earl and Kay Haynie of Prescott; one daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Delmar Tyree of Prescott; three brothers, Pershing Cox and George N. Cox of Prescott and Charles Cox of Ashdown; two sisters, Hazel Powell of Little Rock and Mary J. Powell of North Little Rock; 18 grandchildren; and 49 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were Saturday, October 23, at Liberty Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Betty Stinson and Vernon Hatton officiating. Burial esd in Liberty cemetery under the direction of Shackelford Funeral Home of Prescott.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Liberty Building Fund.
Nell Dillard Hiett
Nell Dillard Hiett of Bossier City, La., passed away Monday morning, October 25, 1999 at Grace Home, a hospice.
Mrs. Hiett was born November 25, 1921, in Nevada County. She was a member of Waller Baptist Church. She worked at Rubenstein's for over 20 years as a sales lady. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Paul Hiett, in May 1999.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Larry Vick of Lake Worth, Fla.; a brother and sister-in-law, M.I. and Beth Dillard of Bella Vista; and two grandchildren, Kathryn Vick and James Robert Vick.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 28, in the chapel of Hill Crest Funeral Home in Haughton, La., at 11 a.m. with Rev. Lane Moore of Waller Baptist Church and Rev. Tal Webb of Morris Baptist Church officiating. Entombment will follow at Hill Crest Mausoleum in Haughton, a suburb of Bossier City.
Pallbearers will be James Robert Vick, James Larry Vick, Bryan Thomson, Marvin Kendrick, Donald Webb and Couch Daniels.
The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home tonight, Wednesday, Oct. 27, from 6:00 to 8:00.
Josephine H. Bemis
Josephine H. Bemis, 93, of Prescott died Tuesday, November 15, 1999, at her home.
Mrs. Bemis was born September 22, 1906, in Clarendon to Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Hardy. She moved to Prescott at the age of 5. Mrs. Bemis was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Prescott and for many years was secretary to the superintendent of Prescott Schools. She was preceded in death by Leon Carrington and J.H. Bemis.
Survivors include one son, Ralph H. Carrington of Tyler, Texas, daughter and son-in-law, Jo and R.C. Beaver of Little Rock; four grandchildren, Jennifer Carrington of Tyler, Texas, Elizabeth Campos and husband J.C. of Palestine, Texas, Hardey Beaver and wife Carolyn of Baton Rouge, La., and Joe Beaver of Napa, Calif.; four great grandchildren, Rachel and Chris Beaver of Baton Rouge, La., and Polly and Joshua Campos of Palestine, Texas; three stepchildren, James H. Bemis of Fayetteville, Barbara Ann Duke of Midland, Texas, and Mildred Berry of Niobrara, Nebr.
Funeral services were held Friday, November 19, at First Presbyterian Church in Prescott with burial in DeAnn cemetery under the direction of Shackelford Funeral Home of Prescott.
Floyd B. Piercy
Floyd B. Piercy, 86, of Emmet died Saturday, November 20, 1999, at Medical Park Hospital in Hope.
Mr. Piercy was born March 17, 1913, in Sutton to Roger and Sarah Piercy. He was a retired farmer, cattle farmer and public worker and deacon of New Liberty Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Avalue Piercy.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Faye and Logan Hamilton of Hope and Barbara and Tommy Peck of Emmet; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Sunday, November 21, at Herndon Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Elmer Grant and Rev. Buddy McKamie officiating. Burial was in Snell cemetery in Emmet under the direction of Herndon Funeral Home of Hope.
DeWillis Marchello Young
DeWillis Marchello Alphonso Young was taken in Jesus' arms November 16, 1999, in Semmes, Ala.
Chello, as he was so fondly called, was born in Milwaukee, Wis. February 24, 1981, to Sharon William Blevins and Charles Dean Young. He accepted Christ in his life as a young boy at House of Prayer of Deliverance.
Chello attended Prescott High School and Mary G. Montgomery High in Semmes, Ala. He sang in the choir and he played basketball, his love, with great intensity.
He leaves to carry on his life and dreams, his mother and father and Terry Lee Robbins of Milwaukee; his brothers, Terry of Semmes, Ala., Fredrick, Brandon and Akendal of Prescott, and Terrell and Jarvis of Mobile, Ala.; his sisters, Shonda Sorrells, Sharia Todd, Akendra and Angela Allen all of Arkansas; DaShunda and Tiara of Milwaukee, and LaDestiny Payton of Mobile; maternal grandparents, Mattie Richard Walker and Mary Lewis Gulley of Bluff City, and Estela Mixon of Prescott; paternal grandparents, Odie Young of Gurdon, Albert Robbins of Milwaukee, Lillie Blevins and William Duncan of Mobile; several aunts and uncles and special friends.
Burial will be Sat., Nov. 27, at 11 a.m. at the Bluff City cemetery under the direction of Williams Funeral Home of Camden.
Roy E. King
Roy E. King, 83, of Texarkana died Saturday, November 27, 1999, at Wadley Regional Medical Center in Texarkana.
Mr. King was born February 16, 1916, in Waldo to Montroe and Parilee Henshaw King. He was a retired auto mechanic. He was preceded in death by one son, Royce King.
Survivors include two sons, Thomas King and Doug King both of Texarkana; one daughter, Bobbie Murphy of Texarkana; one brother, Raymond King of Marshall, Texas; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were Tuesday, November 30, at Ebeneezer cemetery in Bluff City with Rev. Terry Carlile officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home of Prescott.

James Marcum, Jr.
Mr. James Harold Marcum, Jr., 59, of Hope, died Monday, June 27, 2005, at Christus St. Michael Health System in Texarkana, Texas.
He was born January 16, 1946, in Hope to James Harold Marcum, Sr. and Mary Cordelia Rowe Marcum. He was a retired insurance executive. He was a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his father.
His survivors include three sons, Greg Marcum of Hope, Dr. Shane Marcum of Irving, Texas and Trea Young of Benton; two daughters, Kimberly Renee Marcum of Lubbock, Texas and Sebrina Marcum of Louisville, Ken.; his mother, Cordelia Marcum of Hope; one brother, Mike Marcum of Alexandria, La.; one sister, Evelyn Triplett of Pascagoula, Miss.; six grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Graveside services were at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 30, 2005, at Rose Hill cemetery in Hope with Rev. Larry Silvey officiating. Burial followed. Arrangements by Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home in Hope.

Ruby Mae Harper
Ruby Mae Harper, 86, of Camden died Tuesday, January 4, 2000, at Ouachita County Medical Center.
Mrs. Harper was a member of Red Hill Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Harper, and a brother, Richie 'Jack' Benson.
Survivors include three sons, Herbert Harper of Reader, Bruce Harper of Smackover and James L. Harper of Chidester; three daughters, Jeanell Rogers of Camden and Nelda Calley and Rhonda Robertson, both of Chidester; ten grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were Wed., Jan. 5, at Red Hill Methodist Church with burial in Red Hill cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Proctor Funeral Home, Inc. of Camden.
Charles Ray Stuart
Charles Ray Stuart, 57, of Prescott died Sunday, January 9, 2000, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Hot Springs.
Mr. Stuart was born November 18, 1942, in Prescott to Raymon and Verlie Hendrix Stuart. He was a carpenter and a member of Crawley Hunting Club.
Survivors include his wife, Glenda Trout Stuart of Prescott; one daughter, Kendra Stuart- McCorkle of Prescott; one brother, James 'Jim' Stuart of Prescott; one sister, Evorie Loe of Prescott; and one grandson, Mason Lee McCorkle of Prescott.
Memorial services were held Tuesday, January 11, at Brazzel-Cornish Funeral Home Chapel in Prescott with Rev. Neal Ridling officiating. Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Anna Bell Grayson
Anna Bell Grayson of Gurdon died Tuesday, January 4, 2000.
Mrs. Grayson was the widow of W.T. Clark and was a very active member of Beech Street Baptist Church of Gurdon. She was the daughter of the late Frank Taylor Grayson and Adah McMillion Grayson of Prescott. She was a member of the 1939 graduating class of Prescott High School. Mrs. Grayson was preceded in death by three brothers, Tommy, Jimmy and Mack Grayson, and one sister, Dorothy.
Survivors include two sons, Eddy Clark of Gurdon and Jerry Clark of Benton; two daughters, Judy Neathery of Gurdon and Donna McGee of Perryville; one brother, Otis Paul Grayson of Portland, Ore., and 11 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, January 7, at Beech Street Baptist Church with burial at Cedar Ridge cemetery by Horne Funeral Home of Gurdon.
Lois Elizabeth Glass Pratt
Lois Elizabeth Glass Pratt died Tuesday, January 4, 2000, in Mexia, Texas.
Mrs. Pratt was born August 31, 1922, in Prescott. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Mamie Glass.
Survivors include two daughters, Nadene Sears of Mexia, Texas, and Jean Halliburton of Irving, Texas; one sister, Marjorie Conway of Hope; five grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday, January 6, at Bethel Baptist Church in Irving, Texas. Burial followed in the Oak Grove Memorial Gardens in Irving, Texas, with Rev. Charles Loyd, Rev. David Hutchason and Rev. M.J. Sartain officiating. Pallbearers were Terry Sears, Gary Sears, Les Pratt, Joey Duran, Frankie Conway and Shane Conway. Arrangements were under the direction of Brown's Memorial Funeral Home.
