Zola B. Mitchell
Zola B. Mitchell, 90, from Prescott, formerly of Independence, Mo., passed away from this life on Monday, February 28, 2000, at Hillcrest Care and Rehab.
Mrs. Mitchell was born on November 14, 1909, in Albany, Mo. She was the wife of Victor G. Mitchell for 62 years. He preceded her in death. They had three children, Bob Mitchell of Lexington, Mo., Vic Mitchell of Lee's Summit, Mo., and Janet Martindale of Prescott.
She was a lifetime member of the Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed participating in the Senior Citizen's Center in Prescott. Everyone who knew her up until her death, knew she had a great sense of humor and enjoyed making people smile. She ill be missed.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 4, in Independence, Mo., with burial at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens in Independence.

Scott Andrew Graham
Scott Andrew Graham, 20, of Prescott died Sunday, March 26, 2000.
Scott was born in Prescott on November 14, 1979. He was a graduate of Prescott High School and a former Curley Wolf football and basketball player. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed all outdoor activities. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Prescott and was employed at Scroll Technologies in Gum Springs. Scott will be lovingly remembered by many friends and family. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Adrian Brackman and H.H. Graham.
Survivors include his parents, Linda and Jimmy Graham; one sister, Traci Elizabeth Graham; grandmothers, Flo Reed Brackman and Nola Graham, all of Prescott.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 28, at First United Methodist Church in Prescott under the direction of Shackelford Funeral Home of Prescott with Rev. Jim Lenderman officiating.

Len Godwin
Len Godwin, 66, of Marshall, Texas, died Tuesday, March 21, 2000, in Marshall Manor Nursing Home.
Mr. Godwin was born May 8, 1933, in Nevada County to Olan Leon and Viola Hicks Godwin. He was a graduate of Prescott High School. He married Barbara Jean Tuttle April 5, 1953, in Friendship. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. He was a self-employed contractor. He previously worked for Thiokol Corporation of Karnack, Texas, where he was a guard. Mr. Godwin was a member of Fairview Baptist Church of Marshall. He was a member of Marshall Masonic #22 Lodge AF&AM; and the Aurora Chapter #799 Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Godwin of Marshall; one daughter, Lenda Godwin Turner of Marshall; one son, Rick Godwin of Marshall; a granddaughter, Summer Elaine Turner of Nacogdoches, Texas; a grandson, Trent Turner of Nacogdoches; one sister, Louise Ursery of Kansas City, Mo.; a brother, Leroy Godwin of Prescott; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Friday, March 24, at Travis Street Chapel of the Sullivan Funeral Home of Marshall. Burial was in Colonial Gardens in Marshall under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Randy Spradling, Jim Green, Clifford Boyd, Doug Gardiner, Trent Turner and Harold Summers.

William Allen Stovall
William Allen Stovall, 32, of Hope died Monday, April 10, 2000, at his home.
Mr. Stovall was born December 7, 1967, in Nevada County to William Roy and Carolyn Jackson Stovall. He was a building official with the city of Hope. Mr. Stovall was a member of Spring Hill United Methodist Church. He was a graduate of the Arkansas Police Academy. He was a former police officer of the Texarkana and Hope Police Departments. He was preceded in death by his father.
Survivors include his wife, Krista Townsend Stovall of the home; one son, Lane Stovall of the home; one daughter, Shelby Stovall of the home; his mother, Carolyn Stovall of Prescott; and one brother, David Stovall of Prescott.
Funeral services will be today, Wednesday, April 12, at Brazzel-Oakcrest Funeral Home chapel in Hope with Revs. Wayne Bell, Neal Ridling and Susan Ross officiating, Burial will follow in Mt. Nebo cemetery at Patmos in Hempstead County. Arrangements are under the direction of Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home of Hope.
The family was to receive friends Tuesday, April 11, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Hope.
In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to Hospice of Texarkana, 803 Spruce St., Texarkana, TX 75501.

Gerald Henry Goff
Gerald Henry Goff, 77, of Texarkana died Tuesday, April 25, in a local hospital.
Mr. Goff was born December 2, 1922, in Prescott and had lived in Texarkana, Ark., since 1947. He was a member of Central Christian Church, where he served as an elder and Sunday school teacher. He was retired from American States Insurance Company, formerly Western Insurance Company, and Mannie Stevens Insurance Agency. Mr. Goff was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, having served in World War II. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Julia Ann Goff Nash, and his wife, Juanita Goff.
Survivors include his wife, Edith Hughes Goff of Texarkana; one son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Pam Goff of Texarkana, Ark.; one daughter and son-in-law, Becky and David McClintock of Texarkana, Texas; and eight grandchildren, Jakeb Goff of Conway, Nathan and Dara Goff of Lufkin, Texas; Laci Goff of Texarkana, Ark.; Laura Richardson of Texarkana, Texas; Justin McClintock of Douglas, Kans., Lissa Nash of West Fork, Gus Richardson of Texarkana, Texas, and Will Nash of West Fork.
Funeral services were Friday, April 28, at the Fuqua-Everett Memorial Chapel of the Texarkana Funeral Home with Mark Ions officiating. Burial was in East Memorial Gardens under the direction of Texarkana Funeral Home of Texarkana, Texas.

Claud E. Head
Claud E. Head, 83, of Prescott died Friday, April 28, 2000, at this home.
Mr. Head was born December 28, 1916, in Hempstead County to Richard Absalom and Cora Belle Harmon Head. He was a retired farmer and timber man, a member of Missionary Grove Baptist Church in Nubbin Hill and a member of the AARP. He was preceded in death by his parents and by three brothers, Clarence, Earl and Virgil.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Irene Elizabeth Treas Head, of Prescott; four sons and daughters-in-law, Charles Head and Martha of Slidell, La., Gaylon Head and Alice of Prescott; Dean Head and Carol of Hope and Terry Head and Lisa of Maysville, Ky., four daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn Hill and Bill of Prescott, Kay Schane and Glenn of Flower Mound, Texas, Ann ‘Sam' Hill and Jerry of Delight, and Judy Roberts and Vernon Jr., of Hope; one sister and brother-in-law, Arlene Moses and Gus of Hope; 32 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; and eight great great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives.
Funeral services were held Sunday, April 30, at Missionary Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Jones officiating. Burial was in Nubbin Hill cemetery under the direction of Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home of Prescott.

Dwight Randall Pankey
Dwight Randall Pankey, 68, of Malvern, passed away Wednesday morning, May 17, 2000, at Hot Spring County Medical Center .
Mr. Pankey was born April 3, 1932, at Prescott to Jack Randall and Marie Maddox Pankey. He was reared and educated in Emmet and attended LeTourneau Tech in Longview, Texas. He joined Arkla Gas in 1951, leaving in 1957 to become an Arkansas State Trooper for eight years. He returned to Arkla Gas in 1971, where he retired in 1992 as division corrosion technician. In 1952 he married Freida Marie Hale. Of this union they had three children. They moved to Malvern in 1972. Mr. Pankey was a Mason and of the Catholic faith. He enjoyed working on his yard and creating woodwork in his shop for his family and friends. He loved working with computers and shared this passion with his many friends and family. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Freida Marie Pankey of Malvern; one son and his wife, Madison and Sheila Pankey of New DeRoche; two daughters, Melanie and husband John Conrad of Stuttgart and Randalee Milburn of Malvern; a sister, Barbara Ulvestad of Sand Point, Idaho; six grandchildren, Jason Graham of Stuttgart, Mandi Graham of Little Rock, Brandi Milburn of Malvern and Whitney Walduf, Eric Walduf and Erin Pankey of New DeRoche; and one great grandchild, Adrian ‘Drin' Haggerty Jr. of Malvern.
Graveside services were Saturday, May 20, at Shadowlawn cemetery with Bro. Wesley Howard officiating. Burial was under the direction of Atkinson Funeral Home of Malvern.

Effie Simpson
Effie Sampson, 92, of Arlington, Texas, died Monday, May 15, 2000.
Mrs. Sampson was born to George F. and Christine Whitten on April 6, 1908, in Cale. She was a teacher in Cale, where she met her late husband, James Raymond Sampson. They were married for 42 years before he passed away in 1976. She was awarded a distinguished service award from the Church of the Nazarene in 1998 for 45 years of service to the church. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Ronald Robert Babers. She had a special love for all who knew her and she loved everyone in her own special way.
Survivors include one son, James Sampson of College Station, Texas; four daughters, Joyce McPhail of Giddings, Texas, Mary Babers of Arlington, Texas, Betty Atchlly of Richardson, Texas, and Emily Whatley of Arlington, Texas; ten grandchildren, Kathie Jacobus, Gloria McPhail, Paul McPhail, Rachel Duarte, Angela Whatley, Jay Sampson, Matt Sampson, Darla Whatley, Scott Sampson and Jennifer Sampson; great grandchildren, Ray Jacobus and Kristopher Jacobus; and cousins, Velma White and Iris Freeland.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 19, at First Church of the Nazarene of Arlington, Texas. Burial was in Moore Memorial Gardens in Arlington under the direction of Moore Funeral Home of Arlington.

Guy Chism
Guy Chism, 82, of Hope died Tuesday, May 23, 2000, at Medical Park Hospital in Hope.
Mr. Chism was born December 3, 1917, in Belton to Lindzy and Lillie Mae Flowers Chism. He was a retired carpenter, a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Hope and an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Ola Mae Smyth Chism of Hope; two sons and daughter-in-law, Joe Chism and Pam of Prescott and Don Easterling of Monticello; three daughters, Betty Ashmore and Janice Milburn both of Hope and Pat McBride of Perrytown; daughter-in-law, Marilyn Easterling of Texarkana; one sister, Nannie Mae Stuart of Laneburg; 12 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
Funeral services were held Thursday, May 25, at Brazzel-Oakcrest Funeral Home Chapel in Hope with Rev. Scott Neathery officiating. Burial was in Merrill cemetery in Belton under the direction of Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home of Hope.

Frances Terry
Frances Terry, 70, of Prescott died Tuesday, May 23, 2000, at Hillcrest Care and Rehab in Prescott.
Mrs. Terry was born August 4, 1929, in Hempstead County to Arthur and Lois Brooks Sewell. She was a legal secretary, a Methodist and a member of the Eastern Star. She attended Blevins High School, where she graduated as valedictorian of her senior class. She was a member of the varsity basketball team and an active participant/leader in school activities. She attended Tyler Commercial College. Upon graduation, she was employed by Cotton Belt Railroad of Tyler. She completed 27 years as a legal secretary for R.W. ‘Dudley' Rouse, a local attorney, retiring in 1993. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include one daughter, Nanette Terry Sissney of Whitesboro, Texas; a son-in-law, Dale Sissney of Whitesboro; two sisters, Jean Sewell Stuart of Nashville and Jamye Sewell Barnes of Prescott; two grandchildren, Michael Sissney and John Sissney both of Whitesboro; one niece, Cheri Stuart of Memphis, Tenn.; and one nephew, Jim Barnes of Spring Hill.
Funeral services were held Thursday, May 25, at Brazzel-Cornish Funeral Home Chapel of Prescott with Rev. Neal Ridling officiated. Burial was in Sweet Home cemetery under the direction of Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home of Prescott.

Raymond Elvis Huett
Raymond Elvis Huett, 76, passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2000, at his home in Nevada County.
Mr. Huett was born in Patmos on May 7, 1924, to Hamp and Pearl Turner Huett. He was raised and attended school in Patmos. He served in the U.S. Army 20th Mechanized Armor Division in Europe during World War II. He was a retired inspector of Ethyl Corporation. In 1945 he married Louise Collier of Shover, the daughter of Deward and Allie Collier. Raymond and Louise lived in Oakhaven before moving to Pasadena, Texas, in 1952, where they raised their family. In 1978 they moved back to their farm in Nevada County to retire and to raise cattle, Raymond's lifelong hobby.
Raymond is survived by his wife Louise; two sons, Mike and wife Becky of Prescott, and Ronald and wife Janet of Emmet; five grandchildren, Kimberly and husband, Kevin Grimes, Ashley Huett, Aaron Huett and wife Kim, Raegan and husband Marty Williams and Sarah Huett; two great grandchildren, Hunter Grimes and Wren Williams; and two step great grandchildren, Trevor and Payton Seely.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 26, 2 p.m. at Brazzel-Oakcrest Funeral Home Chapel in Hope with Rev. Bobby Joe Wright officiating. Burial followed in Memory Gardens cemetery in Hope. Arrangements were under the direction of Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home of Hope.

Robert Ivy Kirk
Ivy Kirk, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed from this life Saturday, May 20, 2000, at Medical Park Hospital in Hope.
Mr. Kirk was born November 4, 1919, in Bluff City. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the South Pacific. He was retired from Potlatch.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Marzelle Kirk; two daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Douglas Henderson of Hope and Judy and Jimmie Carlton of Prescott; three granddaughters and grandsons-in-law, Carrie and Randy Nivens of Prescott, Christie and David Cannon of Hope and Stephanie Carlton of Prescott; five great grandchildren, Robbie Haynie, Chas Haynie, Kori Cannon, Abbey Nivens and Kirk Carlton; one sister, Charlene Gamill of Rosston; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Services were Monday, May 22, in the Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Caney cemetery with Rev. Arlie Kyzer, Rev. Betty Stinson and Rev. Phil Hull officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Shackelford Funeral Home of Prescott.

Nellie Smallwood
Nellie Smallwood, 91, of Prescott died Friday, May 19, 2000, in Medical Park Hospital in Hope.
Mrs. Smallwood was born April 4, 1909, in Bluff city, the daughter of the late Jeff and Luvenia Clanahan. She was a homemaker and a member of St. John Baptist Church in Bluff City.
Survivors include one stepson, Robert Smallwood Sr. of Prescott; two sisters, Berdie Mae Bowman of Prescott and Recie Dismute of Malvern; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 27, at St. John Baptist Church at Bluff City with Elder Leroy Sworn officiating. Burial was in St. John cemetery under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home of Arkadelphia
