Victor P. Blount
Victor P. Blount, 81, of Emmet died Wednesday, October 18, 2000, at Hillcrest Care and Rehab in Prescott.
Mr. Blount was born October 7, 1919, in Bluff City to William and Maggie Mae Brown Blount. He was a retired logger, member of Grace Baptist Church and an army veteran during World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, David Blount; a brother, Jessie Blount; and two sisters, Winnie Mae Blount and Laurene Key.
Survivors include his wife, Mae Moseley Blount of Emmet; one son, Bennie P. Blount and Delight of Murfreesboro; four daughters, Carolyn Davis Hill of Arkadelphia, Donna Surles and Mike of Roggen, Col., Sandra Almand of Hope, and Teri Glass of Dallas, Texas; one brother, Bobby Blount of Camden; two sisters, Thelma Mallugan of Texas and Josephine Taylor of Arkadelphia; 19 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, October 20, at Brazzel-Cornish Funeral Home Chapel in Prescott with Rev. Bennie Blount and Rev. Oliver McKamie officiating. Burial was in Snell cemetery under the direction of Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home of Prescott.

Georgia Allene W. Jones
Georgia Allene W. Jones, 78, of Emmet died Thursday, October 19, 2000, at Medical Park Hospital in Hope.
Mrs. Jones was born January 14, 1922, to George S. and Minne Jarvis Ward. She was a homemaker and member of Forrest Hill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Jones.
Survivors include a son, Ronnie Jones of Emmet; a daughter, Darlene Arnette of Palestine, Texas, seven grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, October 21, 2000, in Herndon Funeral Home Chapel in Hope with Rev. Raymond Hicks and Rev. Ed Phillips officiating. Burial was in Forrest Hill cemetery under the direction of Herndon Funeral Home of Hope.

Angela Lee Peck
Angela Lee Peck, 22, of Emmet died Friday, October 20, 2000.
Angela was born September 25, 1978, in Prescott to Thomas and Barbara Piercy Peck. She was an employee at Texaco Truck Center and a member of New Liberty Baptist Church.
Survivors include her parents, Thomas and Barbara Peck of Emmet; two brothers, Lynn and Randy Peck of Emmet; her maternal grandmother, Faye Peck of North Little Rock; and a niece, Cheyanna Peck of Emmet.
Funeral services were held Sunday, October 22, at the Herndon Funeral Home Chapel in Hope with Rev. Buddy McKamie and Rev. Elmer Grant officiating. Burial was in Snell cemetery in Emmet under the direction of the Herndon Funeral Home of Hope.

Ever Burnham
Mrs. Ever Burnham, 93, of Delight died Sunday, October 22, 2000, at Beverly Healthcare in Hot Springs.
Mrs. Burnham was born May 15, 1907, in Delight to James and Birdie Tyeo May. She was a former owner-operator of the Otasco Store in Hope, and she was a homemaker. Mrs. Burnham was a member of the Delight Church of Christ and the Extension Homemakers. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Claus R. Burnham, and five Brothers, George, Raymon, Fred, Roy and Clib May.
Survivors include one daughter, Burna Mae Burnham of Delight; one brother, Burt May of Delight; one sister, Otsy Mae Copeland of Anaheim, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be today, Wednesday, October 25, at the Delight Church of Christ with Wallace Alexander and Milton Copeland officiating. Burial will be in Delight cemetery under the direction of Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home of Prescott.

Laura Elizabeth Herring
Laura Elizabeth Cooper Herring, 79, of Warren died Wednesday, October 18, 2000, at her home.
Mrs. Herring was born August 16, 1921, in Bradley County, the daughter of the late Robert G. Cooper and Ida Rose Carter Cooper. She was a homemaker, a teacher's aide for the Warren School District and a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. She received her education in the Bradley County Public School System and the University of Arkansas at Monticello. She married James S. Baker and he lost his life on May 24, 1944, in World War II. On October 4, 1947, she married Theron Lee Herring and he died March 9, 1997. She was preceded in death by a brother, Earl Cooper.
Survivors include three sons, Dr. Robert Baker of Lubbock, Texas, Randall Herring of Warren and Rex Herring of Edgewood, N.M..; four daughters, Regina Stedman of Prescott, Rose Gantz of Little Rock and Ruth Lephiew and Retha Sawyer both of Warren; three brothers, Alec Cooper of San Antonio Texas, Clyde Cooper of Mansfield, Ohio, and Jerry Cooper of Raleigh, N.C.; one sister, Reba Clanton of Greenville, Miss.; 14 grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, October 21, at Immanuel Baptist Church with Rev. Craig Jenkins officiating. Pam Wharton was organist, Janice Sullivan, pianist and the Immanuel Church Choir sang. Burial was in Moseley cemetery near Warren by Frazer's Funeral Home of Warren. Active pallbearers were John Herring, John Stedman, Michael Sipes, Robert Lephiew, Ryan Lephiew and Bobby Baker. Memorials preferred Immanuel Baptist Church.

Lois Grimes
Lois B. Grimes, 76, of Prescott died Tuesday, March 22, 2005, in St. Michael Hospital in Texarkana.
Lois is the widow of Elbert Grimes, and member of Fairview Methodist Church in Prescott.
Her survivors include: one brother, Red McCain of Prescott; one sister, Jenada Bloomfield of Arkadelphia; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Junior McCain and Cordell McCain of Prescott and Sterling McCain of Belton, Mo.
Services were Thursday, March 24, at 2 p.m. in Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Pleasant Hill cemetery by Shackelford Funeral Home.

Alfred Smith III
Alfred Smith III, 86, retired from Ethyl Corp., after 32 years of service, passed away at his residence in Baton Rouge, La., on Wednesday, October 18, 2000.
Mr. Smith was born in Wyoming, Del., December 3, 1914. He graduated with high honors when he received his bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering from the University of Florida in 1940. He earned a master of science degree in chemical engineering from LSU in 1942. He was a member of Tau Beta Phi, Gamma Sigma Epsilon and Phi Kappa Phi honor fraternities. His first job was at the Lion Chemical Ozark Ordnance Plant in El Dorado from 1942 to 1945, where he was assistant chief chemist, supervising a control lab of 60 employees. He moved to Cabot Carbon Co. in Pampa, Texas, in 1945 to its pilot plant for carbon block, which was high priority for tires for military vehicles. In 1947 he moved to Ville Platte, La., as chief engineer for Cabot. This was the world's largest carbon block plant at that time. He joined Ethyl Corp. in June 1952 and retired December 1, 1983. At Ethyl he worked in technical services, process design and economic evaluations. He was a registered professional engineer. He was a fellow of AICHE and served as a national director from 1965 to 1967. He served on the national environmental committee and national membership committee. In Baton Rouge he served as vice chairman in 1957 and chairman in 1958, and was chairman at the start of the Coales Memorial Award. He was listed in Engineers of Distinction in 1970. He was active in the Downtown Kiwanis Club in Baton Rouge and at one time was president of Rotary Club in Ville Platte. He served as a deacon at First Presbyterian Church for more than 35 years and taught a Sunday school class. He was a life member of the Camelot Club, a member of the Oregon Club, former president of the Ethyl Management Club, a member of the Ethyl 30-Year Club and was an American Club Society Member for many years. He was also a former member of the Cornite Campers. He was active in the Boys Scouts, having served as a Webelo leader and troop committee member. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Smith Jr., and a sister, Hannah Smith and an infant son, Alfred Smith IV.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Irene Hamby Smith; a son, Randolph H. Smith; and a daughter-in-law, Ruth Talley Smith of Kingwood, Texas; a daughter, Irene Smith Alesce, and a son-in-law, Leon Alesce of Baton Rouge, La.; grandchildren, Lauren and R.H. Smith Jr. of Kingwood and Allison I. Alesce of Baton Rouge; and two brothers, James G. Smith and his wife Helen of Lakeland, Fla., and Daniel B. Smith and his wife Ellen of Orlando, Fla.,
Graveside services were Sunday, October 22, at DeAnn cemetery in Prescott with Rev. Jerry Westmoreland officiating. Burial was under the direction of Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home of Prescott.

William L. 'Bill' Ridling
William L. ‘Bill' Ridling, 78, of Prescott died Sunday, October 22, at his home.
Mr. Ridling was born June 28, 1922, in Prescott to Fred C. and Marie Blount Ridling. He was a cattle farmer, retired shop foremen of the Nevada County shop and former driller with the oil field industry. He was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church, having received his 11-year perfect attendance pin for Sunday school just recently. He was an army veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Fred C. Ridling Jr. and by one grandson, Dan Ridling.
Survivors include his wife of 58½ years, Lela Faye Ridling of Prescott; two sons, Bill Ridling Jr. and Mike Ridling of Prescott; one daughter, Pat Harris of Hope; one sister, Vealetta Killabrew of Prescott, eight grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral services were Tuesday, October 24, at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home Chapel in Prescott with Rev. Mike Taylor and Rev. Neal Ridling officiating. Burial was in Liberty cemetery in Prescott under the direction of Brazzel-Cornish Funeral Home of Prescott.

Calvin Lynn Graham
Calvin Lynn Graham, 72, of Prescott died Friday, October 20, 2000, at Hope.
Mr. Graham was born January 10, 1928, in Bagwell, Texas, to Robert Lee and Maude Pearl Graham. He was a laborer at Tyson Industries and was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by a son, Calvin Dwight Graham.
Survivors include his wife, Mary McKinnon Graham of Prescott; two sons, Bruce Lynn Graham of Midland, Texas, and Bruce Dwight Lynn Graham of Blevins; eight daughters, Anita Banks of Malaysia, Shelia Williams and Judy Woods of Midland, Texas, Becky Rice of Austin, Texas, Mary Ann Bennett and Nancy Pauline Spell of Prescott, and Carolyn Sue Toland and Lorencyk-Cay Graham of Emmet; a sister, Mary Francis Williams of Midland, Texas; 26 grandchildren, (including these raised by Calvin and Mary: Hope Elizabeth Daniel, Santana Louise Daniel and Christopher Alan Paul Daniel); and five great grandchildren.
Graveside services were Tuesday, October 24, at Nubbin Hill cemetery near Prescott with Neal Ridling and Jerry Wilson officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Shackelford Funeral Home of Prescott.

Larry Frank Davis
Larry Frank Davis, 89, of Prescott died Monday, October 23, 2000, at Medical Park Hospital in Hope.
Mr. Davis was born August 30, 1911, in Minden La., to John Marshall Davis and Willie Mae Bates Davis. He was a retired carpenter and a member of First Christian Church in Prescott. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Mae Davis, in 1985 and two daughters, Betty Jo and Mary.
Survivors include two daughters, Ann Louise Duncan of Orange, Texas, and Clara Hardison of Fernland, Nev.; eight grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, October 25, at DeAnn cemetery in Prescott with Bro. Tal Webb officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Shackelford Funeral Home of Prescott.

Winifred Hulan
Winifred Hulan, 73, of Prescott died Thursday, October 26, 2000.
Mrs. Hulan was born September 22, 1926, in Prescott to Ronald Applegate White and Susie Hoover White. She was a housewife and member of Shady Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Sue Lavendar of Florence, Ala., and Rebecca Ann Hulan of Prescott; a brother, Raymond White of Texarkana; three grandchildren, Carla Michelle McKim, K.T. Michelle Hamilton and Ronald Alexander Hulan; and one great grandchild, Kaitlin Gareielle McKim.
Graveside services were Monday, October 30, in Liberty cemetery with Bro. Ricky Burke officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Shackelford Funeral Home of Prescott.

William C. 'Bill' Eggleston
William C. ‘Bill' Eggleston, 80, of Sutton died Monday, October 30, 2000, at his home.
Mr. Eggleston was born January 4, 1920, in Williamson County, Texas, to Clarence and Tollie Eggleston. He oversaw the family timberland interests and other investments. He was a member of Harmony United Methodist Church, having served many years as chairman of the trustees for the church and the cemetery. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II, having served as a B-17 bomber radio operator in the European Theater. He came to Arkansas in 1967 for employment in the automobile industry and stayed to go into business for himself. He was a member of Whitfield Masonic Lodge 239, 32nd degree Mason Scottish Rite, Scimitar Shrine Temple, Royal Order of Jesters Court 12, Royal Arch Mason DeRoan Order of Jesters Court Order of Eastern Star 328. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jon Edward Eggleston.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Wren Eggleston of Sutton and one son, Jon Wren Eggleston of Sutton.
Funeral services will be held today, Wednesday, November 1, at 2:00 p.m. at Harmony United Methodist Church in Sutton with Rev. Jerry Westmoreland officiating. Burial will be in Harmony cemetery in Sutton under the direction of Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home of Prescott.
