Alvin Damascus Schaal, 84, of Mineral Springs, died Friday, August 8, 2008.

He was born October 9, 1923, at Schaal, AR, the son of the late Augustine, Sr. and Montie Mae Young Schaal.

He was a Methodist, a retired Construction Worker, and a World War II Air Force Veteran.

Mr. Schaal was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Osborn Schaal; two sons, Jerry Schaal, and Henry Schaal; sister, Clara Harris and brother, Augustine Schaal, Jr.

He is survived by one daughter, Rosemary Dyer of Texarkana, AR; one son-in-law, James Dyer of Nashville, AR; two daughters-in-law, Susan Hartness of Mineral Springs, AR and Sandra Frick of Bogota, TX; one sister, Nancy Southerland of Michigan; special friends, Ray and Marty Hines of Nashville, AR; special nephew, Phillip Schaal; grandchildren, Samantha McCrary, Jamie Patterson, Jay Dyer, Henry Schaal, George Schaal, Mary Schaal and Kayla McCarley; 10 great-grandchildren, a number of nephews, nieces and a host of friends.

Graveside Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M., Monday, August 11, at Mineral Springs cemetery, under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Sunday, August 10, from 7:00 - 9:00 P.M.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Billie Edwina Smith

Billie Edwina Smith, 59, of Nashville, died Thursday, August 7, 2008, at her home.

She was born January 24, 1949, at Nashville, AR, the daughter of the late Hoyle Erwin and Edith Tapscott Erwin.

She was a member of Grace Baptist Church.

She was a Cosmetologist.

Mrs. Smith is survived by two daughters, Wendy Smith Franklin and husband, Devin, of Nashville, AR and Holly Smith and finance’, Eric Goss, of Nashville, AR; two brothers, Zane Thomas and wife, Josie, of Nashville, AR and Boyd Thomas and wife, Becky, of Nashville, AR; a special friend, Robbie Seavers of Nashville, AR; four grandchildren, Mackenzie Erwin, Lynsey Smith, Lily Stewart and Jacob Goss; a number of nephews and nieces and a host of friends.

Graveside Services are scheduled for 2:30 P.M., Saturday, August 9, at Ozan cemetery, with Arthur Baker officiating, under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home, Nashville.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, August 8, from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M.

Olen Lloyd Watson
October 4, 2008
Olen Lloyd Watson, age 74, passed away peacefully at his home, Saturday, October 4, 2008.

He was born July 23, 1934 in the Brock Springs community near Murfreesboro, the second son of the late Robert and Estelle Wood Watson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter, Shelly Hoover, and a great granddaughter, Abby Patterson.

He was a faithful member of the Saline Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife and best friend of 54 years, Johnnie Greer Watson; two sons and their mates, Larry Watson and Eva, David Watson and Samantha, one daughter, Patti Graves and Gary; five grandchildren, Kelley Campbell, Haley Graves, Mandy Bailey, John David Watson, Jr. all of Murfreesboro and Justin Watson of Nash, TX; two great grandchildren Colten Patterson and Madison Campbell; three brothers, Leon Watson of Fouke, AR; Robert Watson of Texarkana, AR; Travis Watson of Murfreesboro, AR, and one sister Marilyn Walker of Murfreesboro; five nephews and seven nieces.

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Monday, October 6, 2008 at Pleasant Home Church of Christ with Roger Cox officiating.

Burial will follow in Pleasant Home cemetery, under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home Murfreesboro.

Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Sunday, October 5, 2008, at the funeral home .

Helen B. Lyons
September 29, 2008
Helen B. Lyons, 90, of Nashville, died Monday, September 29, at a Nashville nursing home.

She was born December 20, 1917, at Ada, Oklahoma, the daughter of the late Fagon and Lucy Sneed Brown.

She was a member of the First Christain Church, where she was bookkeeper.

She loved ceramics.

Mrs. Lyons was preceded in death by her husband, Elliott Lyons; and one brother, F.M. Brown, Jr.

She is survived by three nephews, Bobby Brown of Wylie, TX, Doug Lyons of Denver, CO, Stan Lyons of Denver, CO; three nieces, Yvonne Harris of Houston, TX, Debra Abney of Houston, TX and Elaine Smith of Nashville, AR; six cousins, Louise Drouillard of Saratoga, AR, Berna Ray of Saratoga, AR, Lucille Hardin of Saratoga, AR Lyndol Jones of Nashville, AR, James Gray of Saratoga, AR and Robert Gray of Saratoga, AR; one brother-in-law, Calvin Lyons and wife, Louise, of Nashville, AR; one sister-in-law, Betty Brown of Houston, TX and a host of friends.

Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Thursday, October 2, at Restland Memorial Park, with Ralph Posey officiating, under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home, Nashville.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Wednesday, October 1, from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M.

Memorials may be made to First Christian Church, Nashville.

Winnie Mitchell
August 13, 2009
Winnie Mitchell, age 98, of Murfreesboro, AR, died Thursday, August 13, 2009 at Murfreesboro Nursing Center.

She was born Monday, March 13, 1911 in Murfreesboro, AR, the daughter of the late Henry Austin and Beulah Bell (Buckley) Strawn.

She was married to Otto Burnett Mitchell on April 29.

She was a nurses aide at Pike County Hospital and member of the Harvest Time Assembly of God Church.

In addition to her parents and husband, Otto, she was preceded in death by three sons, Billy Glen Mitchell, David Lynn Mitchell, and Terry Wayne Mitchell; and four sisters, Allene Allison, Hazel Flaherty, Corrinne Strawn, and Dorris Shaft.

Survivors include one son, Jerry Bob Mitchell; one daughter, Nella Mitchell Crow one sister, Adell Thomas one brother, Morris Strawn; 19 grandchildren, Tony, Jamie, Dawn, Angie, Danielle, Matthew, Theresa, Kevin, DeWayne, Bobbie, Ray, Gene, Stacey, Mike Kelly, Brandy, Brandon, Brent, Angie; 26 great grandchildren;, Connor, Warner, Marly, Tashina, Randy, Tiffany, Glenn, Dillon, Kelsey, Madison, Cain, Autumn, Jason, Jeremy, Whitney, Greg, Mitchell, Ryan, Rachel, Blake, Morgan, Michel, Ashlee, Matthew, Celena, Audra and 9 great-great grandchildren, Adalyn, Jocee, Kason, Skyelar, Kaleb, Payten, Chesney, Cameron, Lilly.

Many other relatives and friends mourn her passing.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Saturday, August 15, at Harvest Time Assembly with Bro. Jerry Shinn officiating under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home, Murfreesboro.

Burial will follow in Murfreesboro cemetery.

Vicki Lynn Price
August 7, 2009
Vicki Lynn Price, age 49, of Delight, Arkansas, died Friday August 7, 2009, at a Hot Springs hospital.

She was born October 11, 1959 in Houston, Texas, the daughter of John and Beryl Dean Buckley Wilson.

She was a member of the 1st Assembly of God Church in Delight and was a devoted mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her mother Beryl Wilson and brother John Wilson, Jr.

Survivors include her father John Wilson of Delight; son and daughter-in-law Shawn and Noelle DeLeon of Houston, TX; two brothers Tom York of Delight, Mark Wilson of Delight; one sister Lenora Stephens of Myrtle Beach, NC; and one grandson Jacob DeLeon of Houston, TX.

Services will be 10:00 A.M. Monday at 1st Assembly of God Church in Delight with burial in Delight cemetery.

Visitation will be 6:00-9:00 P.M. Sunday at Latimer Funeral Home in Murfreesboro.

Robert D. Rockenbach
August 1, 2009
Robert David Rockenbach, 69, of Nashville, died Saturday, August 1, 2009 at Howard Memorial Hospital in Nashville.

He was born on August 27, 1939 in Grayslake, Illinois, the son of Robert George and Jean (Donahue) Rockenbach.

He was a mechanic, worked in the parts department and was general manager of Rockenbach Chevrolet in Grayslake, IL.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Willene Becky Rockenbach.

Survivors include one son, Robert Lyle Rockenbach of Nashville; one brother, Douglas Rockenbach of Grayslake, IL; two sisters, Marjorie Rasmussen and Loretta Donahue both of Colorado Springs, CO; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Many other relatives and friends mourn his passing.

Memorial services will be announced at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home.

Marvin Smith, 85, of Texarkana, AR, passed away Tuesday, July 28th surrounded by his caring family.

He was born December 25th, 1923.

He was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Texarkana, AR.

He retired from Day and Zimmerman after 50 years and he was also a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union for 60 years.

He was preceded in death by a wife, Freda Flemens Smith of 58 years; his parents, Martha Cogburn and Lewis Haltom; and two brothers, Herman and Bill Haltom.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Martin Smith; two daughters, Louise Toliver of Nashville, AR and Ruth Toliver of Benton, AR; two sons, Buddy Smith and wife Brenda of Texarkana, AR and Joe Paul Smith of Hot Springs, AR; three step-daughters, Vicky and Ricky Willbanks, of Whitehouse, TX, Sharon and Larry Reynolds of Mt. Pleasant, TX and Jann Martin of Arlington, TX; four grandchildren, Michael and Kristy Toliver of Nashville, AR, Toni and Mike Seavers of Nashville, AR, Brian Smith of Texarkana, AR, and Brandi and Calen Isbell of Columbia, MD; two step-grandchildren, Koby Wilbanks of Whitehouse, TX and Kyle Reynolds of Mt. Pleasant, TX; one great-grandchild, Braden Seavers of Nashville, AR and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.

Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Thursday, July 30. at Biggs Chapel cemetery at Nathan, AR.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Faith Baptist Church, 2812 East St., Texarkana, AR 71854.

Thomas Michael Rathbone, age 63, of Murfreesboro, AR, died Monday, July 20, 2009 at Pike County Hospital.

He was born March 30, 1946 in Tulsa, OK, the son of John and Shirley Davis Rathbone.

He was pastor of First Christian Church in Murfreesboro, since August of 1995.

He was in the ministry for 40 years.

Survivors include his wife Judy Rathbone of Murfreesboro; three sons and daughters-in-law Craig Thomas and Julie Rathbone of Greenville, IL, Scott Eric and Jody Rathbone of Owasso, OK, Aaron Christopher and Tracee Rathbone of Owasso, OK; ten brothers Jim Rathbone of Newport Richey, FL, Bill Rathbone of Coweta, OK, John Rathbone III of Broken Arrow, OK, David Rathbone of Tulsa, OK, Dan Rathbone of Holiday, FL, Tim Rathbone of Sacramento, CA, Steve Rathbone of Broken Arrow, OK, Mark Rathbone of Broomfield, CO, Paul Rathbone of Tulsa, OK, Ben Rathbone of Owasso, OK; two sisters Becky Schmidt of Broken Arrow, OK, Debby Booth of Broken Arrow, OK; five grandchildren David, Jonathan and Elizabeth Rathbone all of Greenville, IL, Aric Rathbone of Owasso, OK and Caleb Rathbone of Owasso, OK as well as many friends and relatives.

Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM, Thursday, July 23, 2009 at First Christian Church in Murfreesboro.

A Memorial Service will be held 1:00 P.M. Friday at First Christian Church in Owasso, OK.

Burial will be 4:00 P.M. Friday, in Johnson cemetery, in West Siloam Springs, OK.

Visitation will be 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM, Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at Latimer Funeral Home in Murfreesboro.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Christian Church in Murfreesboro.
