Tommy Sue Gosnell

Tommy Sue Gosnell age 81 of Arkadelphia died Friday, July 15, 2011 at her home. She was born October 17, 1929 in Glenwood the daughter of Thomas D. and Stoe Boyd Parsons. She was a member of the Arkadelphia Church of Christ and the widow of Aubrey Gosnell.
Survivors include three sons, Charles Gosnell and his wife Terrie of Arkadelphia, Steven Gosnell and his wife Renea of Colorado Springs, and Paul Gosnell of Limerick, PA, one sister, Edna Williams of Waco, TX, six grandchildren, Annastasia Dyer, Rebekah Frazier, Mallory Gosnell, Heather Young, Christin Gosnell and Kellyn Gosnell, one great grandson, Aiden Thomas Dyer.
Funeral services will be 2 PM Tuesday in the Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Chapel with Randy Turner officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Monday at the funeral home
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
E.J. "Al" Alexander

E.J. "Al" Alexander age 89 of Arkadelphia passed from this life on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at Arkansas Hospice in Hot Springs. He was born May 14, 1922 in Colorado City, Texas, the son of the late Turner Jefferson and Ethel Irene Young Alexander. Al was the owner and operator of Independent Well Point Corporation and Farm Town Implement of Arkadelphia for many years. He was an avid golfer, and a member of the Arkansas State Golf Association Hall of Fame. Al was a United States Marine Corp veteran of World War II where he served in the South Pacific at Bougainville. As a marine, he contracted malaria and was sent to New Zealand and received an honorable discharge. Al was a member of First United Methodist Church of Arkadelphia.
Survivors are his wife Jean Smith Alexander, one daughter Kathy Diane (Larry) Young of Des Moines, IA, two sons Kevin Bruce (Susie) Alexander of Brownsboro, TX and Todd (Beth Ann) Alexander of Crockett County, TX, one sister Nina McDougal of Eastland, TX, four grandchildren Hillary Jean (Dustin) Shelton, Alex Richardson Young, Clayton Hunter Alexander and Brittany Paige Alexander.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Carroll Jackson officiating.
The family will receive friends at their home at 1516 Evans from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday.
Honorary pallbearers are Ralph Williams, Jan Williams, Floyd Brantley, Tom Calhoun, Percy Malone and Dr. Ron Spann.
Graveside services with military honors will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at Fairmount cemetery in San Angelo, TX.

Ida Mae Still
(July 20, 1909 - May 5, 2011)
Ida Mae Cannon Still died May 5th, 2011. She was born July 20, 1909 in Hope, Arkansas to Archelaus and Sarah 'Bertie' Schoolfield Cannon. She was married
to the late Judge Ernest Still of Arkadelphia. She lived in Arkadelphia for many years, having first lived here while a student at Henderson-Brown College in 1928. She was a retired teacher of 31 years, mostly in the Arkadelphia School District. She was also Dean of Women at Southern Arkansas (then Magnolia A. & M.) during the mid 1930's. From 1944 until 1950, she was Deputy Clerk in the Clark County Clerk's Office. During her lifetime Ida Mae was an avid traveler and gardener. She was a past member of the Arkadelphia, Arkansas, Groves, Texas and Hemphill, Texas Garden Clubs where she earned ribbons for flower displays. She shared interests of needlework, quilting and cut glass which she collected with her daughter. Ida Mae was a member of the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution since 1958; and also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and Arkansas Retired Teachers Association. She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Cannon Still Keyton and husband Richard of Arkadelphia, four grandchildren; Sarah 'Sally' Dixon and husband Byron Dixon, of Social Hill, Arkansas; Robin Johnston and husband Stephen of Hemphill, Texas; Nancy Reed and husband Derral of Abilene, Texas; Jefferson Keyton and wife Sarah of Austin, Texas; and five great grandchildren; PFC Jesse Dixon (USMC), Pensacola, Florida, J. Daniel 'Danny' Iles, Beaumont, Texas, Christopher Iles, Nacogdoches, Texas, Margo Reed, Abilene, Texas, and Ivy Mae Keyton, Austin, Texas and niece Dorothy Coltharp of Midlothian, Texas and nephew, Dr. Allan Cannon, Austin, Texas. She was predeceased by her husband, Judge J. Ernest Still, her mother and father Sarah and Arch Cannon, and brother Gordon Cannon and sister Clarice Cannon of Hope, Arkansas.
Graveside funeral services will be 2 PM Sunday in the Mt. Zion cemetery with Dr. Phil W. McLarty officiating. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Saturday at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia.

David Steven Schmid
(September 15, 1978 - April 28, 2012)
David Steven Schmid age 33 of Arkadelphia died Saturday, April 28, 2012 near Arkadelphia. He was born September 15, 1978 in Oak Park, Illinois. He was a college counselor at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, a drummer for Blind Opie, an avid Razorback and Cubs fan. David held a Bachelors and Masters degree from Henderson State University.
Survivors include his father and step-mother, Dr. Richard and Dusty Schmid of Arkadelphia; his mother, Elyse Price of Sherwood, Arkansas; one sister, Lisa Schmid Fray and husband, Robert of North Little Rock; maternal grandparents, The Rev. Dr. Edwin and Erma Suelflow of Sussex, Wisconsin; one nephew, Steven Fray and one niece, Sophia Fray both of North Little Rock and a lots of other family and many friends.
Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Thursday, May 3, 2012 at First Lutheran Church in Little Rock. Burial will be in Rest Hills Memorial Park in North Little Rock. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Wednesday at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia. Memorials may be made to Henderson State University Scholarship Fund.
Patsy Mae Bishop
(August 24, 1930 - March 16, 2012)
Patsy Mae Kirkpatrick Bishop age 81, of Hot Springs passed away Friday, March 16, 2012 in Hot Springs. She was born August 24, 1930 in Amity, the daughter of the late Albert Loyd and Annie Mae Walker Kirkpatrick. She was a retired Librarian.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Barry H. Bishop and one brother, Neale Kirkpatrick.
Survivors are her children, David Bishop, Michael Bishop, Holly Jeanette Bishop, Christina Price and Carlene Cashdollar; two brothers, Earl Kirkpatrick and wife, Patsy Dell of Bauxite, Arkansas, Ron Kirkpatrick and wife, Nancy of Hot Springs, Arkansas; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, March 18th at Jones cemetery at Amity. Arrangements are by Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home of Arkadelphia.
Pauline McGrew Grigsby
(March 28, 1924 - June 19, 2011)
Pauline McGrew Grigsby age 87 of Arkadelphia passed from this life on Sunday, June 19, 2011 at her home. She was born March 28, 1924 in Mountain Pine, Arkansas the daughter of the late Elza and Lillie Brady McGrew. Pauline was a homemaker and a Christian woman, evident by the way she treated all she met. She always put her family above herself. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Bonnie Padgett and Doris Holmes and two brothers, Don and Garland McGrew.
Pauline is survived by her husband of seventy years, Jimmy Grigsby, Jr., of the home, one son, James Randall (Cheryl) Grigsby of Hot Springs, two grandchildren Shay Grigsby Olson of Fort Campbell, KY and Stephen Elza Grigsby of Hot Springs and five great grandchildren, Sarah, Seth and Kameron Olson of Fort Campbell, KY and Aidan and Anna Grigsby of Hot Springs, her sister-in-law, Lola Bess Fisher of Mountain Pine and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens with Rev. Ronnie Hardin officiating.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at Welch Funeral Home.

Allen Loy
(Died March 17, 2012)
Angels carried Allen Lee Loy home to be with our Lord on March 16, 2012. He now waits for his best friend and wife of 33 years, Lynn Burroughs Loy, whose bond of love surpasses all time. He was born October 11, 1956 in Hot Springs, the son of the late Leo and Pearl Garner Loy. Allen graduated from Bismarck High School, and chose a job in maintenance management. He was a member of the Bismarck Pentecostal Church. He raised his family in the community where he grew up, as he desired to do. He enjoyed fishing, farming, traveling, and watching the Arkansas Razorbacks. At every opportunity he shared how God's Peace kept him through the numerous surgeries and hospitalizations. We will always treasure the self-sacrificial love shown daily to his family throughout his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Truman Loy and one sister, Sue Loy Rowton.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Stephanie Loy Collier and her husband Aaron of Bismarck and Blake Loy and his wife Ashley of Little Rock. He had a strong work ethic and used strength and compassion as guidance to teach the value of diligence to his children. His big heart and the ability to put people at ease emanated a sense of security to all those who loved him. His sole grandchild, Emilee Collier, always cherished the time spent with her Papa going out on the lake, watching cartoons, and sitting on the porch drinking coffee in the morning. He loved assuring her that God had chosen her for our family, and made it a priority to instill the Word of God in her. He is also survived by four sisters, Faye Hughes and husband Ray of Bismarck, Shirley Bradshaw and husband Bill of Magnolia, Mary Pope and husband Dale of Little Rock, Diane Ellis and husband Tom of Bismarck, as well as several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be at 11 AM Tuesday, March 20 at the Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Chapel with Brother Van Glidewell and Brother Howard Rowton officiating. Burial will be in the Hickory Grove cemetery near Bismarck. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Monday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Gentry DePriest, Kyler DePriest, Matt Ellis, Tony Loy, Matt Lozeau, and Ryan Shuffield. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation and gratitude to Dr. Mark Jansen, Dr. Steve Bodeman, Dr. Terri Blackstock, Dr. Carl Covey, and to the medical staff at St. Joseph's Mercy Health Center in Hot Springs.
Lillian "Lil" Toney
(August 14, 1933 - June 10, 2012)
Lillian "Lil" Toney age 78 of Bismarck died Sunday, June 10, 2012. She was born August 14, 1933 the daughter of Robert and Xenia Beaty. She was retired from Bismarck Elementary School and was a member of First Baptist Church of Bismarck. She was preceded in death by a sister, Gladys Harrison and four brothers, John, J. T., Waylon, and Charles Beaty
Survivors include her husband of 62 years Adolph Toney, two daughters, Becky Adams and her husband John of Kilgore, TX and Angela Kay Ward of Bismarck, grandchildren, Preston (Jennifer) Adams, Koren (Shane) Chanler, Phillip (Cassie) Livingston, Toney (Sandy) Livingston, Kayla Ward, Butch Ward, Steven Ward, and 8 great grandchildren, one brother, Robert Beaty of Benton.
Funeral services will be 2 PM Tuesday, June 12th in First Baptist Church of Bismarck with Pastor Jeremy Greer officiating. Burial will be in the First Baptist Church cemetery. Visitation 6-8 PM Monday at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia.
Betty Jo Wilks
(April 14, 1930 - November 8, 2011)
Betty Jo Wilks age 80, of the Joan Community near Arkadelphia, died Tuesday, November 8, 2011. She was born April 14, 1930 in the Joan Community, the daughter of the late Melvin and Florence Posey Thompson. Betty worked at Oberman's and Levi Straus in Arkadelphia for over thirty years, and worked at Riverwood Nursing Home after retirement. She attended House of Prayer in Spring Hill.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hurshel M. Wilks on November 13, 2009 and two brothers, Floyd and Bobby Thompson.
Survivors include one daughter, Barbara Golden and husband, Roy of Conway, AR; three grandchildren, Babette Nielsen and husband, Steven of Cape Coral, FL., Brigitte Golden and Brandon Golden both of Conway, AR; two great-grandchildren, Brittany and Braeden Golden both of Conway, AR; four brothers, Frank Thompson and Donnie Thompson both of Joan, Larry Thompson of Gum Springs, and Bill Thompson of West Palm Beach, FL.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday, November 11th at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home with E. B. Green officiating. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 1:00 PM Friday until service time. Memorials may be made to East Clark County Fire Department or to Arkansas Hospice.
Andrew Doyle Coe
(December 9, 1923 - March 7, 2012)
Andrew Doyle Coe, 88 passed away on Wednesday March 7, 2012 in Ocala, Florida. Born in Hot Springs, AR. he moved to Ocala in 1988. He served in the United States Army during World War II and the Korean War as a 1st Lieutenant. He was a professor of Mathematics at Westark Community College. He also worked as the Assistant Principle at Hot Springs High School where President Bill Clinton was his student for three years. He served 2nd Baptist Church of Hot Springs as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and choir member. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, and Razorback football. He loved his family and was proud of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Faye Coe of Ocala; Bruce Coe of Houston, TX; Kimberly Coe Miros (Steve) of Ocala; grandchildren, Hope Coe Jones, Karis Coe, Andrew Miros, Matthew Miros, and Thomas Miros; two great grandchildren, Grace and Ave Jones. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, March 10, 2012 at Hiers- Baxley Funeral Services- Ocala Chapel, 910 SE Silver Springs Blvd in Ocala with Dr. Mickey Graves officiating. A graveside service will be held 1:00 PM Saturday March 17, 2012 at Phillipi cemetery.
Shannon Dawn Lacy

Shannon Dawn Lacy, age 41, of Gurdon, died Friday, June 3, 2011 in Arkadelphia. She was born January 23, 1970 in Gurdon, Arkansas. Shannon was a member of Sycamore Church at Beirne, she was a restaurant manager at Wendy's in Caddo Valley and Sonic restaurant in Arkadelphia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Derwin Lacy.
Survivors are three children, Angel Huddleston of Arkadelphia; Dorian Lacy and Sharah Lacy both of Gurdon; five grandchildren, Nina, Mya, Mia, Deountae and Airel; her mother, Deborah Mead and husband, Chris of Gurdon; her father, Ronald Fields Sr. and wife, Paula of Iyanbito, New Mexico; two brothers, Ronald Fields Jr. and wife, Shannon of Gurdon; Case Fields of Durango, CO; two sisters, Micki Marks of Arkadelphia; Faven Fields of Durango, CO; her fiance, Christopher Burtness of Gurdon; and many other family members who loved her dearly.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 7th at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. James McCain officiating. Burial will be in Golden cemetery. Visitation will be 2-4 PM Sunday and 6-8 PM Monday at the funeral home.
Billy Wayne Whisenhunt

Billy Wayne Whisenhunt age 52 of Arkadelphia passed from this life on Monday, June 20, 2011 at Hot Spring County Medical Center in Malvern. He was born July 4, 1958 in Chidester, Arkansas the son of Roy and Barbara Fitzhugh Whisenhunt. Billy was the owner and operator of Whisenhunt Welding, Machine and Muffler shop in Arkadelphia and a member of Whelen Springs Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father Roy Whisenhunt and one brother Ron Whisenhunt.
Billy is survived by his wife Marie Gibson Whisenhunt of the home, one daughter Billani Clark of Arkadelphia, two sons, William and Mark Whisenhunt both of Arkadelphia, his mother Barbara Whisenhunt of Arlington, TX, one sister Rene Gonzalez of Fort Worth, TX, one brother Nathan Whisenhunt of Fort Worth, TX, and four granddaughters.
Services will be announced at a later date.
