Mary Langley
(August 28, 1927 - July 22, 2015)

Mary Butler Langley age 87 of Irving, TX, formerly of Sparkman, died Wednesday, July 22, 2015. She was born August 28, 1927 in Willow, AR the daughter of James Harrison and Mattie Illa Shaddock Butler. She was a member of the United Methodist Church.

Survivors include one son Travis Langley Sr. and his wife Lynda of Dalark, one daughter Patricia 'Trish' Langley of Irving, TX, one brother James L. Butler of Sparkman, one sister Jessie Ruth Morris of Sparkman, four grandchildren, Travis Langley Jr., Melissa Langley Biegert, Michael Allen Denton, Jennifer Denton Daniell, and six great grandchildren.

Graveside funeral services will be 10 AM Saturday, July 25th in the DeLamar cemetery near Manning with Travis Langley Sr. officiating. There will be no formal visitation.

Loreda Denton
(November 29, 1912 - January 3, 2013)

Loreda Denton age 100 of Murfreesboro, died Thursday, January 3, 2013 in Arkadelphia. She was born November 29, 1912 in Gurdon, AR the daughter of the late Samuel and Flora Webb Doss. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Murfreesboro where she taught Sunday School for many years. Mrs. Denton was a substitute teacher in the Delight School system for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Buster A. Denton; a daughter, Janice McCormick; a brother, Robert Doss and a sister, Ruth Evans.

Survivors include one son James B. Denton and his wife Sherilyn of Arkadelphia, one son-in-law, Richard McCormick of Colorado Springs, CO; one sister, Geneva Walker of Delight; three grandchildren, Jana Chandler of Arkadelphia, David McCormick of Broomfield, CO., Christy Apodaca of Colorado Springs, CO. three great grandchildren, Sidney Chandler of Arkadelphia, Rachel McCormick and Ryan McCormick both of Broomfield, CO.

Funeral services will be 2:30 PM Sunday, January 6th in the First Christian Church of Murfreesboro with Rob Evans officiating. Burial will be in the Delight cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Saturday at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to First Christian Church of Murfreesboro.

Donald Alan Judge
(Died October 30, 2011)

Donald Alan Judge, age 70, of Arkadelphia passed from this life on Sunday, October 30, 2011 at his home. He was born on October 22, 1941 in Minneapolis, MN, the son of the late Robert Alan and Shirley Chapin Judge. Donald was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Judge and his sister, Pam Zoller.

He is survived by his wife, Cindy Howard Judge of Arkadelphia.

No services are planned.

Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Welch Funeral Home of Arkadelphia.

Shirley Carolyn Taylor
(June 12, 1938 - December 19, 2012)

Shirley Carolyn Sheehy Taylor age 74 of Friendship died Wednesday, December 19, 2012. She was born in Friendship June 12, 1938 the daughter of James Earl and Nellie Starkey Sheehy. She was a motel and apartment manager and a member of the Friendship Pentecostal Church. She was preceded in death by a brother, John Carol Sheehy, a sister, Theresa Goolsby, and three grandchildren, Christie, Blake and Jacqueline.

Survivors include one son, James Taylor of Friendship, two daughters, Sharon Crabb of Antioch and Karen Harper of California, one sister, Myrna Burg of Carson, CA six grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held in the Friendship Pentecostal Church at 2 PM Monday, December 24, 2012 with Brother Charles Jackson officiating.

Grady Dixon
(October 9, 1927 - February 1, 2015)

Grady Dixon went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 1, 2015 in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Mr. Dixon was born October 9, 1927 in Clark County Arkansas. He was a lifelong resident of his beloved Arkansas until October 28th, 2009 when due to health reasons he moved to Lake Charles, Louisiana to be near his daughter.

Grady was a member of Cullendale First Baptist Church. He was an avid reader and enjoyed watching his Arkansas Razorbacks.

Grady was preceded in death by his loving wife of sixty-three years, Eula Mae Tucker Dixon of Curtis, Arkansas in 2011; one sister, Betty Sue Dixon Jones of Benton, Arkansas; two brothers, Donald Dixon of Benton, Arkansas and Dewey Dixon of Gurdon, Arkansas.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Debany Dixon Rowland of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Donya Dixon Miller of Suwanee, Georgia; one son, Grady Henry Dixon Jr. of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; one sister, Mary Alma Dixon Harris of Hot Springs; three grandchildren, Thomas Neill Rowland III and Rain Dianna Rowland Demarest both of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Michael Tucker Miller of Suwanee, Georgia and four great-grandchildren, Jacob Neill Rowland, Maggie Elizabeth Rowland, Ian Thomas Rowland and Dayton Neill Rowland all of Lake Charles, Louisiana

Visitation will be 5-7 PM Wednesday, February 4th at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia. Graveside service will be at 10:00 AM Thursday, February 5th at Harts Chapel cemetery near Curtis.

Rolland Nelson
(August 27, 1920 - March 7, 2012)

Rolland Nelson age 91 of Pampa, TX, formerly of Arkadelphia, died Wednesday, March 7, 2012. He was born August 27, 1920 the son of John Davis and Hattie Golder Nelson. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII and a member of the Trinity Temple Assembly of God Church in Arkadelphia.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Nora Kathleen Nelson, two sons, Randy (Jennifer) Nelson of Bismarck, Richard (Angie) Nelson of Springfield, MO, one daughter, Janie (Ronnie) Richard of Pampa, TX one sister, Marie Furnatter of Magnolia, TX, a sister-in-law, Leona Nelson of Ft. Smith, AR, six grandsons, Alan Richard, Richie, Joey, Michael, Jeremy, and Aaron Nelson, four granddaughters, Sherri Murray, Tracy Abbott, Joanna Nelson, and Hanna Hawthorne, four great grandsons, Zach Murray, Tyler Lindgren, William Martini, and Elijah Hawthorne, four great granddaughters, Angela Bentley, Terra Lavrenz, Alexis Martini, and Layne Nelson, four great great granddaughters, Aubrey Nelson, Delannie Hawthorne, Arianna Phillips, and Alyssa Diers, two great great grandsons, Bryson and Bradlee Lavrenz.

Funeral services will be 2 PM Monday in the Trinity Temple Assembly of God Church in Arkadelphia with Pastor Rick Mays officiating. Visitation will be 4-6 PM Sunday at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia. Burial will be in the Mt. Tabor cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Hillcrest Children's Home, A G Family service agency, 2325 Malvern Ave., Hot Springs, AR 71901.

Helen Louise Cash
(June 19, 1935 - November 3, 2011)

Helen Louise Cash age 76 of Arkadelphia, passed from this life on Thursday, November 3, 2011 at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. She was born June 19, 1935, in Portland, Oregon the daughter of the late Ivan E. & Lillian Bagley Anderson. Helen was a homemaker and a Baptist. She was preceded in death by her husband James Cash.

Survivors are one son Michael Ivan Cash of Arkadelphia, and one brother Bud Anderson of Woodland, WA.

No services are planned.

Cremation arrangements entrusted to Welch Funeral Home.

James "Randy" Grigsby
(January 29, 1945 - April 23, 2012)

U.S. Veteran
James "Randy" Grigsby age 67 of Hot Springs, passed away Monday, April 23, 2012 at his home. He was born January 29, 1945 in Hot Springs, the son of Jimmie and Pauline McGrew Grigsby Jr.. Randy was a U. S. Air Force veteran serving as a pilot flying C-130 airplanes during Vietnam. He was a certified public accountant in the Mountain Home area. He moved his family to Pine Bluff and was the finance manager for Varco-Pruden Steel Buildings Co. in Pine Bluff and Memphis. After retiring, he moved to Hot Springs. He was a member of Watson Chapel Baptist Church in Pine Bluff.

He was preceded in death by his mother, and his wife, Sherry Hardman Grigsby.

Survivors are one son, Stephen Grigsby of Hot Springs; one daughter, Shay Olson and husband, Kirt of Ft. Campbell, Kentucky; his father, Jimmie Grigsby Jr. of Arkadelphia and five grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, April 28th at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens with Bro. Stan Parris officiating. Visitation will be 10:00 AM Saturday until 10:45 at the funeral home.

Thomas F. Burnett Jr.
(July 18, 1957 - February 26, 2015)

Thomas F. Burnett Jr. age 57, formerly of Friendship, passed away Thursday, February 26, 2015. He was born July 18, 1957 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Thomas and Helen Burnett Sr. Thomas was a Fisheries Biologist, a graduate of Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, a U. S. Army veteran and an avid fisherman.

He is survived by one son, Matthew Burnett of Benton, Arkansas; one daughter, Mandi Burnett of Sacramento, California; his parents, Thomas and Helen Burnett of Friendship; two brothers, Richard Burnett of North Carolina and Ronald Burnett of Friendship; also the mother of his children, Karen Burnett of Sacramento, California.

Memorial services will be at 2:00 PM Friday, March 6th at Harmony Primitive Baptist Church at Donaldson with Bro. Sonny Phelan officiating.

Linda Sue Lynch
(October 22, 1946 - October 11, 2011)

Linda Sue Lynch, age 64 of Arkadelphia passed away October 11 following an accident. She was born in Dermott October 22, 1946 to the late Viola and J.T. Bulloch. She was predeceased by a brother, Wayne. She is survived by her husband Al (Fredde) Lynch, daughter Brooke Deaton (Greg) and grandchildren Noah and Darby Deaton of Arkadelphia, Derin Deaton of Texarkana, Erika Deaton of Fayetteville and great grand-daughter Khloe Deaton, sisters Beverly Farrell (James) of Hot Springs and Sandra Murry (Tommy)of Bastrop, Louisiana.

Linda graduated from Pine Bluff High School and worked as a beautician for a number of years. When she wed Al in 1976 it was with the proviso that she would become a full-time mother to Brooke, entertainment coordinator, laundress, interior decorator, taxi service, botanist, pet handler, sartorial guide, gourmet cook, financial advisor and human relations counselor. In 1983 when Al’s insurance business encountered severe financial distress she went to school, obtained an insurance agent’s license and spent several years conducting a successful rescue. She also took on the design and interior restoration of an historic building in downtown Arkadelphia for Al’s offices and high scale rental apartments in four separate stages. In the 1990’s when her grandchildren came along she felt Al had gained enough of a degree of self-sufficiency for her to dedicate herself in the above capacities to them. She was very successful in her efforts to spoil them to which many can attest. She is remembered for her Sunday night family dinners, especially her chicken pine nut parmesan pasta!

Linda had a special understanding and spiritual relationship with her natural surroundings. Those who knew her and were recipients of her special love will forever remember and cherish her.

Services will be at First United Methodist Church of Arkadelphia Monday, October 17 at 11:00 AM with Brother Carroll Jackson officiating. Visitation will be 4-6 PM, Sunday October 16 at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home. Interment will be at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens following a luncheon after services. Pallbearers are: Noah Deaton, Derin Deaton, Matthew Farrell, Bradley Farrell, Pat Lynch and Mike Lynch. Memorials are requested to: Building Fund-First United Methodist Church of Arkadelphia or Group Living, Inc. of Arkadelphia.

William Joe Bunn Jr.
(February 5, 1953 - January 8, 2013)

William Joe Bunn Jr., age 59 of Arkadelphia, formerly of Okolona died Tuesday January 8, 2013. He was born February 5, 1953 in Brinkley Arkansas to William Joe Sr. and Margie Henderson Bunn.He was a Farmer and a Baptist.

Graveside service will be held 10:00 am Friday January 11, 2013 at Bethel cemetery with Rev. Charlie Williams officiating. There will be no formal visitation.

Bill S. Caldwell
(June 4, 1923 - February 26, 2015)

U.S. Veteran
Dr. Bill S. Caldwell Jr. age 91 of Bismarck died Thursday, February 26, 2015. He was born June 4, 1923 the son of Bill S. and Mable Baugh Caldwell. He was a child psychologist, Army Veteran of WWII, and a member of the Bismarck United Methodist Church. He graduated from Henderson State University with a BA and served as charter president of Heart and Key at HSU, earned his MA from the University of Wyoming and PhD from the University of Texas at Austin. He taught high school in Jacksonville and Mabelvale in Arkansas and junior high in Webster Texas. He worked for eighteen years for the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston and was instrumental in organizing the National Head Start Program. After retirement, he owned and operated book stores in Arkansas and Columbia, Missouri. He also worked as a counselor for Arkadelphia Human Development Center.

He was preceded in death by one son, Dr. Billy S. Caldwell III, one brother, James Caldwell and two sisters, Frances McLean and Mary Katherine Corn.

Survivors include two sons, Phillip A. Caldwell of Galveston, TX and Rev. Michael E. Caldwell and his wife Joyce of Lissie, TX, a daughter-in-law, Sarah Caldwell of Atlanta, GA, four grandsons, Benjamin Caldwell and wife Mary, Jesse and Austin Caldwell and Achilles Estrada and wife Shay and one granddaughter, Athena Estrada.

A memorial service will be held 11 AM Monday, March 2nd at Bismarck United Methodist Church. Memorials may be made to the Bismarck United Methodist Church or to Group Living P. O. Box 159 Arkadelphia, Arkansas 71923.
