JOSEPH “OBIE” OBERMULLER, a resident of Green Forest, Arkansas was born February 6, 1929 in Mitchell, South Dakota a son of Joseph and Minnie (Cunningham) Obermuller. He departed this life Sunday, July 4, 2004 in Green Forest, Arkansas at the age of 75. Mr. Obermuller was a veteran having served his country with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a life-time member of the American Legion and the V.F.W. He was a self-employed computer programer and contractor. On June 20, 1998 he was united in marriage with Sherilyn (Neel) who survives him. He is also survived by his children, Sean Joseph Obermuller of San Diego, California and Sally Jo Vigil of Lakeside, California; three step-children, Diann Mathis of Sedalia, Missouri, Ben Gasper of Green Forest and Amy Graham of Fort Riley, Kansas; six grandchildren, Angela , Adrianna, Aimee, Autum, Andren and Acacia; five step grandchildren, Jason and Jeremy Mathis and Brandon, Jasmine and Rebecca.

KARA ELYSE NIX, a resident of Lima, Peru was born March 7, 2004 in Lima, Peru a daughter of Robert Keith and Melanie Nannette (Ates) Nix. She departed this life Thursday, June 3, 2004 in Peru at the age of 3 months. She is survived by her parents, Keith and Melanie Nix of the home; two brothers, Kirby and Reagan Nix of the home; maternal grandparents, Rev. J.M. and Nancy Ates of Green Forest; her paternal grandparents, Rev. Robert and Patricia Sue Nix of Lima, Peru; her aunt, Sara and Thad Davis of Green Forest; three uncles, Rev. Kevin and his wife Cathy Nix of Santa Cruz, Bolivia, Rev. Kyle and his wife Lora Nix of San Antonio, Texas; and Rev. Kelly and his wife Valerie Nix of Independence, Missouri.

Bobby Miller, a resident of Eureka Springs, Arkansas was born December 26, 1949 in Little Rock, Arkansas the son of Leon Hoyt and Clara Mae (Rich) Miller. He departed this life Saturday, August 21, 2004 in his home at the age of 54.
Mr. Miller was a bartender. He was of the protestant faith.
Survivors include, daughter, Ashley, brother, Danny Miller of Plano, Texas; sister, Clarice Shadid of Las Vegas, Nevada; several other relatives and friends.

Crystal Amy Irene Mendez
CRYSTAL MENDEZ, a resident of Harrison, Arkansas was born February 28, 1977 in Hayward, California a daughter of Danny and Pamela (Little) Smith. She departed this life Sunday, May 31, 2004 in Harrison, Arkansas at the age of 27.
Crystal was a former employee of Tyson Foods.
On September 27, 1999 she was united in marriage with Victor Mendez who survives her. She is also survived by two sons, Daniel Little and Jeremy Mendez both of the home; her grandparents, Carl and Esther Little of Kimberling City, Missouri; two brothers, James Timmons of Green Forest and Jimmy Lee Thompson of Golden, Missouri; a sister, Julie Thompson of Golden, Missouri; several uncles, aunts, cousins and a host of friends.

JOHN L. MCKEE, a resident of Holiday Island, Arkansas, was born January 10, 1956, in Austin, Texas, a son of Edward Dawson and Eula Jean (Mills) McKee. He departed this life Wednesday, July 14, 2004, in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, at the age of 48. John was a member of the Holiday Island Community Church. He is survived by his parents, Bud and Eula Jean McKee of Holiday Island, Arkansas; his sister and brother-in-law, Lorri and Jim Graham of Arkadelphia, Arkansas; two nephews, Ryan Graham and Nicholas Graham both of Arkadelphia, Arkansas; several other relatives; and a host of friends.

DONALD WAYNE McCORMACK, a resident of Berryville, Arkansas was born February 10, 1936 in Neodesha, Kansas. He departed this life Tuesday, July 6, 2004 in his home at the age of 68. Mr. McCormack was a percision machinist who retired from Roseburg Forest Products, Inc. in Roseburg, Oregon. On July 15, 1998 he was united in marriage with Sharon (Barnes) McCormack who survives him. He is also survived by two sons, Donald McCormack, Jr. and Roger McCormack both of Washington state; one daughter, Angie Jennen of Washington state; a step-daughter, Sherrie Moe of Beggs, Oklahoma; a step-son, Dave Fast of Florence, Oregon; three sisters, Teresa Fuerte of Federal Way, Washington, Cecelia Collier of Covington, Washington and Loretta Wolfe of Harrison, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Heather, Richard, Ben and Zach, three great grandchildren, Tyler, Connor, and Dylan; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In 1956 he was united in mariage with Leila (Dean) McCormack who preceded him in death in October of 1993. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Bernice Berrigan and one brother, Dennis Berrigan.

ELMER “DOC” MARTIN, a resident of Shell Knob, Missouri was born May 22, 1927 in Viola, Missouri a son of Thomas Oscar and Annie Mae (Rider) Martin. He departed this life Monday, June 7, 2004 in his home at the age of 77. On October 4, 1952 he was united in marriage with Lola Maxine (Foster ) Martin who prededed him in death in January of 1994. On August 2, 1997 he was united in marriage with Estie (Surber) Martin who survives him. He is also survived by his daughter, Marlene Bundy of Shell Knob; three sons, Terry Martin of Halfway, Missouri, Gary Martin of Golden, Missouri and Kevin Martin of Shell Knob, Missouri; four step-children, Gwen Roberts, Larry Martin, Scott Martin and Rick McEntire all of Berryville, Arkansas; two sisters, Ruth Barker of Larnard, Kansas and Gladys Veach of Shell Knob, Missouri; several grandchildren, and several great grandchildren who will always have fond memories of their “Pops”, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends and neighbors. Other than his first wife he was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and two sisters.

JEAN MURRAY MALLETT, a 29 year resident of Carroll County, residing in both Eureka Springs, and Berryville, Arkansas was born February 2, 1914 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, a daughter of Alexander and Gertrude (Boswell) Murray. She departed this life Wednesday, August 25, 2004 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas at the age of 90. Mrs. Mallett was a member of Presbyterian U.S.A. and the P.E.O. Sisterhood. She was a homemaker. She is survived by three sons, Mark H. Mallett of Eureka Springs, Arkansas, Gordon M. Mallett of Evanston, Illinois and Grant W. Mallett of Shawnee Mission, Kansas; one daughter, Sara Jean Russell of Eureka Springs; one brother, Hugh B. Murray of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. On April 28, 1940 she was united in marriage with Harold M. Mallett who preceded her in death. Her sister, Betty Wos.

ALMA HITTSON LEE, a resident of Green Forest, Arkansas, was born August 17, 1924, in Alpena, Arkansas, a daughter of Ernest Monroe and Margaret (Maggie) Florence (Morris) Davis. She departed this life Sunday, July 18, 2004, in Fayetteville, Arkansas, at the age of 79. Alma was a very hard worker and a homemaker. She attended the First Assembly of God Church in Green Forest. She was a great caretaker and loved her family dearly. She also loved to travel and enjoyed gardening and canning. She was an avid quilter and a member of the Grim Brawley Quilting Club. She is survived by her daughter, June Moore of Rogers, Arkansas; a sister and brother-in-law, Gene and E.W. Doss of Morrilton, Arkansas; two brothers and sisters-in-law, R.T. and Fern Davis of Green Forest, Arkansas, and Frank and Loretta Davis of Berryville, Arkansas; one grandson; one great grandson; two granddaughters; two great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; many other relatives; and a host of friends. On July 22, 1946, she was united in marriage with Burton Hittson who preceded her in death. On August 22, 1972, she married John Lee who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Maggie Davis.

CLAYTON JONES, a resident of 407 Hanby, Berryville, Arkansas, was born December 5, 1919, in Baxter, Missouri, a son of Plesant Marion and Chessie Bowman Johnson Jones. He died Thursday, June 17, 2004, in Berryville, at the age of 84.
Clayton was a farmer and loved to hunt. He was a Christian and loved to sing at various churches. He also sang at Silver Dollar City on several occasions.
On July 16, 1994, he was united in marriage with Mattie (Glocksien) Jones who survives him of the home. He is also survived by three step daughters, Joyce Wood of Urbanette, Arkansas, and Kathy Hopper and Connie Kelley both of Berryville, Arkansas; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; several other relatives; and a host of friends.
On June 27, 1936, he was united in marriage with Elizabeth (Carmical) Jones who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Plesant and Chessie Jones; one sister; and several half brothers and sisters.
He will lie in state 5-8:00 P.M. Sunday, June 20, 2004, at the Charles M. Nelson Memorial Chapel in Berryville. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, June 21, 2004, at the Mt. Olivet Freewill Baptist Church in Blue Eye, Missouri, with Rev. Larry McCreary officiating. Interment will be in the Blue Eye Cemetery.

AGNES LENORA (HATCHER) JOHNSON, a resident of Eureka Springs, Arkansas, was born July 11, 1914, in Eureka Springs a daughter of Benjamin Harrison and Beulah (Ammons) Evans. She departed this life Thursday, May 20, 2004, in Eureka Springs at the age of 89.
Mrs. Johnson was a homemaker and was a cook at the Crescent Hotel. She was a member of the Church of God Holiness in Berryville, Arkansas.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Fred and JoAnn Hatcher of Berryville, Arkansas; her daughter, Pauline Petersen of Springdale, Arkansas; a brother and sister-in-law, Gordon and Shirley Evans of Eureka springs, Arkansas; a sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Earl Wynn of Tulsa, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, Linda Robinson of Berryville, Freddie Hatcher of Green Forest, Arkansas; Betty Ann Baier of Grand Prairie, Texas, Kathy Goodwin of Springdale, Arkansas, Debbie Trieb of Rogers, Arkansas, Steven Petersen of West Fork, Arkansas, and Cindy Carroll of Berryville, Arkansas; seventeen great grandchildren; eighteen great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
On September 18, 1932, she was united in marriage with Jesse W. Hatcher who preceded her in death. Later, she was united in marriage with Elbert Johnson on July 5, 1983, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in her parents, Benjamin and Beulah Evans; infant twin sons; five brothers, Lonnie Evans, Troy Evans, George Evans, Arvil Evans, and Louis Evans; and two sisters, Lucille Worley and Eeva Trammel.

JUNE JACKSON, a resident of Green Forest, Arkansas, was born June 22, 1928, in Denver, Arkansas, a daughter of Perry Clyde and Eunice M. (Clemence) Ayers. She departed this life Monday, June 28, 2004, in Green Forest at the age of 76.
Mrs. Jackson a retired insurance agent for the Farmers Insurance Group. She was a homemaker and of the Protestant Faith.
On August 15, 1942, she was united in marriage with Cleo B. Jackson who survives her of the home. She is also survived by three daughters, Kathy and her husband, Sonny Parker and Faye and her husband, Jim Marshall both of Harrison, Arkansas, and Suzette Jackson of Green Forest, Arkansas; three brothers, Dean Ayers of Stockton, California, Dave Ayers of Hemmett, California, and Bill Ayers of Bakersfield, California; three sisters, Lucille Bailey of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Virginia Jennings of Pea Ridge, Arkansas, and Jeanette Ayers of Austin, Texas; four grandchildren, Tracy Loucks, Jay Parker, Becky Maybee, and Joe Birdsong; five great grandchildren, Jessica Deterts, Rick Jean Blanc, Brylie Parker, Christopher Birdsong, and Tyler Birdsong; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Perry and Eunice Ayers; three brothers, Cleo Ayers, Coy Ayers, and Jimmy Ayers; and one sister, Maybelle Springer.
Memorial donations may be made to the Denver Cemetery, % First National Bank of Green Forest or to St. John's Hospice.

PHYLLIS (LIL) ANN HUSTON, a resident of Holiday Island, Arkansas, was born January 28, 1935, in Parkersburg, West Virginia, a daughter of George Washington and Bertha (Hendershott) Hartshorne. She departed this life Friday, August 20, 2004, in Holiday Island at the age of 69.
Lil retired from school teaching after 41 years, having taught at Ohio University. She was a member of the Holiday Island Presbyterian Church, the Eureka Springs, Arkansas Hospital Guild, and the Holiday Island Fire Department Auxiliary.
On August 11, 1981, she was united in marriage with Rev. Bob L. Huston who survives her of the home. She is also survived by her daughter, Cathy Wonner of Ventura, California; a son, Tom Wonner of Hahira, Georgia; two step sons, Stephen and his wife Janet Huston of Union City, California, and Philip Huston of Pasadena, California; her grandson, Evan Charles Huston of Davis, California; two sisters, Jean Keen of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and Judy Booth of New Port, Ohio; two brothers, Jack Hartshorne of Parkersburg, West Virginia, and Ed Hartshorne of Monogehela, Pennsylvania; several nieces and nephews; other relatives; and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by George and Bertha Hartshorne.

DORIS HOWARD BAUGH, 27, and her daughter, SANTANA MARIE HOWARD, age 6, residents of Berryville, Arkansas, departed this life Friday, August 13, 2004, near Berryville. Doris was born June 5, 1977, in Huntsville, Arkansas, a daughter of Gary Miles and Loretta Mae (Birchfield) Howard. Santana was born July 3, 1998, to William F. and Doris Marie Baugh.
Doris was a homemaker and Santana was a student. They were members of the First Assembly of God Church in Berryville.
On October 3, 1999, Doris was united in marriage with Billy Baugh who survives them of the home. Other survivors include: her children, William Lee Baugh and Ashley Nichole Dacheff both of the home; her brother, Rebel Miles Howard of Green Forest, Arkansas; sisters, Lori Mae Holland and Deanna Malina Grassman both of Berryville; parents, Gary and Loretta Howard of Green Forest; grandfather, Delbert Howard of Berryville; several nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles; other relatives; and a host friends.
Santana is survived by her father, Billy; siblings, William and Ashley; her paternal grandfather, Edwin Baugh of Berryville; maternal grandparents, Gary and Loretta Howard; her great grandparents, Frieda Rebecca Baugh, of Berryville, Ruth Johnson of Lubbock, Texas, and Delbert Howard; several aunts, uncles, cousins; and other relatives and friends.
They were preceded in death by their maternal grandfather (great grandfather); and their paternal grandmother (great grandmother).

KATHY L. GOLDER, a resident of Berryville, Arkansas, was born April 3, 1953, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, a daughter of George D. and Marceen D. (Johnke) Golder. She departed this life August 4, 2004, in Berryville at the age of 51.

JAMES MICHAEL GOINS, a resident of Copperas Cove, Texas, formerly of Green Forest, Arkansas, was born December 6, 1980 in Springfield, Missouri, a son of James (Jim), Jr. and Tammy (DeLozier) Goins. He departed this life Sunday, August 15, 2004 in Najaf, Iraq at the age of 23. Michael was a 2nd Lt. with the United States Army, serving with the First Cavalry Division in Iraq. He was a 1999 graduate of Bonner Springs High School, Bonner Springs, Kansas where he was co-Valedictorian of his graduating class. He attended college at Kansas State University where he received the Superior Cadet Decoration Award, the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and the National Military Scholar Award. He graduated with honors with a Bachlors of Art Degree. Michael was a member of the First Baptist Church in Green Forest, Arkansas On August 4, 2001 he was united in marriage with Paula (Mason) Goins who survives him of the home. Also surviving are his parents, Jim and Tammy Goins of Oak Grove, Arkansas; two sisters, Mandy and her husband Nathan Kilbourn of Oak Grove, Arkansas and Sarah Goins of Oak Grove; and a host of other relatives and friends who mourn his passing.

BERINE CATHEY GIBSON, a resident of Berryville, Arkansas was born April 21, 1919 in Berryville, a daughter of Allen and Melissa (Ross) Cathey. She departed this life Tuesday, June 22, 2004 in Berryville at the age of 85. Mrs. Gibson was a homemaker and attended the Snow Church. She is survived by two sons, Thomas Allen Gibson of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Lyle A. Gibson of Berryville; three daughters, Wilma Villines of Green Forest, Arkansas, Kevilene Gustin of Yellville, Arkansas and Brenda Lowery of Berryville; three sisters, Othella Collins of Berryville, Monta Jones of Shell Knob, Missouri, and Merrel Lemon of Corona, California; ten grandchildren; two great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. On April 13, 1949 she was united in marriage with Boyd Gibson who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Ralston Cathey and one sister, Valdean Cathey.

WILMA JEAN FULTZ, a resident of Green Forest, Arkansas was born May 10, 1932 in the Coin Township of Carroll County, Arkansas a daughter of Tudie and Tressie Faye (Hammons) Usrey. She departed this life Thursday, July 15, 2004 in Berryville, Arkansas at the age of 72.
Mrs. Fultz was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by her two sons, Eric Fultz of Green Forest and Gary and his wife Brenda Fultz of Green Forest; one daugher, Linda and her husband Ted Poyner of Green Forest; one brother, Billy and his wife Pat Usrey of Lakewood, California; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was united in marriage with Joe Noole Fultz who preceded her in death.

HERBERT (TINY) FRYAR, a resident of Green Forest, Arkansas, was born February 1, 1944, in Huntsville, Arkansas, a son of Alvin Harolde and Linda Jessie (Quigley) Fryar. He departed this life Wednesday, August 18, 2004, in Berryville, Arkansas, at the age of 60. On June 7, 2003, he was united in marriage with Janice (McKown) Fryar who survives him of the home. He is also survived by his three sons, Shannon Fryar, Shane Fryar, and Sheldon and his wife, Gwenda Fryar all of Green Forest; three granddaughters, Jacinda, Maegan, and Shelby; one great granddaughter, Alexia; five brothers, Herman Fryar of Green Forest, Ray Fryar of Cookston, Oklahoma, Alvin Fryar, Maxie Fryar, and Johnny Fryar all of Van Buren, Arkansas; his sister, Cumy Kinight of Eureka Springs, Arkansas; several other relatives; and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Linda Fryar; and one son, Shelby Fryar.

GEORGE ROBERT (BOB) EDWARDS, 69, of Shell Knob, Missouri, passed away Saturday, August 7, 2004, in the Veteran Hospital at Fayetteville, Arkansas, after battling cancer for the past several months. He had been in ill health for several years. Bob was born August 19, 1934, in Baxter, Missouri. He was one of five children born to Elmer and Lydia Mills Edwards. Bob served his country in the Marine Corp for two years. He was a retired cattleman and turkey grower. Bob was united in marriage to Betty Meadows, on January 2, 1959, and to this union four children were born, George, Lisa, Sammie, and Paul. He was preceded in death by his four children; his parents; and one brother, Eugene. He is survived by his wife, Betty; one brother, Troy Edwards and spouse Vi of Shell Knob, Missouri; two sisters, Oneta Biggterstaff and Elneta Hayhurst of Lampe, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews. Bob was of the Baptist Faith and attended Gospel Lighthouse when able to attend the services. He will be laid to rest in McCullough Cemetery.
