Charles Nolen Gray
(March 31, 1932 - July 9, 2011)
Charles Nolen Gray, age 79, of Point Cedar passed away quietly at his home on Saturday, July 9, 2011. He was born at Tinsman, Arkansas on March 31, 1932. His parents were Dewey Davied and Birdie Gardner French. He retired from Lion Oil Co. in El Dorado, AR. and was a member of Valley Missionary Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by two brothers, Philip Gray and Davied French.
He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Janette Ogden Gray; his son, Mike Gray and wife Sherry of Jonesboro, AR; sister-in-law, Janice Hughes and husband, Harold of Magnolia, AR; a host of relatives, friends and cousins including a special cousin, Gerald Nutt and wife, Ann of Fordyce, AR.
A celebration of life service will be at 3:00 PM Sunday, July 10th at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia with Bro. Danny Kilcrease officiating. Visitation will 1:30 PM Sunday until service time at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Youth Group at Valley Missionary Baptist Church.
Ruby Nell Garlin
(December 12, 1921 - May 3, 2012)
Ruby Nell Garlin, age 90, of Arkadelphia, died on Thursday, May 3, 2012 at Courtyard Gardens Nursing Center in Arkadelphia. She was born on December 12, 1921 in Batesville, the daughter of the late Roe and Della Weaver Reves. Ruby was a cashier at the local grocery store for over forty years and was a member of Ruddell Hill Baptist Church. She was a member of the Business & Professional Women organization. Ruby was preceded in death by her son, Ansel Ray Garlin and two grandchildren, Sara Low and Allison Teague.
She is survived by two daughters, Bobbie (Mike) Low of Batesville and Rebecca (Al) McDowell of Little Rock, one son, Troy (Billie) Garlin of Arkadelphia, one sister, Roetta (Paul) Hudson of Artesia, NM, one brother, James (Dana) Reves of Batesville, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at Oaklawn cemetery in Batesville with Bro. Ronnie Hardin officiating.
Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:30 PM at Qualls Batesville Funeral Home.

Services are entrusted to Welch Funeral Home of Arkadelphia.
Jack Shepherd
(December 29, 1930 - April 29, 2012)
Jackson Dale "Jack" Shepherd age 81 of Arkadelphia passed from this life on Sunday, April 29, 2012 at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. He was born December 29, 1930 in Arkadelphia the son of the late Arlie Lee and Gertrude Kaufman Shepherd. Jack was a retired carpenter and a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by one brother Daniel Shepherd.
Jack is survived by his wife of 62 years Thelma Mae Ware Shepherd of the home, two sons Gary (Rhonda) Shepherd and Steve (Loretta) Shepherd both of Arkadelphia, three brothers, Raymond Shepherd of Auburn, AL, Don Shepherd of Bella Vista, AR and Roy Shepherd of Cowlett, OK. four grandchildren Stephanie (David) Ammerman, Mike Shepherd, Jessica Morris and Jason (Kim) Shepherd, three great grandchildren, Ashton Ammerman, Jacob Shepherd and Cameron Morris.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, May 1, 2012, at Mt. Pleasant cemetery with Rev. Phillip Runyan and Dr. Marvin Pate officiating.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 12 noon until 2:00 PM at Welch Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Bruce Hixon, Rocky Ware, Brad Dyess, Bryan Davis, David Davis and Scott Johnson.
Honorary pallbearers are Gregg Dyess, Eric Davis, Doug Ware and Rick Smith.

Carles Roy Williams
(March 29, 1934 - May 28, 2011)
Carles Roy Williams age 78 of Bismarck went to be with his Lord on May 28, 2011 in Hot Springs. He was born march 29, 1933 in Bismarck the son of the late Carles and Jessie Wood Williams. He worked for Bismarck School and was self-employed as a mechanic. He was preceded in death by one brother, Murry Williams.
Bro. Williams was a Missionary Baptist preacher for forty-one years. He pastored several churches and helped establish Hilltop Missionary Baptist Church in Pearcy, Arkansas. He was a member and pastor of West Main Missionary Baptist Church in Sparkman, Arkansas. He loved his family, friends, his church and most of all his Lord and Savior.
He is survived by his wife of almost fifty-nine years, Elwanda Shuffield Williams whom he married
on July 21, 1952; three daughters, Diane Burris and husband, Randall; Debbie Garrett and husband, Dickie all of Bismarck, Arkansas; Donna Bost of Arkadelphia, Arkansas; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; three brothers, Hiram Williams of Dallas, Texas; Lee Williams and Johnny Williams both of Bismarck, Arkansas and one sister, Joyce Warman of Magnet Cove, Arkansas.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, May 31st at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home Chapel in Arkadelphia with Bernard Strother and Pat Greer officiating. Burial will be in Hickory Grove cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Monday at the funeral home.
Larry Wayne Hogue
(May 18, 1946 - April 21, 2012)
Larry Wayne Hogue, age 65, of Arkadelphia (formerly of Gurdon) passed from this life on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at his home. He was born on May 18, 1946 in Manning, the son of James Millard and Eva Bertha Wingfield Hogue. Larry worked as a principal and teacher around Arkansas and was a member of First Baptist Church in Gurdon. He was a 1964 graduate of Gurdon High School and received a masters degree in education from Henderson State University. Larry spent the last twenty-five years as a care giver for his father and mother. He was preceded in death by his father.
Larry is survived by his mother, Eva Hogue of Arkadelphia, two brothers and their wives, Charles and Kay Hogue of Sherwood and Jimmy and Linda Gayle Hogue of Gurdon, one niece, Whitney Lincoln and her husband, Graham, three nephews, David, Michael and Jesse Hogue, great niece, Brittany Hogue, and great nephew, Henry Lincoln.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, April 23, 2012 at Rose Hedge cemetery in Gurdon, with Bro. Mike Taylor officiating.
No visitation will be held.

The family will gather at the home of Jimmy and Linda Gayle Hogue in Gurdon.
Bob Edward Lee

Robert Edward Lee age 80 of Arkadelphia died Sunday, April 1, 2012 in Little Rock. He was born October 24, 1931 in Clark County the son of John Kenneth and Louise Ross Lee. Bob was a retired Colonel in the Army Reserve, a member of the Reserve Officers Association, a graduate of Command and General Staff College, Degray Golf Association, a retired accountant and postal worker and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Arkadelphia. He was preceded in death by a sister, Beth Stephens.
Survivors include his wife Pauline McCaskill Lee, three daughters, Rebecca Reed and her husband Sherman of Ft. Myers Beach, Florida, Pamela Rowe and her husband Ken and Melinda Haney and her husband David all of Arkadelphia, and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2 PM Thursday, April 5th at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Chapel. Burial with full military honors will be in the Mt. Zion cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 PM Thursday till service time at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: Vera Lloyd Home in Monticello, AR, Humane Society of Clark County, or Arkansas Children's Hospital.
Randy Land
(January 12, 1961 - July 1, 2012)
Randy Land, age 51 of Okolona, died Sunday, July 1, 2012 in Hot Springs. He was born January 12, 1961 in Malvern, AR, the son of Harroll Jerry and Thelma Sue Efurd Land. He was a member of Sycamore Church. Randy was very active in the Arkadelphia and surrounding areas, was the owner/operator of Arkadelphia Pool & Supply, a bus driver for Gurdon Public Schools, served as the Youth Pastor at Sycamore Church, as Fire Chief of Gum Springs Volunteer Fire Department and was a First Responder for Clark County.
Randy is survived by his wife, Belinda Burton Land, one son, Justin Land and wife Nicole, one daughter, Jessica Land, two grandsons Mason & Dixon Land all of Okolona; his father & mother, Jerry & Susie Land of Hot Springs; one brother Ronnie Land of Curtis and his maternal grandmother Thelma McCray of Malvern.
Services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 4th in Ruggles-Wilcox Chapel with Chad Cox and Ronnie Vanderslice officiating. Burial will be at Bethel cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Carlin Phillips, Donald Benson, Mike Sanders, Jay Riley, Kenny Taylor, Steve Allen, Brad Loy and Dustin Self. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Gum Springs Fire Department and Clark County First Responders. Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association or American Kidney Foundation.
Cheryl Lynn Hayes

Cheryl Lynn Hayes, age 26, of Hope, passed from this life on Monday, April 16, 2012 at Wadley Regional Medical Center in Texarkana, TX. She was born on December 30, 1985 in Shreveport, LA, the daughter of Larry Gene and Sandra Rene Harper Bates.
Cheryl is survived by her mother and stepfather, Rene and Robert Jones of Arkadelphia, her father, Larry Bates of Rosston, one sister, Sara Burley of Homer, LA, one brother, Timothy Brady of Hope and her grandmother, Treva Harper of Arkadelphia.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, April 20, 2012 at Welch Funeral Home in Arkadelphia with Rev. Billy Sanders officiating.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers are Christopher Storar, Joel Alberson, Zach Curtis, Frank Flores, Duke Dixon, Jacob Hodges, B.J. Ververmillion and D. Ray Harrison Jr.

Ruth E. Douville
(July 30, 1927 - November 25, 2011)
Ruth E. Douville, 84, of Amity Arkansas, passed away Friday November 25, at her residence. Born July 30th 1927 in Maywood Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Florence Woltman.
In addition to her parents, her husbands Robert William Silber and Frank Edward Douville, and her brother Robert F. Woltman of Chicago preceded Ruth in death.
Ruth is survived by her sister Dorothy Runnion of the Chicago area and brother Donald Woltman of Pekin Illinois, and her sons Steven Keith Silber and his wife Connie of Bryan Texas, Thomas Brian Silber and his wife Linda of Ormond Beach Florida, Rev. Robert Christian Silber and his wife Karen of Conover NC, and Frederick Frank Douville and his wife Julie of Amity Arkansas. Her grandchildren are Eric Silber and wife Carla of Austin Texas, Kyle Silber and wife Katie of Allen Texas, Kimberly Brogan and husband Job Voit of NC, Jason Douville and wife Katie of Grand Island NY, and Jamie Douville of Amity Arkansas, along with great-grandchildren Nina Ruth Silber, Seth Elijah Silber, Camron Brogan, Caleb Ferguson as well as many nieces and nephews.
Ruth was a life-long member of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, joining congregations of the various communities in which she lived. Not only did she live her faith but also she passed her faith along to those she touched. Her greatest joy was in the family she raised, praying that her sons would be Christians who were faithful to God. Ruth’s prayers were answered as all four sons, and their families, are committed Christians who are active in their churches with a faithful witness of Jesus Christ. She worked as a bookkeeper for Oaklawn Community High School in Oak Lawn Ill., the family business of Douville & Sons Heating, Air Conditioning and Fuel Oil in Deland Fla., and Lake Beresford Yacht Club in Deland Fla.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, (PO Box 195 Dayton, Tn. 37321-0195), Hospice (Hospice Home Care 3955 Central Ave. Suite #6 Hot Springs Ar. 71913), or the charity of your choice in Ruth’s memory.
A memorial service will be held on December 7th, 1 pm, at DeLand Memorial Gardens in DeLand Florida with the Rev. Holmes Beausang officiating. The family will receive friends (prior to and/or following) the service.
