Daphne Wood
(May 28, 1927 - January 11, 2013)

Daphne Lea Wood, age 85 of Little Rock, formerly of Arkadelphia, passed from this life on Friday, January 11, 2013 at Hospice Home Care in Little Rock. She was born May 28, 1927 in Willow, Arkansas the daughter of the late Jesse and Maggie Kitchen Reynolds. Daphne was a homemaker, a member of Third Street Baptist Church and attended Henderson Methodist Church in Little Rock. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Doyle Lea, her second husband, Marshall Wood, one son, Doyle Wayne Lea, and seven sisters.

Daphne is survived by one daughter, Fonda Courtney (Richard) Ayers of Little Rock, one son, Bo (Brenda) Lea of Glenwood, one step son, Leslie (Carolyn) Wood of Arkadelphia, daughter in law, Sue Lea of Conway, seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren .

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at Welch Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Frase officiating.

Interment will be in Delamar cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until service time on Tuesday.

Pallbearers will be Steve Lewis, Brad Farmer, Brantley Jarrell, Jonathan Mariner, Hunter Newberry and Michael Babb.

Memorials may be made to Delamar cemetery Fund, c/o Donnie Denton, 2228 N Hwy 7, Sparkman, AR 71763.

Final arrangements are entrusted to The Welch Funeral Home of Arkadelphia.

Charles Wilson Thomason
(July 22, 1936 - January 8, 2013)

Charles Wilson Thomason, age 76 of Bismarck, passed from this life on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Mercy Hospital in Rogers, Arkansas. He was born July 22, 1936 in Clark County, the son of the late John Fletcher and Eunice Mae Whitley Thomason. Charles retired from Levi Strauss, was a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, a member of Arkadelphia Masonic Lodge #381 and a Shriner. He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Daggett Thomason, three brothers, Carroll, Herschel and John Rush Thomason, and four sisters, Edith Lee, Grace Cooley, Hazel Brosman and Lucille Sams.

Charles is survived by one daughter, Tammy (Joe) Frazier Beeler of Rogers, one son, Mike (Donna) Thomason of Bryant, one step son, one step daughter, one brother, Cecil (Shirley) Thomason of Bismarck, one sister, Jean (Bob) Cansler of Bismarck, seven grandchildren, Chris and Ricky Frazier Jr., Mickey, Aaron and Timothy Thomason, Jordan and Ashley Young, and eleven great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Welch Funeral Home in Arkadelphia.

Interment will be in DeRoche cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Ray Miller, Donald Morrison, Terry Thomason, Frank Thomason, David Thomason and Russell Hynds.

Memorials may be made to Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 230 East Ohio Street, Suite 304, Chicago, IL 60611 or the DeRoche cemetery Fund, C/O Carl Hardage, 2199 Hwy 128, Bismarck, AR 71929.

Lola Edris Purifoy
(January 7, 1933 - November 29, 2011)

Lola Edris Davis Purifoy, age 78, of Okolona died Tuesday, November 29, 2011 in Arkadelphia. She was born January 7, 1933 in Okolona, the daughter of the late Rosmond and Floy Manning Davis. Edris was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church near Whelen Springs, worked at Levi's Straus and Ouachita Marine in Arkadelphia.

Her husband, Robert "Bob" Purifoy; a brother, Travis "Sonny" Davis and a sister, Maxine Davis Cox preceded her in death.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM Friday, December 2nd at Smyrna cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Thursday at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.

Helen Long
(October 10, 1934 - January 6, 2013)

Helen Ruth Long age 78 of Arkadelphia passed from this life on Sunday, January 6, 2013 at Arkansas Hospice in Hot Springs. She was born October 10, 1934 in Dyersburg, TN the daughter of the late Finis Garrett and Ernestine Beason Hall. Helen was retired as the HR director for the Arkadelphia Human Development Center and a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Long, one son, Stephen Long, one grandson, Curtis Foltz, one brother, Bobby Gene Hall, two sisters, Doris Grimsley and Bessie Tate.

Helen is survived by one son, Robert Long of Arkadelphia, two daughters, Laura (Gary) Vaughan of Hot Springs Village and Valerie (Jared) Phillips of Texarkana, TX, eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, January 11, 2013 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Ray Franklin officiating.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday at Welch Funeral Home.

Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers are grandsons, Zachary Long, Randy Foltz, Benjamin Phillips, Joel Phillips, Matthew Phillips and Curtis Foltz.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Tribute Program, P.O. Box 1000, Dept 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142.

Margaret Sanders Tarpley
(March 13, 1925 - December 27, 2012)

Margaret Sanders Tarpley age 87 of Bismarck passed from this life on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at her home. She was born March 13, 1925 in Beaton, the daughter of the late Lonnie Dozier Sutton and Primmie Lee Grigsby Bingham. Margaret was retired from the K-Mart jewelry department and a member of Pleasant Hill Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her first husband of forty five years, Henry Myrl Sanders and her second husband, Roy Tarpley, two sisters, Maureen Deichmeister and Pauline Pasley.

Margaret is survived by one daughter, Sandy (Larry) Matlock of Bismarck, one son, Ed Sanders of Bismarck, two sisters, Alpha Urisch of San Pedro, CA and Donna Jackson of Donaldson, two brothers, Melvin Bingham of Bismarck and Lindsey Sutton of Mesquite, TX, eight grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Pleasant Hill Church of Christ with Bro. Chris Morrison and Doug Fendley officiating.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday at Welch Funeral Home.

Interment will be in the Pleasant Hill cemetery.

Danny Ray Tedder
(May 25, 1949 - December 27, 2012)

Danny Ray Tedder age 63 of Arkadelphia passed from this life on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at his home. He was born May 25, 1949 in Hot Springs, the son of the late O'Dean and Estelleen Dillard Tedder. Danny was a millwright and co-owner of Donna's Duckling's Daycare in Arkadelphia for many years. He was a United States Army veteran and a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Glenwood and attended First Church of the Nazarene in Caddo Valley. Danny was preceded in death by one son, James Bonner, one daughter, Angie Tedder and one sister Pat Holstein.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Smith Tedder of the home, five sons, Billy (Misty) Tedder of Glenwood, Matthew (Amy) Tedder of Apex, NC, Pete (Connie) Bonner, Colton Andrew James Bonner and Eric McKim all of Arkadelphia, two daughters, Stacy (Eric) Burtness, and Katlynn McKim both of Arkadelphia, four sisters, Jackie Beamon of Summerville, IN, Elaine Cox of Glenwood, Shelly Tedder of Mena and Freda Jones of Alexandria, IN, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, December 31, 2012 at Welch Funeral Home with Rev. Mel Vail officiating.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home.

Interment with Full Military Honors will be at 3:00 PM Monday, December 31, 2012 at Bethel cemetery in Glenwood with Rev. Harold Turner officiating.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 901 N University, Little Rock, AR 72207.

Nancy Virginia Jackson

Nancy Virginia Jackson age 92 of Hensley passed from this life on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. She was born January 25, 1920 in Newport, the daughter of the late Samuel Sylvester and Ida Belle O'Neal Hale. Nancy was a retired Nurse and a homemaker and a member of Arkadelphia Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifton Morris Jackson, one son, Clifton Eugene Jackson, one sister, Enola Robinette, three brothers, Sydrick, J.M. and L.Z. Hale.

Nancy is survived by one daughter, Barbara Brown of Hensley, one sister, Viola Peebles of Newport, one daughter in law, Geneva Jackson of Gurdon, six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, one great, great grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM on Sunday, December 23, 2012 at Welch Funeral Home with Pastor Ricky Tipton officiating.

Visitation will be from 1:30 PM until service time at the funeral home on Sunday.

Interment will be in the Southfork cemetery.
