GEORGE W. JOHNSON
September 26, 1939 - January 10, 2012

George W. Johnson, 72, of Hot Springs died January 10, 2012.

He was born September 26, 1939 to the late Hilleary Loyd Jack and Ida Mae (McNeal) Johnson.

George retired from Weyerhaeuser, was a janitor at Mountain Pine Elementary, and was a member of Lake Hamilton First Assembly of God.

He will be remembered as an avid outdoorsman and hunter of deer, turkey and quail.

George is preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years Gay Elaine Johnson; one daughter, Kathy Crossett (Randy) of Bryant; one brother Richard Dean Johnson of Mountain Pine; one sister Mary Jo Campo of Hot Springs, and one grandchild Hannah Elizabeth Box of Bryant.

Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home.

Service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Lake Hamilton First Assembly of God with Bro. Wes Bennett and Bro. Doug Adams officiating.

Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens.

Anita C. Holland
November 30, 1946 - January 15, 2012

Anita C. Holland, 65, of Hot Springs passed away Sunday, January 15, 2012.

She was born November 30, 1946 in Chicago, Illinois to Walter Herman and Dolores Little Lauterbach.

Anita was a member of Cowboy Church in Hot Springs.

She is predeceased by her parents and brother, Walter Lauterbach.

Anita is survived by husband, Doyle Holland of Hot Springs; sister, Dee Spradling of Justin, Texas; son, Melvin Silveira, Jr. of California; stepsons, Kenny Holland of North Little Rock and Gary Holland of Arizona; daughter, Leoni Davis of Midland, Texas; stepdaughter, Sandra Holland of Little Rock; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild; niece, Shannon (Keith) Clark of Justin, Texas; and nephews, Richard Carrera of Alford, Texas and Leon W. Spradling of Justin, Texas.

Memorial service will be 1:00 p.m. Monday in Caruth-Hale Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Harvey Purdue officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society or Arkansas Hospice.

Harley F. Kelley

Harley F. Kelley, 68, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, died Saturday, January 14, 2012.

He was born March 31, 1943 in Hot Springs to the late Walter Henry and Ella Mae (McDaniel) Kelley.

He is preceded in death by his parents; three sisters: Winnie Britenburg, Billie Mothershed, and Dorthy Bramlett; and two brothers Clarence Kelley and Clifford Kelley.

He is survived by his daughter - Diana Kelley Livingston; one grandchild Chaz Livingston both of Charleston, South Carolina; and the mother of Diana, Barbara Kelley of Hot Springs, Arkansas.

Visitation will be from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home.

Graveside service will be at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at Morning Star cemetery with Bro. Stacy Sanders officiating.

Pallbearers include Charles Kelley, Clifford Kelley, Joseph Joe Bramlett, Bobby Sluppick, Nolan Bramlett.

Honorary pallbearers include St. Joseph Mercy Center Nursing Staff on fourth and fifth floors and Dr. Robert Muldoon.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Morning Star cemetery.

Walter M. Kierstyn, Sr.
July 22, 1929 - January 13, 2012

Walter M. Kierstyn, Sr., 82, of Hot Springs Village passed away January 13, 2012.

He was born July 22, 1929 in Racine, WI to Mike and Stella Kierstyn.

Walter was a U.S. Army veteran and retired after 39 years of service with Wisconsin Natural Gas and Electric.

He was a member of Community of Joy Lutheran Church.

He was predeceased by his parents.

Walter is survived by his wife of 47 years, Bonnie Kierstyn of Hot Springs Village; sons, Walter (Susan) Kierstyn, Jr. of Osseo, WI and David Kierstyn of Racine; daughter, Kathy (Rick) Leonard of Racine; brother, Charles (Jackie) Kierstyn of Racine; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Denise and Kermit Barker, Marie and Larry Hove, Sandi and Wendell Hutson, Shelly Sweers, Darrell and Jerri Gister, Jeff and Sue Gister, Barbara Prince and Leo Gister III.

Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. January 31, 2012 at Community of Joy Lutheran Church with Pastor Ross Worch officiating.

Interment will follow in Memorial Garden at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Community of Joy Lutheran Church Memorial Garden.

Mary Louise Lankford
October 1, 1932 - January 16, 2012

Mary L. Lankford, 79, Hot Springs, Arkansas passed away January 16, 2012 from complications due to colon cancer.

She was born October 1, 1932, in Richland, Iowa, to Fremont and Gladys Hendrickson.

She married Eugene L. Lankford on July 20, 1952, in Lynwood, California.

Mary earned a degree in Elementary Education from Iowa Wesleyan College and taught for twenty years at a variety of grade levels.

Mary and Eugene lived in various cities in Iowa and Illinois before retiring to Hot Springs, Arkansas in 2003.

She is survived by her devoted husband of fifty-nine years, Eugene; her daughters, Jan Caldwell (Joel), Urbandale, Iowa and Julie Davis and her husband Richard Barker, Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin; one grandson, Christopher Lehnertz, Waukee, Iowa; three sisters Gretchen Howald, Patricia Houtz (Robert), Margaret Alderson (Jack); one sister-in-law Bette Hendrickson; four nieces and five nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by Eugene's parents, Merle and Alvina Lankford and her brother, Robert Hendrickson.

No visitation is planned.

Interment will be at the Iowa Veteran's cemetery in Van Meter, Iowa at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the Hot Springs YMCA and Arkansas Hospice.

Vernon Lynn Gissel
February 16, 1941 - January 16, 2012

Vernon Lynn Gissel, 70, of Malvern, died January 16, 2012.

He was born February 16, 1941 in Independence, Iowa to Fay Andrew and Alice Estella (Polk) Gissel.

Vernon served in the United States Army.

He is predeceased by his parents, brothers, Delwin and Harvey Gissel and sisters, Sherilyn Ferguson and Earline Donnally.

Loving survivors include his wife, Lelaida (Pacubas) Gissel, son, Adam Eugene Gissel, daughter, Tarisa Lynn Gissel, brother, Wilferd Gissel, Sisters, Norene Gissel, Wyvona Kurtz and Naomi Payne, grandchildren, Kelsey Fratt and Austin Isakson and great-grandchild, Ernie Quijada IV.

A memorial services will be 2:00 P.M., Saturday at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home with full military honors by V.F.W. Thaddeus H. Callaway Post #2278.

William F. "Bill" Doran
July 28, 1941 - January 17, 2012

William F. 'Bill' Doran, resident of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, passed away on January 17, 2012 at the age of 70.

Mr. Doran was born on July 28, 1941, in Teaneck, New Jersey, the son of Helen and Michael.

He spent his formative years in Milwaukee, WI and graduated from Marquette University with a degree in Engineering.

He worked for Square D Company for 28 years and retired to HSV from Southland Electrical in 2005.

Bill Doran is survived by his wife Susan of Hot Springs Village, his son Bill Doran and daughter-in-law Diane of Dallas, TX, his daughter Kelly Schreckenberger and son-in-law David of Lawrenceville, GA, three grandchildren, Elaina, Lou, and Madison, and his brother, Fr. Robert M. Doran, S.J. of Milwaukee, WI.

Mr. Doran was preceded in death by both his parents and his son, Jeremy Doran.

Recently asked by his granddaughter Elaina for his philosophy of life, Bill stated: 'With the right attitude - Life is beautiful. And I think that it is extraordinarily beautiful.'

Bill Doran lived an extraordinarily beautiful life and will be missed dearly by all those who loved him.

Bill Doran was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hot Springs Village.

The family asks that donations in memory of Bill be made to the American Cancer Society.

Visitation will be 5:30-6:30 p.m. Friday at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with Rosary recited at 6:30 p.m.

Funeral mass will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church with Father Bill Elser as celebrant.

Letha Mae Jackson
April 2, 1919 - January 15, 2012

Letha Mae Jackson, 92, of Hot Springs, Arkansas went home to be with the Lord Sunday, January 15, 2012.

She was born April 2, 1919 to the late Joseph and Janie (Neighbors) Harbin.

She retired from Lake Catherine Footwear and was a member of Fairdale Baptist Church.

She should be remembered as a devoted prayer warrior; humble in character and a true believer in her Savior - Jesus Christ.

Letha Mae was a true Proverbs 31 woman.

She is preceded in death by her husband Dallas Jackson; husband Roy Jackson; sons Darrell and Woodrow Jackson and daughter Rita Jackson.

She is survived by her son Doyle Jackson and wife Janie, daughters Brenda Tigue and husband Henry all of Hot Springs and Barbara Black and husband Ronnie of Cherokee Village, Arkansas; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; eleven great-great-grandchildren; not related but considered a son - Doyle Walker.

Visitation will be from 6:00 ' 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home.

Service will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Brother Bernard Rusert officiating.

Burial will follow at Godwin cemetery.

Pallbearers include Dean Jackson, Charles Jackson, Jason Black, Nicholas Jackson, Dallas Jackson and Jesse Godwin.

Honorary pallbearers include Alan and Timothy Black, Bradly Jackson, Ronnie Black, Henry Tigue, Gary Jackson, Gary Clarkson, and the Larry Smith Sunday School Class.
