Lettie Caroline Hill, a longtime resident of Berryville, passed away on Friday, November 27, 2015 at Autumn Hill. She was born on July
25, 1932 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.
Lettie was married
to Harry Hill on September 6, 1951; they were
married
nearly 49 years until Harry’s death on August 7, 2000. They
are survived by three children, Linda Alan of Melbourne, Florida, Ed
Hill of Kansas City, Missouri and Sandy Hill of Albuquerque, New
Mexico, as well as one grandchild, Berry Maupin of Orlando, Florida.
Lettie is survived by three sisters, Dorothy Foster of Huntsville, Alice
Studer of St. Louis, Missouri and Nellie Rice of Mobile, Alabama
and one brother, Henry Evans of Abilene, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her brothers Jim Evans of Clearfield,
Utah; Charlie Evans of St. Louis, Missouri and her sister Maggie
Elmore of Berryville, Arkansas.
Lettie spent much of her life employed in caring for others, at both the
nursing home and later assisting the elderly in their homes. Lettie was
a longtime member of Freeman Heights Baptist Church.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday,
December 5, 2015 at the Grandview cemetery in Grandview,
Arkansas.
The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for Lettie over the
last few years, especially Carolyn Baldwin and the staff of Autumn
Hill.

Benjamin Gee Hines

The Reverend Doctor Benjamin Gee Hines, 88, of Bentonville, AR
passed away Friday, August 28, 2015 at Mercy Hospital in Rogers
surrounded by his family. He was born February 13, 1927 in
Smackover, AR to Carl Benjamin Hines and Cleo Gee Hines.
Ben married
Maxine McCauley on August 31, 1947. They met in college
at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, AR and he was
immediately smitten. They were cheerleaders together before WWII
took him over seas. Having survived being separated by the Army - and
one ‘Dear John’ letter - they married
their senior year.
After a short career of teaching, coaching Jr. High football, and being
appointed the youngest High School Principal in Camden, AR, Ben
ventured on to be on staff at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.
It was there he discovered God had other plans for him. So he, Maxine,
Susan age 5 and David age 2 ½ packed up the car and headed for Perkins
school of Theology on the SMU Campus in Dallas TX. In 1961 Ben
received his 2nd Master’s Degree - this one a Masters of Divinity.
In Ministry, he served as Sr. Pastor in United Methodist Churches across
Arkansas in Camden, Little Rock, West Memphis, Forrest City District
Superintendent, Bentonville, Fort Smith and Rogers. While living in
Dallas he was on staff at Highland Park United Methodist Church. He
served for 40 plus years in the ministry as Pastor and Superintendent.
During his years in the ministry Ben served on the Board of Trustees for
Methodist Hospital in Memphis TN and the Board of Trustees for
Hendrix College in Conway, AR. In the United Methodist Church he
was a board member for the NW Arkansas Conference of Finance and
Administration and Chair of the NW Arkansas Nominating Committee.
Locally, he was a member of the Community Leadership Team to
establish NWACC and a member of Rotary Club.
In 1992 Ben and Maxine retired to Bentonville in their first ever home
that was not a parsonage but their ministry continued even in retirement.
He served as the Associate Pastor at First United Methodist Church in
Bentonville and later as Pastor Emeritus.
He was preceded in death by Maxine on June 22nd of this year after 68
years of marriage. And as one friend wrote, ‘Their love affair now
continues’.
Ben is survived by one son, David Gee Hines and wife, Susan of
Edmond OK; one daughter, Susan Kennedy and husband Pat of
Bentonville; four grandchildren, Ben Bogle and wife, Sarah of
Sandestin, FL, Erin Easley and husband, Jason of Gravette, AR, Scott
Hines of Oklahoma City, OK, Megan Gaines and husband, Zac of
Edmond, OK; six great-grandchildren, Halie Easley, Brittney Easle,
Lukas Easley, Harper Gaines, Tatum Gaines, Annie Gaines; and one
sister, Carolyn Rix of Hot Springs, AR.
Pallbearers are members of the Masculine Journey Sunday School Class:
Tim Summers, Ted Viala, Bruce Safreed, Rodger Dickinson, Ed Adair,
Garry Carroll, Mel Redman, David Torres, Jimmy Wright, Greg Fogle,
David Hudgins, Brad Anderson, Johnny Haney, Doug Speight and
Roger Thomas.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at
Stockdale-Moody Funeral Services of Rogers.
Funeral services will be at 12:00 Noon, Wednesday, September 2, 2015
at First United Methodist Church in Bentonville with the Rev. Dr. Kurt
Boggan and the Rev. Rex Dickey officiating. Burial will follow in
Bentonville cemetery.

Maj. Edward Lee Knox
January 2, 1937 - March 6, 2015

Maj. Edward Lee Knox, 78, of Bentonville, AR, a retired USAF Veteran,
passed from this life into eternal glory in Bentonville, Arkansas at Circle of
Life Legacy Village, Friday, March 6, 2015. He was born in Wewoka, OK
on January 2, 1937 to Ray B. and Retha Wooldridge Knox.
He was an All-State Athlete for Bentonville High School, graduating with
the Class of 1955. He attended the University of Arkansas and Ouachita
Baptist University, before entering the Air Force Cadet program. He
graduated in 1959 and married
Jennie Crouse in the Chapel at First Baptist
Church in Bentonville.
Maj. Knox flew the F106, F100, and F4 Fighter Planes, serving time in
South Korea, the Philippines, Vietnam and Thailand. He retired to
Bentonville and has enjoyed backpacking the mountains of Colorado, the
Buffalo River and Beaver Lake. The focus in all he did was for the Lord
and what he could do for others.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jennie; daughter, Barbara Knox
(Jim) Pennell of Marquette, MI; son, Joel (Melissa) of Grove, OK;
granddaughters, Lydia (Andy) Adams of Detroit, MI, Morgan Knox and
Kendall Knox of Grove, OK; grandsons, Aaron Clemins (Ashley), Phil
Pennell (Britta) of Marquette, MI, Zachary and Zane Knox of Grove, OK;
two brothers, Ray (Karen) Knox of Bella Vista, AR and Al and Jane Knox
of Prairie Creek, AR.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at First
Baptist Church in Bentonville.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 am, Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at First
Baptist Church in Bentonville with the Rev. Tom Smith officiating.
Private burial will be at Mt. Pleasant cemetery in Hiwasse, AR with full
military honors.

Floyd 'Gene' Kirby
June 6, 1927 - May 28, 2015

Floyd 'Gene' Kirby, 87 of Rogers, AR passed away Thursday, May 28,
2015 at Jamestown Nursing and Rehab. He was born June 6, 1927 to
Fred and Catherine Forquer Kirby.
Gene proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII. After his
service, he painted homes for many many years.
He was known for sharing his homemade raspberry jelly and chow-
chow with friends and family. He loved fishing, time in the woods and
growing a garden.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three grandchildren.
Gene is survived by his wife of 65 years, Opal Pauline; one son, Scott
Kirby and wife, Linda of Rogers, AR; three daughters, Debbie Hargrave
and husband, Russ of Rogers, AR, Susan Norton and husband, Randy of
Centerton, AR and Vicki Booherand and husband, Danny of Rogers, AR;
three siblings, Charles Kirby, Bobbie Brooks and Doris Gilvin; eight
grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5-7pm, Monday, June 1, 2015 at Stockdale-
Moody Funeral Services.
Graveside services will be held at 10 am, Tuesday, June 2, 2015at
Barron cemetery with Pastor Shane Pair and Lynn Brown officiating.
Leroy Beryl 'Lee' McCann

Leroy Beryl 'Lee' McCann, 79, of Bentonville, Arkansas passed away May 28, 2015 at Circle of Life Legacy Village in Bentonville. He was
born October 31, 1935 in Valley City, North Dakota to Cecil Beryl
McCann and Mary Christine Schwehr McCann.
He proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean War Era.
Lee loved to work with his hands doing yard work, woodwork and
fishing. He enjoyed all these things so much better when he had his
children and grandchildren beside him.
He loved The Lord with all his heart and was a faithful husband, father,
grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. Lee and his wife, Vonnie had
such a great love for family that while raising their own children they
opened their home to over 50 very much loved foster children in a 15
year period.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Richard McCann in
1999; one brother, Mike McCann and one sister, Betty Deymenaz.
Lee is survived by his wife of 58 years, Vonnie Wright McCann;
children, Lester McCann and wife, Kathy of Bentonville, Arkansas,
Rousha Gauthier and husband, Bruce of Orlando, Florida, Cindy
Limson and husband, Steve of Bentonville, Arkansas, Jeremy McCann
and wife, Michelle of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, Michelle 'Mitchell'
Hayes and husband, John of Pea Ridge; two god-daughter's, Ginny
Walls of Washington and Mary Christine McCann Deal of Nashville,
Tennessee; grandchildren, Garry Cole, Kaley and Jon Nelson, Lola and
Andy Cable, Thomas and Ashley Cole, Stephen and Ashley Limson,
Christopher and Jonnetta McCann, Alora McCann, Jenni 'Foo Foo, '
Murch and husband, Levi, Paul Baker, Dustin Baker, and Richard
