Lillie Mae Dearman, 93, of Cabot died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2006.
She was preceded in death by her husband James Dearman; son Jerry Sloan Dearman; daughter Kathrine Moseley; three brothers; and four sisters.
She is survived by her son James Dearman of Sheridan; 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandchild.
Graveside services were held Saturday, Dec. 2, at Sumner cemetery in Cabot.

Geneva Scroggin, 74, of Ward died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2006.

Wanda Jo Ashcraft
Wanda Jo Ashcraft, 75, of Dewitt died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2006.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she was pianist and organist for many years.
She taught music in the DeWitt and Eudora Public Schools, and gave private piano lessons in her home and was a member of Arkansas Retired Teacher’s Association.
She was preceded in death by her parents George (Porgie) and Doris Mill and a grandchild Joana Mills Bing.
Survivors include her husband Bobby Ashcraft; son Steve Ashcraft and wife Ruth of DeWitt; daughters Bobbye Jo Bing and husband Buck of Cabot, Jean Ann Henry and husband Clay of Fayetteville, and Nancy Corley and husband Doug of Morrilton; sister Mary Jean Horton and husband Don of DeWitt; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 4, at First Baptist Church, with burial in DeWitt cemetery by Essex Funeral Home.

Doris D. Norris
Doris D. Norris, 79, of Effingham died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006.
She was a homemaker, and was a Chaplain and President of the local Eagles Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond H. Norris, Sr., daughter Donna C. Strikland, parents Cash A. and Minnie C. (Woodall) Stone, brothers Clarence, Roy, and Clyde Stone, sisters Mary Lucille Raley, Treva Stone, Lillie Smith, Bonnie Sisco, and Norma Chisum.
Survivors include her sons Raymond H. Norris, Jr. of Effingham and Lawrence E. Norris of Charleston; stepsons Michael J. Norris and wife Glenda of Cabot, and ames H. Norris of wife Elaine of Willow Springs; daughters Charlotte L. Norris, Mary L. Hoffman and husband Daniel, Deborah C. Grigg and husband Kevin, and Connie M. Brockett and husband Richard all of Effingham; stepdaughter Donna DePaola of Effingham; sister Patricia G. Barbaree and husband Michael; 16 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 6, at MA Neal Funeral Home with burial in Arborcrest cemetery both in Effingham.
Dinner will follow at KC Hall in Effingham.

Marsell E. Brooks
Marsell Ellen Brooks, 88, of Jacksonville, died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2006.
She was a devout Christian and a member of Lighthouse Tabernacle.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Virgil L. Brooks; son Jackie Donald Brooks; brothers Solon, Dillard and Cecil Leggitt; and sisters Clara Cargile and Ella Waller.
Survivors include her sons Harold Brooks and wife Beckie of Jacksonville, and Ronnie Brooks and wife Bonnie of Cabot; sister Sybil Mullinax of North Little Rock; brother Dewey Leggitt of Jacksonville; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 5, at Lighthouse Tabernacle in Jacksonville, with Ron Denton officiating.

Carrol Fletcher
Carrol Lee 'Sonny' Fletcher, 67, of Sherwood died Monday, Nov. 27, 2006.
He was a 1956 graduate of Carlisle High School.
He served in the U. S. Air Force and served as minister for the Hazen Church of Christ, and the North Main Church of Christ in Malvern.
In 1977, he became Minister of Evangelism for the Sylvan Hills Church of Christ in Sherwood, where he remained for 29 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Mable (Mashburn) Fletcher.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years LaVerne (Allison) Fletcher of Sherwood; children Alison Bussard of Sherwood, Angela Stevens and husband Mark of Arlington, Texas, and Phil Fletcher and wife Pam of Palestine, Texas; seven grandchildren; mother-in-law Azalee Allison of Jacksonville; and four brothers-in-law including Bob Allison and wife Ella of Jacksonville.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Nov. 30, at Sylvan Hills Church of Christ.

John Keathley
John 'J.D.' Keathley, 67, of Bryant died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2006.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict and was a retired welder.
He was preceded in death by his parents James Dewey and Nettie Keeling Keathley and son Jimmy Harold Keathley.
He is survived by his son Johnny Keathley and wife Donna, of Clarendon; one granddaughter; brother Bill Keathley of Carlisle; and sister Dorothy Harper and husband Kenneth, of Bryant.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Shirley Higgins
Shirley Sue Higgins, 70, of Jacksonville, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2006 in Jacksonville.
She was born on July 4, 1936 in Bramer, Missouri to the late Charlie and Ethyl Whitworth Simpkins.
She is also preceded in death by a brother, Charles Ray Simpkins, and her daughter, Stacie Jo Summers in 1993.
She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years Harold J. Higgins of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Karen Higgins, Kenneth and Denise Higgins, all of Lonoke, Butch and Linda Higgins of Farmington, Missouri; two sisters, Sharon Thompson of Hamilton, Missouri, Marilee McCracken of Chillicothe, Missouri; two brothers, Bill Simpkins of Jacksonville, Bob Simpkins of Ward; 4 grandchildren: 5 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Saturday at Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment followed at Chapel Hill Memorial Park in Jacksonville.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Juanita Ward Compton, 81, of England died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2006.
She moved to England after her retirement.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Ray Foreman and David Compton, and special friend Marty Cranfill.
She is survived by her brother Garner Ward; and sister Bernice Watson, both of England.
