Jim Hartness
Jim Hartness, 88, of Bonanza, Ark. died Wednesday, July 17, 2002, in a Fort Smith hospital. He was a retired air traffic controller, 50 year mason, member of Black Diamond Lodge #549 F&AM, a Merchant Marine Veteran and a Presbyterian.
Survivors include his wife, Gertrude of the home; one daughter, Janie Glover of Fort Smith, Ark.; three sons, Robert & Jimmy Hartness of Fort Smith, Ark., Joe Hartness of Chicago, Ill.; five grandchildren, Jimmy, Jeff, Ashley and Eric Hartness and Sara Christian; five great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were July 20, 2002, at Mountain View cemetery in Hackett, Ark. with burial at Mountain View cemetery in Hackett under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
Pallbearers were Jerry Basinger, Jimmy, Jeff, Eric and Ashley Hartness, Eddie Christian and Charles Dolan.

Alta Dora Wagner
Alta Dora Wagner, 88, of Waldron, Ark. died Wednesday, October 9, 2002, in a Waldron hospital. He was a homemaker and a member of Waldron First Baptist Church. She was the widow of William Theo Wagner Sr.
Survivors include one daughter, Sue Goss of Mena, Ark.; one son, William Theo Wagner Jr. of Waldron, Ark.; two brothers, Raymond Beecham of Greenwood, ark. and Edward Beecham of Eurich, Mo.; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were October 12 at Waldron First Baptist Church with burial at Duncan cemetery in Waldron, Ark. under the direction of Martin Funeral Home of Waldron.
Pallbearers were Scott Wagner, Greg Goss, Nathan Howard, Brian Clay, Don Williams and Sam Martin.
Rose Ann (Sharp) Bumgardner
Rose Ann (Sharp) Bumgardner, 56, of Huntington, Ark. died Saturday, October 12, 2002, in her home. She was a homemaker, co-owner of the Bumgardner Apartments in Huntington and attended the Westside Pentecostal Church in Huntington. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Roy Sharp.
Survivors include her husband, Terry Bumgardner of the home; one daughter, Kimmy McDonald of Mansfield, Ark.; two sons, John Sharp and Steve Sharp both of Huntington, Ark.; one sister, Nita Moore of Huntington, Ark.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were October 15, 2002, at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood, Ark. with burial at Huntington City cemetery in Huntington, Ark. under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
Pallbearers were great nephews, Keith, Andrew, and Michael Moore, Brian and Joel Hurt and Billy Turnipseed.
Jewell G. Cavalena
Jewell G. Cavalena, 86, of Fremont, Ohio died Friday, October 11, 2002, in her home. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include one son, Larry Cavalena of Dover, Ohio; one sister, Marjorie Fillipelli of Fort Smith, Ark.; several nieces and nephews.

Ruth Bartolich, 80, of Hartford, Ark. died Thursday, October, 10, 2002, in her home. She was a housewife and homemaker.
Survivors include nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Bobby Gene Fox, 62, of Hardy, Ark. died Tuesday, October 8, 2002, in Mountain Home Hospital. He was a retired state plumbing inspector and member of the Huntington Masonic Lodge #498.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Fox of the home; two daughters, Tammy Whitworth of Greenwood, Ark., Tracy King of Lavaca, Ark.; one son, Terry Fox of Wichita, Kans.; four step-sons, Richard Anthony, Rodney Aarron, Russell Andrew Goodman of Hardy, Ark., Clayton Len Smith of Jasper, Ark.; four grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.

Catherine Louise Brown
Catherine Louise Brown, 75, of Greenwood, Ark. died Monday, November 25, 2002, in a Fort Smith hospital. She was employed at Sam's Wholesale Club, a member of Greenwood First Baptist Church in Greenwood, a member of The Order Of The Eastern Star in Greenwood. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Brown; a daughter, Leta Jane; two brothers, Gene and Gerald Amos; one half sister, Genieve Powell.
Survivors include two daughters, Rėnee and Nina Kay Brown of Greenwood, Ark.; two sons, Jackie Earl Brown and wife, Diana of Greenwood, Ark.; Ronnie Brown and wife, Sharon of Greenwood, Ark.; three brothers, Doc Amos of Greenwood, Warner Amos of Charleston, Ark., Calvin Amos of Lavaca, Ark.; four grandchildren, Tanya Garlin, Crystal Petty, Nicole Brown, and Kendra Brown, all of Greenwood; one great-grandchild, Jase Petty.

Survivors include two daughters, Mildred Myers of Pocola, Okla., Geneva Powell of Yorba Linda, Calif.; one son, Bob Lovell of Pocola, Okla.; several nieces and nephews; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Charley Quick, 73, of Greenwood, Ark. died Tuesday, November 26, 2002, in a Benton, Ark. nursing home.
Survivors include one sister, Edna Mae Campbell of Greenwood, Ark.; three brothers, J.T. and John Quick both of Greenwood, Ark., Argus Quick of Fort Smith; a number of nieces and nephews.

William Kadow
William Kadow, 78, of Inola, Okla. died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003 in a Tulsa hospital. He was a university professor and a veteran.
Survivors include one sister, Emma Kadow of Inola, Okla.

Dale W. Hatchett
Dale W. Hatchett, 78, of Dayton, Ark. died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003 in his home. He was a retired farmer, a Marine Corp Veteran of World War II and a member and Deacon of Fellowship Baptist Church in Witcherville, Ark. He was preceded in death by his wife Katherine Christine Hatchett.
Survivors include two daughters, Edna Witt of Dayton, Ark., Judy Robertson of Roebeuck, South Carolina; two sisters, Dorothy McAnnally of Pal Desert, Calif., Edith Witten of Phoenix, Ariz.; four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Feb. 3, 2003 at Fellowship Baptist Church in Witcherville, Ark. with burial at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith, Ark. under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
Delores Fulgham
Mrs. Delores Davenport Fulgham, age 65 passed away on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003 in her home. She was born on August 20, 1937 to Haskell and Thelma Myers Davenport. Mrs. Fulgham was a homemaker, and had worked as a bus driver for the Van Buren School system.
Funeral services were Feb. 4, 2003 at Edward Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel. Interment was in Newberry cemetery in Alma, Ark. under the direction of Edward Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
She is survived by her husband, Bill of the home and two daughters and sons-in-law; Teresa Killian Barron and Mike Barron of Hamptonville, N.C. and Dana Killian Wagner and Mike Wagner of Van Buren, Ark. She is also survived by a son and daughter-in-law; John Robert Killian and Christi Killian of Charlotte, N.C.; a sister Diane Mayes of Van Buren, Ark. and eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A stepdaughter, Sharon Fulgham of Van Buren and a stepson, David Fulgham of Alma, Ark. also survive her.
Mrs. Fulgham was preceded in death by a son James Harvey Killian; a sister, Joann Ball; her mother, Thelma Davenport and a stepdaughter, Dianna Fulgham.
Pallbearers were grandsons and son-in-laws.
Memorial contributions may be made to either the Van Buren High School Athletic or Band Departments.
Thurl Ward
Thurl Ward, 93, of Greenwood died Tuesday, March 25, 2003, in Sparks Regional Medical Center. He was born April 8, 1909, in Carland, the son of John and Estella Ward.
A longtime resident of Mansfield, he was a retired cattleman and former co-owner of Mansfield Hardware. He served on the Poteau River District Soil Conservation board from 1961 to 1987. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church No. 2 where he served as deacon for 50 years.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ruth; a son, John of Greenwood; a brother, Seaman of Bakersfield, Calif.; three grandchildren, John Daxton of Greenwood, Capt. Courtney Finkbeiner of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Sgt. Blair Ward of Camp Pendleton, Calif.; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were March 29, 2003, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church No. 2 with interment at Pleasant Grove No. 2 cemetery in Abbott under the direction of Martin Funeral Home of Mansfield.
Pallbearers will be Elmer Quick, Vanis Sigman, Jack Livingston, Butch Butcher and Eddie and Donnie Ward.
Gilbert Lawrence Starnes
Gilbert Lawrence Starnes, 59, of Greenwood, Ark. died Thursday, march 27, 2003, in Greenwood. He was born March 28, 1944, in Washington, DC and lived in Little Rock from 1948 to 1974 where he attended Forrest Park Elementary School and Joe T. Robinson Jr. High and High School. In 1974 he moved to Walrdon, Ark.
Mr. Starnes is preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Fondren Starnes and a brother Kenneth Fondern Starnes II. He is survived by his mother, Jean Roderick of Houston, Texas, two sisters, Kay Bowers of Maryville, Tenn. and Sally Goldberg of Houston, Texas. Other survivors include, an uncle, Buddy Gray of Waldron, Ark. and an aunt, Edna Harrison of Waldron, Ark., three nieces, three nephews and several cousins.
Funeral services were March 31, 2003 at Martin Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop David Lee of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints officiating. Interment was in Duncan cemetery at Waldron, Ark. under the direction Martin Funeral Home of Waldron.
Edward D. Thomas
Edward D. Thomas, 91, of Greenwood, Ark. died Thursday, March 27, 2003, in a Fort Smith hospital. He was retired from the Sebastian County Road Department, a navy veteran of World War II, a member of the Greenwood United Methodist Church, a member of the Harris-Hannah VFW Post #6527 in Greenwood, 32nd Degree Mason and a 50 year member of the Milltown Lodge #605 F&AM, also having membership in the Greenwood Lodge #131 F&AM, the York Rite Bodies in Booneville and Van Buren, the Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem of Fort Smith, the Scottish Rite Bodies of Fort Smith and a member of the Greenwood Chapter #197, Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include his wife Natalee of the home; two nephews and one niece.
Funeral services were March 31, 2003 at Greenwood United Methodist Church with burial at Liberty cemetery in Greenwood, Ark. under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
Pallbearers were Ron Lewis, Bob Turner, Frank Brixey, Terral Jones, Bob Sadler, and Kenneth Edwards, Jr.
Honorary pallbearers were The Joy Sunday School Class of The Greenwood United Methodist Church.
