Sam Lee Umberger

Sam Lee Umberger, 78, of Atkins died Sept. 20, 2000.

Born Jan. 23, 1922 in Enid, Okla., a son of Chester Umberger and Dollie Gregory Umberger, he was a World War II, Korea, and Vietnam veteran serving in the Merchant Marines.

Survivors include his wife, Pauline Montgomery Nichols Umberger of Atkins, two sons, Bob Umberger and Mike Umberger, both of Hanna, Wyo.; four step-sons, Jerry Nichols of Mablevale, Tim Nichols of Russellville, James and Paul Nichols of Atkins; one sister, Lanora Stites of Santa Anna, Calif.; five grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were Saturday, Sept. 23 at Elmwood cemetery with the Bro. Bob Woody officiating.

Wanda Faye Standridge Judkins

Wanda Faye Standridge Judkins, 61, died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002, at her home in Dover. She was born on October 9, 1941, in Lamar, to Charles Washington and Lura Mae (Owens) Standridge. She married Gary Don Judkins on Sept. 2, 1977, in Dover. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents and by a twin brother, Clinton Ray Standridge, brothers Herbert Standridge and Donald “Pete” Standridge and a sister Ruth Clark.

She enjoyed shopping and collecting angels. She loved her “Grand-babies.” She was a member of Gospel Lighthouse Pentecostal Church of Dover.

Survivors include her husband, Gary Judkins of Dover; six children, Tim and Vicki Mayhew, Tereasa Warnick and John Hopson, Traci and Steven Taylor all of Dover; Thomas and Tina Mayhew of West Fork, Jeffrey and Teresa Judkins of Ft. Smith, and Lisa and Tim Whitten of Russellville; one sister, Jewell and Norvel English of Dover; one brother, Charles and Lenora Standridge of Dover; and 15 “Grand-babies.”

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, at the Gospel Lighthouse Pentecostal Church officiated by Bro. Bob Freeman and Bro. Dewayne Pritchard. Burial will be at Annie’s Chapel cemetery at Hagarville under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service.

Active casket bearers will be Mike Curtis, Doyle Peerman, Randy Hopson, Marvin Eaton, James Freeman and Martin Boen. Honorary casket bearers will be Churck Remfrey, Danny Warnick, Wendell Freeman, Jim Warren, R. L. Williams, Donnie Harmon and Tommy Harmon.

Hazel Reynolds

Hazel L. Clemons Reynolds, 87, of Malvern, formerly of Hattieville, widow of John Wesley Reynolds, died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2001, at Hot Spring County Medical Center in Malvern.

She was born Feb. 16, 1913, in Atkins to the late Phillip N. and Margaret Matilda Burris Clemons. She was a homemaker, a former nurse's aide and a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Malvern. She and Mr. Reynolds were married Feb. 21, 1934, and he died at the age of 86 on Jan. 17, 1998. She was also preceded in death by four brothers and five sisters.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, John Wayne and Rita Reynolds; a daughter, Treva Lou Cotton, all of Malvern; a brother, George Clemons of Houston, Texas; three grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was Jan. 27 at the Atkinson Funeral Home Chapel in Malvern with Bro. Jerry Grimes and Bro. Don Price officiating. Burial was at the Oakridge cemetery in Malvern.

Pallbearers were Fred Byrd, Phillip Cotton, Bryan Loy, Eugene Brooks, Royce Holliman, and Bill Turner.

Dana Harris

Dana Mae Harris, 78, of Pottsville died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2001.

She was born April 10, 1922, on Crow Mountain and was the daughter of the late Clarence Monroe and Ethel Williams Jackson. She was a housewife.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Q. Harris; and a granddaughter, Shelley Harris.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Larry Harris and Danny and Kathy Harris, all of Pottsville; and five grandchildren, Scott Harris of Rogers, Amanda Johnson of Russellville, Matthew, Sara and Jessica Harris, all of Pottsville.

Funeral services were Feb. 6 at Pottsville Methodist Church with the Rev. Beth Turner, the Rev. Carrol Jackson, and the Rev. Thomas Morris officiating. Burial was at Pisgah cemetery by Lemley Funeral Service.

Pallbearers were Joe Maxwell, Kenneth Taylor, George Potts, Benny Docekal, Charley Jackson, and Adolph Vodrazka.

Lem V. Duvall

Lem V. Duvall, 93, of Russellville, died Feb. 4, 2001.

He was born Jan. 16, 1908, Sunday, in Pine Hill and was the son the of the George W. (Bob) and Dimmie Chronister Duvall. He was a retired farmer, timber worker and member of Happy Valley Assembly of God Church.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Leonard Duvall; a sister, Sarah (Sis) Chronister; and two great-grandchildren, Joshua and Erin Duvall.

Survivors include his wife, Margie Warren Duvall; one son and daughter-in-law, Clifton and Newana Duvall; one grandson and his wife, Paul Wayne and Janis Duvall; one granddaughter and her husband, Jan and Johnny Johnston, all of Russellville; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Tuesday, Feb. 6 at the Happy Valley Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Michael Burden and the Rev. Bob Alexander officiating. Burial was at the Suggs cemetery by Lemley Funeral Service.

Active pallbearers were Dusty, Seth, Zachary and Ethan Duvall, and Brad and Jamie Johnston. Honorary pallbearers were Burl J. (Jack) Duvall, Jim Welch, Quentin Wright, L.B. Duvall, Paul Ray Reed, Warren Cochran, Floyd Byrum, Greg Murphy, Dr. Robert Thurlby, and Joe and Ed Chronister.

Memorials can be made to the Suggs cemetery Fund, c/o Paul Wayne Duvall, 5140 SR 326, Russellville, Ark., 72802.

Ronald Harris

Ronald Harris, 50, of Russellville, died Wednesday, March 28, 2001, in Russellville.

He was born on July 31, 1950 in Russellville and a son of Emma Jane Mason Harris of Russellville and the late Grady Levi Harris.

He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Gerald Robinson of Pottsville; and three aunts, Betty Phillips of Havana, Pat Kirkley of Russellville and Opal Kirby of Jonesboro.

The body was cremated and the family will conduct a private memorial service at a later date.

W.A. Lemley

W.A. Lemley, of St. Louis, Mo. died Tuesday, March 20, 2001.

He was born in Appleton in 1918 and was the son of Cora and Elbert (Elb) Lemley. He was a graduate of Atkins High School in 1936 and was a retired real estate agent.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Norton Lemley; one son, Al Lemley of St. Louis, Mo.; four daughters, Phyllis Young Lemley of St. Louis, Dr. Shelia Lemley of St. Louis, Mo., Mary Lou Lemley of San Francisco, Cal., and Patricia Lemley of Washington, D.C.

He was buried in the National cemetery in St. Louis, Mo.

George Mayhew

George Edmond Mayhew, 89, of Clarkton, Mo, died Sunday, April 1, 2001 in Campbell, Mo.

He was born Jan. 11, 1912, and was the son of the late William Bailey and Sarah Bates Mayhew. He was a World War II veteran and a member of the Malden American Legion Post #293. He was a retired Paper Mill millrite.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Pearl May Ross Mayhew, his second wife; Ruth Reese Mayhew; a son, Kenneth Mayhew; seven brothers, William Monroe, Harrison Henry, Ora Lee, James Moses, Roy, Luther and Clyde Mayhew; and one sister, Margarette Elizabeth Mayhew.

Survivors include two sons, William Mayhew and wife, Korolyn of Pipecreek, Texas and Phil Mayhew and wife, Shirley of Niles, Mich.; two step-daughters, Glenda Mills of Clarkton, Mo. And Katheryn Reese of St. Louis, Mo.; four grandchildren, Sandra Horn, David, Bryan and Mike Mayhew; and five great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be Thursday, April 5, at the Adams cemetery in Johnson County.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday at the Lemley Chapel.
