Jessie Prizina

Jessie James Prizina, 79, of Atkins, died Thursday, May 24, 2001, in St. Mary's Hospital. She was born Oct. 28, 1921, in Booneville.

Survivors include three daughters, Brooka Hamilton of Morrilton, Trudy Sutton of Van Buren, Anna Louise Kay of Spanaway, Wash.; one son, John E. Prizina, Jr. of Brighton, Tenn. and 13 grandchildren.

Funeral service was Tuesday, May 29 at the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith by Peggy Duvall and Pam Nordin. Burial was in the Fort Smith National cemetery.

Pallbearers were her grandsons, Shannon, Heath and Matt Davis, Eric Sutton, Seth Spaulding, and Brian Sutton.

Joyce Dewars

Joyce Ann Dewars, 46, a resident of Porterville, died in Visala on Tuesday, May 15, 2001.

Mrs. Dewars was born in Russellville. She was a resident of, Porterville for four years and previously a lifelong resident of Strathmore. She graduated from Strathmore Union High School in1973. She was a homemaker and Avon sales agent.

She was preceded in death by a grandson in 1995.

Survivors included a daughter, Angie Dixon of Mimbres, N.M; three brothers, James and Kenneth Chenowith of Strathmore, and Thomas Chenowith of Lamar, a sister, Betty Weatherley of Strathmore; and one grandchild.

A graveside service was held Monday at Lindsay-Strathmore cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to Poplar Assembly of God, P.O. Box 3246, Poplar, Calif., 93258.

Arrangements are under the direction of Webb-Sanders Funeral Home.

Eldie Lee Yarber

Eldie Lee Yarber, 66, of Hector died Friday, July 28, 2000 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center at Russellville.

Born on Feb. 6, 1934 at Pope Co., he was a son of Liston and Oklie Pack Yarber. He married Norma Ledford Yarber on May 25, 1955. He was a poultry and cattle farmer, Navy Veteran and attended the Newton Springs Full Gospel Church at Hector.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, James Lee Wilson.

Survivors include his wife, Norma Ledford Yarber of Hector; two daughters and one son-in-law, Wannetta Wilson, Jeanette and Tony Anderson, both of Hector; one son and daughter-in-law, Nick and Ranee Yarber of Hector; five grandchildren, Wendy Wilson, Travis and Terra Anderson, Clint and Casey Yarber, all of Hector; two brothers, J. W. Yarber and Clevon Yarber, both of Hector; five sisters, Imogene Reed of Atkins, Regina Pack, Chris McNinch and Wanda Campbell, all of Hector and Carolyn Sue Wade of Pottsville; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral service was Monday, July 31 at Hector Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Bob Branch officiating. Burial was at the Rock Springs cemetery at Hector under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service.

Pallbearers were Vince Pack, Michael Pack, Randy Pack, David Rudder, and Larry Ray Reed.

Ernest L. Powers, former POW and county clerk, dies

Ernest L. Powers, 82, of Russellville, died Saturday, June 30, 2001, at the St. Mary's Regional Med. Center in Russellville.

He was born in Van Buren County on April 24, 1920, and was the son of the late Otto William and Abbie Gail Bolton Powers. He was an Army Veteran of World War II, having been a POW for 39 months. He was awarded the Silver Star, Bronze Star, and Purple Heart, and was a member of the Shiloh Masonic Lodge. He was retired, having served as Pope County Clerk from 1965 until 1982.

He was preceded in death also by two brothers, Archie and Jack Powers, and three sisters, Viola Isom, Floy and Creasie Powers.

Survivors include his wife, Audra Johnson Powers of Russellville and his sister, Mrs. Beatrice Smith of Atkins.

Funeral services were Monday, July 2 at the Lemley Funeral Chapel with the Rev. David Downum officiating. Burial was at the St. Joe cemetery by the Lemley Funeral Service.

Active pallbearers were Wesley, Eric and Stephan Duvall, Brian Johnson, Dennis Condley, Mike Rackley, and Jerry Burris.

Honorary pallbearers were the members of the Shiloh Masonic Lodge.

Memorials can be made to The American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association. 8-7098.

Charles Rackley

Charles Rackley, 59, of Morrilton, formerly of Nogo, died Monday, March 5, 2001 at the home of his sister, Leatrus and Loyd Standridge.

He was born on March 1, 1942 at Nogo to Shirley and Willia (Yarber) Rackley. Mr. Rackley was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Pack Rackley, his father, a sister, Doris Collins and a grandson, Jeremy Nichols.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Wain and Anita Rackley of Hector; a daughter, Cindy Nichols of Russellville; his mother, Willia Rackley of Hector; one brother, Glyn Rackley of Russellville; two sisters, Leatrus Standridge of Russellville and Kay Jordan of Hector ;and five grandchildren, Savannah, Natasha, Shelby and Wyatt Rackley, and Jonathan Nichols.

Funeral services will be Thursday, March 8 at 2 p.m. at the Hector Assembly of God Church and will be officiated by the Rev. Dean Caldwell and the Rev. Bob Chronister. Burial will be at the Forks of the Creek cemetery at Hector. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Active pallbearers will be Johnny Collins, Dean Collins, Mike Standridge, Perry Rackley, Wesley Jordan, and Shannon Jordan. Honorary pallbearers will be Coby Shipp, Charles George, Connie Aday, Clyde Aday, Danny Leach and Vick Waddles.

Memorials may be made to the Area Agency Hospice in Russellville.

Anna Ratliff

Anna Mae Wright Ratliff, 67, of Little Rock, died Saturday, April 1, 2000.

For the last 20 years she was an apartment manager. Currently she was the manager of Plaza Towers Apartments. She was of the Assembly of God faith.

Survivors include four daughters and three sons-in-law, Teresa and Larry Tackett of Atkins, Donna and Kevin Hill of Bryant, Karen and Will Heatherly of Bryant and Melanie Ratliff of Little Rock; three sisters; a brother; nine grandchildren, Whitney and Brooke Reed, Kelsey, Matthew, Zachary, Samantha and Vance Hill and Veronica and Trey Heatherly; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral service was April 5 (today), at 10 a.m., at the Roller Chenal Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dennis Pigman officiating. Burial was at Forest Hills Memorial Park.

Randall Reel

Randall Glenn Reel, 69, of Dover, died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2001 at his residence.

He was born on Oct. 1, 1931 in Atkins, Ark. to Edgar and Georgia Eakin Reel. He married Betty Ivey on March 9, 1956, in Calif. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, he was retired from the California Ironworkers Field, and he was a member of Second Baptist Church in Russellville, Ark.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, George C. Reel.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Reel; a son and daughter-in-law, Randall G. Reel II and Sarah Reel of Omaha, Neb.; one brother, Carroll E. Reel of Russellville; three sisters, Edaylene Bryant of Van Buren, Shirley Bubbus of Russellville, and Linda May of McGee; two grandchildren, Meredith Taylor Reel and Chase Corbin Reel both of Omaha, Neb.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Friday, Feb. 9, at the Second Baptist Church in Russellville, with the Rev. David McLemore officiating. Burial will be in the Hudson cemetery at Moreland under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville. Visitation will be Thursday, Feb. 8, from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Active pallbearers include Chris Bubbus, Micah Bubbus, Mike Bubbus, Bill Glover, Sam McKaskie, and Jason Reel.

Memorials may be made to the Second Baptist Church, P.O. Box 782, Russellville, AR 72811.
