Mrs. Toreatha Cunningham Shans, 96, died Saturday, Jan 1, 2000, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center.
Born March 27, 1903, at Happy Bend Community in Atkins, a daughter of William and Prescilla Sanders Cunningham, she was retired from Robinson Home in Russellville and a member of Pilgrim Rest No. 2 Baptist Church in Atkins. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Otway Shans.
Survivors include two step-children, Otway Shans, Jr. of Paris, Texas and Helen Dangerfield of Powderly, Texas; five nephews and nine nieces.
Funeral service was held Friday, Jan. 7, at Pilgrim Rest No. 2 Baptist Church in Atkins
Pallbearers were Chase Cunningham, Brandon Brown, Paul Hall, Steve Cunningham, Keith Cunningham, and Jerrod Cunningham.
Elsie Jewell Senseny
Elsie Jewell Senseny, 95, of Neosho, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2000, at Medicalodge in Neosho, Mo., after an illness of one year.
Born Dec. 23, 1904, at Dabney, Ark., she lived allover Missouri and Arkansas. Her last home before coming to Neosho was Atkins. She was a homemaker and a devoted Christian wife and mother. She taught school for three years in a one room school house near Dabney, Ark.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Don Senseny, and a son, Clyde Everett Senseny.
Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Graham of Joplin, Mo.; two sisters, Eva Sutton of Morrilton and Izora Woodson of Farmersville, Calif.; a niece, Linda Graves of Solgohachia, Ark.; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
The body has been cremated, and a private family service will take place at a later date.
Noma Sellers
Noma Sellers, 65, of Little Rock, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2001.
She is a homemaker.
Survivors include her daughters, Louise Barnett and her husband, Joseph of Leslie, Ark., Roxann Bobo and her husband, Charles of Little Rock; two sons, Mark Sellers and his wife, Michelle of West Helena, Ark., Clark Sellers and his wife, Pam of Dover, and Adam Lee Sellers of Jonesaboro; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen Arnold of Chandler, Texas; a brother, Troy Lambert of Cherry Valley, Ark. and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were at the Roller-Drummond Southwest Chapel Saturday, Jan. 13.
S.C. Tucker
S.C. Tucker, 78, of Danville, former superintendent of Danville Public Schools, died Thursday, March 22, at Chambers Memorial Hospital. He was the brother of M.C. Tucker of Dover.
Born Oct. 4, 1922, at Pottsville, he was the son of the late Clarence and Effie Williams Tucker, and a graduate of Arkansas State Teachers College. He did graduate work at the University of Arkansas.
In 1947, Mr. Tucker became principal of the Danville School District and assumed the position of superintendent in 1953, retiring after serving the school district for 37 years. He was a charter and 50-year member of Danville Lions Club and served on the Yell County Library Board, Regional Library Board, District Athletic Association and Boy Scout and Girl Scout boards. In the Arkansas Education Association, he was active in the State Principals Association and served as president of the Arkansas School Administrators. He was a member of the Danville United Methodist Church, where he served as a Sunday school teacher and former member of the church board.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Jean Lile Baker Tucker; a son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Eileen Tucker of Atlanta; a daughter and son-in-law, Alden and David Spriggs of Allen, Texas; five brothers, Milton Tucker of Dover; Kermit Tucker of Decatur, Ala., Bill Tucker of Catawba, N.C., Bob Tucker of Hartford, Kan. and Ray Tucker of Danville; eight grandchildren, Lauren and Brian Tucker of Atlanta and Ann, James, John, Caleb, Katie and Micah Spriggs of Allen; and several cousins.
Funeral services were held Monday at Danville United Methodist Church by the Rev. David Hawkins. Burial was at Earl Ladd cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Service.
Active pallbearers included Bob Nelson Pledger, Phil Moudy, Steve Pfeifer, Bood Keathley, Ray Holbrook, Joe Hissom, Steve Coger and Jim Pledger.
Honorary pallbearers included members of Sarah Freeman Sunday School Class, past and present members of Danville School Board and Danville Lions Club, Fay Mathis, Ed Taylor, Bill B. Wood, A.D. Wendell Sanders
Wendell Sanders, 43, of Dover died Sunday, June 18, 2000, at his home.
Born Oct. 27, 1956 at San Jose, Calif., he was an employee of the maintenance department at the Dana Corporation and a member of the Poor Boys Club.
Survivors include his wife, Ginger Sanders; a son and daughter-in-law, Darren and Marnee Sanders of Russellville; a daughter, Angel Sanders of Pottsville; a step-son, Jason Spradlin of Oklahoma; his father and step-mother, J.L. and Vivian Sanders of Nogo; his mother, Lavern Marable of Russellville; two brothers, Lynn Sanders and Gerald Sanders, both of Dover; a step-brother, Paul Kendrick of Rogers; a half-sister, Patricia Carter of Russellville; a step-sister, Pam Rolland of Dardanelle; two grandchildren, Laken Davis of Pottsville and Alyssa Sanders of Russellville; and two step-grandchildren, Christopher and Caala Cox, both of Russellville.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 21, at the Shinn Chapel with the Rev. Dean Caldwell officiating. Burial was a Rock Springs cemetery, at Hector.
Active pallbearers will be Johnny Henderson, Tony Hernandez, Wayne Titsworth, Troy Morris, Gary Black and Gary Clair.
Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Bates and Mitchell Collins.

Cecil Sain
Cecil Sain, Sr., 79, of Dover, died Friday, June 16, 2000, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center.
Born Nov. 1, 1920, at Cowell, he was a son of Odd and Ella Sain. He was a retired farmer, a carpenter and a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. He was of the Assembly of God faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Verlin and Guff Sain; and two sisters, Walcie Ragsdale and Lizzie Halom.
Survivors include his wife, Izola LaRue Sain; two sons and daughters-in-law, Cecil "Sonny" Jr. and Nita Sain of Dover and Charles Ray and Joyce Sain of Sapulpa, Okla.; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Ilene Sain of Oxnard, Calif., several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral was held Monday at Pleasant Grove Assembly of God with the Rev. Dwain Pritchard officiating. The Rev. Kenny Partain assisted. Burial was at Pollard cemetery at Dover under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service.
Pallbearers included: Joey Hanna, Terry Shaddon, Josha Hanna, Tim Kennedy, Garland LaRue and Justin Utley.
Honorary pallbearers were Jerry LaRue, Jesse Cossey, Tony Sain amd Brian Sain.
Clarence Speer, Jr.
Clarence Williams Speer, Jr., 71, of Woodland Hills, Calif., passed away July 8, 2000.
He was born Oct. 22, 1928, in Oklahoma City, Okla. to Clarence W. Speer and Opal Stout Speer.
He married
Mary Ann Throgmorton in Texas on Oct. 9, 1948. Together they moved to Los Angeles, Calif. from Oklahoma City in 1957. He retired from The Los Angeles Times as Assistant Director of Circulation on April 1, 1992.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ann; and his mother, Opal Speer, 93, of Tyler, Texas.
He was the cherished father of Clarence William III and his wife Susan of Woodland Hills; and Mark Wilson and his wife Sheryl of Agoura, Calif.
Adored grandfather to Shelby Ann, Jennifer Marie, Adam Michael and Amanda Marie. Brother to Sue Osborne and her husband Dewayne of Tyler, Texas.
A memorial was held on Friday, July 14, at the First United Methodist Church in Canoga Park, Calif.
