William Everette North of Jonesboro, Ga., formerly of Johnson County, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004, at Arrowhead Healthcare.
He is survived by four nieces, Peggy Mason and Nina Mason, both of Clarksville, Betty Jean Nemecheck of Houston, Texas, and Latricia Lingenfelter of Claremore, Okla.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 31. Burial was at Sherwood Memorial Park. Arrangements were under the direction of Horis A. Ward Funeral Home in Jonesboro, Ga.
Fred D. Evans
Fred David Evans, 76, of Piney View, W. Va., died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2005, at the Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital.
A native of Hartman, he was a son of the late David Luther and Elizabeth Evans, retired machinist, Methodist, and was preceded in death by his wife, Freda Evans; one son, Mitchell Lilly; and two brothers, Howell and Duel Evans.
He is survived by one son, Dale Lilly of Fireco, W. Va.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Gaye and Mike McClanahan of Shady Spring, W. Va., Judy and David Davis of Crab Orchard, W. Va., and Lea and Don CoAngelo of Detroit, Mich.; one sister, Johnnie Ruth of New York; 17 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral was at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley, W. Va., with Pastor Rodney Allen officiating. Burial was in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity, W. Va.
Active pallbearers were grandsons, Everett, Christopher, Larry, David and Andrew Lilly, and Paul Sharp Jr.
Honorary pallbearer was Sidney Lilly.
Jung S. Choi
Jung S. Choi, 80, of Russellville, mother of Mija Bartlett of Clarksville, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004, at her home.
She was a daughter of the late Hung Jib Choi and the late Kwon Se, native of Kangnung, South Korea, and was preceded in death by one son, Su Yong Kim.
Survivors include two other daughters, Yong Suk Cochran of Russellville and Yong Worar Kim of South Korea; one daughter-in-law, Okju Kim of Olathe, Kan.; six grandchildren, Ryan and Stacy Cochran, both of Russellville, Ranae Bartlett of Huntsville, Ala., Yejun Kim of Olathe, Kan., and Yong Kun Kwon and Yong Hun Kwon, both of South Korea; one great-grandson, Michael Guthrie of Huntsville; and three brothers and four sisters, all of South Korea.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 31, at Shinn Funeral Service Chapel in Russellville with Rev. John Sweigart officiating. Burial was in Rest Haven Memorial Park.
Pallbearers were Eddie Carolan, Frank, Ryan and Johnny Cochran, Leo Chang and Yejun Kim.

Margueritte Becker
Frances Margueritte Pryor Becker, 94, died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004, at Crawford Healthcare and Rehab where she had resided the past seven and one-half years.
She was a lifelong resident of Arkansas, former resident of Clarksville, native of Johnson County, daughter of the late Lester and Tina Lamb Pryor, widow of Tony Becker, a seamstress, and a retired licensed practical nurse having been employed for many years in Clarksville at both the hospital and in private practice. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Evelyn Curtis, Beulah Northcutt and Eula Jordan.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Grace and Paul McAllister of Mountainburg; four grandsons, Ron Folsom and Jeff Folsom, both of Van Buren, Joe Folsom of Bella Vista, and Mark Folsom of Barling; six great-grandchildren, Kevin Folsom, Amber Folsom, Joey Folsom, Emily Grace Folsom, Tanner Folsom, and Wyatt Folsom; four nieces; and two nephews.
Funeral was at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 31, at Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gracelawn cemetery.
Pallbearers were grandsons, Ron, Joe, Jeff and Mark Folsom; great-grandson, Kevin Folsom; and Brian Wylie and Sherman Smith.
Norma Hodges
Norma Carolyn Lenhardt Hodges, 71, of Phoenix, Ariz., died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004.
She was a native of the Lutherville Community, former resident of Alaska, and retired secretary-treasurer of an air charter service.
Survivors are her husband, Troy Hodges; one daughter, Diana of Soldotna, Alaska; and one son, Ross (Tiger) of Maumee, Ohio.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 7, at the Lutherville cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Valley of the Sun Mortuary and cemetery in Chandler, Ariz.
Verna B. Gable
Verna Beatrice Gable, 77, of Lamar died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was a retired factory employee, Baptist, and daughter of the late Jim and Girty Barnett Clark.
Survivors are four sons and two daughters-in-law, Gerald and Mona Gable of Clarksville, Victor and Teresa Hawkins and Earl William Whitman, all of Boaz, Ala., and Robert L. Gable Jr. of Lamar; two sisters, Geraldine Oles and Loretta Porter, both of Clarksville; six grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Frank Shook officiating. Burial was in West Mt. Zion cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Bobby Clark, Dale Dabbs, Carl Porter, Brian Crosno, Johnny Sanders, and John Blackburn.
Honorary pallbearers were Brian Cole, David Newton, and Paul Whitehead.
Veryl B. Stricklin
Veryl Bussey Stricklin, 57, of Coal Hill died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2005, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was a park attendant for the Corps of Engineers at Piney Bay, employee of Circle 64 Store in Coal Hill, attended the Coal Hill Baptist Church, and was a daughter of the late Ira Lee and Martha Elizabeth Vernon Bussey.
Survivors include her husband, Elmer Stricklin; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jean and David Nagengast of Flint, Mich., and Irene and Kenneth Sisk of Coal Hill; one son and daughter-in-law, Jerry Don and Laura Stricklin of Coal Hill; two sisters, Beatrice Moelander of Huntley, Ill., and Bonita Bussey of West Dundee, Ill.; one brother, Tony Bussey of West Dundee, Ill.; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, at the Coal Hill Baptist Church with Rev. David Qualls and Rev. Gerald Morris officiating.
Burial was in Hartman cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Herbert Vogelpohl
Father Herbert Vogelpohl, O. S. B., 93, monk of Subiaco Abbey, died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2005.
He was born in Subiaco on Dec. 3, 1911, son of Joseph and Mary Vorster Vogelpohl, was baptized Leo Daniel, attended St. Benedict School, graduated from Subiaco Academy in 1931, became a monk of Subiaco Abbey on Sept. 16, 1934, and received the name of Herbert, was ordained to the priesthood by Bishop John B. Morris at the Cathedral of Saint Andrew in Little Rock in 1939, was assigned to St. Mary Church in Fort Worth, Texas, taught at Laneri High School, served as coach and organized inter-scholastic sports programs, was moderator for the Sodality of the Blessed Virgin Mary, ten-year Boy Scout leader having received the Scoutmaster's Key award, and was director of Coury House.
Survivors include one sister, Mayme Geels of Fort Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Christian Wake service was held at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14. The liturgy of Christian burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, in Saint Benedict Church at Subiaco. Interment was in the Abbey cemetery.
