Mrs. Bertha Reeves
Mrs. Bertha Reeves, 81, of Hartman died Saturday, Dec. 25, 1999, at Countryside Manor Nursing Home.
She was a daughter of the late William D. and Lottie J. Ponder Self, widow of George W. Reeves, member of the Coal Hill First Baptist Church, a senior companion for the Area Agency on Aging, a retired poultry process employee, and was preceded in death by one son, William David Reeves, three sisters, Lora, Pearl, and Georgia, and three brothers, Doy, Ellis, and Dalton.
She is survived by one daughter, Janice Nauheimer of Hartman; three grandchildren, Patrick and Mark Nauheimer of Arlington, Va., and Cathy Bailey of Brandon, Miss.; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, at the Coal Hill First Baptist Church with Rev. David Qualls officiating.
Burial will be in Hartman cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Bentley Yates, Larry Marvel, Paul L. Walker, Kermit Warren, Eugene Scarberry, and Larry Robertson.
Cephas M. Allred
Cephas Monroe Allred, 92, of Ozark died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1999, at Mercy Hospital/Turner Memorial in Ozark.
A native of Cass, he was a son of the late John I. and Geneva Horner Allred, retired farmer, and member of Corinth Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Sylvia Allred; three sons, Bobby Allred of Coal Hill and Harrison Allred and Larry Allred, both of Ozark; four daughters, Pauline English of Altus, Brenda Lewis of Mulberry, Reba Peevy of Alma, and Angerie Terry of Doddridge; two brothers, Calvin Allred of Daytona Beach, Fla., and Olen Allred of Tulsa, Okla.; one sister, Mary Edna Meredith of California; 19 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 24, at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ricky McNeill and Rev. Phillip Peevyhouse officiating. Burial was in Highland cemetery at Ozark.
Active pallbearers were Ricky Allred, Britt Allred, Keith Allred, Stephen Allred, Michael Peevy, and Gary Terry.
Honorary pallbearers were Kevin Allred, Chris Clayton, Brian Hill, Kenneth Peevy, and Vincent Terry.
Mrs. Cecelia G. Roes
Mrs. Cecelia Garnette Roes, 77, of Denton, Texas, formerly of Hartman, died Saturday, Dec. 18, 1999, in Denton, Texas.
She was a daughter of the late William Dewight and Teresa Williametha Smith Reedy, widow of Albert J. Roes, retired teacher and saleslady, past state president of the VFW auxiliary in 1986, life member of VFW Auxiliary Post 8532 in Coal Hill, member of AARP National Organizer, life member of the VFW National Children's Home in Eaton Rapids, Mich., and was preceded in death by one son, Dale Richard Phillips, and one brother Russell William Reedy.
She is survived by one daughter, Carolyn Lee Freeman of Denton, Texas; one son, Leroy Albert Roes of Rapid City, S. D.; two sisters, Nettie Antonell and and Fern Newcomm, both of Denver, Colo.; one brother, Gene Patrick Reedy of Denver, Colo.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 9 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 23, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Father William Wewer officiating. Burial was in the National cemetery at Fort Smith.
Pallbearers were Cliff Roberts, Billy Pannell, Jim Gibson, Don Abbott, Otto Wall, and Bill Meeler.
David Dobbs
David Dobbs, 42, of Clarksville died Thursday, Dec. 23, 1999, at St. Edward Mercy Medical Center in Fort Smith.
He was a native of Clarksville and a 1975 graduate of Hartman High School.
He is survived by one daughter, Leah Dobbs of Clarksville; parents, Roland and Joyce Ann Dobbs of Clarksville; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Denese and David Smith of Clarksville and Mary Ann Tucker of Little Rock; and one brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Darlene Dobbs of Hartman.
Graveside services and burial were at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27, at Oakland cemetery with Rev. David Zeiler officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Mrs. Emma Ritchie
Mrs. Emma Loretta Over Ritchie, 63, of Clarksville died Monday, Dec. 27, 1999, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was a daughter of the late Homer Over, member of the Church of Christ, retired shoe plant employee and turkey farmer, and was preceded in death by one son, Charles Larry Ritchie, and two brothers, Robert Over and George Over.
Survivors include her husband, C. T. Ritchie; one daughter, Connie Saum of Clarksville; two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Teresa Ritchie and Kevin and Sarah Ritchie, all of Clarksville; mother, Hazel Dewberry of Clarksville; six grandchildren, Tia Graves, Adrienne Saum, Samantha Saum, Jimmy Ritchie, Sarah Ritchie, and Elizabeth Ritchie; and two great-grandchildren, Joshua Saum and Elaura Graves.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 31, at Roller-Cox Chapel with burial in the Hogan cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Mrs. Galela E. Edgin
Mrs. Galela E. Edgin of Coal Hill died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 1999.
She was a member of the Coal Hill Methodist Church, retired Cargill employee, widow of Thurman Edgin, and was preceded in death by one grandson, Bruce Crooks.
She is survived by two daughters, Mildred McFarland of Lavaca and Peggy King of North Little Rock; three sisters, Arlene Bartlett of Coal Hill, Lillie Carter of Spiro, Okla., and Lola Swafford of Dyer; five brothers, Roy Smith and Raymond Smith, both of Ozark, Argus Smith of Claremore, Okla., Winford Smith of Coal Hill, and Thurman Smith of Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Jennifer Crooks of Ozark, Keith Crooks, Darrel Stricklin, and Randy Stricklin, all of Coal Hill, and Alan Stricklin of Memphis, Tenn.; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 23, at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Coal Hill cemetery.
Pallbearers were Gerald Bartlett, Cecil Zolliecoffer, J. C. Smith, Walter Smith, Harley Edgin, and Kemper Edgin.
Gary Ward Riggs
Gary Ward Riggs, 37, of Metcalfe, Ga., son of Helen Marie Batman of Clarksville, died Monday, Dec. 27, 1999, at Archbold Memorial Hospital.
He was a native of Abilene, Texas, son of the late Charles Eugene Riggs, member of Hebron Fellowship Church, and employed as a rehabilitation technician at Archbold Memorial Hospital.
Other survivors include his widow, Mrs. Deborah Miller Riggs; one brother, Spencer Riggs of Shreveport, La.; and two sisters, Jana Meeker of Fayetteville and Debbie Blanc of Shreveport, La.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, at Metcalfe United Methodist Church with Rev. Tommy Jones officiating.
Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Allen and Allen Funeral Home of Thomasville, Ga.
James Waldo
James Waldo, 88, of London died Monday, Dec. 27, 1999, at AMI St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville.
He was a native of the Bull Frog Valley Community, son of the late General and Lou Rene Hickey Waldo, member of the London United Methodist Church, Mason, farmer and was preceded in death by his first wife, Esther Mae Waldo, four brothers and one sister.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Inez Dale Waldo; three sons and daughters-in-law, James Vaughn and Carolyn Waldo of Branson, Mo., George H. and Betty Waldo of Dover, and Alfred V. and LeeAnn Waldo of Marianna; four daughters and sons-in-law, Kanna Lou and Dayne Phillips, Linda and Alvie Hollon, and Gloria and Jamie Conquest, all of Clarksville, and Erma and Steve Hormann of London; one stepson and stepdaughter-in-law, David Lee and Eva Dale of Clarksville; two brothers, Doyle Waldo of Dover and Charles Waldo of Oklahoma; one sister, Eloise Boley of Missouri; 19 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 31, at Humphrey Funeral Service Chapel in Russellville with Rev. Thomas Chenowith and Rev. Ronnie Burch officiating. Burial will be in Owens cemetery at Dover.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday.
